Staff were very friendly and helpful, even after a 2am fire alarm ! ( not their fault !) Beat continental breakfast I've ever had, a massive selection where you couldn't fail to find great choices. As a coeliac i was well catered for at dinner too. Beautiful location.

Location is very good and the staff are all really friendly. The hotel rooms are very dated though with the bottom of our door frame falling off on arrival, pillows that were extremely flat, a storage heater for hot water that didn’t provide enough hot water for one quick shower and a bath, and just generally furniture and fittings that looked tired and dated. The amenities like tea and coffee were provided in the room but it did feel like the bare minimum. The wifi was also basically non functioning, which made spending any time in the room difficult. It is fine if you want to use the room to sleep in between Alton towers visits, but otherwise it isn’t a great hotel room environment.

A lovely stay, very close to Alton Towers. The staff were lovely & the continental breakfast varied & suited us well.
The rooms are separate \"chalets\" with allocated parking spaces next to each front door. We were concerned that staying in a pub may be noisy, but had a very peaceful night's sleep! The beds were very comfy & the family room spacious enough for 2 adults & 2 teenage kids (as long as they are happy in bunk beds!)
The rooms are very dated & could do with a freshen up. They could also do with a really thorough clean, the corners etc. Otherwise we were very happy with our stay.

Family trip to Alton Towers

Comfy clean accommodation. A bit dated but well worth the cost. Big bright room with a small bunk room which between them accommodated myself & 6 grandchildren between the ages of 10 & 14 whilst we had a couple of days at Alton Towers. We all loved the food and the portions were good. They were safe playing in the park outside the back of the restaurant. The staff were all really friendly and spent time chatting to the kids even though they were pretty lively at times.

Not a hotel, not very flexible

Lets get it straight, this is not a hotel, its a pub with a collection of ugly cabins, with bed & bunkbeds in, the bathroom is a compact set up, not easy for the toilet or shower, the windows were odd and the curtains torn, I was in billet 21 and by parking in ‘my’ parking spot I blocked the entrance to number 20, the reception although polite is not very friendly, and their flexibility is non-existent
We returned to the pub/hotel at 10:30 hoping for a drink and the bar was closed, with the bar staff leaving, at breakfast I was given a menu which was ceremonially taken of me and a replacement at twice the price given - as I was room only.

Lovely Countryside Stay with a Few Downsides

I recently stayed at the Dog and Partridge Country Inn and really enjoyed the overall experience. The location is beautiful—surrounded by greenery, peaceful, and perfect for a countryside escape. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the whole place felt safe and quiet.

The food was good, though a little on the pricey side. Still, it added to the nice atmosphere.

There were just a couple of downsides for me. The bed was very uncomfortable, sinking in the middle, and I left with back pain. Also, if you’re bringing your dog, there’s a £20 charge per day, which felt a bit steep.

Would I go back? Absolutely yes! Just crossing my fingers for a firmer mattress next time.

We stayed here for one night while visiting Alton Towers, and it was ideal. The room was very clean, and the staff were both friendly and helpful.

We had dinner at the on-site restaurant, which was delicious—just what we needed after a long day. They also offer a kids’ menu, which was a great touch. Breakfast was just as enjoyable, with a well-organised buffet offering plenty of options. There’s also the option to upgrade to a hot breakfast at a very reasonable price.

The room had everything we needed for a comfortable short stay.

Good, but not as anticipated

We had a perfectly good stay at the Dog and Partridge, but the accommodation didn’t transpire to be what we expect. We were anticipating a cozy room, in a country pub setting but, in reality, the D&P offers good value, chalet-style family rooms, each with it’s own car port, in a large area behind the pub itself. The pub itself has a nice enough bar, and offers fair evening meals, with a home-cooked feel, and a very good continental breakfast selection, or cooked options for just £6 extra. This would be an ideal choice for a family, looking for an overnight stop around a visit to Alton Towers, with the park being just 15 minutes away by car. . It was very cold when we visited, though, due to the two large conservatories at the pub’s rear.

