The room and property are nice but it is absolutely the WORST internet connection- constantly disconnecting and sometimes had to sit outside my room on the porch- which I didn’t always want to do- in order to have a consistent signal. Very annoying. Breakfast buffet of $36 USD very over-priced for what it is. $20 USD would even be too much, but more reasonable.

The staff was so friendly and accommodating! The lagoon bungalow I stayed in was clean and the view was great. The A/C worked too. A lovely place to stay. My only complaint was the lack of parking and you had to pay a lot for extra’s such as beach towels, so bring your own.

Our bungalow was freshly renovated unfortunately not completely finished. Some outfitting details are still missing as complete unit was very minimalistic outfitted. Toilet was not cleaned and still with traces of previous ‘job’ and shower drainage was draining very slow which after some time start to overflow to bathroom. Breakfast we did not take because 32-36 usd/person is exaggerated. Beach in front of hotel had smell of piss which spoiled enjoyment.

Our second stay and wonderful, again! Amazing location, quiet, friendly staff, resturant & food trucks near. Grocery 1 mile and small grocery .5 mile. Great AC which is good for sleeping in this hot, humid climate. Great bathroom & shower with space for wet snorkel gear. Hotel restaurant not my favorite but other options near.

Very picturesque setting on Cook's Bay. Multitude of fish seen right from the dock. Room was nice and air conditioned. Staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the resident two cats and dogs. Food was only OK. Buffet breakfast was not worth the money.We would stay there again.

The staff here was beyond friendly, and always quite helpful. The location was perfect. We rented a car and did a tour of the whole island one day and decided that the views from our bungalow couldn't be beat! There are nicer beaches in the northwest of the island, and parts of the east, so if swimming/snorkeling is your focus, you'll need a car/scooter/bike. There are a number of great restaurant an easy walk away, Allo Pizza being one of our favorite. And there's a nice grocery store about a 15 minute walk from the hotel where you can but some ready-made meals, or get fruit, yoghurt, cheese, cereal and milk. Overall, this hotel offers great value, we definitely recommend it.

At first, I found myself completely fine with the accommodation, but once construction started up it was too noisy to be there. The lounge chairs by the water were mostly broken and even on my day of checkout when I had several hours before I needed to leave, they decided to clean the furniture on my porch by sanding it making it unavailable for me to use and impossible to have any kind of a restful experience. They asked for a US$20 deposit to have any use of beach towels and then an additional Fr.600 for daily use that is promised to be refunded upon departure. I did not have that kind of cash on me on a day that I needed to towel, I was given one for Fr.300 deposit as it was what I had in my hand. Then upon departure, I was refused the refund of the deposit, even though I returned the towel because I hadn’t given him the $20 deposit to begin with. Everyone was very nice to me until I checked out and then suddenly they were incredibly rude and refusing to refund my security deposit when it should’ve been returned given that the item I borrowed had been return to them in good condition. overall, the place is incredibly overpriced for what you get and given how much you’re spending you should be given beach towels and usable lounge chairs without being asked for additional funds.

Our room had only been completed just prior to our arrival and wreaked of paint during our entire stay.The toilet seat was broken for 3 days and hand towels were also not available.We had one meal at the restaurant and it was horrendous-we walked out without finishing it.The hotel has potential but needs a serious revamp and so does their kitchen & menu.Having said that one staff member Cindy was excellent and did everything she could to improve our stay.Also the beaches on the site are inaccessible for swimming and also quite treacherous as one of them has stone fish whose spines can cause a nasty infection.

The location is ideal. Cooks Bay is a great area, walking distance to shops, restaurants, grocery, services and breathtaking beauty. The view is amazing from the restaurant and dock. We stayed in a lanai room, which means the back row by the road. These rooms are half the cost of the front row lagoon view rooms. Some rooms are really old, dated, in questionable condition and smell of mildew. Some cabins are brand new. The first one we stayed in had terrible odor and fired up my husband’s allergies. It also had an ant infestation. They were kind enough to move us to another room that smelled better and no ants.

