Being in Piazzetta Nilo made this hotel a great spot to stay. It placed everything me and my girlfriend wanted to see within walking distance (max 25 min walk). The main street is close by and there is plenty of shops and food in the surrounding neighborhood. To top it off the Veiled christ statue is only 1 block away!

We had a pleasant stay overall. The couple at the front desk were wonderful and extremely helpful, and we were very impressed by them. The room was a good size, and the property itself was generally very good. The bed, however, was quite firm.
On the downside, we had no reliable internet for the entire week. The signal was too weak, working for only a minute at a time before cutting out again, and this continued throughout our stay. To their credit, staff did try to fix the problem, but unfortunately without success.
The other main issue was the lift. It costs €0.50 every time you use it, which became quite frustrating, especially first thing in the morning or when returning and realising you had no coins with you. On one occasion, even after inserting the coin, the lift still did not work.
Apart from these two issues, the property is well situated. However, the internet problems and the lift charge would be enough to stop us from staying here again.

The staff were exemplary; really helpful and made us feel very welcome.

This accommodation is a true hidden gem right in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Naples.

The location is absolutely perfect for anyone wanting to fully experience and explore the city. Tucked away in a quiet courtyard, you take the lift up to the fourth floor and suddenly find yourself in a peaceful retreat — it’s hard to believe you’re in the centre of such a vibrant city.

Before we even arrived, the staff had already sent clear and helpful directions on how to find the property, which made everything so easy. We were warmly welcomed on arrival, and throughout our stay the team were incredibly helpful, offering local advice and even sending us recommended points of interest to visit around Naples — a lovely personal touch.

The rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated to a high standard, and spotlessly clean. Despite being right in the heart of Naples, it was impressively quiet, allowing us to relax after busy days of exploring.

If you’re looking for the perfect base to discover Naples, this is it. Highly recommended!

A good property, close to many of the tourist sites in the historic center. However, the elevator is a real pain. You need to have 50cents to use it during day times and parts of saturdays. It’s free after 9pm and on Sundays. Having coins on hand at all times is inconvenient. The elevator is also incredibly slow, so if it’s in use you will wait a long time. However the staff were very nice and overall it’s still a good property, if only they could replace the elevator with something more modern.

Lovely rooftop to enjoy a beer and watch the sunset on Vesuvius.
The Underground Tour is close by and v enjoyable along with every type of food and drink

Our daughter uses a wheelchair and we did not know the elevator requires coins each use (up and down) and is difficult so some coins disappeared and it was stressful. Staff seem well intentioned but left for the night without leaving us bedding/pillow/sheets for the pull out bed which was very problematic. Very good location in old town but overall I would never stay again.

I really enjoyed this place as the last stop on my trip through Italy. The room was very sharp looking and came with many extras that made my relaxing evening that more enjoyable. The tub was great to soak in while enjoying a bottle of wine and the room came with an ice machine to help chill your beverages. The rooftop was amazing with a great view to relax in the evenings and is available to use 24/7 so you can get up early to watch the sun rise as well. The rooftop hot tub was not functional yet I never realized there was one until I was up there so it didn’t matter to me. Tons of cafes, restaurants, and shops in the area to enjoy. Staff were welcoming and friendly. I would definitely stay here again if I ever come back to Naples.

The room was nice inside but there was no staff on premises when we arrived around 3:30pm. We were sent a code to get into the hotel. Hotel was on 4th floor with note the elevator required. .50 coins to operate but was free on Sunday which is when we arrived. The building is in the historic district with original Roman era cobblestone streets. A lot of graffiti on all walls takes away the historic value as well as potential beauty of the area. We were there only one night. Communication with staff was by text via WhatsApp and were helpful arranging a taxi for early departure to airport. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby.

The hotel is centrally located in the old town. Very easy access to restaurants and cafes.
Hotel is situated right in the middle of street market district - there are hundreds of shops selling naples touristy items all around. Very busy area! Naples is generally quite dirty and looks quite intimidating when you first arrive but it is safe as long as you follow guidelines to not get pickpocketed in a crowd. We walked around day and night with no problems. Hotel is in a secured courtyard off the main shopping street. Taxi will drop you a couple minutes walk away ( no cars allowed in that street) Once inside the hotel is really clean and new and quiet! The rooftop terrace is nice to have a look out over Naples. Staff are extremely helpful and constantly trying to please. Bed very confortable! We loved our stay here.