We chose this pub as we were going to Alton Towers; a perfect location as only a 15 minute car drive. Accommodation is like a little village of chalets in the grounds of the pub, all adequate with flat screen tv, tea and coffee making supplies and kettle, hairdryer (but brought my own), a fabulously powerful shower. Room was clean and comfortable. You get allocated a parking space beside your chalet but there is plenty of parking in the main car park of the pub if you cannot park 2 cars side by side. We have a Sportage and the people sharing the parking spot between the 2 chalets had a van so we couldn't fit both in the space but parking in the car park was fine. Nice continental breakfast on one morning and upgraded to a full English on the 2nd - really nice quality ingredients for the cooked breakfast and a lovely selection for the continental - the fruit and yoghurt bowls with granola were particularly nice. Friendly staff and had a lovely meal in the evening after a full day at Alton Towers. Would definitely use the Dog and Partridge again when we visit again.

Was bitten by fleas during our stay, mentioned this to reception and I assume a manager the next morning and I was told that it had been a while since a dog stayed in our room…
There wasn’t any care with either member of staff not much was said to me just stared at, it was quite awkward.
It’s a shame we won’t be staying again purely because it the way the situation was handled.

The floor in our room was filthy… Dusty, rubbish from previous guests left in the room and empty packets of the complementary coffee and sugar.

We came here for two nights while visiting Alton Towers. It was the second time we stayed here, and the cleanliness and comfort were great, as were the staff (who were all lovely!)
Only thing we would say is that understandably for the location, the mobile service isn’t great, however there was unfortunately also really temperamental wifi, which kept dropping, making it difficult to look anything up at all. Other than that, everything else was great, and we would recommend to anyone (if they don’t mind some bad wifi and service!)

Wow, what a gem!
We had a fabulous experience from start to finish. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere so warm and friendly. The room was fantastic, and the bed—haven't slept that well in ages! The food was simply to die for, in the best way possible. We originally planned to stop over on our way to the Lakes, but after this visit, we'll definitely be back. Highly recommend! ♥️

We came here as I’m sure many do as a base for our Alton Towers adventures. The accommodation is basic but perfectly suited for this. After all we just needed a comfortable place for our family of four (inc. teenagers) to rest, wash and eat breakfast. Service was friendly and efficient. The room we stayed was like a motel style which was great for loading/unloading bags.

The facility was old but house keeping was very good and members of staffs were very friendly and helpful.

10-15min by car from Alton Tower was great. If we go back to Alton Tower, we will stay here again.

The accomodation was fine. Reasonably clean and comfortable.

The evening meal was nothing to write home about but it was ok.

Breakfast was disappointing.

Thankfully I noticed that the raspberries were covered in mould before my three year old ate any. The butter tasted sour and off- I couldn't eat it and had to take the butter covered toast from my 8 month old baby who was already munching away. We ordered toast for the table (of 5 people). It took a long time to come and we only got 4 pieces. We didn't want to wait for more so we just shared. The fact that the butter was putrid made us not really fancy anything more anyway. The croissants were stale too. I left feeling nervous that we were all going to end up ill. Thankfully we didn't. It made me wonder about hygine in the kitchen. We would not have eaten there in the evening if I'd already experienced breakfast.

Booked for overnight whilst visiting Alton Towers, so arrived around 9pm. Family room has good layout but first thing that hit us was smell of damp. Not sure how long since bedding had been changed on bunk bed as found a finger nail clipping under the quilt on the sheet. Glasses were dusty, old water in kettle and what looked like blood on bedside table (but think was possibly make up when we wiped it up). Walls stained, bathroom grime and toilet pan dirty.
Had it not been after 9pm, would have left room there and then.
One redeeming point was continental breakfast was fine and varied, if not a little bit odd.

