Hotel Bleues le Balmoral was built in 1859, so it is an older hotel with many coats of paint and old wrought iron balconies. It faces the Mediterranean to the west and the beach road, so expect some traffic noise.
Not too fancy but the breakfast hall was excellent and well maintained. Beds were soft but comfortable, with lots of pillows and crisp white sheets. Fridges only available in the Deluxe chambres.
Thank you to the day manager, Sabrina, who was very friendly and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. French, English, and Italian are spoken at this hotel. Recommended for direct access to the beach, dining hall and location at the edge of \"old town\". SNCF regional train was a 10 minute walk. This hotel was very affordable. Merci beaucoup.

Impeccable. Hôtel très propre, nourriture bonne et variée au restaurant matin comme soir en demi-pension, personnel très avenant et diplomate et installations complètes. L’emplacement est génial à quelques minutes de la gare et adjacent au centre de Menton. Mention toute spéciale à la réceptionniste des soirs du 16 et du 17 octobre très sympathique et qui a toujours offert un service à la clientèle irréprochable. Supervisant moi-même dans l’hospitalité à la réception elle dispose de tout les atouts.

À tout cela s’ajoute la vue sur la mer; wow. Sur l’aile la plus rapprochée la vue est panoramique et j’ose dire qu’elle l’est tout autant dans l’aile principale.

Un incontournable dans la région et avec grand plaisir de revenir y séjourner.

This is a stunning hotel location. Our family room had a balcony overlooking the sea. Must have been newly renovated and was beautiful. The staff were kind and helpful and breakfast buffet was good.

Excellent stay with beautiful sea view from our room. The location is perfect with lots of restaurants around. Staff was courteous and willing to go the extra mile with our requests. Breakfast was basic - coffee with a view of the ocean was the perfect start to our day. I would definitely go back.

Hotel was in a brilliant location with exceptional views .However the rooms were a bit dated and although there were loads of outside areas and well tended gardens it lacked facilities to have a drink or light snack on the terrace. It seemed to cater for an older clientele. .although we are 70 we felt it lacked atmosphere and any entertainment. For such a beautiful hotel we felt it did not reach it.s full potential.

Lovely place, but no small touches

Beautiful hotel, well located, very comfortable beds, good sea view. Bit the hotel had absolutely none of the little touches that wouldn't cost much money - some tea/coffee making facilities in the room, a little bottle of water, some hair or body soaps etc. Yes there was a bottle of body wash screwed to the wall in the shower. But the room lacked any of those little touches that make you happy when you first open the door!

Avoid this hotel - badly out of date

An out-of-time hotel badly in need of renovating. Everything about it is cheap, from the mattresses to the soaps in the bathroom, the bedding and everything - very poor. A/C barely works and the shower is scolding hot then ice cold. The pricing is way too high for such a hotel. Location is good but I'd rather pay more for an Uber to the centre, or walk than to stay here again.

Cut my stay short due to illness, was glad to get out of the place, no refund given as I would expect from a poorly run and managed hotel.

Avoid this hotel.

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff are wonderful ! The property is well Maintained. Our room was clean, but could benefit from a little facelift. Beds and pillows very comfortable. The breakfast/restaurant gallery is a major bonus. Not only is the gallery beautiful with marble floors overlooking the water, selection was great. Served fresh scrambled eggs, sausage, pastries, deli meats, cheese, cereal, fruits, etc.
Fantastic location, beach, restaurants, shopping all at your doorstep.

I want to express my deep dissatisfaction with our recent stay at your hotel. Despite the ideal location, several factors significantly marred our experience.

First and foremost, the room's quality did not meet our expectations. It fell short of what we had hoped for, and we found it lacking in cleanliness.

Furthermore, we were appalled by the aggressive behavior of the housekeeper, who barged into our room at 11 a.m. without even knocking, despite the check-out time being 11:30 a.m. This situation was unpleasant and entirely unacceptable.

Additionally, I would like to acknowledge that the receptionist who welcomed us at 3 a.m. was very kind and understanding. However, we were deeply disappointed by the intervention of the front desk manager, Sabrine, who responded to our complaint with indifference and a blatant lack of respect. Her attempt to justify the housekeeper's behavior only aggravated the situation and discouraged us from considering future stays at your establishment.

While we understand that mistakes can happen, we hope that you will take our feedback seriously and implement measures to improve the quality of service and staff at your hotel.

In conclusion, we are profoundly disappointed with this experience and are not inclined to return to your hotel in the future. We hope that you will learn from this situation and strive to enhance the quality of your services

The hotel was comfortable however my single room with a sea view was more like a monks cell than a nice hotel room. One single bed pushed up against the wall and a desk on the other wall. No coffee making facilities or any other amenities.
The view from the balcony was great just over the road to the beach. Unfortunately the windows weren’t sound proofed so a bit noisy.
I’ve stayed here before and the room was much better so probably just bad luck I got that room.

Bike Friendly. Excellent stay & great staff.

Beautiful hotel. Room has a big balcony overlooking the street, promenade and the Mediterranean sea. Sleep to the sound of crashing waves. Reception staff is very friendly, helpful and speak fluent English. Bike is parked in the side auditorium. Room comes with a complementary hot breakfast with lots of hot & cold selections in beautiful dining room overlooking the sea. Highly recommended.

Three friends stayed in 3 single rooms to go to Monte Carlo tennis.
Rooms smallish but ok, beds comfy. Bathroom good. All very clean.
Hotel a little tired , maybe some new garden furniture ?

Position good by beach and town.
Highly recommend, will stay again next year.

