Is was just ok. No air conditioning, very hot in the room. The carpet in the hallway are filthy, actually gross. The towels need to be replaced. We didn't have the breakfast bit it is in a subterranean basement. The staff was very nice, and the hotel is just outside the party zone.

Loved the location. Fantastic access to the Van Gogh museum and Rijksmuseum. Also to the bus (#397) to get to the airport. Did not like that there was no AC for the sun-facing rooms. There were fans but the room was still very hot. Also, the refrigerator in the room was not cold. Asked for a replacement or repair but no joy. The shower stall would not drain properly. The hotel did have a working elevator big enough for two or three with bags. Nice indoor terrace area to relax outside the room. Had the room ready early and the nice lady at reception let us check in early even though we had expected to be just able to drop off our bags.

Definitely book with the breakfast! Delicious and lots of variety. It’s quieter than the downtown area. Very convenient to the museums and canal boat tours (which are also fantastic). Close to Vondelpark too for tranquility and greenery. No air conditioning but that’s typical for Amsterdam. The room was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

For a European hotel close to the centre of Amsterdam, it met our expectations. So many sites nearby including Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum, Vondelpark, Anne Frank House, Red Light District, Nine Streets, Amsterdam Centraal and Dam Square. The buffet breakfast was great but you need to prebook or else risk not getting access. Staff were helpful and friendly. Wifi was fast and reliable. Water was hot for showers.

The staff and general cleanliness were very good, my only issues were two things, one room had a boiler tank above that you heard throughout the night but the staff were incredibly helpful and moved me to a quieter room so thank you. The new room the shower only had one setting which was scalding!!

The location of the hotel is perfect. It is in a central, safe location, walkable to most attractions in the city or easy access to public transportation. The front desk was always staffed. The location was the highlight. Otherwise the room was very small and exceptionally warm despite not having the heat on. No AC but they did provide a small floor desk fan. We did not pay for the breakfast. Overall would recommend for a great location to explore the city!

I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Cornelisz. It is located in a very accessible but not too crowded or noisy area, and the tram stops are only a few minutes walk and the airport shuttle 397 stop is close as well which is super convenient. The hotel staff are very friendly, especially the breakfast bar crew. I highly recommend getting breakfast included with your stay. The rooms are a tad small but that is to be expected with these older buildings. Most importantly for me, there were no bed bugs during my 8 days stay here. This was a big concern of mine and the hotel staff let me know that all affected rooms were closed off, with full furnishing and flooring replacements taking place, and they’re taking all the preventive measures. I would stay at Hotel Cornelisz again on my next trip back to Amsterdam.

I had a reservation for three nights. I arrived around 4pm and my room wasn't ready, even though the check in time was 3pm. They gave me a complimentary bottle of water for my trouble. When my room was ready, I went up there to drop off my bags. I was in the room for a total of twenty minutes before I went downstairs to tell the front desk representative that I couldn't stay there. The room was VERY dirty. I can tolerate a lot; I've stayed in a lot of questionable hotels all over the world, but this was possibly the worst. There was a long, crusty stain on the wall from the ceiling to the bed. The bed was made, but once I pulled the comforter off, there was an array of hairs and stains. The floor was dirty. The corners of the room had piles of dust and grime. The closet was stained, dirty, and not actually big enough to hang anything in. The bathroom light did not work... it was pretty awful.
After standing in the room debating what to do (because I wouldn't sit down), I determined that I couldn't stay here. I couldn't risk getting sick or bedbugs or fleas....I am way too busy for that. I walked downstairs, told them I couldn't stay there due to how dirty the room was. I asked for a partial refund, I acknowledged that I had reserved the room, but now they could rent it out for the other nights. They refused. They also did not refund me the city taxes that I paid right before I went up to the room.

Wish we checked google reviews before visiting. We weren’t aware there was a bed bug problem a few months ago. While we didn’t see any bugs on our bed we did notice what looked to be a bed bug in the room. We made sure to wash all our clothes and put everything in bags to be safe. We also found an old piece of gum attached to the blankets and when we requested a new one we were originally told they didn’t have other blankets, and that we’d need to wait until the next day (fortunately they were able to get a new blanket before then). Great location and the place has potential, but was a disappointing visit overall.

The room is very small even for two people if you have big luggages (not a surprise though as this is AMS). The closet is just enough for a coat and a few clothes. Bathroom is tiny but efficient. I didn’t realize it did not have AC but they do have fans. Even in winter, our room got warm as it faced the sun in the afternoons (and we were lucky enough to have gotten sunny days during our stay). On the plus side, the location is prime, close to the Museumplein tram stop. You will not run out of dining options around the vicinity. Staff was kind and helpful. If you are solo or a couple with just hand luggage and staying only a few days, this is the perfect hotel for you.

