Great location next to casino in central area. We got 1st floor room with great sea facing balcony room. At night waves crash below on columns as hotel is on ocean so a bit scary. Hotel staff helped us move to another floor for next day.

However, in my opinion, the rooms could benefit from a slightly more modern style and decor, especially on the balconies.

There was a rat on the 7th floor. Running around the hallway. Spoke to the manager and they offered a complimentary bottle of champagne. This bottle did not show up! Went back to the front desk to chase this up. They claimed that we were offered a free meal at the hotel restaurant instead. This was not communicated to us directly so we were unaware and the manager I spoke with on the second occasion was not helpful at all. He was rude and abrupt when I explained the situation. I told him I wasn’t communicated with regarding the meal. We put our trust in to this hotel and the staff but it was a real shame that they acted this way. Will not be returning.

The staff was very nice, helpful and accommodating. The service at breakfast and the restaurants was warm and welcoming, The breakfast room was fully staffed and had a really wide range of items for everyone. We had multiple meals at the restaurants and everything was very good.
The valet situation was very hectic in the off season, so I can only imagine how bad it was during the summer. There has to be a better way to make getting your car out for the day in a more organized and efficient manner?
The hotel is older, and definitely needs an update and the outside cleaned up or refreshed. The fact that they are busy should not be a reason for having to “pre book” the bell hop. I have never heard of this being an issue in any other hotel, perhaps they need more staff. We did pre book one, and he was prompt and efficient.
Overall the location was good and very walkable to the casino, as well as restaurants in the area.

Property was in a great area, however the bar on the top floor was BEYOND loud all day into the evening. Crowds looked into bedrooms and one of the rooms smelled extremely smoky but we made do.

I have emailed the hotel months in advance, requesting a particular floor in the hotel, we had stayed there 6 times already and were happiest on floor 4, city view. When we arrived this request had been ignored and we were allocated a floor which we did not want. I am unhappy at having to complain but did so as this hotel is not exactly cheap. We were eventually given the room we preferred, I just did not feel good about having to complain in the first place.

Stayed very briefly, less than a day. Check in was easy. Concierge was very helpful - they got me an early check-in. Gave me recommendations for the area and helped me contact a local venue about a misplaced gift bag.
Great area to stay and the hotel has everything you need. Would return!

They told us we would get a rollaway bed - we didn't get that either because we had to call after we said we would take it. On our last morning we received breatfast on them to compensate. A Deeply Disappointing Stay – Far From 5-Star

I stayed at Fairmont Monte Carlo for 14 nights, expecting comfort and service. Instead, it was one of my most frustrating hotel stays. At check-in, staff claimed I booked a different room and refused to check my confirmation. Only after repeated pushback did they correct it.

The bellboy said breakfast was included for all 14 days. Later, I was told it wasn’t and would cost €70 per person/day. When I raised this, I was met with excuses and even laughed at by front desk staff. No accountability.

Service was cold, dismissive, and unprofessional. I never once felt welcomed or respected. I chose not to spend anything at the hotel’s restaurants or bars, including Nobu and Amoo—they didn’t earn my business.

Housekeeping was unacceptable. Used shower caps were taken from the trash and placed back in the shower. Essentials like body wash, tissues, and slippers were often missing.

What upset me most wasn’t one incident—it was the consistent negligence and lack of care over two weeks. No one ever followed up or took ownership.

The “5-star” title may suit the building, but not the experience. Look elsewhere if you expect real hospitality.

Everything was great at the hotel however the room I’d booked wasn’t available (2 x double beds) - we were advised the king bed would be big enough for 3 .. not true! So we ended up with a temporary bed added to the room which was extremely uncomfortable for my 17 year old. Finally after complaining again we were given the original room with 2 doubles. Not the garden view we were promised but a sea view however I think the room needed a little refreshing. The rest of the hotel was beautiful and staff were excellent, breakfast was amazing with a beautiful view over the med towards the harbour. If it wasn’t for the room debacle / faff it would have been a 5 star stay.

Wenwere changed from our hairpin view to a sea view which they called an upgrade but we didnt ask for. So we didnt get to see the hairpin from our room. The bed was comfy but the pillows.. wow they were the worst pillows i have ever seen.

Quite a shame the way this went. We booked a suite with the sea view which was one of the best rooms they offer, and what they gave us was a room that was not finished with renovations and a bathroom that was did not have any fixtures, lighting, and in fact wiring hanging from the ceiling. There were no mirrors installed yet and the walls of the bedroom were not finished. We only discovered all of this after the wife was looking for a mirror for the beautification process...which is critical to happiness for a lady! After calling a few times to explain the dis-satisfaction, they agreed to move us. That move was to a proper room that was finished with a sea view. The most frustrating think was the lost time unpacking-packing-unpacking again and missing a couple things that were not returned of found form the unfinished room. For me it is very rare to have an experience like this form a 5 star place but I think this place is so big you're like a commodity to them. It's almost like the all inclusive resorts but everything is ala-cart$$$$$$

This Fairmont location fails to meet the standards typically associated with the brand. The hotel did not have the room ready at the promised check-in time, resulting in an unreasonably late check-in. Despite this delay, management attempted to charge for a late check-out — a tone-deaf and frustrating policy given the circumstances.

The overall operation felt disorganized and poorly managed. Frontline staff appeared unsupported and lacked clear direction, which points to a failure in leadership rather than individual performance. The absence of structure and training was evident throughout the guest experience.

Having stayed at other Fairmont properties, the contrast in service quality was stark. This property simply does not reflect the level of professionalism and hospitality one expects from the brand. The core issue seems to stem from ineffective management and a lack of accountability at the leadership level.

Not recommended — especially for guests familiar with the higher standards upheld by other Fairmont locations.

Profondément déçus après 15 ans de fidélité

Nous séjournons au Fairmont Monte Carlo depuis plus de 15 ans, mais cette dernière expérience a été un choc. Ce sera malheureusement notre dernière fois.

La chambre “upgradée” qu’on nous a proposée avait une forte odeur de vestiaire fermé, comme si elle n’avait pas été utilisée depuis très longtemps. Elle n’était pas abîmée, mais complètement inanimée, sans fraîcheur. L’intervention du service de chambre avec un spray n’a rien arrangé — au contraire.

Le petit-déjeuner au restaurant Amu a été un véritable chaos : longue file d’attente pour être placés, des serveurs débordés, et un service tellement lent que nos plats sont arrivés… au moment où nous partions.

Suite à nos plaintes, l’hôtel a “généreusement” proposé de nous offrir le parking à 85 € la nuit. Une réponse bien maigre, surtout pour un hôtel de ce standing.

Le Fairmont était autrefois un établissement de classe et de discrétion. Il est devenu une usine impersonnelle.
Dommage. Vraiment.

Iconic Monte Carlo Hotel

My absolute favourite place to visit in the world. Service is top notch, the rooms are clean and modern and there are some fantastic views to be had (the Loews Hairpin being my favourite). Easy access to the Metropole Shopping Centre, La Rascasse is maybe a 15 minute walk away and Casino Square maybe 5 minutes.