The snorkeling out front off the end of the dock was quite good. There’s a steep drop off and you’ll see a lot there. We saw tons of colorful fish, a giant nurse shark, an octopus, turtles and an eel. The little beach was never crowded and great for floating.

The staff at Kaveka was super friendly and accommodating.

The breakfast was crazy expensive so we walked to the Maharepa grocery every morning for the best fresh French pastries I have ever had! I hope the walk offset some of the calories! We also walked to pizza place quite close. It was great. We ate at Kaveka restaurant for dinner once and it was a big plate of delicious grilled fish and shrimp… enough for two of us to share.

I would probably stay here again. The rooms not fantastic but for the price, it’s pretty good.

Beachfront bungalow has the most incredible view. King bed is great for my tall spouse and it was very comfortable. We slept great all 3 nights as the property was small enough that other guests are spread out and we didn’t hear anything except the sounds of nature. We enjoyed eating dinner there each night too; lots of food options and convenient.

Rather moribund, understaffed and not as described.

We had three major issues at Kaveka which tainted our time on Moorea. We had chosen it specifically because it is described as having “a private beach” and our chosen bungalow was “on the lagoon”. This is at best misleading and at worst a deliberate distortion. We found that only one or two of the bungalows have a beach with lagoon access. Our bungalow, and others, have a low sea wall with a patch of sand on the land side of the wall for our loungers. The sand also served as a main walkway for other guests so it is not private space.

The hotel description mentions access to “beach umbrellas”. Our “beach” - the sandy area in front of the bungalow but behind the sea wall - received intense afternoon sunshine that mandated at least partial shade. But the staff told us that they do not provide beach umbrellas. The hotel description on Expedia is therefore wrong and needs to be updated.

The hotel’s guest wi-fi was highly unreliable and intermittent. We complained twice over two days and each time we were told to wait while it was “reset”. I wasn’t going to waste more vacation time complaining more since I had reasonable cellular coverage. You might not have!

Do yourself a favor, and avoid the temptation for what seems a good deal and instead pay extra for a better place - the Cook’s Bay Resort next door is modern and lovely - and perhaps just stay fewer days. Your vacation time will be so much better!

We searched Experdia for a hotel on Tahiti. Kaveka came up and looked good so we booked it and paid. We immediately realised the hotel was not on Tahiti and tried to cancel less than 5 minutes after booking. They did not suffer any loss or inconvenience, yet took our money and refused to reimburse one penny. What does that tell you about them?

The staff was very nice. The place is being renovated so perhaps it will steadily improve. The beach was unappealing. The food was extra expensive at the restaurant. The location was convenient to food shopping, a good food truck (roulette), to the public beach by the Sofitel and to hiking. Best of all, the price was relatively reasonable. So would I stay there again? Yes, likely so.

The hotel is so special, authentically Polynesian, with stunning views, and the staff are so very helpful and kind!! We left our hearts there, and will return!!

So this is our 2 additional nights on Moorea after staying at the Hilton; it's a value-stay, pretty good stop. I think the hotels.com photos don't show it well enough. The place is undergoing a renovation of some of the lodge/houses; so if you're planninng for July 25+ I'd ask for a a newer design. It's quiet, even though it's close to the road. The bay has some smaller cruise ships coming and going. There are cats and dogs kind of milling through the grounds. The restaurant is nice but needs more business. We had breakfast, but had dinner across the lagoon at Oeimeo (Wonderful). Front desk staff was great, more local chill vibe - lots of good ideas. You can snorkel right off the little beach and pier with good fish, and saw sea-turtles and sharks right off the dock. The staff was nice and gave some french bread for fish feeding off the end of the pier.

The only thing to mention is our bungalow did not cool diwn adequately from the ceiling fan or air-conditioner, however this did not stop our enjoyment of our room. We would stay here again.

