It’s a sanctuary right in the heart of Chinatown. The rooms are wonderful and the employees all so courteous and friendly.
Bar area was great for drinks, food and evening music (no noise disturbance in the rooms).
I thought it was great value and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

From the outside it may not look like much, with the open-air bar fronting the street, but walk past that & you find a very quiet & dignified lobby & reception area. This place has a lot of character, & it no doubt had an interesting previous life before becoming a hotel. Well situated in Chinatown.

Check-in: quick & easy. We arrived mid-morning, so rooms not ready. They secured our luggage, then we explored the Chinatown area.

Rooms have a certain charm. Very different in many ways from a typical hotel. The door of each was flanked by two chairs with stools. The rooms all face a central atrium that flows from the 2nd floor to the top, 6th floor.

Our suites were on the 2nd floor. They were spacious, decorated with Chinese-influenced pieces. A sitting area, a king sized bed, & a large bathroom area that included separate facilities for tub, toilet and shower.

NOTE: there is no external window in room, so no natural light in the rooms.

There was a mosquito issue in one of our suites at night. That same room had no a/c on final night, nor did much of the hotel. Other room had too much a/c & had to constantly adjust it down.

Breakfast buffet had lots on offer. Bar was hopping, with live music, nightly. Noise did not flow through to rooms, though. Staff attentive and friendly, concierge even took my husband to a barber across the street upon request.

We were completely blown away by the hotel. From the moment we arrived, right through to our day of departure. We only wish we could stay longer.

The room (205) was nothing short of being spectacular, very spacious and spotless clean. Loved the decoration and was very quiet. The toiletries were luxurious.

Front of house were fantastic and made us feel very special, helping us with all our needs and concerns.

Can’t fault our stay at all and would love to come back again.

Loved the hotel, it was very stylish, the breakfast was great and there was something for everybody and the staff were so kind - they even remembered that we liked lime with our papaya and just bought it out for us without even having to ask!!
The only negative we would have is whilst the bedroom is stunning and the bed is certainly a statement bed, getting into and out of it is a bit of a pfaff as due to all the rails etc you can only get in from the bottom and have to climb in!!

Spacious, stylish room which was immaculately clean and with large, thick towels. The windows take light from the atrium and so there’s no natural light in the room which makes it a bit dark and means there’s no view, but if the room is just a base and you’ll be out all day, it’s an ideal location.
Minor point, but as a country with fantastic coffee, sachets of instant Nescafé in the room were a disappointment!
Despite it being very busy outside, the hotel is very peaceful, it also has a great spa which is competitively priced.
Staff were all very helpful and pleasant. They will also offer advice and guidance around the best way to get around the city and/or help you arrange a Grab or tuk tuk.

This hotel is right in the centre of Chinatown, a great location for the hustle and bustle and the street food. Close the train station but also really easy to get taxi or tuktuk from.
The hotel itself was great. Chinese themed, great decor, clean and spacious. The rooms were a great size with separate bedroom, bathroom and living room areas. The staff were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and polite. We couldn't have asked for anything more from them.
Breakfast was decent with a good selection of food. With the bar which is right at the front of the hotel, it gets busy with passers by coming for a drink, that meant as residents there wasn't always a good space for us to sit. The bar was also expensive when compared to others, however I'd expect that in a hotel of this type.

I had the most wonderful stay at Shanghai Mansion Bangkok, and I honestly can’t recommend it highly enough.

From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. Paula, Richard, and another lovely team member whose name I believe begins with a “P” went above and beyond to make me feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. Their warmth, attentiveness, and kindness made this stay feel incredibly special.

I was unexpectedly upgraded to a beautiful, spacious suite that felt far larger and more luxurious than what I had booked — such a generous and thoughtful surprise. To make it even more magical, I arrived to find “Happy Birthday” beautifully arranged on the bed, a towel cake tower, and cupcakes waiting for me. It was such a touching gesture and made my birthday feel truly celebrated.

Every interaction with the staff was a pleasure — nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and the level of care and attention to detail was outstanding throughout my stay. The atmosphere, service, and genuine hospitality here are exactly what make travel experiences unforgettable.

Thank you to the entire Shanghai Mansion team for creating such a memorable experience. I will absolutely be returning and recommending this hotel to everyone I know visiting Bangkok.

The best part about this hotel is the location! It’s right at the beginning of the main road into China town and close to a ton of great places to eat and drink! I would give the hotel 5 stars, but I took off a star because our room was on the second floor by the big pond, and it seemed like we had bugs/mosquitoes in our room. There weren’t a ton but I probably killed one or two each day. Additionally, our room was very dark and had no outside facing windows. The only windows we had were facing the inside of the hotel and because of the lack of privacy we always kept the blinds shut. All in all though I do recommend the hotel and would stay again! It was clean and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful!

