The view was fantastic! The receptionist was excellent. The apartment we stayed in had a couple of window shutter problems. One was ready to fall off its hinges and the other took us a long time to get closed.

The view was beautiful, a peaceful place; the staff was friendly and courteous. It's not hot on this side; it's very breezy. The internet was not good for using the TV, and the stove sometimes wouldn't turn on. The reception guy came a few times to help us. Those two things could be improved.

Zavier was AMAZING!! Answered all questions and had excellent suggestions for dining etc. It is a very isolated area though with no bars/restaurants around and the roads to the other side of the island are sketchy to say the least If you’re looking for quiet with a beautiful view it’s a great place to stay If you’re looking for dining/nightlife options you should stay on the West Coast

Our stay was fabulous. Being on the north east party of the island was perfect. We had a car and could drive to great beaches and the wildlife reserve and flower forest. We went to Oistin's Friday Fish Fry and toured the cotton mill. And in the evenings, we could relax back at our room.

We enjoyed a weekend at Santosha! Our room/apartment was very spacious with a lovely porch which had furniture to eat and sit. The friendly reception person, Xavier, was very attentive to our needs. The views of Walker's beach and the coast from our place were spectacular. We are pleased to have picked Santosha for our staycation while we were long term visitors in Barbados! Please note, having a car is almost a must if you want to see the country from there, or get provisions. Although, Santosha offers food package delivery if you don't have transportation.

We really enjoyed our stay at Santosha - it was so peaceful and great for exploring the less touristy spots on the island. The facilities in the room were excellent and the pool area was nice. Our only complaint was that there weren't more facilities available on the complex, such as a bar and restaurant.

I stayed here twice and was satisfied each time. We had a bit of trouble operating the stove and had to call for assistance. The response was prompt.

Felt like we had the place to ourselves (other than the stomping above us). Bring your own coffee if you don't like instant! They provided a french press and coffee maker and filters but we could not find decent coffee. Good wine impossible to find also.
MAKE RESERVATIONS at local restaurants! There are only a few area resturants and they all require reservations and stop seating early, especially on Saturdays. Roundhouse has music Saturdays from 1-3. If you miss dinner anywhere else, go to De Garage and you will get the basics.
I rated Santosha a little lower on service just because no one engaged with us. It was nice to be left alone but for example, our arrival was delayed to a flight so I contacted the hotel. The guy said he would be there until 6. We were later than 6 and I called three times and got VM, then started to wonder what plan B would be. He never said he was going to leave the key. That would have made me feel SO much better!
I loved that they had a good asortment of tv channels!
Suggestions:
I could see this being a great place to have a pop up meals, so if they said to guests, these days we will have a Bajan meal served in the club house it would have been awesome and we would have paid to not have to go into town!

This was a mother daughter trip. We had an amazing time. Things to note if you decide to stay at Santosha. It is a remote location, so great for peace and quiet. I recommend renting a car to get around. We also went to a local grocery store to get breakfast stuff. Nice, clean, comfortable rooms. The only down side to me was the hot tub was not hot.

I really wanted to love Santosha. It’s on the east coast, which most people never get to. The photos make it look intriguing and I wanted to be a little adventurous. But I guess I should have done more research, and my expectations would have matched what we found.
First, the good stuff. Reception and staff were really nice. Bed was very comfortable. Good wifi. Rooms had nice patio/balcony facing the ocean. General area was quiet. There is a big propane Weber grill available - we used it. If you have a car, you can go to various sites in the interior, and also to Speightstown, about 15 minutes away.
Now the downsides. Above all, it is really remote. You’ll need a car; if you don’t have one you are totally stuck. The ocean is much further away than the photos suggest. And anyway it’s totally useless - you can’t swim and there are huge mounds of smelly seaweed everywhere. The pool is tiny, like most pools at Barbados hotels. Photos are distorted - don’t be fooled! Lounge chairs weren’t very comfortable, and neither were the chairs on the patios. In the evenings you’ll get eaten by mosquitos. Even though the rooms looked really nice, they were arranged in a strangely inconvenient way. Dishes were under the counter - no cabinet space above the sink/stove. A small bureau for storage. No comfortable chairs or loveseat in the rooms.
Bottom line - if you need a crash pad after you spend all day exploring, it’s perfect. If you want a Caribbean beach experience, this isn’t it.