Everything was wonderful, or cabana, the ocean, the staff from front desk to cleaning although seemed under staffed somewhat.
We ate breakfast once and I would say being from the restaurant industry that it was VERY overpriced for the selection offered. Basic, fruit breads coffee and juice was 32.00 and if you upgraded to pancakes and eggs it was 36.00. Very slow service, but again understaffed.
Lunch and dinner was VERY good though and pricing was okay.
The grounds people and cleaning staff were wonderful.
The cabanas were spacious and very comfortable.
One suggestion would be to offer snorkeling equipment and a beach towel to your guests at no charge for what you charge to book a stay.

The hotel has bungalows and the restaurant is on the water. It is located directly on the beach in a very nice bay. The restaurant is very good but breakfast is too expensive for the food offered. You need a car to reach it from the airport or the harbor, and to move around the island. No public transportation and taxis are quite expensive.

I was a last minute check-in, which was a little problematic, as they had sorry of closed for the evening. I was told that this is their not busy season, but I would still expect an establishment such as that to be open past six. Minor issue with the windows, where I had to close them from outside to avoid mosquitoes. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the property is absolutely gorgeous. If not for those inconveniences I mentioned, I would have given them 5 stars across the board.

Kaveka is lovely. This is by far the best of 3 hotels/resorts we stayed at while in Tahiti. Our bungalo was steps away from the water where we could watch fish swim around the reef or look up at the dramatic tropical mountain landscape near us. When it rained, we relaxed under the covered patio enjoying the views of rain without actually being wet. Kaveka is a great deal compared to other resorts, especially if you want a more quiet and intimate vacation. You can swim around some reefs right at the hotel which is very convenient. The room was very clean and comfortable. There are some friendly hotel cats and dogs that wander around the property during the day. And the staff is nice and helpful. We can't wait to come back. I'm hoping to bring the whole extended family one of these days :D

Perfect location next to the airport. Especially for folks leaving on cruise or arriving at 11pm as I did. Why spend money on high cost hotel for short stay. It is directly across from the airport but to walk it you would have to take streets to cross the roadway between the airport and the hotel. If I wasnt lugging a big suitcase I would have walked it so I opted for the approx $20 taxi ride. Friendly receptionist at checkin. Inexpensive room was clean and comfortable.

Our visit back to Hotel Kaveka 23 years after our honeymoon at the same location was wonderful. We prefer smaller, locally run and/or owned hotels, and Hotel Kaveka does not disappoint. The manager was kind enough to upgrade us for our stay, and we enjoyed our spacious and clean bungalow, a few steps from the water. Each morning over our coffee we'd watch the fish, and were treated to seeing an octopus. Great snorkeling is right in front at a drop-off. So nice to see the numerous upgrades over years--what a treat to stay once again.

Too expensive and not a great selection compared to other hotels on the island. But that would not stop me from coming back here. My 4th time and I will return next year.

We loved our beach bungalow which had an amazing view, newly renovated room including bathroom with huge shower. Comfortable bed & mini-fridge. Staff was super friendly & helpful with taxi service, scheduling activities, food service, drinks, recommendations and local info. We will definitely return. Hotel Kaveka felt like someone really put their heart into the property with a local feel, unlike larger hotels. This is NOT the Hilton, and that's exactly why we loved it!

So many things. Broken door, broken and beeping safe, really really outdated everything. The repair folks just left my door unlocked the whole day after finishing work, no one checked. I had to leave a day early, got charged for the whole stay. Also, breakfast is about $40. Very unfriendly manager. The staff are very friendly and doing the best to keep the place running but management has serious issues. If you can afford another place, this hotel is just not worth the trip to Moorea.