I had a terrible experience at Hotel Cornelisz. My room had bed bugs, and I ended up with more than 15 bites, which triggered an eczema flare-up and completely disrupted my trip. I had to be moved to another hotel, spend time at a pharmacy, and deal with the stress of cleaning all my belongings.
The hotel has refused to take responsibility or offer a refund, despite the room being uninhabitable. Really disappointing and not what I expected — I would not stay here again.

This hotel has bed bug infestation. We realised the first day and they did refund us the booking fees. However, when told the staff about it, they replied with a “sorry” and not even looked surprised. Didn’t also want to check the room to see if there really are bugs. I was really shocked that they knew about this and still didn’t do anything about it before giving us the room. Stay away at all cost. Seems they don’t care about the health and safety and just want to make money.
We also had to throw away some clothes, which the hotel has not compensated for, although the reception said they would ask the manager to contact us.

This property was conveniently located next to shops and dining but the hotel needs renovation, the windows are thin and we heard every conversation that was had and every car that drove by. The mattresses were horrible and woke up feeling achy, even with the 2 inch foam. The bathrooms were also very small and the wood floors were dirty, when walking barefoot. Not the best comfort experience, but if you don’t mind simple comfort, the location is great!

Elegant and peaceful hotel in a perfect location. Mere steps from Rijksmuseum and easy access to major tram and bus lines (including the 397 which goes to and from Schiphol airport). Very safe neighbourhood - felt more than comfortable walking back at night. My room was a standard single European hotel room, which means it’s very small, however, it was immaculately clean and comfortable. Cannot recommend this place enough. If you are a walker/cyclist and don’t want to take public transportation, you are only a 20-25 minute walk from major attractions and neighbourhoods.

Clean! Staff are wonderful. The beds, pillows and size of the room give it a 3 star. The pillows need updating and need to be bigger, the beds on wheeels??? Rolling around while trying to sleep has us in stitches. Overall great hotel but beds needs updating.

Run as far away as you can from this hotel. They have bedbugs. They will assure you that you will receive a refund, but then they will not respond to you when you request said refund. I slept on a bench in the breakfast room. Do not book this hotel do not book it. It is awful.

Very close to the Rijks Museum, Van Gogh Museum, Moco museum and a casino. We explores much of old Amsterdam by foot from here. Most interesting sights and destinations are within 30 minutes. There were countless dining options within a 15 minute walk.

The room was hot. We did not have blankets in the ed. The tv did not work and the layer of dust on the cord was truly unbelievably gross. The hair ball in the show was gross the dust and crumbs and bottle caps under the bed were gross. We complained about the dirt in the morning and they said they would clean it then- too late. Initially read reviews, which were good and this hotel seemed ideal location. Front desk staff very friendly, BUT, got completely bitten all over by bedbugs, room 411, even took pictures and videos of the bugs in the room. Staff were sympathetic and reimbursed the stay, however, on returning home, with worsening bites, swelling, pain, blistering and itching, i went back and read many other reports of bed bugs at this hotel, even one from 2023 in same room. We arrived at 11pm- the attendant was friendly. Exiting the elevator you have a substantial dip in the floor and an open stairwell- so a bit scary.Got to the room and it was dirty, hit, and the beds did not have blankets. We went to turn on the tv- and the plug was tied in a know and no joke - a thick layer of dust on it. We called down to ask for a blanket and to see if the tv works. Blanket was delivered - and no tv does not work. Too tired to argue. Got up, had a shower - the surround is covered in mold and white plaque- I lost an earring so had to look at the drain- there was a massive hair ball so I could not take the cover off and look. I went to look under the bead to hopefully see if the earring was there- no but there were bottle caps, food crumbs, and dust bunnies. We left that day. We argued with the new person at the front desk that said they would clean the room- no- it should have been cleaned before! I have photos of everything.

The hotel had a cute breakfast and common areas. Unfortunately my room had bed bugs. I went down to the lobby at 2 in the morning with a video and they moved me to a new room but didn’t offer any compensation or even reply when I sent an email after. It’s quite disruptive to have to pack everything up in the middle of the night - and that doesn’t even consider the feeling that you have bugs everywhere.

It was a horrible experience - we booked and paid for this hotel months ahead and not until we arrived were we told it had a sudden problem and they couldn't accommodate us. They had arranged however to put us a nearby but lesser grade hotel. We went to see and had to agree because we were tired. However, they would not reimburse us for the difference in hotel rooms. We booked a superior room and ended up with just a shabby 2-3 star hotel room. There was no breakfast in the new one. In total we paid abt 370 euro exc tax for 2 nights and the new hotel was only 120 euro per night. Yes, we have asked Hotels.com to do sth but after nego, they just said it's the hotel management and rules for no refund! Totally unacceptable. We know accidents happened but this arrangement is totally out of proportions.
