As many other reviewers have noted, the setting is spectacular. The expectation is that such a beautiful property must surely be 5 star rated. But upon closer inspection, its luster quickly wears off. The huts are all tired, and in need of some updating. Wallpaper is peeling, and torn in places, and cleanliness is below average for any level of hotel. Perhaps most disappointing was the quality and variety of the restaurants. They were simply abysmal. Imagine a mediocre breakfast buffet for $50+! Or 2 cups of coffee for $12! Bottom line – if you’re OK with eye candy, gracious hardworking staff, but horrible dining, you’ll be happy with the property. If you want a true Hilton 5 Star experience, you won’t find it at this disappointing location

Amazing stay, would go back multiple times if possible. Room was spotless and equipped with everything we needed. The pool, grounds and restaurants were beautiful. The beach is small but it has plenty of chairs and shade. We didn’t spend any time in the pool since we mostly snorkeled and paddled when we were there. The fish in the reefs in the lagoon by the hotel were vibrant and worth every cent. We didn’t take a separate snorkeling tour in Moorea like we had to in Bora Bora be a use this hotel has many fish in it’s lagoon (unlike our Bora Bora hotel). It was lovely and the Polynesian show was very nice. The breakfast was excellent. Maururu.

The property is just amazing especially if you stay at the water bungalow. The view is out of this world and with fish just at your doorstep when you snorkel.

The downside was the poor management of this hotel. When we checked in, we had to wait for 1 hour. The place was understaffed and the guy who was checking us in, was serving us drinks and cold towels. There was no one helping us with our luggage and it was left in the rain. I have to say it’s the worse service ever - and the people are nice but how can one person handle 10 peoples job?

Overall, I feel poor management is bringing down an awesome location. Our bathroom curtains were frayed, the common bathroom tap at the reception was shaky. And for $1500 per night, you would expect this to be top notch but it sadly missed the mark in terms of giving a lux feeling

My favorite place on Earth !
It’s my second time at Moorea island .
Beautiful bungalow over the blue turquoise water with glass window on the floor .
Everyday jumping right to the water from your own private deck to swim or snorkeling was absolutely amazing! Daily stocked fridge with beers , soft drinks and water . Daily sparkly housekeeping cleaning room .
Hotel staff is amazing people ! Love them 🫶
The best food on the island at 3 restaurants in hotel .
Luxury service everywhere on the property.
Spa service is so so good and relaxing!
Love Moorea Hilton Resort & Spa ❤️
I will be back 3rd time that for sure ! 😉

We stayed in the overwater bungalow. It was amazing! First of all, the bungalows are laid out well and kept well. The location on the water was beautiful and perfect! My daughter and I love to snorkel so when we wanted to snorkel we just stepped off of our dock. We took full advantage and snorkeled a lot! The food at all the resort restaurants was very good and the drinks (alcoholic) were all very good as well. Every resort employee we talked to or had dealings with was very kind and accommodating. Just an overall great stay! We would definitely recommend!

We spent 7 nights in an over the water bungalow in early November 2025. The resort is beautiful and staff extremely helpful and very attentive. We found on sight services like rental cars and booking excursions were not always available. Parking was free and on property. Food was expensive, which was common everywhere, and room service charge was $25.00 with no tipping. Lunch and dinner options were nothing special, but we loved breakfast. We ordered assorted fruits and baked goods. Loved the fruit variety and abundance of both. Dinner was buffet style and around $150 per person not including alcohol. The pool was very nice and had easy entry. It starts ankle deep gradually getting deeper. There were limited shaded options during peak times. Beach view was mainly blocked by bungalows, so suggest going off site or booking a beach excursion for the beautiful virws. The Polynesian program, offered 3 nights a week is lovely and free, offered just outside the dining room. The drumming carried throughout the resort and lasted about an hour. You may want to ask for a room far from the dining room if you are sound sensitive. Lastly, my companion wanted the breakfast delivered by outrigger canoe. I rolled my eyes while booking, but it became a highlight of our stay. She took a ride around the lagoon while breakfast was set up with special linen and flowers. It was a great picture opportunity, touristy but memorable.

We loved the luxury of the overwater bungalow and the excellent poolside and beach service, especially by Tapu and Pierre. Our housekeeping staff arrived regularly and kept our room immaculate.The lagoon water was pristine, especially for morning snorkeling, with tons of fish including sharks! We also enjoyed the buffet dinner and Polynesian show. We had an unforgettable week.

We stayed for 7 nights in a deluxe garden bungalow. The bungalow itself was spacious, private, and having our own pool was awesome.

What made our stay special was the amazing staff, at all restaurants, and especially the pool/beach area. They took care of us and we befriended a few of them by the end of the trip! Pierre, Jacques, and I believe Tehopo was his name were all amazing.

We stayed at the Hilton Tahiti prior coming to Hilton Moorea, and the Hilton Tahiti was very recently renovated, while Moorea seemed a bit older and more rustic. It could use a bit of a facelift in some areas, paint on the decks, etc.

