Once again i had a lovely time at the New Bath Hotel.
The staff are most welcoming and nothing is too much for them.
The food was amazing and came to my table hot and perfect.
The only downside is that there is no longer any bottled water in the rooms which i do miss and must remember to get some before i get to the hotel.
I also have seen quite a few dogs at the hotel which i have no problem with.

Nice and easy to find, greeted by friendly helpful staff, our room was ok just needs painting lots of marks around the walls, bathroom was clean. Downstairs around the bar was nice, served a good pint of Guinness.
We booked a treatment in the spa section of the hotel along with afternoon tea, very good price for what you get, wouldnt say its a spa you would be pleased to take a bunch of you to relax, hottub was ok, sauna and steam room are past their best, the one bonus is, if your brave you can take advantage of a swim in the famous matlock lido, that was an amazing experience , bloody cold but glad we had a go. I would probably stay there again as its in a great location as a base if you want to visit the peaks.

Hotel building and facilities dirty. Pool was 'freezing' even though described as a thermal one - algae growing on the bottom, giving a lovely green colour. Doors broken, carpets dirty, spa charges £10pp for a garden hot tub. Bedding dirty and ripped with hairs stuck inside. Was given a duvet cover to put on myself. Mouldy bathroom and door. No food available outside of the hours of 5-8pm.

A mixed stay of terrible room and lovely staff.
The hotel needs refurbishment but I don’t forgive uncleanliness and the sweaty smell an unclean carpet on arrival meant I requested a room change which was denied due to capacity that I later found out was a ie which was a huge disappointment. If I can still book online on various websites that means your hotel does have accommodation available and thy could have changed my room! Not good at all.

However the staff are lovely and smiley and went out of their way to be nice to me for my whole stay which o really appreciated.

I wish the management looked at the cleaning and perhaps updating the carpets it would make a huge difference. Some hairdryers in the room would also be welcome.

The room felt dated and not clean. Beds are small and uncomfortable. The family rooms are in a really dated 'add on' to the main hotel. The walls are paper thin so we could hear the TV from neighbouring rooms. It would be nice if the pool had a window of time where the kids could use it especially as the 'family room' looks directly at it. I'm sure I read somewhere that was the case before booking, otherwise I wouldn't have booked. Why have any family rooms at all? Breakfast was basic.

Check in and staff were excellent. Check out, whilst very pleasant, I wasn’t even asked about my stay.

In Room 14, there was only one set of towels provided despite there being two of us staying, so we had to request more. The duvet cover was torn at the corner, meaning the duvet was coming out, and the bedding had noticeable spotted stains. There was also a large gap under the door which let a significant amount of light in from the corridor, making the room very bright at night and resulting in an extremely poor night’s sleep.

The corridors leading to the room felt very tired and in need of maintenance, with paint peeling from doors and walls. Even the fire hose, which was so high up you probably couldn’t use it if you needed to anyway, was covered in thick dust, which didn’t give a great impression.

The shower was another let-down. The water pressure was extremely weak, making it difficult to rinse off properly. The shower head was positioned very low (or the bath unusually high), meaning I had to crouch to stand underneath it. The only positive here was the provision of Dove toiletries, which was a nice touch.

Breakfast was average at best. The hash browns were soggy, seemingly steamed rather than crisp due to the container they were kept in.

Overall, at £116 per night, this stay was extremely disappointing and certainly not worth the money.

Staff extremely attentive. Mattress so bad first night we had to change rooms. Shower didn’t work. Hot water was so hot we had to run the bath and let it cool down! No availability at the spa although didn’t book as we arrived. Breakfast ok. Other room we had booked was tiny. It needs a Radisson overhaul desperately and cobwebs / dusting throughout needs to be better.

Awful place , one of the worst places ever , we stayed in the “Garden Rooms” filthy dirty hallways , I have never seen carpets like it , there is not a single upholstered surface in the entire hotel that is not stained in some way ,no dead locks on the doors which is very odd in the modern era , there is not a single positive in the entire hotel , everything is the room was dusty / dirty. Food in the restaurant was shocking , sent food back twice because it was cold , then they tried to charge me for it after I said I didn’t want anything, I saw Radisson hotels mentioned somewhere, they must of opted into a franchise to use their name as I can’t beleive anyone from the chain has ever inspected the hotel especially the garden room area, looks like a movie set for a 70’s horror movie ….

Room out the back overlooking the garden. Dated, cold and a bit shabby etc in the entrance. Rooms are good overall, bit shabby like the iron mark on carpet, not deep cleaned, bit dusty etc. teas/coffee/biscuits nice. Bathroom although clean was a bit shabby again, ie - hook on door, shower screen doesn’t fit, bath panel broken, ill-fitting toilet seat and watered-down hand soap. Bedlinen and towels spotless and beds comfy. Having a balcony with table is nice outside. Absolute bonus is the outdoor natural pool which is FREE for guests, loved our dip in 17.1 deg on New Years Day!

