Nice enough but wasn't really worth what I paid for it. 4 poster bed was rickety and loose, only had half a roll of toilet paper, and the bathroom looked like it was in desperate need of a makeover and bath label was hanging off. Staff were nice but the building and it's facilities desperately need updating.

Every thing was good thanks . But got lock out the hotel .there was contact number for someone to let you in . All you got was number to the main office. Luckily when to the boat inn and the manageress of the boat inn new someone staying that the greyhound hotel that let us in. Just need a direct number for help. Thank you

It's located in a Great location , plenty of things to do and visit in the surrounding areas not to far from here . There's a village called MATLOCK BATH , it's a small Blackpool type area in the surrounding Hills . A must visit . Abraham Heights is located here as well

Historic coaching inn.
Didn't have dinner there but the menu had plenty of choice. Cooked breakfast was very good with lots of options. You won't go hungry!
Our rooms was traditionally furnished with everything we needed. Unfortunately they had some water leaks from the roof and as we had a top floor bedroom we had discoloured bedroom and bathroom ceilings. They need a fresh coat of paint.

The Greyhound is a hotel in a great location for touring the Peak District. Not in the middle of the buziness yet close enough to get there. The room was a little tired, however the service, and the size of the room was great. Fantastic breakfast in the morning with a great choice of cooked breakfast. I had the haddock each morning and my wife had the full breakfast...struggled to finish it all

Staff were so lovely - really attentive and welcoming. Unfortunately we arrived later than planned so missed the chance to eat in house but the staff recommended places to go. It was quite noisy so had windows shut to help. Really good to have fans for each room as it was very hot!
Waste collection at 5:30am collecting glass bottles was a harsh wake up and traffic from 6am onwards wasn't great. However, staff were lovely and really attentive. The breakfast was AMAZING!!!!!! Portion sizes were HUGE so don't ask for extra of anything - by far the best breakfast we've had in ages. Thank you!

A gem of a hotel. A warm welcome awaited us on arrival. We had booked a triple room and it was extremely quirky with a double bed leading to another joining quirky room with a bed. Both were extremely spacious. It was well equipped with kettle, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits etc. The food was delicious too, and average priced. Beautifully cooked and presented. The staff were very polite and helpful. The area is so beautiful too. Little local shops and cafes. Cromford Mills was a few minutes walk and was lovely to look around. We travelled by train and it took us 10 minutes from/to the station. Hope to stay again soon!

Was a lovely quircky hotel, we tayed in the family room wich was very comfortble and the 3rd bed was in a little annexe off the main bedroom which was nice. The bathroom was very spacious which was nice with lovely fluffy towels and the bed was the comfiest bed ive ever stayed in. The staff wete very helpful and polite and always asked were we alright and did we need nything. The food in the resteraunt was lovely and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be staying here again.

Great dog friendly hotel

Fabulous stay at the Greyhound. Couldn't fault anything. We just stayed one night with our dog who was madevery welcome. The rooms arereally spacious which was really nice with tea and coffee making facilities and some biscuits plus some hand made chocolates which added that extra touch. Breakfast in the morning was fabulous with plenty of choice. All of the staff were really friendly and welcoming. It's in a great location witj lots of great walks near by. Would definitely come and stay again.

Service was lovely, on top of what they are doing. Food was amazing and they are always making sure the customers are happy and if there is anything they can do to help the customers, was an absolute delight with my dog, he got lots of attention.

The only con was that the rooms are dated and the furniture seems aged but with the new management hopefully this may change. Will definitely return.

Badly in need of a facelift! Staff super friendly. Food amazing! Bedroom had damp everywhere. Shower and sink overflowed as drains not working properly so bathroom flooded. Road very busy out front so traffic noise had us up at 5am. Some positives but won’t be back.

The traffic was very noisy.
There was a new flat screen TV propped on the suitcase
stand. The old wall mounted TV did not work.
A young man from the bar helped me move the new one as I did not need it.

The accommodation perhaps needs an update and is a bit tired but was very comfortable and endearing in a quirky way.
The staff were very accommodating and friendly. They obviously work very hard at running the establishment.
No complaints with the food and thought the breakfasts were lovely especially the vegetarian option. I would happily stay again, thought it was good value.