We loved the Shanghai Mansion for its original. Chinese style and decor. The staff were all very good, the room was clean and tidy with a fridge and excellent AC and a very comfortable bed. The ground floor bar was lively and had great music, food and drink. The rooms were quiet and we slept great. The hotel is well positioned to explore China Town and close to the river taxi and MRT. The area comes alive at night with all manor of seafood and Thai delights. For the money this was an excellent place to kick off our Thai adventure. It is not super luxury and certainly not the conformity of an international chain hotel but for us it was perfect.

If you are looking for the ultimate day/night foodie experience, this is the hotel for you. The room was not as spacious as seen in the images but I believe I did not get the room I booked. Old fashion style environment very quiet but rooms are still using keys to lock. All in all was a decent experience but not the romantic place I thought I imagined to be.

I always love staying at the Shanghai Mansion in Bangkok. It's such a funky building with stunning decor located in the heart of Chinatown. This time I booked a suite which was huge with a fantastic bathtub. The only downside was that it was on the 1st floor and the soundproofing is not good so I could quite clearly hear the music coming from the bar in the evenings. Next time I will book a lower grade room but higher up in the building. But will always stay here when in Bangkok.

The location is convenient since the hotel is right in the middle of Chinatown. The room is smaller than expected which caused my bf to knock a cup to the floor and broke it. We were notified by the staff that a small fee will be charged for the broken cup which is expected. However when we checked out the fee was 300 baht. That's absolutely ridiculous! Almost $10 for a cup when the room is only $50/night!! Beware, if you stay here, try not to break anything.

Great, boutique style hotel in the heart of Chinatown Bangkok. The staff were incredibly friendly and there are some incredible places to eat all within a few minutes of walking distance. The room is on the smaller side and at first glance, doesnt seem to have very secure doors but all our belongings were safe and we never once felt worried or uncomfortable. The bar seems to be a popular place for foreigners at night if you like to socialize. Definitely recommend!

The other is beautiful and very conveniently located in the very heart of Chinatown. We were first offered a beautiful room at the front of the hotel but the noise of the street as well as the music from the bar bellow made it incredibly and unbearably noisy. The next day we were relocated to a beautiful and quiet room towards rhe back of the hotel. The service in this hotel is in par with the most luxurious 5 stars! All the staff was absolutely amazing. There are free snacks for guests on each floor also. I cannot recommend this hotel enough but, if you really need to pick a room not at the front of the hotel or you will not sleep.

Shanghai Mansion is located right in Bangkok's Chinatown. A short walk from the subway line (20 minutes) accessible from BKK airport. Most every night the street market is open for shopping and delicious food. All exotic and fresh. Restaurants are open, too, and tend to spill out onto the sidewalks when busy. Mansion staff can help with scheduling activities and taxi rides to nearby malls. Not to be missed.

This hotel has it all! It’s a classy looking joint with rooms to match!

The location is in the middle of all street food action of Chinatown. Your Bangkok adventure begins right outside of your door.

It’s also close to the subway and river ferry.

The staff are kind and attentive. This makes a big difference.

The included breakfast buffet has a good selection of really good food. Never got tired of it. And…there is an espresso/latte machine!

This was our second visit here and it won’t be our last.

Nice hotel, good location, decent value for money. Bar prices are crazy high but it’s got live music and the setting is unique so it’s worth it for one drink.

My one concern is the total lack of security. Anyone can walk off the streets directly to the accommodation floors any time of the day or night. There are no doors to pass through, no security or hotel staff - you can walk off the street, through the open bar and walk up to any floor and access the guest rooms.

We enjoyed the quirky style of the hotel. We took advantage of the Spa package services, which I highly recommend. The ladies in the spa are great. We also enjoyed the classic music and tea time provided on Fri and Saturday. My only complaint is with the restaurant and bar because of their way overpriced drinks.

Fantastic location in the heart of China Town. Entrance/exit right on busy main road so perfect if you want to walk straight out into the throng of it all. Rooms are big and spacious with air con.
Everyone was friendly and service was great. Aesthetically pleasing design with live music downstairs at night.
Does get a little noisy if you need an early night.
No natural light in our room. Tiny windows that are blacked out.
Great hotel if staying a night or two and want to be in the middle of everything.

Excellent service on very staff level. But the room that I’m in doesn’t function well. room is very big, spacious and clean. But nothing is function right. Sofa is just more for displace, can’t seat because no cushions. Bed has no head broad to lean back. Only one way to get on the bed. Bathroom is big but towels rack is not next to the shower, it way out in far corner

The staff were wonderful. The rooms are not what I’m used to having in terms of accommodation. However, the purpose of staying at this property is to be in the heart of Chinatown and footsteps away from most things.