The problem was the meals.
We went half board and was really disappointed. 4 out of only about 8 main meals were not available. We were told to book in for 7:45 as they finish serving at 8:30... But didn't realise how strict this was. The meals were tepid as if the chef had cooked and then left them, then after collecting the mains plates, we sat for nearly an hour without being offered a dessert menu or any other drinks, and didn't see a waiter again... it was like they just shut up shop and gone home at 8:30.
We were very disappointed with this.

Paid extra for a Superior Room, well if that was Superior then I wouldn’t want to see the others. Carpet was badly stained. The view out of the window was terrible. Spoke to receptionist who said that it was an old hotel so it is what it is. For £198 for one night it was vastly overpriced.

The service and staff were polite and very helpful but I like a bit of luxury when I stay away and this was far from it, I wish I’d booked like a travel lodge for half the price.

The bed was very small and myself, partner and other guests had a bad back in the morning. The shower was terrible, was slow when warm and my partner couldn’t even fully stand under it.

The hotel has a lot of character, so not a terrible stay. Staff go out their way to help you but food is also not of a 3/4 star standard. If you can get a good deal and not £160 like I paid for a night, may be worth the stay…just get ready to do some stretches in the morning if you’re over 30 😅

Paid £178 through Expedia for a superior room after I’d rang the hotel and was quoted £220.
Positives: the hotel is in a lovely setting.
Cons: Filthy and very tired hotel. I have photographs but not sure if I can post them. Stains on the curtains, carpets, bedding, bed base was filthy even the lampshade was stained.
Arrived at 3, it was 10 degrees outside and the windows to the room were open which was fine but it was very cold and I was told the heating doesn’t come on til 4.30. Asked for a heater but took over an to arrive.
We didn’t go in the lido but tried the spa. This isn’t a spa! Changing room tatty, 4 loungers in a very small room, hot tub was more of a warm tub. sauna was freezing even after waiting the ten minutes I was advised and a steam room.
Breakfast - don’t bother. Fat splashed up the walls. Drips down the walls next to the table. Fruit all very old, wisened and soft. Glasses weren’t clean.
Couldn’t wait to get out. Staff very smiley but they need to open their eyes to the tatty, dirty surroundings. Definitely way over priced and needs a total refurb. The bed and bedding in our room needs to go straight to the tip, bedding had holes in and the pillows were very old. If I hadn’t had to stay to be near a sick relative I would have left within ten minutes of arriving.

Rooms were very hot with heater pipes that were very hot and unable to turn off.
The spa facilities were extra charges including further extra charges again for hiring a dressing gown and slippers.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The hotel was in very good condition and very clean.
There was plenty of car parking space and the hotel was just a short 10 minute walk to the shops pubs and restaurants. The heights of Abraham cable cars and railway station were only a 15 to 20 minutes walk away.

Breakfast: asked for a decaf coffee, was only offered Nescafe instant sachets. You don't pay £18 or whatever for a hotel breakfast to get instant coffee just because you ask for decaf, and this has never happened at any other hotel or b&b I've ever been to. If someone asks for a decaf, you go and make them a proper one from a coffee machine or bring them a cafetiere of it to the table!

I enjoyed the stay but there was a few things that were a concern. The backdoors that lead to the outside back car park were not locked at all and doors seems unstable. The rooms were very cosy and tidy but a few things could of been a bit cleaner. And there wasnt much staff around in terms of service.

As usual a fantastic welcome when i got to the New Bath.
I had one of the Balcony Rooms facing the pool, they have been redecorated to a high standard with an amazing shower.
The bar is now open to quite late which helps when you have been out late and fancy a night cap.
The food is lovely and nothing is too much for all the staff.

Starting here on my own as a single woman I felt safe. My room, bathroom and the communal facilities were really clean, although there were signs of wear in a couple of places, for example the bed base. I was in the original hotel, where the building itself could do with some attention in places (window ledges, etc) which I hope they attend to because it's a beautiful building in a wonderful location. It's easy to get to on the edge of Matlock Bath and has plenty of parking.
The pool is *amazing*, and I would definitely go back just to use that again.

Area and main hotel it’s self was beautiful but when got there we didn’t actually get a room in the hotel, we was in a building round the back which was definitely not at nice and very run down, had a completely ripped duvet with a cover that didn’t fit and very hard pillows!! they were in the middle of doing it al up so maybe in time will hopefully be just at nice, overall staff and food was nice and great to be close to all the local attractions

A beautiful old hotel, just outside of the town.
The staff were superb, really friendly and helpful.
The lido and gardens are a treat.
They're in the process of refurbishment, the main building, reception, dining area are lovely. Bathroom in Annex room looked brand new, some of the furniture a little tired as was the outside of this area.
It'll be stunning once everything is finished.