This hotel is no frills, but clean, cute and the staff are all so wonderful. The snorkeling off the dock is some of the best on the island; a secret treasure right at your feet! The restaurant has many options and is delicious, albeit a little pricey. My friend and I wanted to rent scooters, and the staff coordinated for us, which was very helpful and the scooters were delivered straight to our hotel. There was air conditioning in the room, although we did not need it at night because the ceiling fan was enough. Overall we had a lovely stay at Hotel Kaveka, and if you’re looking for a safe, clean, simple place to stay this is it!

READ BEFORE YOU BOOK! First check in. Odd not very warm greeting no “congrats on your honeymoon” nothing of the short. Guy walked us to our room showed us were to enter the room key to turn on the lights and AC then left. Room was dirty with dirty linens, stained towels. A giant cockroach crawling around and what I assume was a gecko’s poop on my pillow. Spider’s webs in every corner. Tiny bugs everywhere. I get it I am on an island but the reason for so many bugs was clearly from not cleaning and the half an inch gap in the sliding glass window that needs replacement. We paid for the beach and waterfront room. There was local teens playing music and swimming in front of our room daily. Literally right in front of us on the hotel grounds. The hotel did nothing to vacate these teens. I am all about kids having fun, but it seriously killed the vibes and provided no privacy at all.
The hub caps were stolen on our rental car... When I went to the front desk to inform them the guy smiled and shrugged his shoulders and said sorry. Period. No, I am so sorry let me get the manager blah blah blah. Just sorry bye. It was very very hot the week we stayed. You can only cool the room with the room key. I requested an additional room key so that the room wasn’t a completed furnace when we got back from outing, but the manager said no to this request. Please Please do yourself a favor and book somewhere else. I have so many more things but only allowed 1500 characters!

We had a marvelous three night stay in this gorgeous hotel! The service was impeccable! And the views were to die for. The staff was incredibly, friendly and helpful. My husband was not feeling well after the ferry ride into the island, so they allowed us to check into our hotel Several hours early. We are for sure coming back and this is the hotel we will stay in again! The views and the beach and the surrounding area and the staff can’t be beat anywhere else on the island.

Highly recommend

This was my second time at Kaveka and we were upgraded on the second day which was wonderful. The bungalow was recently renovated. Clean, roomy with the verandah facing the sea. Service was excellent. My son and granddaughter stayed with me and they made such a fuss of her (aged three) I’ll always be grateful.
Sophia in particular went out of her way and needs to be acknowledged.
The location is superb.
We look forward to returning next year.

Left after first night as they didn't have a pool which we needed (for the kids) and was one of the main reasons we booked it. Front desk and manager was rude, slow and obnoxious in recognizing and handling the issue. Blaming us for it rather than dealing with the fact that they are advertised as with pool on hotels.com. Took 2 days and they still charged us for 2 nights even though we only stayed for 1. Don't go...

ALL of the staff we encountered were very kind and helpful. The bungalow is older and dated-but served its purpose.

The staff are very friendly. Our room was very hot, ceiling fan did not work, and tv did not turn on. The maintenance tried to fix the fan and did bring us a large fan for the night which was very nice. He did provide another key so the AC would cook down the room while we went for dinner.. it is a very old

Beautiful view but property needs attention

The view from the restaurant is gorgeous and the food was pretty good. Staff very friendly but forgot my request for a bike and my safe still didn’t work after 2 requests. No kettle in room and no water provided even though you can’t drink the water at the hotel. Housekeeping not great- forgot to leave clean glasses, hand towels and toilet paper. Bed ok but bathroom very dated

The dock has an amazing view

We stayed two nights at this hotel and really enjoyed our experience. The staff was friendly and super helpful with what to do around the island. I loved having coffee ready early in the morning.

The hotel states they have wifi but it’s only in lobby. And they’re under construction so it’s really loud all day. Lastly, their breakfast is the most ludicrous cost on the entire island. Their shuttles never showed up and their front desk person kept telling me she’d checked it herself and the wifi was working. It never was. Anytime we wanted to call somebody on island for bike rental of jet skiing, we had to walk to lobby. And the chickens wake you up early!!!