Lovely hotel near Alton Towers

We stayed here as a family of 4 through Tesco clubcard the night before going to Alton Towers. We travelled for about 3 hours and didn't arrive til 9.30pm (we'd phoned ahead to say we were arriving late) and were greeted warmly with everything we needed to know explained to us. The chalets are behind the restaurant, it was a large room with a double bed and a bunk bed, there was a radiator that heated up quick, a decent kettle with tea, coffee, milk and sugar. The bathroom was clean with towels and a nice hot powerful shower. The only downside was we found the pillows really hard and uncomfortable. There is a communal playpark for the chalets which is lovely but unfortunately it had rained so the children didn't use it. The continental breakfast was lovely, it was a buffet with everything you could want on there, the kids loved it, at least 6 different types of cereals, little individual bowls with chopped berries in, toast to order, cookies, shortbread, flapjack, yoghurts, cheese, meats, kids cereal bars, we all had a really good feed! Fresh juices/tea and coffee to order, all included. The staff were really friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

My partner and I stayed here because it was close to Alton Towers, but we loved everything about it and can't wait to return! We got in sort of late at night and worried we wouldn't be able to get dinner, but the staff was super nice and let us put our dinner orders in when we checked in and freshen up before heading to the on-site pub.

The grounds are gorgeous and you have views of sprawling hills and cows, and they even have a chicken coop in the garden. (Also lots of play equipment for children and an outdoor beer garden.)

Breakfast was also delicious: A buffet of pastries and meats and cheeses and a few hot options for order.

Lovely pub/B&B looks better than the pictures, in a beautiful, quiet location and only a 10 minute drive from Alton Towers which was the purpose of our stay, staff all lovely, especially the receptionist (sorry didn’t get your name) Room we stayed in was outside in the pub grounds and perfect for our short stay, enough space for the 4 of us, and fabulous shower. Continental breakfast had a good choice and filled us up for the morning. Highly recommend

Only stayed one night as passing through but would definitely stay again longer. Loved the parking up to front door of chalets as made luggage handling easy. ( don't be put off with the word chalet certainly NOT anything like a Butlins type one!!! Lovely big bath and shower, big tele and could turn on heating if needed. Bed a bit hard but that is only our view!! Food fab and lots of choice at brekkie. lovely polite and friendly staff. Soooo good value for money 10/10

The room was clean and comfy, staff were all really friendly and helpful. The pub was lovely and cosy and was great to chill and have a drink in. The downside was the price/quality of the food, particularly the mixed grill. Pork was tough and got no choice as to how the steak was cooked and it was £25. Also paid for breakfast to find the cooked breakfast was extra which was not made clear on booking. An improvement in the food would make this place a real gem.

Exactly what it says on the tin. Affordable, friendly, clean and comfortable overnight accommodation. Evening meals were excellent quality. Breakfast a little sparse although we took advantage of the hot menu which filled a hole but wasn't anything to shout about.

The cabin was good for our requirements. Not very attractive outside but a good size and clean. The pub is very popular.. Good for families and lovely food. The continental breakfast was excellent with so much choice it would put many 4* hotels to shame. The owner is very friendly, helpful and wants you to enjoy your stay. A lovely pub.

Not just convenient

We chose the Dog and Partridge just through convenience, but we were pleased with what we chose. The accommodation was exactly what we wanted, clean, well equipped with parking right outside. The breakfast we chose was a cold buffet breakfast which gave us a fantastic choice. The dinner was excellent and the service prompt and efficient.

Lovely stay whilst visiting Alton Towers.

Had a lovely stay with our family of four whilst visiting Alton towers. Our girls loved the garden with the play areas and peacocks and the views were lovely....so green and peaceful!
The breakfast was great with fresh fruit and pastries aswell as cereals, toast and the option of a cooked breakfast too. The dinner menu had a good selection and the food was amazing, especially the desserts! Would definitely stay again.
The room was clean and well presented. The bunk beds were perfect for the girls and the double bed relaly comfortable. Everyone really looked after us, thank you for a lovely stay.