The place is gorgeous! Set up on a hill overlooking the mountains and the ocean, it feels like you are staying in a tree house in the jungle. It is a 2 min walk down to the beach and there is a bus stop right in front where you can pay $1 USD to go 12 mins into Bathsheba or $1 USD to go 15 mins into Speightstown. The WiFi was fast and the place had good A/C, although I think ours wasn't getting as cold as it could. There is a $5 USD balance upon arriving for a tourism levy? I was caught off guard by that as I think it should be included in the VRBO balance and it was never mentioned. But overall the staff was very friendly, we paid the $5 no problem, and had a wonderful stay :)

Santosha is a hidden gem. I stayed here for a few days on a 2 week trip. A very warm welcome was received and staff could not have been more helpful. From the hotel room patios and verandahs, the east coast beaches looked absolutely spectacular! It’s worth coming for these views alone!
While the sea tide currents on much of the east coast are too strong for swimming - the beaches are beautiful to stroll along nevertheless.
My room was lovely with clear attention to detail in the design. A wonderful place to relax all in all - I will return!

If you want privacy this is the hotel for you. Before my trip I was hesitant because of the location. I felt like it was too far but I was wrong. The country is very small so driving back and forth was not a problem. The hotel is on the East, also the country side, of the island and to me it is the most beautiful side.

However, we couldn’t find anybody that work for the hotel during our stay, except for the check in. The shower was not working properly, very hot only, we emailed regarding it but nothing was done. Also the room wasn’t cleaned everyday.

Staff are excellent, amicable, caring and thoughtful. I had an emergency and they went out of their way to make me comfortable. My ride was delayed and they made sure I felt welcome, safe, and comfortable. I can’t thank them enough.

Absolutely loved my room. It was super comfortable and really really lush. The swimming pool and tub was amazing too. Joanne was such an amazing host and is really such a lovely person to have around always making sure I was ok and I knew how to get around the island. All staff were friendly abd efficient. Great location, away from the hustle. Beautiful ocean views, windy location (on Windy Hill!). Car is a must, don't recommend waking to the nearby Sand Dunes (breakfast/lunch). Grab groceries to stock your fridge.
Suggestion for owners: dress up the reception area, it's the most spartan/dreary check-in I've seen in my travels. Your staff is simply lovely, they may enjoy some color and decorative items made on the island.

Wonderful secluded location - chill-out paradise!
My wife and I stayed at the Santosha on the north east coast of Barbados for 8 days. The location and facilities were excellent. Special mention of the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, who couldn't do enough for us. Particular mention for Joanne in Reception and Selma, one of the house-maids.
The property is located in an absolutely idyllic part of the island, with wonderful views of the Atlantic Ocean. As all the reviews testify, you do need a car to stay here, as it is truly remote. However, it is safe, quiet and an absolute chill-out zone. Note that there isn't a great deal to do in the evening, unless you are prepared to drive in the dark.
We visited all parts of the island during our stay, but obviously the west coach beaches are the gems to behold, particularly Paynes Bay, Alleyne's Bay and Heywood's Beach. Mention also for Carlisle Bay (Boatyard day ticket) and Miami (Enterprise) Beach which were fabulous too. The Little Arches Hotel restaurant/cafe was superb in respect of the latter location.
We booked a lunchtime cruise with Tiami Cruises, and actually/literally swam with a turtle. Unforgettable experience. Cruise to be thoroughly recommended.
Only downside was difficulty with navigating across the island (we used the Waze app in the end), although this was overcome with patience and resourcefulness! Also, with regard to the Santosha, there is some noise from upstairs if you stay in the garden view apartments on the ground floor (wooden flooring).

