The bed was very hard. Extremely firm.
Very uncomfortable for sleeping. The pillow too.
The toilet was built up on some sort of a pedestal. Like 30 cm above the floor.I felt like I was going to fall off every time I sat down.
There was a single step up to the sink that had a big opening in it. Very dangerous specially at night when dark. A very bad design.
The air conditioning was not controllable. Either fully blasting on or nearly off.
The restaurant food was delicious. The views were fantastic. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Walking up the long stairs, like a ladder to the cabana was dangerous to an old man like me.

I fell in love with the hotel. Its location was perfect, away from the city & night life noise, right on the beach, with delicious breakfast included, and most importantly only three minutes away from the Coral Grand Divers PADI office. The service was amazing. Drinks and snacks were included in the room bar, daily shuttle to and from the city. We forgot one of the backpacks in the shuttle when going to a different island, and they delivered it to us before we started boarding the ferry. I’d give them A+ and def would stay there again and recommend it to others.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Koh Tao Cabana Resort. The staff were very professional and helpful before and during our stay. The hotel offers a free shuttle to and from the ferry which was great. We stayed in a villa with a deluxe patio which was beautiful and had a great view. The resort was breathtaking and staff were very friendly and kind. Breakfast was included in our stay and the restaurant was such a beautiful way to start our day. We loved the location because it was quiet and peaceful but still an easy walk down the beach to lots of lovely restaurants and bars. The beach at the resort was spectacular. So calm, clean and peaceful. We would highly recommend!

A very hospitable resort. We were given a free shuttle service from the port and then greeted with complimentary refreshments. We were also unaware that breakfast was included so this was a nice touch.

Amazing service from the staff and our room was lovely. I’d definitely recommend a sea view cottage. What a great spot to snorkel as well!

The resort worked well for us as we did not hire motorbikes and we could easily walk along Sairee beach which has some great spots. It was nice to be able to see our resort tucked away at the top of the beach where you feel a nice distance from the main strip.

The only downfall would be that you can hear music from other bars along the beach late into the night, stopping about 2am.

We recently got back from a 6 week trip to Thailand and Cambodia. The Koh Tao Cabana Resort sticks out as the nicest place we stayed in Southern Thailand. The cabanas and surroundings are gorgeous, and the location is perfect. Quiet northern end of the beach but a quick walk to everything.

Excellent customer service - the front desk staff are extremely accommodating, close to the main strip (short walk along the beach ~10 min walk), great breakfast selection (all included) and beautiful beach. This hotel is beautiful. It is up the quiet end of Sairee Beach but close enough to walk in to the action. The rooms are beautiful - just like the pictures. The restaurant is lovely - great food and a wonderful breakfast assortment. Both buffet and a la carte. The pool is lovely and there are great Cabanas to lie on at the beach - which is basically private being that it is at the end. Would thoroughly recommend. Great pricing for what you get also.

An oasis

This is a very unique place filled with details both outside and inside. It is a very private feeling resort though you are a 5 minute walk from Sairee beach, shops restaurants and diving centers. I would highlight the magnificent staff. They obviously love what they do and it shines through your interactions with them as a guest. The beach at the resort is on the far end of Sairee and almost feels private. The restaurant is good as is the complimentary breakfast. I will be visiting again.

My husband and I honeymooned in Thailand, spending half of our time exploring the mainland and half of our time on the islands in the gulf of Thailand. Our stay at Koh Tao Cabana was a highlight. Our room, an ocean view white sands cabana, was perfect. It was a quick walk to the beach, restaurant, and right by the pool. Quiet and romantic.

We didn’t intend to but ended up eating all of our meals at the restaurant. The price was okay (high for Thailand, low low low for home) but the food was excellent, there was a wide range of options- Thai and western cuisine, and the view couldn’t be beat. I went diving with Coral Grand Divers which was a 4 minute walk from the door of our room to the dive shop. It was overall an excellent stay and we absolutely loved our choice to go to quiet and romantic Koh Tao Cabana vs the chaos that is the rest of Koh Tao.

Amazing place to stay!

