The whole resort is shambles, falling apart, the dive Center does not exist the pool used for dive check is like a mosquito breeding ground, not clean.. needs a complete renovation.. staff not too friendly..

Strong advice donot book the photos are not what you find.. you will be extremely disappointed.. not clean … it is anything but grand …updated pictures for comparison

I loved the cottage and its location close to the pool and beach. Very quiet at night. Within walkable distance to the shops and vendors but i decided to take a taxi, 5 min drive. PADI dive training onsite. I would definitely recommend staying here.

The Coral Grand Resort, as you walk down to your room you walk by parts of the resort half torn down with garbage all around the outside of the building.
We paid for a beach side bungalow, the location was great, right on the beach but when we entered the room and noticed the bathroom was on a lower level as an add on to the building. The bathroom smelled like mold and mildew really bad. The tub was a dirty old wooden bathtub not like the images shown online. The location was great so we thought we would put up with the smell. After finding 5-6 cockroaches running around the bathroom in the evening, we complained to the staff, they arrived at our room with a chemical spray to deter the cockroaches, but they soon returned. Showing the staff the mold and fungus looking growths on the ceiling we asked for a refund on our remaining night, they said it was impossible on their end it had to come from Expedia, but when the request came in from Expedia they said the resort refused to cancel. The resort indicated multiple people have cancelled their stays and it always comes from the booking agency. I talked with others who were staying at the resort and each one of them said the rooms smelled like mold and not at all like the images on the booking sites. I would not book here again and I would hope Expedia and other booking sites would adjust the images of the resort.

I wanted a hut right on the beach next to a dive centre, and thats what I got. However this place really needs some substantial investment to bring it up to the standard it deserves. Daily power cuts, paper-thin walls, tired decor, mediocre restaurant that closes at 7pm, struggling aircon, and staff not exactly motivated. The 5 star PADI dive centre was very handy, and very well run. They were totally understanding when I had to cancel a 6am dive because I couldnt sleep all night due to a rave down the beach. It was so loud you could hear it in Bangkok. Like trying to go to sleep in the dance tent at Glastonbury! Luxury this wasn't, and I was happy to leave.

The hotel is in terrible condition. The door to our room had to be slammed in order to work. The bathroom was not as clean as could be and the shower didn’t drain properly. There was no division between toilet and shower, so the whole place gets wet when you showered.
Reception hours are limited and the guy that works up front is not friendly at all. The grounds could use upkeep and maintenance.
I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!

The property is located away from the main area of load music and lots of scooters every where. This resort is perfect for divers , amazing dive masters and crew , also good for a relaxing atmosphere with excellent breakfast included. If your looking for a party this is not here but you can walk to it. If you want to chill and enjoy all there is to do on Toa then I recommend this resort

This was our second time here. We stay in nov 2017. Nothing much has changed. The roof in the bathroom was fixed, no more holes and mushrooms growing out of it. This part of the beach is very clean, the water is crystal clear and lovely soft sand. Food in the restaurant is ok. Breakfast was good.

First the good: property is located right on the north end kf Sairee beach and is easily walkable to lots of restaurants, beach bars and dive shops.

Now the bad: literally everything else. Of all the issues though, the worst is the mattresses in each room. Out mattress was the hardest, most uncomfortable mattress I have ever “slept” on. I use the term sleep loosely, as I didn’t actually do much of that thanks to the discomfort. We stayed 12 nights and after the first night i was dreading the rest of our stay. I had to ask the front desk for extra blankets to pad the mattress so I could actually sleep. On top of that, there was a rooster (for some reason) kept behind our room which woke me up early each morning. And as if that wasn’t enough, the maids area was also located right outside their window, so we constantly heard their chatter starting at 7:45am every day. I asked to move to a different bungalow after the first day, and they tried to put us in a smaller bungalow, and call it an upgrade. We stayed in the one we originally had because we did not want to downsize. Lastly, if you are trying to use the wifi to do any work, don’t. It’s awful and loses connection constantly. You’re better off using a local SIM card and your phone as a hotspot. Overall I would not recommend this hotel until they make some serious upgrades. However, it did not ruin our trip as Koh Tao itself is an absolutely lovely place to spend some time, even if your accommodations are less than ideal.