We stayed 2 nights Tuesday & Wednesday, we were unaware that there was no food served on Mondays and Tuesdays until we received an email the day before we were due to arrive and also that the Hotel was locked at 10pm Sundays to Thursdays, not just doors locked but the bar was also closed! If we had known this we would not have booked. The room was ok but a bit dusty we stayed in the 4 poster bedroom which was also a bit cold so we turned up the radiators, being February I would have thought that the heating would have been on before our arrival. There was very good food and real ales available at the pub round the corner, The Boat and the two chip shops were also shut on Tuesday so we were very glad that the Boat was open. Although we did not eat at the hotel in the evenings the full English breakfast was very good, warm plates, not greasy and good quality ingredients. Also good real ales were available. We would also like thank Jordan the Duty Manager who was very helpful and polite. The website really needs updating as the extensive Gin Bar was not that extensive and the bar snacks advertised on the bar were not available either. Also we noticed that the hotel website does not have any reviews? Its a very lovely building but some attention to detail is needed in regards as advertising and some dusting wouldn't go amiss!

Pleasant accommodation, great staff.

We enjoyed our 1 night stay at this hotel. The staff were particularly welcoming and attentive, especially the owner. We were upgraded to a family room with a larger bathroom and more bedroom space.
We ate there that night. The meal was good, home-made, filling food and very reasonably priced.
Parking was tricky, but we managed to move the car after a while.

Clearly under new management, and missing a little atmosphere in an area where character offerings abound, huge room well turned out, with good standards, but an empty restaurant and no customers, lead us to eat elsewhere, sadly on the first morning we were informed there was no chef for breakfast, but we were sincerely apologised to, and handsomely compensated, with a little attention to details will make a good venue.

The bar and dining area was comfy and attractive, the bedrooms/bathrooms a little dated but very clean. Unfortunately we had a room at the front and was woken by traffic early both mornings. The room wasn’t cleaned to passable standard, layers of dust on the bed frame, behind the bedside table and on the head board. The shower overflowed if you turned it up to high and a leak from the sink appeared on the floor. The staff changed our room which was better. Breakfast was good plenty of variety and Sunday roast small for the cost. Curfew on returning to the hotel in the evening, though this wasn’t an issue for us. Drinks were cheap. Ok for an overnight stay.

Nice hotel for us good location regarding Matlock and Matlock Bath. We booked a room making sure there was a bath and shower as my wife is on crutches and is easier for her to use the bath. When we got to the room no bath I did not raise the issue as we were only staying one night. We decided to eat at the hotel, the food was ok but nothing out the ordinary. I also felt the price for food and drink was expensive but it was our choice to eat there. Next morning went for a shower and it took 20 minutes to get hot water, there was a sign inside the shower saying please only run the shower at a low power to allow the water to run away but even then it started to run over the side and you were paddling in the water.The breakfast was good and tasty with a good choice.

On arrival, i nipped in to ask where to park, we parked and went back in to check in and no one was there so had to wait several minutes for someone to come out and serve us, even though he knew we were checking in. The room was ok but strange radiator combination with a hole in the wall where the radiator went through it from the bedroom to the bathroom? Also had to prop tv up with a towel. Refreshment facilities were good though. We didnt stay for drinks as it was quite empty but went to a local pub where we had a great night. We were told doors locked at 12 but we were back before 12 and they were already locked. We rang the bell for about 20 mins, no one came. We ended up in our car, thinking we were there for the night but evetually I managed to get hold of someone by phone who let us in. This really needs looking at, you shouldnt have to watch the time in case you are locked out. We didnt stay for breakfast, just checked out. Unfortunately due to the locking door situation we would not return.

No heating - bit chilly at night - no fire. Pizza oven not working - food a little too salty - breakfast takes a long time wairing. Coridoors are a little 70ish - could do with a refresh. Locks on doors are Yale snib locks - bit worrying. I the room we stYed thete was goid sound insulation from outside traffic - but there was no vent in bedroom or bathroom - room became full if condensation. Ceiling was cracked and needed attention.

Has potential to be a great place to stay

Arrived at 8.20pm after travelling all day to be told the kitchen was closed. After a brief discussion was advised chef \"could\" make me a salad. The pub itself had plenty of diners, still eating, and much to my annoyance, after delivery of a very nice salad, I heard the team offering diners desserts and puddings after they'd finished their meals, so kitchen clearly wasn't closed. Also advertised in the bedrooms that the pub served food until 9pm! If the restaurant planned to close early, at the very least, I would have expected a call or message to ask if I intended to eat, as I would have been very happy to order ahead!

After dumping my bags in my rooms, eating salad and headed back upstairs (no offer of desserts or coffee as kitchen had clearly had enough!) I was very disappointed with my room, given the superb rating, (and one of my primary reasons for booking!).. The bedroom was nice, decor good, bathroom ok. Both room and bathroom were chilly, no heat from the radiators. But the biggest turn off were the abundance of spiders, a massive spider in the bathroom, lots of spiders around the window sills of both bedroom and bathroom and lots of cobwebs. My sense is that the room had been cleaned, probably days before, had stood vacant and hadn't been checked for my arrival which was a real shame as the bed linen smelt pretty fusty too. The sheets and pillows were clean. Old building with lots of potential, just a shame as first impressions last!