The other suggestion would be an alternative to the breakfast buffet, a cafe with breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, etc. It would be nice to have a lighter breakfast option, as the buffet is not cheap everyday.

The resort is the most unique we’ve been to, the lagoon is gorgeous, and after driving around the island it seems the Hilton Moorea has the best location. Right between the two bays. Kayaking, paddle boarding, and snorkelling in the lagoon (all included) was amazing.

The Toatea Crepe Restaurant, which is overwater, was one of the highlights. We saw lots of sharks and other marine life.

Overall, the resort could use a bit of a renovation but the scenery, location, restaurants, and staff more than make up for it, making it a special memory for us.

This was my husband and I’s second stay at the Hilton Lagoon Spa in Moorea and it’s safe to say we would come back for a third visit! We had such a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the beautiful stay here. We booked a premium panoramic view overwater bungalow and enjoyed 12 days of the most incredible view and waters. We’re avid snorkelers and divers, so being able to snorkel right from our room is incredible! Despite the declining state of corals worldwide, there were a lot of beautiful and healthy corals on the property housing plenty of different fish, eels, mussels, anemones, etc. We saw things like clownfish, triggerfish, damselfish, moray eels, and so much more. It’s also very safe for beginners and children, just respect the coral and always give the triggerfish space! The staff here are lovely as well and it was pleasant to get to know them. Food is on the pricier side averaging $25-$40 a dish per room service and $50pp for the breakfast buffet, however it’s to be expected on a fairly remote island where food and commodities aren’t going to be as easily accessible. A taxi to the local grocery store for snacks is a great solution if you’re looking for cheaper food alternatives. Overall this has been one of our favorite places to stay and we will definitely be back!

I stayed in an overwater bungalow and it was amazing, the water was as clear as pool water and there were tons of tropical fish, rays and even turtles and reef sharks right outside my door! It’s beautiful to sit out there and watch the sun rise the hop in the ocean for a nice swim. Staff were super friendly. The crepe restaurant is outside right over the water and at night you can watch the reef sharks swim while you eat! Absolutely worth the stay

Staff was mostly pleasant and helpful.

Prices varied wildy…from expensive to ridiculously expensive. As an example Breakfast was $32 daily per head for ‘cold’, $41 for ‘every’ which ‘hot’ options included eggs, bacon, etc…Sunday was $58 as it was ‘Polynesian’…to my eyes there was single additional item, a whole cooked fish from the previous nights luau.

The property is in major need of a refresh. To be honest, the over the water bungalow rooms are looking pretty ghetto. For over $1,500 a night this is unacceptable. I’ve stayed at OWB in the Maldives for half the price and they were way more luxurious than the Hilton in Mo’orea. Also the resort seems awfully short staffed and the food is overpriced and mediocre at best

Staying in the overwater bungalow was a highlight of my life. Jumping in the lagoon right off my deck and snorkeling. There is a good amount of live coral and multiple fish species. Had an Eagle Ray swim out from under the deck! The stargazing at night was fantastic; got to see the Southern Cross as well as the Milky Way!

This was about a 20min drive from Ferry, arrived and room wasn't ready but that was all good, they gave towels, and we sat by the pool till it was. We booked an Overwater Bungalow, and wow that pretty cool, I mean you get what you pay for right, and it wasn't cheap but nice to do at least once. Can't beat just diving in off your room into the clear waters, beautiful. There were 3 restaurants, all open and close at Different times. We had a spa treatment, woman were so lovely and did a great job, i felt very relaxed afterwards. Tahiti in general is very expensive so be prepared. Overall, a lovely stay and we just stayed at the hotel and didn't venture out, only had 3 days and wanted to make the most of it, relaxing and snorkeling.

The overwater bungalows are magnificent. coral and fish for days. just a super special location with a calm bay. for an adult you are always able to glide and stand in the water. the fish love small pieces of baguette.
One complaint. We were afvised of the breakfast buffet and two choices to choose from. However in the middle of it is a table that invites you to make your own mimosa. no mention of ectra charge by attendants nor a sign on n the table itself. in US, mimosas are usually included in buffet price. We had one each, they were 28.00 each. ridiculous. we spoke to manager and expected it to be taken off bill, it was not.

This property is a jewel, the hotel is well integrated into the natural environment, the bungalow overwater are amazing and offer a great and comfortable experience.
Shower in room is another level
The landscaping is well maintained, clean and respectful of the environment.
Paddle board, kayaks and snorkeling attire are available to discover the wonders of the lagoon.
Staff is always smiling, friendly and helpful. Food is fantastic. I would strongly recommend this hotel

My husband and I booked a garden room with a private pool, and we loved the privacy and comfort. The check in staff member as not too happy on our arrival, but her mood did not affect our stay. I would recommend this property to anyone traveling to Moorea. Next time I would like to stay at an over water room. It must be amazing to check out the ocean life during the night.