Mention also for Carlisle Bay (Boatyard day ticket) and Miami (Enterprise) Beach which were fabulous too. The Little Arches Hotel restaurant/cafe was superb in respect of the latter location.
We booked a lunchtime cruise with Tiami Cruises, and actually/literally swam with a turtle. Unforgettable experience. Cruise to be thoroughly recommended.
Only downside was difficulty with navigating across the island (we used the Waze app in the end), although this was overcome with patience and resourcefulness! Also, with regard to the Santosha, there is some noise from upstairs if you stay in the garden view apartments on the ground floor (wooden flooring).

A World Away
Santosha is a world away from the west and south coast resorts ... making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The setting and the views are beautiful, enhanced by the ever present ocean breeze, the sound of the Atlantic waves and singing frogs at night. Our top floor suite was spacious, comfortable and stylish but what made it really special was the huge balcony with its splendid view. It was also a great base from which to tour the island, and with Speightstown only 20 minutes away, we enjoyed several trips to stock up on food, swim in the Caribbean and eat at the wonderful Fish Pot. Many thanks to Joanne and her lovely staff for creating such a special place. We loved it!

Nice rooms with kitchen. There is not much around except nature. As there is no breakfast, lunch or dinner offered you have to get your own food.
There is a bus station in front of the hotel. Bus costs only $2 per person but usually runs only about once per hour and direction. Sometimes the bus never comes.
They gave us a cell phone with a list of taxi drivers. You will need them for dinner. For lunch there are two places in 15 to 20 minutes walking distance, but they do not offer dinner.

Unfortunately the peace was disturbed .My room was on the ground floor and because of wooden floors in the room above, I could hear every footstep of 'baby elephants' during the night and furniture scraped on the floor

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay in Santosha on the 'wild' eastern coast of Barbados. The hotel feels secluded and it is certainly a place to relax and get away from it all.

If you are looking to shut off and relax, away from the busy South and West coasts of Barbados then this is a great option for a few days. We stayed for 3 nights and were able to unwind before heading to the more lively West coast for a few days to get a more stereotypical Barbados experience. The East coast has stunning scenery, but it's not a place to go if you want to get in the sea, as it's a bit wild with lots of safety warnings.
The hotel is great, has everything you need to be self-sufficient for your stay, make sure you load up on food and soft drinks before arrival. If you want some cold beers, the ones provided on site are good value! The rooms are well proportioned, comfy beds and well equipped kitchen. The pool and deck area are great.

The entire experience with Santosha was excellent. Joanne contacted us well before our arrival to finalize details, sought rental car rates on our behalf and spent an extra half hour with us helping us find the hidden gems and tourists traps that we wanted to discover while in Barbados.
The property is exactly as advertised; you will not be disappointed in the least. Even with a downstairs corner room we had an excellent view of the sea and mountains but the best view is found at night if you take off your porch light and look up. The relative remoteness (still only 40 minutes from downtown) meant that the stars were in their glory at night. It truly was beautiful and I highly recommend this hidden gem for the travelers who don't mind a little drive that allows experiences that the regular resorts could never replicate.