What a great place! The resort is at the north tip of the beach, the rooms nestling discreetly in the rocks and trees. An ideal location for being away from the hustle and bustle of the main bit of Sairee beach but close enough to wonder along the beach for 5-10mins if you want to eat somewhere different or book a trip or something. Slight downside is despite being some distance away, there is a bit of noise at night but not that loud and doesn’t disturb sleep or go on too late. Anyone who criticises the resort because of this has unrealistic expectations about Koh Tao. A large number of visitors are young and/or into diving, it’s not a chic place full of high-end resorts so go somewhere else if you want that. But if you want gorgeous rooms in a fantastic setting at a great price (you’d spend 2-3x as much elsewhere) then I’d really recommend it. My son was ill during our stay and the staff were so caring and helpful

A beautiful jungle oasis

This is a beautiful hotel set into the rocks and jungle. It has a wonderful feeling of being secluded but within walking distance to the centre of koh Tao. Inaccurate description - would not recommend.

After getting married in Samui the week before, we wanted to stay somewhere nice as a treat. The fact this accommodation is listed as a 4 star is simply not accurate.

The resort is dated, photos on booking sites showcase the beach view villa’s which are far more superior. The restaurant service is terribly slow, but the staff are always friendly & helpful. We had dinner there on our first night. I received a starter that looked similar to what I ordered - no sign of my husbands starter. Shortly after, out came two starters, meaning they had given us one by mistake. Later, my main course arrived & we waited 45mins for my husbands duck curry. When they finally bought it out after some chasing, they said “we’ve ran out of duck, so this is pork”. They never asked us if this was okay. Upon check out, the mistaken third starter was actually on our bill and no sign of a promised 10% discount after the mistakes through the night.

The pathways are very overgrown - if you’re not fond of wildlife (I actually had a snake drop in-front of my feet - no joke). The resort has so many steps, you’ll be out of breath walking to your room in the heat. The views however, are absolutely incredible and the sunsets are beautiful. The pool towels smell musty, they’re torn & bleached in places. The amenities list a pool & beach bar - which doesn’t seem to exist.

The resort is okay, great staff when you can find them. We would’ve rather have stayed in a hut on the beach than spent the money here

We loved this property! We stayed in the sky cottage. It was a fair walk to get up to the room, but worth it for the ocean view. The staff were amazing. It was easy to arrange for laundry service, food/beverage service on the beach, and even yoga sessions. You can still hear the beach bars at night, but it is as quiet as it will get on the island while still being walking distance to restaurants. Would recommend this property for sure!

This resort will instantly bring a smile to your face. It is so beautiful aesthetically with each villa style possessing its own distinct beauty.

The outdoor showers, complimentary breakfast and work out classes were some of the highlights for me.

But the absolute best is the staff here, they work so hard for you to have a wonderful time and are always happy to answer any questions. I extended and moved rooms, when I came back from the beach my bags had been relocated without my having to ask.

That’s the type of thing that gets you 5 stars.

We stayed in the family villa - we had our own pool with an amazing view - excellent price by western standards - the staff are lovely and work hard to please - restaurant had very good food - we also ordered room service which was great and quick - plenty of bottled water

We loved the villa - it’s rustic and getting a little tired - but the AC worked well and it was spacious - beds were good - bathrooms interesting - we had a waterfall in one - and a monster tub (we didn’t use it) in the other - we were careful to use mosquito netting at night and keep doors closed - we would come again and hope to in the not too distant future - one issue for light sleepers is the bar and show way down the beach has a nightly show with bass that travels out to cabana - they have ear plugs for those that might be disturbed conveniently in bathroom - but it didn’t bother us

On arrival to the property late we we created and our bags taken to our grass hut. Many stairs and steps away. It was dark and so we just followed. After entering the room it was clear that there was several steps that could and did cause problems with footing due to lighting and slippery when wet. I asked to be moved but was told an outrageous price increase even though on Expedia the room rate was only $16 US more a night. With no chance to move or get our money back we stayed. Did not spend much time at the hotel but would not recommend it to anyone. I am sure there has been people with the same issues but it has not been reported. As this place has a high rating and nothing said about the stairs.