Greyhound Hotel in Cromford a great nights stay.

My Husband and myself booked for one night at this lovely hotel in the centre of the village, parking directly outside and the parking is free.
Our room was spotlessly clean, with traditional furniture with a large shower and plenty of hot water. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate milk and some biscuits provided in the room, the bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep.
We had a great evening meal but do pay extra to have the breakfast as that was fantastic with a good choice, we had fresh orange juice, coffee, pastries, toast, and a full English breakfast.
From the moment we checked in all the staff were polite and very friendly.
We had come from the Water Sports centre in Nottingham and we’re heading to Chatsworth House and stoping in Bakewell for 2 nights this was the perfect in between stop.

Welcoming and efficient staff. Nice bar/restaurant downstairs. Good meal, and encouraging to see many locals in the restaurant too on a Thursday evening. Room was spacious and the bathroom fittings were modern and clean. But overall the bedroom felt tired and would benefit from a good new coat of paint to freshen it up. A tiny bit of TLC to the bedroom would turn the greyhound into a great little hotel.

Overall ok disappointed as poor main course served sent back the waiter agreeing the fillet steak could not be cut and took more than 10 minutes to be asked if I wanted replacement or alternative by which time my partner had finished his meal. Not our first choice of course already out of steaks at 7.30 . Woke up to a leaking ceiling in the bedroom that filled a 2 pint jug and soaked several towels by the time we had showered to be able to report it. Then to be served two under cooked poached eggs and asked if I would like them cooking a bit more ! On check out was given apologies for evening meal I had been served a lamb rump not a fillet steak (they knew because a stock check was completed )and it was busy and chef had a lot on . No apology for the leak or eggs . The room was nice and complimentary items appreciated and leaks can happen however didn’t feel it was dealt with satisfactorily.

A little gem of a place

Fabulous one night stay. The room was huge, the bed was too and so comfortable. The whole hotel was very clean. The staff were really helpful, couldn’t do enough for me. I ate dinner and breakfast both were delicious and the service was spot on. Only downside was the noise from the road til late and early morning but it didn’t spoil the experience for me. Lovely little hotel with the best bed!

Stayed one night with my fiancé for a little weekend getaway, and all I can say is WOW. The staff were lovely from the moment we walked in, we were shown to our room rather than just directed, and everything was done with a smile. We stated ay the Greyhound for 5 nights on holiday and it was a great find - the room was spacious, the breakfasts great and the dinner options good. It is in a great location for long walks in the Peak District and new to Chatsworth

Excellent Stay Excellent Service

We enjoyed our stay very much. Our room was lovely and we liked the extra touches of bottles of water, crisps and biscuits. The bed was very comfortable. The staff are all very friendly and can't do enough to help. The food is excellent.

Nice hotel parkign was ok but i guess could be an issue if the weather is better. Nice old building so yu have to be prepared that it is not like a new build, Very clean and it can be seen that the staff take some pride in their workplace.

Pleasant communal areas although not any area for guests staying to relax only drinking areas. Room was a very good size but dated and overdue a makeover and not clean extremely dusty. Private parking is limited otherwise it’s public parking immediately in front of the hotel and it’s very busy. Food is pretty average but expensive the boat inn just around the corner is much better and has an atmosphere. Overall very average.

Nice oldie worldly hotel , room clean and comfortable bed , I would suggest 4 star is accurate .

Staff and food excellent.Large bathroom but nowhere to hang towel while in the shower and no rail to hold onto.not much space to put toiletries. I know it was hot weather but we couldn’t even open windows at night.Thankfully we were issued with a fan.

The Greyhound looks wonderful from the outside and that thought carries on inside to, we were checked in and then I asked about the stairs (I’m very bad walking ) and don’t do stairs to much. We were told 39 steps lol and it nearly was, so once up there we stayed. Very nice room and we slept well, breakfast this morning was very good served by a delightful lady. Thank you very much for a restful stay

Great pub and restaurant but stay somewhere else

This was definitely a hotel of 2 halves, the bar and restaurant were excellent but the room and staying experience left a lot to be desired.
The room we booked was a suite with a king size bed and what we got was a room with one uncomfortable chair and a queen size double bed, to make the experience even worse the room was above the bar area and we could literally hear word for word people’s conversation until after midnight when the bar closed. If we could have left and stayed somewhere else we would have done so. The decor was shabby and the shower was broken as well as some of the bathroom cabinets, definitely not value for money at £165 per night.