From the outside the Balmoral looks a nice hotel, however, that’s where it ends!
Our room was tired, small and extremely dated!
The curtains let in most of the light from the hotel lights and we might as well slept with the lights on. Our room was at the front of the hotel with fantastic sea views from the balcony but come night time and again from 6am, the road in front was a moped racetrack, with the old windows letting all of the noise, making sleeping impossible!
The female member staff on checking out was the most miserable and rudest member of hotel staff that I’ve ever met! She clearly needs another career other than customer service!
Breakfast was also very poor!
My recommendation would be to stay clear of this place and look for something nicer with better staff elsewhere.

Small hotel sited between the seaside and the pedestrian mall. Good restaurants nearby. The room was relatively sparse but adequate. Menton is a great place as a base to see the riviera and also go into Italy. The hotel has a parking agreement with a car park nearby which is great value.

good value in great location ,excellent service.

I stayed 2 nights on business during a very busy period of MYS MONACO .
The room rate was commensurate with the room so I was not expecting luxury .
The mattress was poor and the en-suite shower small and a little dated ,but very clean and good for a short stay .
The clientele were elderly , and the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly .
Breakfast buffet was standard fare .
I managed to park outside pay and display , twice ,which was great for a quick get away in the morning .
There was a good restaurant next door .
Beach view looked good , but I had a side street room which was a fine as I was only their to sleep .
Nice outside garden .
Overall good location on the seafront , very good value for location and inclusive of breakfast .

The location is absolutely great as the annex rooms (where we stayed) have a balcony right on the waterfront boulevard, but there lies the only issue - noise. The street in front of the hotel is quite busy with trucks, scooters, etc. starting at about 6:00am. The french doors, although they are double paned, do a surprisingly bad job of insulating the noise. I'd suggest asking for a waterfront room in the main portion of the hotel, not the annex portion. Although it's farther from the water and the view is definitely not quite as dramatic, the distance should provide some welcome relief from the noise. IF view is more important than being able to sleep in past 6:00am (maybe you're an early riser and will welcome the built in alarm clock), make sure to ask for an annex room that's on the 1st floor (USA 2nd floor) as they have much bigger terraces (especially the westernmost two rooms - 119 and 120 I believe.)

Loved the location in the city center, just behind the beachfront and at one end of pedestrianized Rue Saint-Michel filled with shops, restaurants and cafes. The main beaches are just beyond, on the other end but still walking distance.

The property is dated -with no visible renovations- but it is clean and retains some charm. Our room had a small balcony with partial sea view, as there is a building blocking the view. There is no lounge, bar, or even a sofa at the entrance/lobby area.

The patio garden is attractive, faces the beach, and you can take your breakfast outside. It is a very basic breakfast buffet. This was a last minute booking and I still think it was a good value.

The hotel seems to cater to an older crowd. We loved Menton so much, charming and crowd-free, we decided not to cross the border into Italy and got to know the town a little better. It did not disappoint. Just wished we had booked that reservation at Mirazur!

A very well situated hotel right in the middle of the shops and restaurants with the seafront just across the road and a 10 minute walk from the station. It could do with redecorating with a lot of stains on the corridor carpets but the room was a good size although the bathroom was a little tight. Breakfast was basic but adéquate.

The property was clean, and we had no issues during our stay! The staff also spoke very good English which made things much easier considering our party did not speak much French. I asked for a room with a bath. They had 25 weeks between booking and arriving to tell me none of the rooms had baths. They offered a refund but there were no hotel vacancies in Menton: there was a festival on, which is why I was there.
I also paid extra for a sea view but had to keep the shutters closed because the curtains were too small.

We enjoyed our stay here. Our room was quite small but the view of the sea from the window more than made up for that. The hotel was originally a grand old Edwardian mansion and the breakfast room in particular is lovely. The location of the hotel is excellent; one entrance is on the sea side the other on a pedestrianised shopping street. We would stay here again, if we return to Menton.

You can’t get to the hotel by car so you have to find a place to stop and walk to the hotel. Parking (pay) is about 200 mtrs from hotel-not convenient if you have heavy bags. It’s about 200/300 mtrs to center of town. Girls at the desk could not recommend a restaurant. I was told to go toward the center of town and I would find plenty of restaurants-was given a map of Mentone. Breakfast was ok in a nice room overlooking the ocean.Overall a pretty decent hotel with quiet rooms. I was under the false impression that they had their own parking and that you could arrive directly at the hotel with the car to unload baggage. Good rapport quality/price off season.

Awesome hotel in heart of Menton!

Fantastic location, directly on the sea, tons of restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity, very happy to recommend this place, would have booked additional nights but there were no vacancies, popular destination!

Historic hotel on the beach

Room assigned at check in was unacceptable - too small and right beside elevator. Manager agreed to change to much better room in the old wing. Great, if noisy, location right on the road along the beach
Free breakfast is a bonus.

We recommend the Vacances Bleues Balmoral

This hotel was exactly as advertised. It's in a great location, right on the main road overlooking the sea. We'd asked for a room with a sea view, and that's exactly what we got, including a lovely balcony. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent.

Affordable stay on the C'ote d'Azure

Great place to stay in Menton. Menton is a decent sized town to get the Riviera experience. Not too big, not too small and very affordable.Hotel is in a great location across the street from the beach and also on the pedestrian only street with shops and restaurants out the back door. Hotel staff were great...friendly, helpful and accommodating. Everyone spoke English xcept for the maid. Would definitely stay there again

Great location on the seafront.

Super position....the hotel is on the beach at one entrance and in the shopping area from the other entrance!
Lovely open reception, stairs and lift up to bedrooms. Our room had a large balcony which looked over the sea. Although not enormous the room was adequate, nicely furnished with comfortable bed!

Chambre rénovée avec une superbe vue sur la mer.
Dommage que la rénovation n'ait pas portée sur les fenêtres (pas de double vitrage) car du coup, on entend la circulation.