Moldy room drapes, strange bathroom, with strong urine smell and has a wooden bath tub that looks/feels very unsanitary. Had to report a broken phone and no wifi few times before something was done about it. The receptionist tried to scam us with the price for a taxi. We had done the same trip earlier for 100 baht p/p, my friend had to go back to the same place within 20 mins and the same receptionist gave her a quote of 150 baht p/p for the exact same trip. Very deceiving place in many ways. Stay away, they don't deserve your business. The taxi boat service and the massage lady are the only 2 positive things in the place.

We booked the best bungalow on the resort. Seaview Deluxe Room walking straight out to the beach. Cannot beat that. Walking 5 metres to resort restaurant. Breakfast although was very average and breakfast staff were somewhat rude and not welcoming. Location was perfect for the wife and i. short walking distance or long walking distance to shops and restaurants depending on taste.

This place was quaint I loved that the rooms were individual little huts! The pool was really nice didn’t like that is closed at 8pm but they all Do over here. Breakfast buffet was middle of the line!! The beach right at hotel was good but they all let there sewage into the ocean right there! The staff was really friendly and helpful! From star to finish nothing short of bliss, free shuttle bus to and from the ferry ,warm welcome at arrival and shown to are cosy little fisherman’s hut close to the pool area and seconds away from the beach. Nice clean hut with all we could need for are two week stay, free tea and coffee and water on hand and small fridge ,shower room clean and tidy. What make this place so special are the staff nothing too much for these guys always on hand and a real smile on their face. Was staying with friends who had a small child who they continually went out their way to look after. Food on site was always of a high quality. Bar area right on beach front was a great place to hang out to watch the sunset. Being at the far end of the beach means you get the best of both worlds quite at night but only two minute walk to the livelier beach bars and hub of the night life. Highly recommend for couples and family’s alike. We will be back for sure.

The resort is in a good location, 10 minute walk to the heart of Sairee village and right on the beach. The staff is amazing, very accommodating and try their very best for you. The rooms are clean, water pressure wasn't the best, a/c comes and goes but they will bring you a fan on request and the bed was hard. Be careful after showering as the bathroom is open and the floor gets very slippery.

Divers Hotel.....poor location , but nice beach

We had an ok stay here at The Grande, the location of our hut was lovely, and the huts are serviceable. However what lets this resort down is the restaurant .. If your ok with scruffy youngsters dragging their feet with a cigarette behind the ear , While they serve food then you will be ok. It wasn't to our taste. If we hadn't prepaid breakfast we wouldn't have gone their at all. It's also a divers resort and is obvious, and while not over bothered by this .....there is nothing else to do there ..it's also out of town and the walk along the dark road is not great ! Would I return ? Def not at the price we paid ..

The resort is lovely, was relatively quiet as most people were there for diving so we often had the pool to ourselves. Room was a good size, nicely decorated with wood flooring and a large bathroom (Sailor's Cottage). Buffet breakfast was rather large and very tasty! Staff were very helpful and the talking bird is just hilarious. Easy access to lots of bars and restaurants if you walk along the beach.
Just a few downfalls but nothing that really impacted our trip; Food served in the restaurant at night was pretty poor, maybe we just had a bad meal because breakfast was lovely. Bare in mind it is a diving resort and there were a lot of divers! They were also training in the pool once for about 30 mins, the instructor was pretty loud and we just wanted to read. Day 2 we had a huge lizard keep coming down into our room from the ceiling (the rooms are only cheaply put together hence the gap) but we asked the staff for help and they had removed it by the time we got back. Whilst the pool is lovely, there were quite a few cracked tiles which were very sharp, the covering on the steps was half broken and there were uncovered lights around the sides. Room wasn't as clean as it should be for the price, nothing major just cobwebs left around the bed and windows in the shower, not very thoroughly cleaned but bedding and towels spotless! Also air con not amazing. These are only slight issues though and really didn't bother us too much!

