Warm welcome, lovely room with sea view, good breakfast freshly cooked to order, convenient for station and town and very clean and tidy.
Even randomly met the owners in a harbourside pub - their son runs the hotel and is the breakfast chef . Truly a lovely family business.

Headline: well worth it

The Lerryn is a family-run hotel with all that entails, both positive and negative. And there is a lot to like. The hotel is clean, fresh and modern (a substantial revamp in 2014, I believe) with few rough edges. The room had a homely quality that you won't find in a corporate behemoth, and any minor signs of wear were perfectly acceptable. The bed was comfy, the furniture perfectly functional, and the cleaning was excellent. Downstairs, the honesty-based bar was refreshing, and the dining room was very smart. The breakfast was excellent, with particularly fine bacon. So, why the missing fifth star? The devil, as ever, is in the details. Arriving on a gloomy, rainy evening, I found a locked front door and a sign to ring the bell. Ringing the obvious doorbell on the right elicited no response, but after 5 minutes, I spotted the somewhat camouflaged doorbell to the left, which resulted in a pleasant but oily (as in engine oil) young son allowing me entry. We then had a panic as my room keys were missing from the front desk. After a phone call with Dad, we went up to the room to find the keys still in the door. Unfortunately, you don't get a second chance at a first impression. Later in the stay, I had a blown bulb in the bedlight that needed a special order bulb (?), a coffee machine in the room that needed descaling to use and no clear information pack on arrival. All small potatoes, but enough to miss perfection. However, I can definitely recommend the Lerryn for your stay.

A nice stay in well located Falmouth hotel - very reasonably priced hotel decor is slightly old but the rooms are clean and well equipped with coffee maker and comfortable bed with nice fluffy duvet and linen . Electric shower was nice in a well proportioned bathroom . My room was upgraded on arrival to a top room with excellent sea views . Breakfast was very good and served with style . I would definately recommend as a stylish yet economical hotel with friendly staff .

Stayed one night for a Uni drop off. Staff were friendly and the hotel was very clean. Our only complaint was how slow the breakfast was. We waited over a half an hour for our food and the waiting staff were very slow in clearing and serving. The food when it came was lovely but service needs to be much quicker.

Overall was an okay stay, the hotel was nice and in a great location. Staff were lovely and the room was as described however the stay let itself down on a few details. The room was provided with only half of a toilet roll and no spares, the hotel only had one iron for guests and when requested, it was in use and was never brought up. Breakfast was nice but staff were not prepared for the number of guests and took 20 minutes from when we sat down to take our order, with food taking another 20 minutes. Shame as it could have been a great stay.

A conveniently located hotel: close to the sea and only a 10 min easy walk into Falmouth. Managed to park in the small car park. My room was spacious and had everything I needed, albeit my mattress felt a little old (not a lot of give) but I won't hesitate to book again.

The hotel itself is ok, looking a bit tired, could do with a freshen up. We had a standard room, needed some hooks to hang coats towels etc on. The overall stay was ok, staff were friendly, quality of breakfast was good but waiting time for breakfast was totally unacceptable, waited over 1hr 30mins, because of this we will not stay again.

I am reluctant to write this review, since I know how hard it is in hospitality to build up a good reputation. Those of you complaining about a stale croissant might want to remember that. However, this was pretty serious. I reported the matter to a member of staff and asked for a manager to call me. On hearing nothing I emailed. A week later, still no reply.

I booked the room for one night. At 2am I was awakened by intense itching of my feet and legs. When I pulled back the duvet, I was greeted by a number of bed bugs. Squashing one revealed that it had been feasting on my blood. Switching the light on, I was able to see more on the walls and carpet. The room was infested.

There is no way you could pay me to stay in that room again, so requesting a refund from the hotel seemed more than reasonable. The fact they could not be bothered to reply, probably suggests they won’t bother to fumigate the room either.

Really enjoyed our stay at Falmouth staff were so friendly polite and helpful. Breakfast menu was really good. For me i would give top marks for cleanliness. My only negative observation was maybe not enough staff to cover the very busy breakfast period. This did not effect us personally.

Sadly was really looking forward to my two night stay. I arrived late and keys were left for me. No issues. Breakfast was okay but communal offerings such as Yoghurt and fruit were low and not topped up despite there not being many of us for breakfast at that time.

Upon checking out, I stated to a staff member that I would be leaving early (before breakfast starts) and wondered whether I could grab something to go on my journey home. The member of staff said she'd check this and went to speak with her colleague. I heard 'For f*** sake.. that means I have to come in early.. tell him he has to be there on time and he can have what I give him'. Not the kind of reaction from a hotel you would expect.