An interesting, quirky boutique in an interesting area. However, the strange pay elevator and grimy courtyard approach were unsettling. Parking arrangements were expensive, and located a couple of blocks away through terrifyingly narrow alleys. Not for the faint of heart, and best suited to someone who wants an edgy urban experience in that particular neighbourhood of Naples.

This “hotel” was actually just the 4th floor in a mixed use building. They had one, shared, old, small, hot, exterior elevator. Horrible elevator process! They did make it clear they would not have a 24/7 doorman. and I thought it would be fine, but I missed having someone there when we had difficulty entering the main door after 6pm when no one is on duty. The stay felt more like an Airbnb. All locks were a real pain and our main door lock needs to be replaced.

The area around the hotel was fine during the day, uncomfortable at night, that could just be Naples as a whole though.

They did not offer bottled water or a bottle fill. If you want water, you have to bring it or you have to use the sink.

The room was as pictured with modern renovations. But the AC was not good. It ran for 8 hours at coldest/max capacity and I still could not sleep with a sheet on. It wasn’t even that hot of a day. Also the shower doors had a one inch gap I between them, water everywhere.

Overall would not stay here again or recommend it. Thankfully it was one night.

It is right in the center of the most important street for tourist life at Napoli. It is in a beautiful historical area of Napoli and also has lots of shops restaurants autistic things you could imagine and also the taxis are very close by. Yes the elevator you have to pay sometimes $.50 of euro, but they give you the money at the front desk so far will be using this hotel again because they treat us really well especially in Mateo and Martina. Thank you again for a great experience in Napoli.

I was disappointed by this property. I understand it’s not a hotel, but it’s advertised under the luxury hotels guides and there’s no luxury in this place. The shower in our 3 people room was terrible, water will come out because the doors didn’t connect, and we had a pool every time we took a bath. We asked for a mop to keep the floor dry and were told to use towels from a closet by the room. The toilet to seat was broken, it kept coming out. We ran out of toilet paper and had no one to ask for; had to buy. There’s no one at the reception at no time, all the communication is by WhatsApp. The wall decoration on the wall behind the bathroom was coming off. The hair dryer is uncomfortable to use. The only good thing is the location, it’s walkable to all the main attractions.

The perfect property right in the center of the old town. Tucked away off the main street with its own entrance and courtyard. There is a lift up to the property which requires 50 cent euro coin which is provided by the hotel.
Rooms have ac and are very comfortable and quite modern.
The staff were super helpful with recommendation's and any questions along the way.

Would definitely recommend and stay again.

The staff member at the desk was super nice, but we didn’t receive the complimentary sparkling wine upon arrival. The shower was gross and the water flew out of the partially permanently open doors, we had to use our towels to carb everything. It looked dirty :( the room walls were paper thin and the area wasn’t the best. Graffiti everywhere! And the building looks pretty run down. Certainly not what was expected coming into Italy for the first time.

Nice but with a few issues

Decent hotel for a quick layover. It is very hard to find and even the neighbors. I've never heard of it. So you need to be able to call the hotel when you get there. People need to be aware that if you arrive late, for example 11:00 p.m. they do charge you a €20 fee. This should be explained at time of booking not afterwards and when you are making arrangements to check in. The lift to the hotel is also a bit of an issue. We have to check out early and we're panicking as a front door was closed and we had no way of getting out. Luckily we were able to get back to the lobby and retain our keys and open the front door again.

Lots of close by restaurants and the taxi stand is steps away. I’m a lone female traveller with a young child so safety is my number one concern.

Housekeepers left food in our fridge from a former guest. Ice machine and coffee maker had dirty water in them from god knows when.

Didn't clean our room one day for some reason, and one of the front desk staff was pretty rude when we asked about it.

Shower system was completely clogged with calcium causing it to spray everywhere. You have to take a tiny elevator to reach the hotel which inexplicably costs .50 Euro — the hotel will provide this but it's just odd and inconvenient.

Location is great but that's about it, wouldn't recommend to a friend.

This area is absolutely disgusting. The reviews CANNOT be real. The pictures are deceiving. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. We stayed It’s basically in a run down apartment building. The “hotel” has a few rooms on the 4th floor of the building but it is sketchy as hell when you enter the building. Then you have to take a right elevator to the 4th floor that can only hold 2 people. The elevator is slower than a snail. Takes forever to get to the top. Once you enter the “hotel” the reception is just a desk.

