Great location, but is a little older. Feels like staying at a Chinese hotel. The rooms are older and not as fresh as the lobby. The western restaurant in the lobby was under construction while I was there, but only the outside. I asked to sit inside to host a business meeting, but they wanted me to eat in the lobby. The Thai restaurant had better service. But lots of other options. Good street food. McDonalds for late night munchies. Hard Rock Cafe is across street for good food for meeting friends.

Room and hotel was quite outdated. Was slightly disappointed as photos did not make that apparent. Room was also not ready by stated check in time of 2PM.

Room was in good condition, and well kept, but the 1970s kept calling for a return of the design and layout. The hard wired central control instead of normal switches was completely off putting, I could not plug in chargers or accessories without leaving the light plug on. Probably the only hotel in Thailand where 2 single beds were hard nailed with a FIXED credenza in the middle. Mattress was too soft (typical of accors tho’).

Loved the hotel and staff, easy to walk to restaurants and night market.
Just didn’t like the table-top panel that controlled all lights and outlets in the room, our phones didn’t charge the first night, the next night we kept one wall of outlets “on” and just unplugged the lamps to sleep. We also unknowingly pushed the button to decline housekeeping for the day. A quick tutorial would have been nice. Otherwise great property.

Have stayed before, rooms are huge and comfortable, the only let down is the WC!!! if you are over 6ft you could have trouble as it's placed so close to wall you could bang your knees and your head..
Breakfast costs 290bht and has an excellent selection.

Overall I give it a good rating . Start with the positive: friendly staff , great location and they made my check in easy . The negative would be : the rooms and some facilities like pool and gym are a bit tired and in need of some renovation. Because I went during high demand I also paid up for the room. I liked the daily chocolate fondue hour . I think the Swiss should invest some money in upgrades for rooms though, especially since it is their brand. Note that hair conditioner and skin moisturizer is not included . Not a big deal but usually something you get at an upper tier hotel . The complimentary water was appreciated.

From the moment I stepped out of the Taxi and the Doorman took my suitcase and ushered me into the lobby to the time I checked out I was greeted with smiles and warmth and willingness to help if needed. Young man named Bird at the pool area was exceptional with friendly chat and service. Only issues I had and they were dealt with promptly were the shower head malfunctioned and the power to the room went off after couple of days ( no one told me I needed to put a key card in the slot).

Staff is nice at the location, however worst 5 star hotel ever. Do not book here, pictures are fake. Bathroom is outdated and dirty. Pictures of bathroom on Expedia is not their hotel. Room also doesn’t look like on Expedia. Complained to the manager and they admit it’s not their photos. They said it would be taken off but it’s still there. We left early and had to pay for another hotel that’s much cleaner.

The breakfast buffet has good options. Did not try the other hotel restaurant but it looked pretty popular and has good prices.
The outdoor pool deck is very nice and has an outdoor bar. The pool is non-heated so kinda chilly.

The room was totally fine. Nice bathroom. Overall wonderful stay.

Just another average, dated, large hotel that seemed to cater mainly to tour groups. There was lots of street noise (our room was on a lower floor on the street side), our beds were hard, the water temperature in the shower would fluctuate on its own between cool to very hot, there was no electrical outlet in the bathroom and there were a very limited amount of outlets in the bedroom. On the plus side, the WiFi was strong and fast, the breakfast buffet was good and the hotel is in a very convenient location to access the night markets. The price to value ratio was good.

Loved the fact this Hotel is right by a bunch of night markets. Made it very convenient to find food. I booked 2 rooms for 5 people. Upon arrival the staff told me the rooms are only for 2 people, but they will accommodate us, and give us an extra breakfast (that I already paid for and expected anyway).

I stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. Front desk receptionist, Doom Dim, was very efficient and pleasant. It made our check-in process very smooth and quick. Just what we needed as we had just arrived from our flight into Chiang Mai. Furthermore, we were given an upgrade for our rooms!

The location of the hotel was the highlight. For a first timer in Chiang Mai, Movenpick Suriwongse has arguably one of the best locations possible. The nearest night market is barely a 2 minutes walk down the road. If you go slightly further, you will find a local hypermarket and several 7-11s around. Besides that, there are a plethora of F&B choices to choose from - Thai food, western, coffee, and fast food chains!

Buffet breakfast was delicious, though repetitive. Front desk even assisted us with making a restaurant reservation.

The only thing I would comment on is how the temperature of the AC cannot be changed. No matter how many times I tried changing the temperature, it goes back to 21 degrees. And there is no free shuttle to and from the airport (as suggested here in Expedia).

Overall, a great stay! I would definitely return with my family. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Movenpick Suriwongse!

This property is mainly for Chinese groups and everything is done to please them. Breakfast food is mainly Chinese, Western food is medium quality. Restaurant looks like a canteen, not really like a restaurant. The hotel doesn’t seem to be old but already needs some repair (painting, mould in the shower, leaking in the shower tube). On the first day of check in, room was not cleaned properly, there was bread on the floor and hair in the bathroom. Isolation is very bad, you can even hear what people sa yin the facing room. Housekeepers vacuumed a nearby room after 10 pm, which is unacceptable.

Had informed the front desk a few times of the aircon not working and no one confirmed if this was fixed after that. I assumed it wasn't because it still felt the same before. Cleanliness was an issue, all the towels had black stains, the place had an odd odour, as if the carpets have never been deep cleaned. The bathroom wasn’t the cleanest either. We were offered an upgrade (to a club suite I think it was) from standard room for about £60 which we did because we got to check in earlier and we were just exhausted. The room was very spacious but as mentioned earlier cleanliness wasn’t the best and the bed was hard as a rock. Cannot fault the service though. place seems quite dated and would benefit from simple updates around the hotel.
