not accessible by car, the taxi driver denied to us to proceed to the destination address. First look from the main entrance, a project building and entering the the hallway an awful feeling of an odor, garbage cans placed there, I assume for decoration, definitely no paint on the walls and run down structural and cosmetic walls appearance. Although it is stated that up to 8.00 pm there is a receptionist no person was there, i do have to admit that he showed up promptly after a phone call. I got hit with an additional 31 euro not only for 6.00 Euro as i was informed by Expedia for local taxes, because you do not pay by the room but by the number of occupants, myself and my wife so they added 20.00 Euro for her. The room was clean and updated but the whole experience, less to desire. Definitely not recommended, sorry, they should present the other pictures of the property.

Location is amazing! Less than 1.6km (1 mile) to various museums (M.A.N.N) and attractions. If you do not want to haul suitcases around, take Metro Line 1 from Napoli Centrale (Garibaldi) to the (Universita) station, then briefly walk to Inn. Napoli Centrale 🚆 is a 25 minute walk away.

Nearby restaurants were plentiful and offered a great selection. \"PIN8\" restaurant (50m away) is where hotel guests may have a juice and pastry breakfast in the morning for free.

Room was quiet and comfortable, with AC and a mini fridge. Shower was not in bathroom, if that would be a problem.

Only one 'bad' comment: the number of keys. There is a key for the building, key for the Inn, key for your room, key to enable lights going on, and key to the safe...all on a keychain. My simple solution was to keep building/inn/room keys on keychain, leaving other two keys behind.

Firstly this a lovely place to stay in old Naples. Comfortable bed, good aircon, nice shower. The breakfast is a voucher for a small cafe bar up the road offering a drink (coffee/juice) plus a croissant, small pizza or sfogliatella. Nice to start the day off but dont expect a full breakfast. The biggest challenge for us was the 6 flights of stairs to reach the 2nd floor reception with no lift! Not an easy task with 2 large suitcases plus hand luggage. It was difficult enough just walking up the steep stairs. Anyone traveling with hand luggage only and quite fit should be ok and have a lovely little place to stay but we would not come again with a suitcase.

Positives - Lovely clean room, great air con, comfy bed, good location, breakfast is at a cafe just round the corner and it’s a choice of a drink and various patisserie products - again these were lovely.
Things to think about - the inn is on the second floor of the building with 6 flights of stairs to climb, with a suitcase is not the easiest, or if you are less mobile. There isn’t a lift. The inn is only staffed for 12 hours during the day, you do have numbers to contact the staff should you need them.
Overall a good little find with lots of cafes nearby.

We loved our stay at the Santa Chiara Inn. We had a great Napoli experience (on our first visit to Italy & Naples) staying in this neighborhood - which is highly walkable and near lots of interesting and lively things. The property itself was a nice calm respite from all the street action. As the hotel advises, there are a good deal of stairs, so it's not advised for those who need assistance with access. We also really enjoyed breakfast coffee and croissant provided at the nearby cafe! The hotel staff was very accommodating and communicative and also provided some good recommendations.

Breakfast was only coffee and a croissant. It took 65 steps to get to bed and breakfast. Our room ( #2) reeked like sewage. We had to keep the window open at all times. There was mold on the tiles in the shower. The tiles are black so it was not visible. We asked the management to call us a cab to airport. After waiting for 30 minutes, they told us that cab will not come and we need to walk to the train station which was not easy. I called the taxi company and in 5 minutes the cab showed up. Very disappointed.
The hotel is located in the center of the historic center and close to good restaurants.

The room and bathroom are especially beautiful. Please be aware - important! - this hotel is on the 3rd floor (for an American) of a beautiful, historic Naples building with a grand,c wide circular staircase. It is only convenient if you are together, have lightweight luggage or get an assist from the staff.
Please note that the staff are only on location for your check-in and check-out.
In some ways, it is more like renting an Airbnb. But quite beautiful despite the less attractive narrow street in the historic district.