As of mid-March, the land bungalows are still in need of staining and outdoor repair as others have mentioned in their reviews. Our room was comfortable, bed was always made and the cleaning staff were very friendly. The best part about this resort is definitely the private lagoon for snorkeling, paddle boarding and kayaking. Our least favorite part was the value, pricing, and how we felt they nickel and dime you. If you love your coffee in the morning, don’t count on the little Nespresso machine in your room. With four little pods each day, it’s just not enough! We asked if we could get more pods to actually fill up one coffee cup and they said we would have to pay for them. It was annoying because of how much you spend for your room. We ended up bartering with our hut neighbor and traded our beer for pods. Note that breakfast on Sunday will be around $60 not $40 p/p. We thought it was totally worth it to rent a car to be able to drive to different spots for our meals. We ate once at the hotel for breakfast. You just don’t need to spend that much for breakfast or dinners! Happy hour is worth joining, as drinks are half off. We enjoyed our Pina Coladas! Staff are hit or miss. We really enjoyed the guy working behind the towel and equipment shed. He was a one man show and very easy to talk to. We sat down in front of the tourism desk and waited while a lady staff member was on a cell phone, never looked up or said hello once off her phone, so we left. Our rating: 2.5-3 stars!

Amazing property. Not so good with service. For a place that charges of $1,000 per night you’d think they would staff the front desk and bellman positions so that 20 minute waits are eliminated.
It took us that long to check in. It took 20 minutes to get a porter for our bags. It took 20 minutes to check out. It took 20 minutes to get our bags retrieved from the bungalow. The worst part is that the reception leader was present at a desk and never stepped in to help or change anything. I’d still recommend this place because the over-water bungalows are a one of a kind experience. But just a little frustrated too.

The room was nice, but definitely dated. The check in the gentleman was nice, but there was just really no service. They could not walk us to our room which we expect in a five star hotel, especially when you’re staying in the overwater premium bungalow. The fixtures in the bathroom were dated and had lots of grime on them. Also, the ice maker across from our room was broken, and it looked like a had been broken for a long time. Half of the equipment in the gym was broken. We ordered a burger from room Service, and ordered at medium rare and it was an overcooked hockey puck. They brought another one and it was the same thing. The room service lady was super nice. The snorkeling off the room was a 10 out of 10 we actually never ate any more meals in the hotel and people were generally nice but the hotel is just a little tired and after coming from a five star resort in Bora Bora, this was not even close to a five star experience. Very expensive for the service we received.

Bungalow had incredible views - the lagoon was breathtaking. Loved being able to snorkel off our deck. Really enjoyed the creperie and watching sting rays and black tip sharks swimming below us as we dined! The rooms were clean and very nice. The exteriors of the bungalows are quite worn and need a refresh but it didn't affect our stay.

Having stayed a few days earlier at the Hilton Tahiti, I was quite surprised at how run down the Moorea Hilton was. The dining chair cushions were all torn with the stuffing exposed, the over water bungalows were in desperate need of maintenance, decks need to be treated, the room needed to be deep cleaned, and furniture cleaned. This hotel was not up to par with what other Hilton properties.

This is easy the best property on the Island. The service here was very friendly and client focused. There were maybe one or two bad apples at the resort with bad attitude but we just learned to avoid them. One thing that could be better is an update to the menu. The food is good, but it could be GREAT with just a little bit more creativity and attention to detail. I highly recommend staying here while traveling in Moorea!

Heaven on Earth

This place was heaven on earth!! We stayed in the over water bungalows and loved it. The snorkelling was some of the best I have ever done. The staff was super friendly, we enjoyed the free passle boards and kayaks every day.

Property not in good shape

The resort is not in good condition. Our room had peeling wallpaper, toilet that would not flush properly and the pool deck boards were loose and bowed presenting a safety hazard. While the staff was very nice they seemed overworked. We saw people in the morning at 7am and they were still working at 9pm. It really felt like management was milking the property without fixing anything. We stayed here when it was an Intercontinental and it was night and day difference.

Overwater Bungalow was stellar!

Beautiful accommodations. Bathroom vanity mirror needs to be fixed. The mini bar was unfortunately locked during my stay so I could not access the complimentary drinks. Other than that the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Overwater bungalow was stellar. The wood on the deck needs a re-coat. It’s getting pretty patchy in places.

Great Location - Hilton is Too Cheap to Invest

Hilton has a beautiful property hear but doesn't do it justice in terms of the management of the facility. People in the hotel were good, maintenance was average (one sink didn't drain, tracks on the dock leading to the bungalow were worn and broken off, etc.).

This location is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! We stayed in a over the water bungalow! Even though I believe we didn’t get the one we paid for ( we paid for the premium king panoramic view. This should have been either the very end or either side of that and we were put 3 back from that!)it was amazing!

I was so glad I booked this hotel to celebrate my birthday in Moorea. The overwater bungalow was what I had always dreamed of! Hilton did a great job with this property and with the management as well. I had a great time here, and will always dream of going back.
