Very clean, good breakfast ( but hot option limited), very friendly & helpful staff.
Bad points,
Long distance from main road to hotel entrance,( uphiill all the way to reception), no lift from drive to reception (2 flights of steps to carry all yiur luggage up )
NO restaurant or snack bar available on sunday ,So NO food available, no Bar...So no drinks available, only vending machine , crisps & chocolate.
Ive NEVER stayed in a hoktel with NO facilities offered to residents on sunday. Long walk frommain road to hotel reception & ALL uphill on entrance.
NO lift to reception, 2 flights of steps to carry all lugage up.

Breakfast was superb. Venue was beautiful.
No coffee or tea making facilities. A promise of this and signs in hotel saying it was available in communal areas but nothing provided during the 3 days we stayed. Staff member refused to give us tokens for machine in reception and insisted we pay. For the cost of our stay we found this very poor.
Also booked a double room but it was 2 twin beds pushed together with single quilts.

The property was admittedly further out from Cologne than we initially thought but the hotel itself was fantastic with a rail service and bus service bringing you straight to the front entrance. The rooms were perfect for our one night stay and the breakfast we had was exceptional. If I was ever back in this area I would certainly stay here again!

Very pleasant stay

Only stayed the one night due to travel plans. This was a real gem, obviously refurbished and modernised to the highest standard.
The room was spotlessly clean, the staff were all lovely and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the shower great.
The breakfast was great, a really good selection of all sorts to choose from.
Nothing negative to say about this place, ( except for all the rain ) we would certainly return.

Close to Technology Park in BGL.

The hotel is located near Technology Park in BGL. The parking lot is far from property and if you have luggage to carry it will be uphill walk. Then there is no elevator (under construction.. so far). I got the room on the first floor, thankfully I did not have lots of luggage but I can imagine someone with lots of large suitcases will struggle. There is no room service due to corona (as of Oct 12, 2022). The towels are very thin and will be dripping water after first use. My room had a small shower that is poorly designed to allow water seeping through the bottom of the door to entire bathroom and that water will stay there forever. Breakfast is typical German and it is same everyday.

Beautiful building, nice location on a hill overlooking Cologne but very basic rooms, no air-con with 30oC+ so room was an oven. No coffee making facilities in the room, had to purchase a coffee in reception. Could not have dinner in the restaurant as it was for a tour group only, although lots of empty space... had to resort to a frozen pizza in the bar..not very good. The barman was very friendly so I stayed for a couple of beers.

Very imposing location and building, however very much set up as a conference venue. The restaurant for instance was only open to delegates not to \"individual guests\". There is however a very friendly small Bar which serves food (down the stairs marked Toilet)

Clean basic room with no AC

The room was basic although the building is quite beautiful. However during my stay it was over 30 degrees Celsius and there was no AC which made the stay quite unbearable.
It was during trade fair season and the price went thru the roof for such a basic room!

I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel, unless there is no option, because the staff in general is very unfriendly, no smiles, not good vibes at all. The only good thing was the food during breakfast, but with such bad vibes, even the food tastes bad.

Good business hotel with space for meetings

The hotel is in an old castle/monastry and quite large. There's a nice bar in the basement and the feel of the hotel is new and clean.
I stayed just a transit night, but felt calm.
Breakfast was a little too basic, but fresh and quality.
Room was clean, modern but a little small for such a large building.
There is near to nothing in walking area, small village, and cologne is 20 min drive away.