While the actual accommodation was pleasant, clean and well appointed, I found this to be a very unsafe place to stay as a woman travelling alone. The inn is located on a side street with no obvious entrance and no lighting at night when using the key-the first of 3-needed to access the building. Accessing the room required going up 3 flights of stairs, with no elevator and once in the room, I had real trouble accessing cell service which made me feel less safe. I would not recommend staying here alone, despite the quality of the rooms themselves. Even accessing the inn was a challenge-the cab drive refused to drive into the old city center and so I had to walk in to find the inn which as I mentioned was not well marked. Luckily my friends walked me back to my hotel after dinner. They too were concerned for my safety because of the lack of lighting.

This spot is essentially an Airbnb-style setup on one floor of an older apartment complex.

The Good: Great location! (you can walk to everything), and the rooms were recently renovated and semi clean. (Semi clean as our top blanket had a stain)

The Not-So-Good: It's a climb—be prepared for 80-100 steps in an older, dimly lit stairway with some visible cracks on many of the steps.

Overall: 3.5/5. Great for a quick trip!

location was central, outside appearance and main floor entry were not clean and dark. Stairs going up were cracked and not clean. We were aware that there was no lift, but underestimated that the 2 story building was not easy to go up with luggage. The front desk staff were pleasant. There was a terrible odor in the room, it smelled like backed up sewage the entire time we were there. It was hard to sleep on the twin bed, the mattress was slanted and felt like rolling out of bed.

This property is hard to get to by vehicle. There was no way our van, with the six of us, could get to it so we had to walk with all our luggage about 2 blocks on cobblestone. Even small taxis have difficulty as the street is really the size of a large sidewalk.
The outside of the property was discerning. The main entrance to the building was dingy. We knew there wasn’t a lift but underestimated the actual number of stairs there would be in the 3 storeys up to the Santa Chiara Inn. It’s an old, long marble staircase that seemed to go on forever.
This is not accessible for anyone with less than an average fitness level or with any type of mobility issues whatsoever. There was no way we could all carry our luggage up the stairs. Thank goodness there were a couple of men in our group to carry the heavy and large bags.
We were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful rooms after a rough start. They were very clean and Anna worked hard to finish our rooms so we could check in early. One of the rooms did have a sewer smell so that wasn’t good.
Genaro was patient with our language barrier and was good at communicating before and after our arrival.
In the end, we were happy to stay in the heart of Naples, full of character and vibrancy!

We drove from the airport. Did not know that GPS does not help in Old Town. Too often went the wrong way down one-way street and had to back out. Drove around and around trying to find the hotel. It’s down an alley with no sign on the little tiny street. Luckily, I inquired in advance about a parking lot. Without that name, we might still be driving around! Next time, don’t drive into Old Town. Let a local Uber get you there. … also, like other European small hotels, this one is on the third floor of an apartment building. There is no lobby. You walk into an unappealing ground floor with garbage cans. You walk up 3 flights of stairs (don’t have heavy luggage!). Once you enter the flat, everything will be fine. We enjoyed our stay.

Everything was great and we were happy. Plenty of noisy from the street on Friday night and we couldn't really sleep, but Sat and Sun was good. Just one last thing, we asked the front desk to book a taxi for us to the train station, he attempted twice but unsuccessful. He then asked us to walk to some piazza to hail a taxi ourselves. It was shocking as we had to maneuver two large luggages and time constraint just simply make it impossible. Fortunately we provision additional 30mins else we would have missed our train

The room was a good value for the price and was located in a great area of the city - a short walk to Via Toledo, the port, and the historic city center. It was safe and the man who checked us in was very kind and helpful. We appreciated being able to leave our bags after we checked out so that we could freely explore the city until our late afternoon taxi to the airport. We only stayed one night, but the location was exactly what I'd hoped for. We had a bit of trouble finding the Inn because other places on via Santa Chiara carried a similar name. The folks at the local bar (where breakfast was provided the next day) were helpful in calling the inn keeper to come meet up and bring us to the right location. Breakfast was simply a coffee and a brioche, so don't expect much more. The room was spacious and the shower was hot & strong, so we were pleased overall!

The only criticism would be that there is no lift , walking the 4 flight of stairs your legs do get a great workout. I would not recommend for the elderly however overall we had a wonderful stay.