I phoned ahead later that evening to say that I would be checking out at a normal time, as the evening events had changed. I arrived at breakfast and the response was 'oh.. are you the one who didn't show' - ( I did state I had phoned to push back my check out time to 0830) 'The chef isn't very happy.. you'll have to wait until everyone else has been served before I can serve you' - again a very poor attitude towards a guest. I had a 6 hour journey to make and was not waiting till 1030 to have breakfast. Despite showing my call log to the young staff member I then stated that I cannot wait and that if possible, could I take a coffee to go.. the response I got was also 'no' Really poor attitude towards guests and completely changed my view on the hotel. Would not return.

Very good value for money in an excellent location close to the waterfront in Falmouth. Breakfast was excellent. The only downside was that it gets noisy with banging doors, people walking in rooms above and housekeeping leaving room doors open with radios blaring whilst they're cleaning the rooms.

Great location as had taken me daughter back to her student accommodation and was only a ten minute walk back into Falmouth town. Very welcoming staff and room was a good size and well equipped. Upgraded to a double room at no extra cost on arrival. The bed was a little on the soft side but still had a good nights sleep. The room was quite cold as could not get the heating on. On the whole the stay was excellent and would definitely stay here again.

Me and my daughter had a great time here. It’s a very clean and cozy hotel. Only a few minutes away from the sea front. The staff were friendly and cooked a lovely breakfast. We were both upgraded for free so had even better rooms. I was able to park in the hotel parking lot- there’s only 4/5 spaces but lots of free on street parking available as well. Will definitely be booking here again.

Pretty good place for solo traveler

So I was a solo traveler when staying at the hotel. I was visiting my brother who is at university. The hotel staff are very nice and welcoming. The cleaner checks your room everyday to clean it and to make sure you have enough tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits. Also soap and shampoo etc. They also offer clean towels everyday if you need them. There is free Wi-Fi and a television in the rooms. The hotel is also pet friendly with their own pet dog there. Free breakfast every morning, hot food and cereal, yoghurt and fruit on offer. There is also a bar with snacks. The hotel smells nice and fresh. The hotel in general is very clean. I have nothing negative about this place and I felt very safe staying at this hotel as a solo traveler. (I stayed for a whole week)

The hotel is next to the sea. If your window doesn’t face the sea, you step out of the hotel and boom there is the sea. It’s about a two minute walk to the beach and a 3 minute walk to the train station and a 5 minute walk to the town.

Nice area, nice staff, above average breakfast. Good complementaries in the bedroom too, but no fridge. It was nice it had parking. Everything else was pretty bad. Old and in need of maintenance. The bedroom was small. It was so hot; no AC was available, not even a fan. Opening the window didn't help much and it was a dirty window, especially the frame. The bathroom was miniscule, and this is where the problems really started. The door was broken, wasn't easy to move, and didn't really close. The lightswitch was upside down, it's nitpicking but was annoying. The sink tap didn't work very well, and I needed to go from cold to hot back to cold to make it work at the temperature I wanted. The toilet took so long to refill the flush after use, I thought it wasn't working. It was convenient it was summer and mostly wanted to take cold shower, because it was not easy to use... It was either cold or very hot. But the worst was that we barely had any WiFi in the room, and when it connected the speed was barely 2mbps you couldn't really use it. False advertisement if you asked me.

So good I extended my stay

Been on the road a while and have seen the full range of what Britain and Ireland's hotels have to offer - suffice to say I really needed what this hotel has to offer - namely a full night's sleep (like a log) a decent shower and all the extra touches (of which there are many, including a coffee machine and fan for the room) which went the extra mile in making me feel completely relaxed, comfortable and at home. And I love the scandi style decor - very stylish and homely (the photos are true to life). There's also a lounge bar and garden for guests to use (views out over the sea and surrounding neighbourhood, which is very nice too). And just to say how great the breakfast and service is - 10/10. Would very much look forward to coming back.

Lovely 2 night midweek break - room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, my dog Otto was made to feel very welcome (as was I!). Dining room was out of action but no problem as breakfast was delivered to the room both mornings and it was lovely. Highly recommended for those who like to travel with their 4 legged friend. Also, for pre-breakfast exercise, the hotel is a stones throw from the front and a 10 minute walk to Gyllyvvase Beach and the delights of the Cornish Coastal Path. Likewise, Falmouth harbour and town centre is about a 10 minute walk in the other direction. Oh, and don't worry about the grumbles in reviews about the small car park (yes, it does only accommodate 3 or so cars) as there's loads of free parking on the street right outside the hotel.
