We were in apartment 6 and there was mold/mildew on the baseboards and in the bathroom. Upon entry, there was a musty smell. The bedding was damp. We ended up going to a different hotel for the 2nd night of our stay. We would not recommend The Old Dispensary to stay at unfortunately.

Great location in the heart of Kinsale. Everything is walkable. The studio is beautiful, but the bed is soft, and the kitchen is not well stocked. No pans were oven safe. No paring or chef’s knives. More than a few cobwebs.

We did not have a working key for our room. We emailed our contact and he was unresponsive. We carried our valuables wherever we went. The dignal for the tv didn’t work. Again, the representative was unresponsive.

Lovely big room with plenty of storage. Issues were, not particularly clean, bathroom cabinet in particular. No cover on the ironing board & no remote for the TV. Jacket left from previous guest.

The location is excellent, up a few steps from street level. Bear this is mind if you have suitcases. There is a bar just a few doors away and there is some noise from here at night, but nothing too much and didn't really disturb us. The room we had was large & spacious. 2 chairs would have been better than the one chair. There was tea & coffee provided and a mini fridge in the room. The bed was comfortable with power sockets nearby. The shower was excellent. Bathroom extractor fan was broken and some of the lights were also not working. Basic maintenance items could be improved. But overall, a nice lodge for a few days.

The room was big and fine but we did not know that we had to drag our heavy suitcases up a large flight of outside stairs and a flight inside the building. The towels in the bathroom were quite old and not to absorbent. The shower was very nice, however. The bed was comfortable, and the view from the windows were nice.

Mouldy and dirty

The apartment was a very good size, with an outdoor space, but unfortunately it was unclean, had a significant amount of black mould throughout the bathroom, hallway and bedroom area. The stairwell, entire apartment, bedding, towels and soft furnishings smelt strongly of damp.
We came away with a lot of what look like flea bits

We are disappointed, we feel that the price paid was not reflected in the apartment we were given, as you will see in the pictures a good majority could have been cleaned prior to our arrival

Bed comfortable shower very good
Double room but only 1 bedside locker and 1 side lamp. Room badly needing an upgrade ie paint job as very dated. Towels provided were threadbare. Small outdoor area completely overgrown so useless. Door to ensuite would not close.

The property was very centrally located and we enjoyed being able to walk everywhere. However, the owner took many days to respond via email in the days leading up to our reservation when I had questions, did not provide a fan when our room was very hot, and the cleanliness of the room was pretty disappointing. It smelled of mold/mildew, there were stains on the bedding and towels, and on the last night we heard scurrying in the night (I assume a small animal such as a mouse or such in the attic doors). I would not stay here again unfortunately.

The reason to stay here is that the location is fantastic. The town of Kinsale is a beautiful place for a seaside vacation. The accommodation itself was a little run down and dirty but for the continence of being so close to the centre of town it was worth it. Not an accessible stay, lots of stairs for anyone who has mobility issues.

Truly contactless . Unexpected. Very lovely room. As I was coming from bus I was not expecting no taxis from the bus station. I was unfamiliar with the area so walked up to this hotel. Never saw an person and with some fumbling was able to gain entry to the small hotel Otherwise beautiful

Expensive and not a luxury experience

Water pipes vibrate loudly all the time. Only 1 mug. Very few supplies such as sugar. Bed sagging. Curtain broken. Signs everywhere. Warnings not use make up. Damp smell in hallway. Broken socket behind tv. No welcome pack.

Nice property but way over priced

The room is very large. But there is only 1 chair to sit on and loads of room for a small table and some chairs. The floors are very creeky and you can hear all the neighbouring rooms. This place has great potential in an amazing location, but needs a tidy up. Parking was ok but would be a nightmare in peak season. I learnt after staying that there is a kitchen onsite. It would have been nice to know this before hand. There is no common area to sit and read a book or mingle with other guests. The heaters were not on during the first night and it was freezing. You are basicslly staying in a hostel without any ability to socialise.

The amount of stairs to get to the front door made it difficult to get luggage up and down .
The room was nice

We had issues with WiFi password could not read the handwritten password on paper in hallway . Never got sorted out . But location was perfect o walk to restaurants and shops .

Clean, very nicely decorated, very spacious room and bathroom.
Can only be reached by short walk up the stairs, but this was clearly mentioned in the posting.
Our toilet did not flush. It was repaired the next day, but should have been taken care of before our arrival.

We had a spacious room with a great bathtub. We were able to find street parking easily and could walk wherever we wanted to go. There was a little confusion with the check in only because we did not get the email letting us know how to find the key and get in. There was a nice gentleman there cleaning and he helped us out. I would stay there again and would definitely recommend it to others. Kinsale is beautiful.

Le gros point négatif c'est qu'il a été très difficile de communiquer avec l'hôte. Pas de réponse courriel, pas de réponse à la porte une fois sur place et nous n'avons jamais réussi à téléphoner non plus... Par contre, une fois les informations transmises par courriel quelques heures avant l'arrivée seulement et les clés reçues, la place est super tranquille et c'est vraiment un magnifique endroit qui se trouve à proximité de tout. J'y retournerais probablement malgré tout.

The outside is very poor, I was dreading going inside when we finally opened the front door. The actual room was very nice.
The towels were very worn and old. We also had a bat in the room. Don’t think I’ll stay again.