It is better to get a taxi to reach this accommodation as roads are very difficult to walk on with luggage. Also, the rooms are upper levels without a lift. Total 65 steps up and it is very challenging to carry the luggages up, particularly when we both are 60 over. Breakfast is pretty basic and communication is not easy since we speak no Italian and the receptionist speaks very little English.

Was really a clean place in a very busy town close to the beautiful historical attractions of Naples and the staff were very welcoming, respectful and ready to help with everything we needed. Definitely a good choice if you want to be walking distance from everything in Naples.
There is an underground parking lot in a parallel street just next to the place less than 200 meters. A bit pricey for 1 night but very safe considering no place to park in the streets.

It is a fairly long way from the railway station and you have to climb many steps. The place is up four flights and if you have heavy suitcases you better be young and powerful. The breakfast is a joke. You go to this coffee stall and get a croissant and a cup of coffee from a grumpy owner. Overall I did not care for this place.

Struttura situata in pieno centro a Napoli, in posizione strategica per raggiungere a piedi gran parte dei punti di interesse.
Situata al secondo piano di un palazzo storico, in una zona silenziosa. Camera sufficientemente spaziosa, arredo minimale ma sufficiente, bagno ampio, doccia enorme, unico piccolo appunto, forse il bagno necessiterebbe di una leggera manutenzione.
Colazione non in loco, ma presso un bar convenzionato distante pochi metri, cappuccino e pasta (ottima e abbondante) più che sufficiente per iniziare la giornata fra le vie di Napoli, dove le possibilità di integrare la colazione non mancheranno. Di sicuro dovessimo tornare a Napoli alloggeremo di nuovo qui.

Recommended option in historic centre of Naples

This small property is right in the historic centre of Naples, yet tucked away in a side street so not too noisy. Room 1 which I stayed in is quite small, but this is reflected in the description and price. Crucially, it is clean and the room had been refurbished. Breakfast is at a bar just around the corner. It was the best coffee and croissant I had on my entire 2 week trip, and the welcome there was exceptional.
The owner of the Inn helped me with my luggage, but if you have mobility issues it might not be suitable for you, as it's on an upper floor. Otherwise, this is highly recommended.

Camere pulite, confortevoli con anche possibilità di farsi un tè. Inn al secondo piano (senza lift) di un tipico edificio in un vicolo del centro storico all'incrocio con Spaccanapoli da cui si raggiungono varie attrazioni anche con la Metro che dista a ca. 5-10 min a piedi. Ci tornerei sicuramente la prossima volta a Napoli.

Charming!!!!!!! So so quaint, ambiance a perfect 10. Incredibly cute, updated , clean room. Staff very welcoming. I LOVED this hotel. Breakfast a couple doors down was just as nice…coffee/pastries in a cute outdoor, roadside setting.
Noise blocking windows when closed, lots of fresh air when open in our room.
One small complaint was not enough bed pillows… I say this about every hotel and travel with blow up pillows for extra oomph to be fair.

Great stay in Naples so start off our Italy trip!

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Santa Chiara Inn for 3 nights, our first stop on our Italy trip.

We had advised the property ahead of time around what time we would arrive and as instructed, someone was there to greet us for check in. Keep in mind, the tourist tax of 3 euros per person, per night, must be paid cash.

The only downfall from this property is that there is no elevator and we knew this ahead of time, and were OK with it. But keep in mind in case you are not fine with no elevator and climbing 3 flights of stairs at 30+ degrees.

Our experience from beginning to end was fabulous! The room was very comfortable and clean. We got great nights of sleep.

Best part, you are so centrally located to everything. Shops, restaurants, the port, the train station!! We walked absolutely everywhere and found great gems, no tourist traps.

Breakfast included was on the same street, you could order the coffee you want and pastry. They were decent but not amazing. However I must admit not being able to find any great homemade pastries in Naples. Seems like the same provider goes everywhere.

We would definitely recommend staying here and would definitely go back if we were coming through Naples :)

A small, quaint spot. No frills, really just a bed, but a really comfortable one. Clean room in a great location with very nice staff. A lot of stairs and no life so if you have weak knees/hips be warned, but we loved this place. If you need a comfy bed and you plan to spend the rest of your stay exploring the city (which is great!) I’d recommend this space.