Really enjoyed our stay. The villa was beautiful with a stunning view. Brilliant location at the end of the beach so you’re a 5 minute walk to restaurants/ bars/ shops but even closer to the beach! Because it’s at the end, it has a peaceful/ private beach feel to it.
The only negative which is a positive really, is that they had so much to offer: free round trip shuttle to the pier (they wait there when the ferries come in, we saw they sign and were hugely relieved not to have to find a taxi but didn’t know this in advance), they also offer very cheap hire of snorkel equipment, life jackets and kayaks for a very small daily fee, which is excellent and we loved so I feel they could advertise it to save time enquiring :)

Koh Tao Cabana is amazing. The best hotel on the island at super reasonable prices. The hotel staff are really helpful and really make everything as easy as possible. Great place for couples and it's so nice to be away from the rest of the hotels. Would be nice to be a bit closer to the other restaurants and bars but you can't have both. What you get with free breakfast is amazing! I can't stress how beautiful Koh Tao and Koh Tao Cabanas are!

Lots of problems starting with the room. We paid for a view and we could barely see it through the trees as our room was set towards the back. Not only that, the room was dark, badly lit and could do with redecoration. We actually thought we would ride the 4 nights out and not complain, but as soon as we heard the rats running around in the roof we complained. It was a painful process at reception and we were met with a guy with a bad attitude and he should be working away from customers. We eventually moved for our last two nights to a proper sea facing room that was to our satisfaction and what we originally paid for.
The beach is very different to the pictures on the internet. The sand is corse shingle and dark brown so if you want the paradise beach you see on postcards, this is not for you. That said, the tropical trees and setting is certainly nice and we enjoyed it once we settled in. The wooden beach beds are old and need replacing and the towels they give you are small and old.
The main problem here is the lack of management and attention to detail. This could be a superior resort, but the place lacks any luxury elements and relies solely on its beach location. It needs investment and to truly understand what guests want and expect from a 4 star resort.
Investment in people is also needed as we were treated badly, especially after they ruined 4 shirts when we used their laundry service.
I wouldn’t recommend this resort and I won’t return.

First the good things...hotel well situated; good restaurant with great waitresses.Now the bad...room very small with insufficient wardrobe space and plug points. I had 3 different WiFi codes in 3 days! there was a power outage; the hand basin had only cold water.
Also we arrived 2 days late due to the tropical storms and to try and get a refund was like pulling teeth!

Good hotel // resort, arranged on a beach and a hillside, if you have any mobility issue you need to ask for beach level room. The hillside is quite steep. Rooms are lovely and well maintained each is a detached villa type. Breakfast is good with a reasonable range of options. Service is always with a smile. The resort is at the end of the beach which means it's quite enough for a good night's sleep. Even though activity and partying is probably less than half a mile away.

Lovely location right on Sairee Beach. We stayed in the Ocean view Cottage which was nice but lacked basic facilities like a hand soap. Service was lacklustre. Being charged for a bucket of ice in the room was surely disspointing. Dimly lit rooms was another drawback of the cottage. Breakfast was average. Some of the staff at Rim Lae restaurant was very impolite at times.

Firstly we stayed in one of the Whitesand Ocean View villas (you could just about see the ocean). Villa No.1 is the one to request, we were No.2. The room was very comfortable and spacious, well located - near the beach, restaurant, pool etc.

The resort itself is a bit out of the action of Sairee (about 10-15 mins walk along the beach) which was ideal for us. It can be a bit noisy in the evening with the local bar music revurbitating around the bay but it’s not too bad.

The restaurant offers spectacular views across the bay so it’s well worth booking breakfast with your room. Perhaps a little pricey compared to other places in Sairee town, but well worth a few drinks / meals to take in the location and view.

Above all, the staff made this stay for us. The hotel clearly looks after them as many have been there for years. They all seem really happy and enthusiastic, which is reflected in how well they looked after us. A number spoke good English, and offered lots of advice and tips.

Overall we had a great stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Resort was beautiful! We didn't want to leave. Staff was so friendly and helpful (though English wasn't 100%). The guy working the beach even recognized us to tell us to hurry up to get to our ferry transfer! Getting picked up / dropped off at the ferry made our travels so much easier. We loved our cabana! Amazing views and awesome to have a private terrace with lounge chairs and a hammock. Like most hotels, AC turns off when you leave so it's warm in the room when you return. Outdoor shower I could have done without, was always warm and a bit muggy. Was a little far from the center of town but still very walkable. Breakfast views were incredible! Food was good not amazing. Would love to return here!