Upon the advise from a previous review for asking for a city view, my wife and I requested this and got it. That day was pretty hot for April standards (22C) and with the sun baking into the room all afternoon the room was HOT with no air con.I would imaging during the summer this place would be a real uncomfortable sweat box! The room was small and stuffy by the standards of what we had had for the previous two weeks travelling in Germany. There was one office chair and a built in desk/ sofa which was uncomfortable and didn't face the t.v.It was all clean and tidy but small.
If you're staying here for pleasure please be aware that this place is set up for business meetings / conferences etc and not really for pleasure. This is very apparent when you go down to breakfast as its like a cattle market with lots of long tables reserved for the next days meetings for companies and tutorial staff etc.Being just a couple we were shown to the side of the room for the few who only had 2 in a group and not 32! Breakfast is ok, a reasonable choice although could never really understand on the 2 days we were there why they had scrambled egg or hard boiled egg with nothing to go with it both times?
The hotel room doors slamming from other guests was annoying and loud especially after 11PM and then from 6am on more than a couple of occasions, some guests had very little respect for others as they talked down the hallways late at night and early in the morning.

On site parking good. Reception staff very helpful and pleasant. Room was spacious and airy and spotlessly clean. Only criticisms I have are small - coffee is often provided in the room elsewhere and would have added to my enjoyment. DVD player in the TV would have been an added bonus. Breakfast was absolutely excellent, and I would recommend this hotel to others.

Good value with a reasonable location.

The hotel is very comfortable and the house keeping was perfect. It is located slightly out of town approximately a 12 minute (up hill) walk from Bensberg railway station (Red line 1) This line will take you directly too and from Cologne center and exhibition location K Messe/Deutz station 30 mins for 4 euro each way. Compared to the other hotels 'at the time' this hotel along with the slightly extra journey was the best value I could find and I would come back here again.

Overpriced and no WIFI

I booked this hotel specifically because I thought they would have a good WIFI as it was very important for me during my stay. Instead it was not working at all. Once in awhile it would be working slowly on my laptop for 5 minutes, then again not working. The signal was too weak to show up on my iPhone but even when standing in the hall where it was strong it still did not work. It is ridiculous that in 2014 all hotels are not able to provide fast, consistent internet for guests. The room itself was extremely small and basic. Overall WAY overpriced for what is received. Price should be around 50 EUR for this hotel.

The shower did not work properly with the water just nearly warm. I was told because of same maintenance but everything was solved, for two days nothing changed, it was a problem with the water mixer ( which I immediately clearly explained ). My room wasn't cleaned and they told me that this service is only under a specific request and this is written somewhere in the room, ok but as 99,9% of the Hotels do not have this approach, you have clearly to tell me this when I check in and not let me discover it by myself, I do not have time to read everything, especially that it is a very rare.I could have dinner in the restaurant because that was reserved for people of a conference...so basically nex time will chose for another one.

Mooi gebouw met bijna nieuwe kamers. Onze kamer was in erg pratisch ingericht. Badkamer perfect, niets op aan te merken. Parking meer dan voldoende. Restaurants: opgelet niet open op zondag en in de omgeving zeer beperkte keuze. Service mediocer: bedden niet opgemaakt, geen nieuwe handdoeken, papiermand niet geledigd - dit kan wel wanneer je erom bedelt, dit alles onder de mom van greenwashing.

Stort og flot værelse. Der var mange trapper op til hovedindgangen og ingen elevator. Der var elevator indenfor. Vi måtte bruge en af fjernparkeringerne, og hvis man er dårligt gående, var det en del op ad bakke. Efter kl.14.00, var det kun muligt at trække drikkevarer og småkager i automat. Undrer mig lidt over at der ikke var en cafe åben med let mad, F.eks sandwich

Majoituspaikka oli historiallinen ja kiinnostava. Huone oli tilava, siisti, aamiainen loistava. Koska toimii koulutustilana, niin käytävät kaikuivat ja tilaa oli tosi paljon.
Saavuimme illalla kahdeksan jälkeen, vastaanotto oli vielä auki, mutta ravintola ei. Pienempi baari oli auki, mutta ainoastaan ohuita pizzoja oli saatavilla. Olivat kyllä hyviä ja palvelu erittäin hyvää.

Wir waren insgesamt sehr zufrieden mit unserem Aufenthalt im Kardinall-Schulte-Haus. Es hat eine sehr einladende Atmosphäre. Das Personal, egal ob an der Rezeption oder beim Frühstück war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Saubere Zimmer, sauberes Haus, gutes Frühstück, ausreichend Parkplätze auf eigenem Gelände.

