Beautiful Hotel in the old Zadar. They have rooms where the reception and restaurant are located but have lot of rooms accross the road in the part that they call the Annex.
We had a room number 4 in the annex. Spacious, nice decoration, spacious bathroom. Safe, fridge. Water, tea and coffee station in the hallway.

The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was modern, with an incredible shower. The location couldn’t be better—right in the center of Zadar’s charming old town, with everything within walking distance. Highly recommended!

Great location, service, and breakfast. Room was advertised as "sound-proof" but you could hear a lot of noise, including the music that plays in the hallway. Loft stairs were creeky and it's easy to bump head on the staircase when standing up from the desk on the first level.

We did excursions and the place we had to meet were minutes away from the Hotel. Excellent location from the old town for shopping and eating. The lady that took care of us at the Hotel was great and a down to earth person. She had a Sassy Attitude and I mean that in a good way. I almost forgot about the great breakfast that was included. This hotel is a gem in the old town of Zadar. The room was spacious, clean with high ceilings and a balcony. The hotel restaurant was superb, had both breakfast and dinners there. Lots of local restaurants nearby and everything is walkable. Would definitely stay again.

Be sure you’re 6 feet tall
Are Croatians all incredibly tall? This might explain why the closet rods are so high that anyone under 5’8” requires a chair or stool to reach the clothes hangars! And what is it about a lack of towel rods or hangars? This hotel is hip, in a convenient location but needs some common sense tweaks.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel. Probably the nicest room I’ve ever stayed in. The service was personable. The breakfast was good but not great. Coffee was quite good. I like that they loaned us beach towels with a beach bag. We would go back again.

This hotel provided the three most wonderful and necessary options for us. First a valet service that took care of parking (which can be difficult). Second a location close to the sea organs (so we could visit often) and close to other historic sites.

Upon check in we met Elena who welcomed us with a great humor. I will never forget her. She made me laugh so much and recall our time when we were in Old Yugoslavia. As we spoke the language, she upgraded our room and gave us the best room she had. The place, the furniture and amenities were newly decorated and beautiful. We paid for breakfast for two with our VIP suite for each morning. However, breakfast was actually provided in the ‘sister’ hotel 1/2 mile away, and in opposite direction of all the sights. Advertisement for breakfast is misleading.

We loved this little hotel. The great experience started with the check-in where the lady working the desk was hilarious and made us feel so welcome.
She even carried our bags to our room for us and was annoyed, when on check out, we had brought our own bags down.
The place was super clean, the beds and pillows were some of the most comfortable we have had, and the coffee, water, etc was well stocked.
The bathroom had been renovated and had a wonderful shower. All in all, I highly recommend this hotel!

Outstanding view to the harbor, very helpful staff, and a comfortable, quiet room. A short walk to the old city and the waterfront. The only issue is parking on arrival. Once I called the hotel, Tony came down and directed me to their lot but that took a few minutes to work out. If you are driving call ahead!

Inconvenience During Check-in
Friendly staff, clean, nice, prime location, good breakfast, but unprofessional check-in process. If they had an electric cart to transfer luggage and guests from the parking to the annex complex (without dragging luggage across the park and streets, potentially damaging luggage wheels and luggage) and a larger TV in the room, it easily rates 10. The Check-in process was not pleasant or easy.

Enjoyable, but just a little disappointing
We were in the annexe, which was nicer than we’d expected from reading previous reviews. (Clearly the entrance hall etc have been smartened up relatively recently). The room was nice, and very tastefully decorated, but lacking a little attention to detail; for example, there is only one comfortable chair to relax in and the blackout curtains don’t pull across the window completely so it was quite light in the mornings. Also, a fridge would have been nice - or at least some fresh milk for making tea/coffee using the facilities out in the hallway. The main thing for us was that it felt more like a (quite expensive) apartment in many ways, as we were rather remote from the main hotel building. We didn’t even get a proper induction, so weren't aware of all that was on offer, including that we could get hold of towels for the beach, for example. The manager was very engaging, but a little argumentative for my liking. On the plus side, breakfast was amazing, and served in a beautiful restaurant or courtyard area.

Almayer Art & Heritage Hotel exceeded our expectations! Perfectly located on the tip of the old town Zadar peninsula, it was close to the sea organ, seaside promenade, and the footbridge across the marina. My two favorite things about this hotel were the beautiful design of the rooms and the delicious breakfast, which was above and beyond what we expected. The service was also impeccable--we got help parking, bags carried to our room (which was in the beautiful annex building), and interesting information about the history of the hotel. I would absolutely stay here again if and when I return to this charming town!