Simply amazing!

This beautiful hotel exceeded our expectations! We stayed in the Deluxe Villa and had the most amazing time, the villa was large, comfortable and was well equipped with everything we needed. The view from the large, fully covered deck was magnificent. Whilst there were a few steps to reach the villa it was well worth the lovely walk amongst the gardens & natural rock forms. Breakfast was tasty & plentiful with beautiful smiling staff- a great way to start the day! The beach was swept clean every morning and the property is well maintained. The stunning pool was kept at a pleasant temperature - not too hot but also not too cold. It was an easy 10 min walk to the town of Sairee where you could find mini marts, great restaurants, shops and bars. Located at the quieter end of the beach it was perfect for us. Will definitely be back to stay at Koh Tao Cabana again!!

We stayed in the tree house.
Was such an amazing apartment, own massive balcony, living room and shower looking out over the jungle and sea.
Mini Bar prices weren’t ridiculous, pretty much the same as any other bar on the island, if not cheaper.

It’s a steep walk to the room and the staff bounced along up the path with our heavy luggage. They certainly earn a generous tip just for that.

Laundry was cheap and done within a few hours.

Would recommend this hotel and in particular the tree house, well worth it.

We stayed in a cabana 'White Sand Tree Top Villa' and it was really nice. Very spacious and bed was comfortable. There were villas on the hilltop overlooking the beach that looked amazing - wish we had stayed there, not sure what they were called. Restaurant at the resort was nice and spa was great - had a good massage there with discount from the resort. Location is at the end of sairee beach, easy walk on the beach into the main town. Overall, great resort.

Don't stay here! Not clean and bad management

I was so excited to stay at this hotel. When we checked in it looked so beautiful but soon learned that the reviews we read online about bad staff and unclean rooms were true. When we checked in my partner saw a mouse in the bathroom, and we couldn't find it so the worker said they would look for it tomorrow. We were not happy to have a mouse in the room but then 30 mins later found mouse poo under the pillow! We went to call reception at 10pm and the overnight number but no one answered so had to sleep on this tiny couch the whole night as didn't want to sleep on the bed. Was the worst night. The next day we got moved to another of the rooms but they also looked dirty so we asked to go to another room (it was a brown villa close to the sea) and got the whitesand villa which looked a lot cleaner. We were happy with this room but they never cleaned it in our entire stay! Just dropped the towels off but didn't clean? The spa though is soo amazing would recommend going here even if you aren't staying. The breakfast was pretty good you got to chose out of 8 options and they would cook for you and then they had thai breakfast options and fruit also. Also hotel has a gorgeous sunset deck and beautiful views, you could just explore the property if you didn't stay here anyway as it is very beautiful just not clean or well cared for

Romantic stay in paradise

Beautiful property, but uncomfortable

The resort itself is beautiful, and it is located close to great snorkeling just off the hotel beach. There is also a great restaurant on the property. The bed, however, was very uncomfortable. Additionally, the cabana we stayed in felt a bit primitive, with the shower portion being outdoors from the sleeping area.
The individual cabanas also did not have WiFi, and you had to go down to the lobby area to use the WiFi.

The biggest issue was that there was music playing very loudly across the beach every night until 2-4am, making it very difficulty to sleep. I'm usually a heavy sleeper, but I had a lot of difficulty sleeping due to the noise, even with the earplugs the hotel provided.

Not the best service from hotel staff. The hotel is run down at best. The rooms are HIKE and climbing gets dangerous at night because there isn't a enough light. The wifi only works in certain areas or sometimes doesn't work at all. The breakfast was good but that was pretty much it. Overpriced honestly.

Overpriced and rude staff

The staff was extremely rude with no patience or willingness to accommodate. Everything we asked for was met with a \"no\" even before we finished asking (the opposite experience we had in other hotels in Thailand). A good example is we asked to have a late check out and they wanted to charge us 50% of the rate when the hotel was basically empty. Another example is we asked for a taxi (and be warned taxis are expensive in Koh Tau) and the man at the front desk said it would be 400BAT for 2 but the taxi driver said 500, something we wouldn't have agreed too. The hotel took no responsiblity and even didn't apologize. Their attitude really took a toll on us because they literally had no flexibility with anything or even a smile on their face.