The Annex building is shocking. It’s a building site with stained carpets and furniture, disrepair, mold and rust everywhere.
It is advertised as a luxury hotel perfect for relaxation……I had building work going on under my room for my 2 day stay. The towels were also dirty.
I have written to the hotel but they haven’t bothered to reply. It is shocking!

rubbish shower and windows which don’t close

Upon arrival to our room the sash windows were wide open, we tried to close them to leave them open about an inch and they were screwed so unable to close them, this meant that early on sunday morning there was a lot of noise from the people queuing to get in the outdoor pool.
also the shower in the room had no pressure whatsoever so it was freezing cold and dribbled hot water.
The bed was comfy although it was quite small. Tea and coffee facilities were good in the room.
The room was quiet all night til the morning queues

Great room in the annex, small balcony overlooking beautiful pool. Room comfortable and clean. Could do with more sockets as none near mirrors which is an issue for us ladies! Pool is fab, staff were outstanding (dont forget your swimming hat!! They have plenty to borrow)
Breakfast was ok, decent, not a huge choice but nice, again staff were lovely, polite and helpful. Would recommend.

Parking is on site and very close to the hotel front. Easy and quick check-in. Large open lobby. Staff were polite and helpful. Found the room easily. Quite spacious and very clean. Tea and coffee making facilities were fully stocked. TV was in full working order. Comfy bed and clean bedding. Plenty hanging space for clothes. Bathroom was very clean and modern. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were available to use. Only stayed one night, but would stay again. Didn't have the breakfast and didn't eat in the restaurant, as we ate out in town.

£7 for a sandwich rip off to me. Wasn't anything special
Also the spa was a little disappointing. I paid £90 for manicure and pedicure and within 2 days the jels have broken off. Very disappointed. Also facilities were not accessible or clearly accessible. Staff not having full knowledge of things either.
Will not be visiting again unfortunately.

We were sold a dream. We turned up and was blown away with the main hotel, but to be told were round the back (described as an annex).
As we drove round the back we got more concerned,as it seemed to be leading to a derelict part of the grounds. The building we were staying in looked like a 1970s Butlins Chalet, block that was currently being knocked down.
There was a big area of builders materials, and on the entrance were what can describe as the bins.
The room was ok but felt like we were lower class shoved out the back.
The reception staff would make a great car salesman, he sold us the dream. The reason for booking the room was to celebrate my wife’s 50th birthday, good job she is understanding.

Short one night stop for 60th Birthday. Rooms recently renovated in main building. Elderly parents moved to annex which did not look great from the outside but also recently renovated and fine inside. Had a meal which was excellent although rather slow to arrive. Enjoyed a dip in the fantastic pool in the morning and breakfast was well stocked. Overall, very happy with our stay!

The main selling point of this hotel is obviously the outdoor pool. Yes, its freezing so expect that! Its a lovely area surrounded by grass and some chairs. The inside of the hotel is nice but some areas are showing their age. All in all a nice stay

We were in the 'annex' rather than the main hotel which is significantly less fancy. It's currently being renovated which is great but there were workmen around all day and into the evening, and our freshly painted room smelt so strong of paint fumes.

Will not stay here again

The \"Geothermal pool\" was absolutely freezing and gross! The floor was so dirty. Our room was nothing from what we seen from the pictures on Hotels.com. Very outdated bathroom which had mould and someone else's body hairs. Went down to reception to change room. Breakfast selection very poor. There was lots of people complaining about the service of the spa and other things with the hotel too.

Anything you read about the property being a bit dated... It is indeed true. But honestly, the place is perfectly fine! The beds were comfy, the place is clean, the staff are absolutely lovely. If I paid more I would expect more, but the price is good value I think! Especially given the small spa facilities.

Last minute booking, we were happy to find it as available, nice looking from the outside although I immediately got the vibe that it will be a dated type of property. The reception staff was nice enough, can't fault that. Restaurant was serving its last diners at around 8pm, luckily we had some groceries with us. Upon going upstairs to the room it was evident that the building was in need of some updating, Room itself was a decent size for 2 peole with a double bed, bathroom fairly big but again everything was old looking in dire need of some modernising. Bed itself was dirty looking,due to the fabric that the base was made of, covers looked clean but because of everything around, including a fly and a spider, i didn't sleep very well, especially as we had our 3 year old daughter with us with whom we shared the double bed, it was very tight. Walls in need of a proper do over but otherwise surprisingly quite. Ok if you don't mind any of the stuff mentioned, maybe we would've been more understanding had we paid less on the one night stay. Again, last minute booking in an area that is of high demand so taking the responsibility over our choice of hotel. Would go back if it goes through an update.