Coral Grand Resort is a lovely hotel right on the beach, it's at the end of Sairee beach so it's very quiet and great if you want quiet and peaceful time.

I stayed in a sailor cottage bungalow and it was lovely: clean comfortable white bed, hot shower, good AC, tea/coffee making facilities, a fridge. Breakfast was also good.

However, the wifi is really poor in that hotel. It barely worked in my room and most of the times wouldn't even show that there are wifi connections available. It also barely worked at the reception - where there are comfortable chairs to sit on. The only place wifi worked for me was by their restaurant and pool by the beach and when it was late at night, it was not the nicest thing to do to spend an evening on a wooden chair in a dark being bitten by mosquitos just to be able to use wifi while I paid money to have a comfortable room with AC. One evening wifi disappeared completely and at 5pm I asked them what was wrong with it and they said "they will check for me", when I got back to the hotel around 9pm, wifi was still gone and they said they cannot do anything about because it's late ans they have to wait till the morning while they had all that afternoon to do something about it. Therefore, SOME of the staff attitude is not the best there.

Overall, great, lovely bungalows. You should definitely stay there if you think wifi is not an issue for you.

A great hotel with great service and great stuff which will do anything to make your vacation perfect. Everything is like new, rooms are clean and comfortable. Except for some glitch with the cable tv whichwas fixed the next day we had great time. The pool is nice and because its not a big hotel you get to know your neighbours :) which we thought was a plus.

Get what you pay for.

This resort is not the cheapest, nor should it be. Thailand is full of resorts that put amazing photographs online, but disappoint in person. (Online Dating!??) The Coral Grand on the other hand was better than we expected. Our captains room was right on the beach and very clean and spacious. Very nice bathroom! Those can be bloody rare over here. The beach is wonderful,good for kids close to shore and great snorkeling if you swim out to the rocks. We extended our stay after the first hour. Excellent massage right on the beach.

The resort is quiet but a two minute walk up the beach puts you right in the night life of Koh Tao. I really liked this place.

Chilled on the beach

After hectic 3 weeks around Thailand we came to chill, snorkle and dive. The hotel is at one end of sairee beach, far away enough from the partying but close enough depending on your mood. The grounds are well kept and the pool small but lovely. The dive school is very good, always busy but well run with very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant is on the beach and the snacks are good. We had a great time, a love,y end to our holiday. Just to add it is not easy to get to. The ferry port is mad and getting your ticket and on the boat on time is not for the fainthearted.

Overall the hotel is okay, looks good on the photo, but I would say what determines a nice hotel from a fair one is the bathroom. We stayed in a deluxe pool view room, the room itself is like a little cottage, which is pretty cool, but the bathroom is much less than desired. There's warm water for shower, but the shower head is too cheap, the water sprays out with only sprinkles dropping on your body or head, it makes rinsing so much difficult let alone comfortable.
Other than that we liked the restaurant, the location is great too, right on the beach.

Coral Grand Resort - Koh Tao

Despite bad tripadvisor reviews, decided to stay here again due to good location on quiet end of beach. Stayed when this resort was first open and it is still quite similar although a lot more bungalows. Accommodation quite basic but expected - bathroom primitive and shower trickle of water (non very good for hair washing).

Was in Koh Tao this time last year and compared to Christmas time, beach is not as nice - quite wavey and everyday there was an abundance of large trees and branches washed up. Located on a nice stretch of beach and a lot of chairs/umbrellas available for lazing.

Had no problem at all with the staff - found them to always be couteous the little we dealt with them.

Would perhaps look at something down the other end of the beach if I was to go back although would have no problem recommending this resort for basic accommodation.