Great to get away from the busy west side.
Great for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the west side of Barbados. It was quiet, a short walk from a nice beach (no swimming due to large waves), a bit longer walk to the only restaurant, Sand Dunes, and a small grocery store. The store also has a snackette, which had much more reasonably priced food, like burgers, fish cakes and more which is targeted to the school kids from the secondary school next door. The kitchen and BBQ grill made it great for making our own meals, and the swimming pool was excellent for cooling off. The room was good, with a great view if you get 2nd or 3rd floor. You can see the ocean waves and a old sugar cane mill in the distance. We didn't have a car, but enjoyed the bus ride to Bathsheba and even saw a monkey on the way. Come prepared, bring groceries, drinks and what ever else you need and you are good to go. There was also a small bar food shack right near the entrance. We had a beer there while waiting for the bus, but didn't eat anything as it didn't look sanitary. Santosha also has a fridge in the pool house with beer and a few snacks if you get desperate. The bed was a bit hard, but the AC worked great and there was a cross breeze on the 2nd floor that kept us cool most of the time. The only real negative is that if anyone is above you, you will hear them stomping around whenever they walk - at any time of the night! Bring all supplies you need, like coffee, spices, sugar, salt and pepper, paper towels etc.

Gest place to get away and relax! Get a car so you can use explore the island from here. Very scenic view from deck on room. Get groceries before heading there otherwise 15-20 minute drive to most restaurants.

The location is awesome. Santosha sits right off of the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast of the island. The view is breathtaking. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Some cons were: car rental is a must. This site is very remote. Would recommend purchasing grocery. We were hungry. There is no food at the hotel and the restaurants nearby close super early and not many to choose from. Other than that it was very relaxing. If you want action and excitement, this is not the place. It's super chill and romantic. Perfect for a \"baecation\". Enjoyed my stay. I would just plan the food situation better.

Huge Apartment In a Quiet Location
This is the wild side of Barbados. Only a few dining choices, but all are very good, especially Dinah's in Bathsheba. Sand Dunes is nearby and good for lunch. We stayed in Unit 303, a huge 1-BD, 2-BA apartment with big balcony overlooking the NE coastline - spectacular view! Nice pool, though we never used it. The apartment has basic amenities, and not too many of those - probably the only drawback. Wi-Fi in the room was spotty, but down near the office it worked great. Joanne says they will be putting a router or extender in the room soon. TV reception was spotty to non-existent.

Nice Quiet Get-A-Way
Great hotel, situated in rural east coast Barbados. The room was very large and spacious. Nice clean environment, nice view of the ocean (can't swim on this side of the island because of dangerous tidal waves, but very nice for walks.) Only downside, water from shower did not get very hot or have a lot of pressure. It was only a bus ride away from a few major Barbados attractions.

Zen-like accommodations with beautiful sea view
If you want harmony, comfort and tranquility this is the place for you. The view from the balcony from our third floor room was spectacular with nature all around. The staff was kind and very accommodating. The lovely pool was available 24/7 and the grill very handy to cook fresh fish we got from the fish market in Speightstown 20 minutes away. There is a beautiful clubhouse at the pool. It is essential to have a rental car at this location. Great for couples and family groups who want a vacation/reunion in a gorgeous place that feels like one has it all to oneself. It would have been even better if the jacuzzi had not been out of service and the blinds in our bedroom rolled up and down easily.

Spent 2nights there, everything was clean and well maintained. Water was off in the hotel for a few hours but the staff worked hard to rectify the problem... Apart from that we had no complaints and would love to visit again

Most relaxing stay
Had a wonderful relaxing stay from July 16 to July 21. I was looking for somewhere quiet with little disturbance and I found it.The Santosha team, Joanne, Selma, Claudine and Dorious, were very friendly, helpful and made my stay stress-free. My one bedroom was spacious, and homey and I slept very well. The beach across the road is rough and not for swimming. However, everyday I went for long quiet walks along the beach and listened to the pounding of the waves. I prepared breakfast but traveled to Holetown for dinner. You need a car to get around easily. I did not rent one this time around but I would in future. I traveled as a single female and I felt safe even though the hotel is secluded.

The East Side of the Island is Great
At first, we were a little concerned that we'd be isolated, but we discovered that we were a 20 minute drive or less from many of the things we wanted to do (Heywood's beach, St Nicholas abbey, etc.). And the things that were further away could easily be scheduled into day trips to other ends of the island. You must have a car or be happy to not go anywhere and just relax by the pool.