We loved this hotel for our 5-night stay in Naples. It was very clean, with one of the larger bathrooms and showers we’ve experienced in our European travels, and the room air conditioner worked great for the hot summer days. The hotel was in a great location in the historical center near all of the city sights we wanted to see. We used public transit for all of our travels from the hotel. Taxis stop in the nearby Piazza Gesu Nuovo (3 min walk). The hotel is midway between two metro stops: Dante is uphill from the hotel, Universita is downhill from the hotel, each about an 8-min walk away. We would choose our preferred metro stop based on the walking direction. There are lots of bar and restaurant choices within a 10-min walk. Breakfast is included but served at the Pin8 bistro/bar a half block away. The service at both the hotel and the breakfast cafe were great! The hotel is in an apartment building and is located on the third floor (0,1,2). The front desk is also up on the third floor, so you have to call ahead or use the buzzer when you arrive. Be warned, there is no elevator for your suitcases or if you have mobility issues. The nearby sights we visited by walking or public transit were:

Piazza del Plebiscito
Galleria Umberto I
Castel Nuovo
Walk the waterfront
Castel Sant’Elmo by funicolare cable car
Pompei by train from Garibaldi station
Amalfi by ferry
We loved this hotel and would definitely stay at Santa Chiara Inn again!

Comfortable spot in a great location

Exceptional location. Inn is a calm oasis in a lively, atmospheric neighborhood. 5 minute walk to Metro, ATM, and other transport options and several local sights. 15-20 minute walk from ferry landing. Loads of dining, drinking and shopping choices close by, with a full range of prices, from fast food to fine dining. Room was spacious and nicely appointed, with effective A/C. Only caveat is no lift/elevator to 2nd floor, though Gennaro was very helpful with luggage on arrival.

First, the room was so small that we literally couldn't open our luggage up on the floor. We don't mind small rooms, as we don't spend time in the room, but this was ridiculous. It was a long walk from the ferry port, but the worse part was that there was really no way to get there without hauling our luggage up city steps. In hindsight, we would've taken a cab from the ferry. There is NO ELEVATOR, so we had to lug our very heavy luggage up 3 flights of stairs! The lights for the building stairs are hard to find, so the first time we did this in the dark! There really is no staff. There was someone there to check us in, but left right after, and they aren't there at night (we know now to check for 24/7 Concierge). Although the bathroom is modernized, the room is just too small. Additionally, we weren't allowed to have any extra towels, pillows or blankets! The included breakfast is 3 buildings away in the Pin8 cafe, and only included a coffee and a pastry. The only highlight was the manager of the cafe sings and plays the piano (if you ask him) while you sip your cappuccino. Bottom line, make sure you get a hotel with an elevator, and stay somewhere else.

It was well located and within walking distance of many points of interest. The walk from the metro station is over cobbled streets and so not easy with luggage. The accomodation is on the second floor but there is no elevator so be prepared to tote your bags up there.

The main issue I found with the room was the lack of hot water, which is insane to think about how, in 2023 there isn't steaming hot water in the shower, the water at best was lukewarm. We did inform the owner the next day when we spoke to him at reception and he said he would have a look at the water temperature but when we got back after exploring Naples all day the water temperature was still the same, nothing had changed so, to be honest with you this did ruin our experience of the inn and for that reason, I won't be staying here again. Furthermore, we had to pay the city tax in cash which was inconvenient because I prefer using my card wherever I go on holiday and I never take out cash when I'm on holiday but they insisted on us paying with cash, which I thought they were being difficult as we stayed in Hotels on my our Italian tour in Palermo and Rome and none of they expect us to pay the city tax in cash. And one more thing there isn't a lift in the building so beware of that as it's not made clear on the reservation.

The inn is very lovely to stay at. The room was amazing, especially the walk-in shower with a rain showerhead. Gennaro was always pleasant and smiling, and even helped us carry our luggage up the stairs when we arrived. He also gave advice for getting around the city. Will definitely stay here again if we return to Napoli!

This property is a great place to stay. The staff was very helpful from getting luggage upstairs to finding us a taxi. The place was newly remodeled, and clean. The bar next door for breakfast was a gem. My wife has a gluten allergy and the bar owner would always have a gluten free croissant waiting.