I paid 4100bath per night for a room which was very basic and very old. for 400 bath more in bangkok I stayed in a double bedroom suite in a 5 star hotel. good location and nice staff, butthe fair price for a room at coral grand would be 2000bath, not more

Quel dommage que cet hôtel ne soit pas aussi bien entretenu qu il le devrait . L emplacement est idéal pour des personnes qui apprécient être au calme loin du tumulte du centre de Sairee .Le personnel est serviable et discret .J ai adoré ma chambre . Pour le restaurant ,j ai préféré manger à l extérieur ,j’y ai juste degusté des noix de coco fraîche sur un transat au bord de l eau .Paradise☀️

Really really REALLY worn down. Worst hotel I have slept in the last 25 years. Price is WAY too high compared to quality of hotel. Everything was grand 30 years ago, but it should not be called grand anymore.
We stayed in the captain suite, but nothing like a suite about this “AC bungalow”. The fridge didn’t work and smelled really bad.
When my daughter walked on the floor even the beds are jumping. Crazy hard beds. WiFi did not work the last 1,5 days. Shower did not work 3 days, it was raining into the bathroom. Diving center closed. Expensive prices in Restaurant. It’s hard to swim in ocean because of low tide and many many boats.
They start sweeping outside our door at 7:00. And continue for +2 hours at least. Very noisy. its like sleeping in at tent regarding noise. You hear everything.

Recommend using bathing shoes in pool, many sharp edges that can hurt you.

Only 2 good thing with this place. Temperature of the pool is the best I have tried in Thailand. And the huts are located 500m ish away from the bars playing music, so it is possible to sleep. (You can hear the bass though)

Never coming back to this hotel again.

Les plus: Personnel de l'hotel gentil. Plage magnifique a distance de marche. Ville a distance de marche. Lit ferme. Navette gratuite traversier/hotel hotel/traversier. Si vous aimez les animaux il y a beaucoup de chiens, chats, oiseaux, reptiles.
Les moins: mal insonorisé.Beaucoup de consommateurs de canabis fréquentent cet endroit. La fumée entre dans la chambre. Beaucoup de touristes très drogués en ville. Surveillez les prix au restaurant de l'hotel car ils peuvent changer sans preavis. La dame a la caisse du restaurant dormait et etait malade (toux, eternuements, se mouche sans se laver les mains et apporte mon assiette). Chambre sale et désuète. Problemes avec chasse d'eau et ecoulement de leau dans la douche (ont etes reglés rapidement).

Typisch geval van vergane glorie. ideaal resort als je wil duiken. Heeft eigen duikschool. Walkingstreet prima aan te lopen. Resort is alleen waarschijnlijk 50 jaar geleden gebouwd en daarna niet veel meer aan gedaan. Slecht sanitair, prima bedden.

The "resort" is so old and tired, everything is falling apart, and it looks like it has never been maintained.

At the pictures everything looks ok, but they must be about 25 to 30 years old.

Should have stayed for 9 days, but hotels.com was nice and managed a cancelation after 1 day.

Hotellet ligger nydelig til rett ved Sairee beach. Området er opparbeidet med fin beplantning og basseng. Bungalowene er romslige med egen veranda Hotellet tilbyr også gratis skyss til piren to ganger om dagen.

Dessverre svarte ikke alt til forventningene. Det er potensiale til forbedring av små ting som kan høyne inntrykket en del.

Gammelt og ødelagt kjøleskap, mugne madrasser ved bassenget, lite trykk i dusj og bråk fra arbeid på området. Personalet var som regel imøtekommende men vi opplevde at ved forespørsler i resepsjonen følte vi oss til bry.

Wir haben uns in diesem Hotel leider gar nicht wohl gefühlt. Der Empfang war sehr kalt, die Räume sind wirklich alt und schäbig eingerichtet. Der Strand ist leider eher unsauber. Das Restaurant schliesst um 19 Uhr..? Wiso?
Wir haben das Hotel nach einer Nacht gewechselt...