Contra:
Die Zimmertüren scheinen nicht gut isoliert zu sein, man hört alles auf dem Gang: andere Zimmertüren, Stimmen, Schritte. Auch nachts um 3 Uhr, wenn jemand zu später Stunde in sein Zimmer zurückkehrt. Da besteht Verbesserungsbedarf.
Außerdem wäre es angenehmer und erholsamer, wenn der Check-out um 11 Uhr anstatt 10 Uhr wäre, zumindest an einem Sonntag ;-)

Das Hotel ist auf einem Berg gelegen und die Aussicht auf Köln ist mit Sicherheit einzigartig.
Das Personal ist nett, aber zu anderen ren Häusern fehlt hier die herzliche Freundlichkeit. An der Rezeption erhält man nur Informationen, wenn man konkret nach etwas fragt. Kein herzliches willkommen, keine zuvorkommende Erklärung zu Frühstück, Reinigung, Parkmöglichkeiten und sonstige Infos.
Beim einchecken musste sofort bezahlt werden, was kein Problem aber doch eher ungewöhnlich ist.
Die Servicekräfte im Frühstücksbereich waren auch nett, aber auch hier fehlte, die in anderen Häusern normale, freundliche Art und ein Lächeln, das dem Gast ein Gefühl des Willkommen seins vermittelt.
Das dem Hotel angeschlossene und vom Hotel betriebene Restaurant war leider eine Katastrophe, da wir trotz leerer Gaststube nicht bedient werden konnten, da die Auslastung durch die Tische im Aussenbereich zu groß wäre.
Hier sei angemerkt, dass es \"nur\" Flammkuchen gibt, bei 15 Aussentischen mit drei anwesenden Servicekräften und zwei Köchen.
Es fehlte hier ganz offensichtlich auch der Wille den Gast zu bedienen. Die herablassend Art der Bedienungen bei der Erklärung der Umstände war absolut grenzwertig und schon unverschämt.
Das kann man sich nur leisten, wenn man nicht auf Gäste angewiesen ist.
In der freien Wirtschaft wäre diese Verhaltensweise ein no-go, und absolut Geschäftsschädigend.
Bei der Abreise keine \"gute Heimreise\" und die Frage, ob denn \"soweit\" alles \"einigermaßen\" ok war.

Abseits, ruhig und mit tollem Blick

Die Einfahrt ist etwas versteckt; das Navi hat uns erst einmal vorbei fahren lassen. Liegt schön auf der Anhöhe mit tollem Blick. Zimmer sind eher klein, aber zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Betten waren eher schmal und hart. Frühstück war gut und ausreichend. Auf Spiegeleier muss man aber verzichten. Insgesamt ein schöner Aufenthalt.

- zuvorkommendes aber sehr stilles Personal
- sauber (aber gerne mal unter die Betten schauen) :)
- Straßenbahn fußläufig erreichbar (Fahrt nach Köln ca. 45 min.)
- Fitnesssraum sauber,.Geräteauswahl in Ordnung

Ich war beruflich auf der Messe Köln unterwegs. Die Entfernung zur Unterkunft ist dank mehr oder weniger direkter Autobahnauffahrt sehr einfach und schnell (15 Min). Die ganze Unterkunft erinnert an ein Kloster (vielleicht war es das mal) und hat dadurch einen ziemlichen Charme. Die Zimmer sind ausreichend groß, sehr sauber und mit einer absolut traumhaften Aussicht über Köln. Nach einem Messetag am Fenster auf Köln schauen ist fast wie ein kleiner mentaler Urlaub.
Das Frühstück ist ausreichend, hat zwar keine Überraschungen aber qualitativ ist alles sehr gut.
Die Mitarbeiter waren durch die Bank freundlich und man fühlt sich gut aufgehoben.