The bathroom in the rooms is outside and though it might seem cool, the coolness wears off and you want to have a clean indoors bathroom. The decorations are tackey but very important to know that everything is a hike! Lots of climbing to get to your room and at night there aren't enough lights so you end up tripping on the block stairs they built. The pool was under construction, something that wasn't implied when we made the rservation and though it was told to us someone worked at the beach, we never saw any staff working there. The best part about this place is it's location but honestly save your money because staying in a hostel is better theb this place at the rate they are changing. Would not recommend.

Perfect paradise

Koh Tao Cabana was so perfect for our honeymoon and any holiday. Just off the beach in a quite part of the beach but easy enough to walk to all the bars & restaurants. Will be coming back for sure hopefully in next few years.

All looking very tired and not kept up.

Pool area untidy and not attractive. and in desperate need of complete overhaul .
Restaurant has no atmosphere and again in need of decoration and maintenance .
The Staff were helpful but when busy only one person we found who understood English.
The Wi-Fi system was very patchy and only worked for us in the Reception area.

Great Spot! Will definitely return for longer

On an island that has a great groovy vibe, this is a truly nice play to stay. Lovely little Cabana units. Great beach, pool, \"sunset deck\" and \"snorkel deck\", plus a good breakfast. Definitely upscale compared to other places in the area. They also picked us up and drove us back to the ferry (included). They made you feel like you are staying at an upscale boutique hotel.

Because the units are separate, and built on the side of a hill, there is a good walk up and down to the units, so this place would not work for folks who have any physical limitations. Definitely not wheelchair accessible (the topography is a good part of its charm...)

We picked the hotel knowing it was a bit quirky but for its location close to Sairee beach for life, yet quiet enough once back at the room. That is exactly what it was. Big negative was that the hotel had incorrectly got our booking down for the wrong room type when we had paid to upgrade. They initially said they could not help and we needed to sort out via hotel.com - who were excellent. Hotel.com had done nothing wrong and contacted the hotel to sort. The shame was that the pick of the rooms with excellent sea views which we had paid for, had gone and while we eventually got the right room type (after 2 hours of hot walking up and down to rooms, phone calls) but not such great location. No snorkelling equipment available as advertised. Rustic feel but disappointing small things like waterfalls not running spoilt it. Mosquitoes much worse at this hotel than others in same weeks making the balcony un-usable - covered in bites first two days. You need to bath in repellent at all times. Breakfast very good. Hotel staff very pleasant. Complimentary massage was a nice surprise and much enjoyed. Sairee beech and strip is great for a livelier night and plenty of choice of bars and eating places. Exactly what we expected. Nang Yuan is beautiful for a day trip (take your own long tail boat) but spoilt by the volume of people.

The Koh Tao Cabana is a lovely place to stay but the package does not include an overnight stay in Koh Samui and a return ferry journey to Koh Tao - the only way to travel to the island.

they stole 150$, that was in my passport and then I ask for to see the video of CCTV cameras they told me to go the police station. I walk 20 mints and I came back with the police, and when we got there they told the police the CCTV cameras don't work.

The best accomodation we had in our trip

this is an amazing place to stay. we planned to stay 2 days and stayed 4 days, as we didn't want to leave such a fabulous place. the vilas are HUGE and beautifully designed, with all furniture and decoration made of a heavy Teak wood. separate TV section and a place for everything. the hotel is located in a beautiful private beach. hotel restaurant is on a terrace with magnificent views of the entire bay. location is perfect. you can have a nice 15 minutes walk along the coast to the main entertainment part, passing many bars and restaurants along the way. we couldn't have found a better place to stay. No wonder that after such a place all other accommodation seem inferior.

Nice beachfront hotel

Had a great stay at this hotel. Had 2 rooms, the smaller one has outdoor shower, which I'm so jealous of (I had the bigger room with massive bathroom inside). The hotel is located directly on the beach, has nice cabanas and the breakfast location overlooks the beach.
Location is about 7 mins walk from the restaurants and shops and the street gets quiet at night. Hotel charges quite a lot for a ride to the town and doesnt have a free shuttle.
Breakfast is nice, lots of varieties of bread as well as local food.