This place was peaceful and serene. The room we had was a little small for us and had no patio but we were okay with that because we chose not to upgrade and it was a place to sleep. The grounds were clean and very beautiful however they did have construction on property which was not a problem for us and looked like it was getting more bungalows added. The beach area could have been tended to with maybe removal of some of the seaweed but if you swam far out enough it was not a problem. We opted for hanging out at the end of the pier for swimming and sunbathing. The staff was always smiling with friendly greetings and assisted us with questions we had. The tourism office was next door. Overall if you didn’t want to spend lots of money on the over the water lagoons this was a very nice option. We loved it here.

Waiting for partial refund

Unfortunately our bungalow was only recently repainted and a strong pungent odor prevailed giving us a sinus infection.
When we informed the evening staff she said they knew of it and apologized. Later the manager said we could NOT get any of empty units because of the type of reservation we had ????? He vaguely said he would ask owner if we could get some credit. But we have not heard anything!
Food and service was very good.

At approx $300 per night, we are very disappointed.

Stunningly beautiful location on Cooks Bay, lots of fish around the reef off the pier. Good restaurant. The cabin was nice; AC works well- but only while you are in the room, so needs a little time to cool down.

This property was listed as \"lagoon view\", but you could not actually see the water from the unit. The walls were so thin that we could hear everything that was going on in the room next to us. Knowing we could hear them meant they could hear everything in our unit as well. The air conditioning could only be run when you were in the room with the key in so we often came back to a very warm room. It is a fine property with a nice beach area and restaurant but over priced for what is provided and the privacy issue for connecting rooms is a big concern.

Oh I miss this place so much, This island is the one of the most beautiful places I've been to. My bungalow was awesome. Right on the water, like roll out of bed and right into the ocean awesome! The staff are so nice and helpful. The snorkeling was one of my favorite things, so many fish and one day a big turtle swam right by me! Anyway, I could go on and on, I had a great experience, book the oceanfront bungalow and you will be happy. Drive around the island, there are some amazing snack shops and so much to do, or not do and relax. Moorea is a very special place and I can't wait to get back there.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS (and the costs are high!)

Cockroaches: 3 inches (7.5 cm). As I was sleeping, one crawled on my head and woke me up. When I knocked it off, not knowing what it was, it thought it would share my pillow with me. That was not to be. We had another in our shower.

Other bugs in the room: LOTS! Ya, I’m aware of the line “Well this is the tropics and you have to expect this.” Well, no, not to this level. And all our food was stored in the fridge.

Safe in the room: The first one didn’t work. They brought another, much smaller one which was unusable because of it’s size. They brought another like the first one. It did not work either. They brought a fourth one. Over an hour was killed as we couldn’t leave the room until this was fixed.

Wifi: Almost non-existent. My line speeds via telephone in the late 1990’s were faster for the few times that it did work.

Drinking water: Nope! You can’t drink the tap water. When I asked if there was any for the room at the front, they said sure, and produced a bottle. Only when I asked did they tell me there was a charge of $4. It is $1 at the grocery store. It was more that we paid a lot for the hotel and they didn’t supply drinking water.

The Beach: On one side of the lobby is a tiny strip of sand. On the second step into the water, my leg sank into the sand most of the way to my knee. I felt like I was in quicksand and it was challenging to break free. There are better beaches elsewhere.

The hotel is dated and could use some modernizing. The maintenance man that takes care of the gardens etc. is amazing. The Wi-Fi service is terrible. The Wi-Fi service is terrible and close to nonexistent. Rooms need a good cleaning to include baseboards windows and window sills. Also before checking in confirm everything works. We had to move rooms due to safe not operational. The rooms as advertised on Expedia are not what you get. There is no porch on lanais. Moorea is a beautiful island but this was not a 200 a night property for our room. They are updating the property and some of the rooms appear to be very nice.