The rooms are basically like apartment doors. You just walk two feet to your room. When we got inside the room, I was underwhelmed. The room is spacious - big bed. Marble floors but dirty and we couldn’t wait to leave in the morning. Look at my pictures for what I’m referring to. Hair around handle to shower. Dirty toilet. Dirty sofa. Worn and dirty rags and towels. Like this place is a motel/hostel. Cracked windows in building. If it weren’t for all my luggage, I would have left immediately. I’m only here to rest my head, really.

You need actual lock keys to enter the “building” and access the gate that leads to the building. Then there is no reception after 9 - if you arrive after 9 for check in, there is an additional fee.

Also, the airport is not 6 mins away as advertised on Expedia. It’s 25 minutes and if you need a van, it will cost you almost $80

The morning we left at 5am and couldn’t operate the elevator to leave and there was no one to help us

Super slow elevator. The entire city seems to lack self-respect. Absolutely everything is filthy dirty disgusting. The graffiti is so thick and pervasive rhat its hard to see anything else. This city has a very long way to go to catch up with the rest of the country. It feels like Tijuana in the 60s. Barely 3rd world. Why is Naples so different from the rest of the country?

Reasonably priced and in the centre of Naples. Room was spacious. Loved our balcony too. Lovely rooftop where we sat one afternoon pity that the hot tub was not available as it would have been ideal, after all the walking. Hotel is close to plenty of restaurant and bars. There were 5 adults and we all loved the area and hotel. We would definately come back and recommend to our friends.

Only negative is with both our bookings we shoild have had a bottle of proseco. When we asked about the mini bar the member of staff said everything was extra. At the time we forgot about the proseco until we got home.

Naples is an interesting city, it doesn’t look the most welcoming. It has constant movement, where you’ll be dodging mopeds and has graffiti everywhere. However Relais San Severo was conveniently placed next to a main shopping street while also being tucked away enough so you don’t hear the movement and feel safe. It was very clean and the staff was very accommodating. If I ever come to Naples again, I will be a repeat customer.

The hotel is situated right in the heart of the historical centre, stepping out of the door to so many excellent places to eat and attraction's. The atmosphere outside the hotel was amazing and a real experience. Inside the hotel was modern and clean. Above all our room was tucked away overlooking a beautiful garden and very tranquil. Hard to believe your in the middle of everything. Our hosts answered all our questions and were very helpful. Guaranteed a peaceful night sleep. When I return to Naples I will definitely stay here again.

When we first got dropped off by the taxi we were quite worried because of how busy it was in the area. We found the address and went up the elevator to an incredible suite with a balcony overlooking a beautiful garden. It also had a rooftop balcony with a view of Mt Vesuvius and the ocean. Matteo was great and provided us with a map and showed where the attractions are. He gave us a number to call anytime if we needed anything including transportation. We highly recommend anyone travelling to Naples to stay at Relais San Severo. You’ll love it! Scott and Sarah!

Small, basic BnB; poor, unreliable service

Note this is a very small property on the 4th floor of an apartment building that appears to only be staffed during business hours. The room was nice enough and clean. Location great right in the old city. There is a nice terrace overlooking the city. I think for the price you should consider a normal hotel. Don't expect any service. We had a problem with a 4:20AM taxi reservation to go to airport. Agreement was the taxi would be there at 4:20 and we'd get a text. We were in the street waiting at 4:15. No taxi. No text until 4:38 and the taxi did not show up until 4:50. Driver said he had been told 5:00AM. The hotel staff had blasé, defensive attitude about the mix up: first said we were not in the street waiting for the taxi (we were). Then said we should have called them (we did, they did not answer until 15 minutes later). Never apologized. Again, for the price, I recommend you choose a professional establishment.

Once we found the hotel, it was a very pleasant surprise. The room and staff were stellar. The elevator was a little bit iffy and slow. The terrace was lovely, and housekeeping requests were handled promptly and efficiently. The bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of storage. Our shower was nice, but the positioning of the shower head at the doors would cause flooding into the bathroom. Due to exceptional service and well appointed rooms, we would recommend this hidden gem.

We stayed one night in Naples before our flight out. The area is very inner city urban feeling. The service was amazing, room was clean and there are restaurants and bars all around. It’s an interesting location within the building but our stay was great! Get the pizza across the street!
