Rock hard pillows, uncomfortable poor mattress for sons separate bed for ages up to 17, he is 16, yellow staining around shower rim, filthy shower waste. Breakfast had to wait ages for service, then had to keep prompting staff for follow up service, staff appeared subdued, tired, layhargic, we waited over an hour to get hot food, upon arrival in restaurant tables were left piled with dirty dishes, when we asked a staff member after an hour where our hot food was, he simply said \"there's a back log\" - no apology, no nothing, even a smile or an offer of a hot drink would have been nice. Very poor attitude from him . Sad because the waitress who took our order was warm and hospitable. When food eventually arrived it was cold, dry, and over cooked. Not worth the money or the wait. Such a disappointing shame. Told receptionist on way out about our experience, the reply came \"unfortunately the extra beds in room are for children (my son is just 16), and we are sorry about the breakfast, and will make sure this is fed back. We said thank you and left.

The room was clean and spacious, with a small double appointed as a single bed which was lovely. Loads of storage space too. The bathroom was excellent, really big for a single room, and stocked with the amazing Bloom Remedies products I've come to love in this chain.

I booked last minute and asked to be placed in the quietest part of the hotel, which was accommodated. The hotel is a beautiful building with lush grounds, ample parking and is situated only a 10-15min stroll from the city centre, yet is really really quiet at night.

Breakfast, with table service and both hot and cold options, is generously portioned and also included in the rates. You're not rushed to vacate the table at all.

Reception staff and cleaners were all friendly and smiley, which speaks volumes for the ethos of the place. Cannot fault a thing, will definitely visit again as a solo female traveller.

This hotel is absolutely amazing we have stayed at the Alverton Hotel before so knowing it was such a beautiful hotel we booked it again. We arrived at the check in and had a warm welcome as always but then must to our surprise we also had a fabulous complimentary upgrade. This was so kind of the hotel, the staff are very friendly extremely helpful as well, the hotel is spotless and the food is excellent. Our hotel room was absolutely stunning I could not ask for more with this hotel and we have booked it again for Valentine’s Day. One of the best hotels would highly recommend this hotel to anyone what can I say a wonderful stay again with the amazing complimentary upgrade too. Thank you so much cannot thank you enough for your hospitality and kindness with the upgrade.

The hotel was lovely. Great spot to be able to walk to Truro City Centre. The room was very nice. We had a slight issue with room service but staff handled this excellently. My only mark down was in relation to a four star hotel having smokers congregating immediately outside of the reception area. Not ideal that you have to walk through smog and that’s written by an ex smoker!! Maybe should be elsewhere.

Absolutely fantastic two night stay with my friend. We felt instantly relaxed as soon as we stepped through the door, we were planning on eating out but just wanted to make the most of our stay.
The breakfast was fantastic as was our evening meals. And the staff were so lovely and super friendly. Can't wait to return. Oh and the place smelt divine and such gorgeous products in bathroom. Thank you.

Lighting, sockets, decoration, bathroom, furniture - all perfect. Even 2 comfortable chairs, that hardly ever happens in a hotel room, there’s normally just 1.

Yes the room was spotless, just two lamp shades were peeling. The staff were courteous and very helpful throughout our stay (they went the extra mile) and our room was very warm, quiet and very comfortable.
The breakfast was of high quality and cooked fresh to order but for the high number of staff, all of whom were very polite, the service and clearance of plates could have been quicker.

Bed was so comfortable. Room spacious and well equipped but maybe could go without the huge wardrobe for an easy place to charge phone.
Problem with the curtains that the hotel corrected straight away - impressive.
Google maps takes the car round the back to a wrong area but there is an easy entrance around the front.
Nice to have breakfast waitered to table but maybe have water on table when you first sit down as delays to get anything else if hotel busy.
Location good - 10 minutes walk into Truro.
All in all tho a nice hotel and a stunning building.

This is gem of a hotel for those looking to stay in Truro. A 10min walk gets you into the town centre, but the hotel feels a world away surrounded by lush gardens. A beautiful historic building that’s been decorated to a high standard. Staff were helpful - and I’m not sure how I managed it, but we got an upgrade to the Bishop Suite - a jaw-dropping room and a bathroom with twin claw foot tubs. Breakfast was good and so were the cocktails.

Always enjoy our stay at the Alverton. I've been in a few different rooms now. They are all equally comfortable. The main difference in space in the room. Enjoyed great cocktails at the bar and also a lovely meal at their summer bbq on this occasion. It's a convenient place to stay for walking into the city centre. Highly recommend a visit. Great for a night if heading to a show at the Hall for Cornwall.

We stayed as a family at The Alverton in Truro and overall had a good experience. The location is excellent and our suite had plenty of space. Staff were attentive and breakfast was a real highlight – all cooked to order rather than buffet style.
The Grade II listed building has great character, though ventilation could be better – after a shower the walls were dripping wet. The main let-down was housekeeping, which felt light touch: the bathroom wasn’t mopped or vacuumed, and the tissue box stayed empty for two days until we left a note.
A charming hotel in a great spot with friendly staff, but some improvements in housekeeping and room maintenance would make a big difference.

Over nighter on the way to Cornwall...

Good location, 15 - 20 min walk into the centre of Truro. Lovely hike to Malpas next day. Very comfortable room with huge double bed, good assortment of teas, complimentary shortbread biscuits and a cafetiere with ground coffee too.

Lovely staff with easy check in. Able to facilitate breakfast in bar with dog. Areas of hotel were tired, chipped paint in bedrooms and floor of bar where we had breakfast was dirty (probably wouldn’t have noticed this but our dog kept picking up stuff in her mouth like olives and elastic bands). Stayed in courtyard room which we thought would be more modern but previously stayed in the main hotel where we had a better experience. Great coffee bar in room. Bathroom products limited. Great location in Cornwall.

We loved the atmosphere of the Alverton and its grounds. There was plenty of space for parking and the reception was only a short walk.

The rooms we had were very well presented and very clean. I have marked down on the eco credentials as all the lights and television were on when we arrived which wasn't necessary.

The terrace was a great place to sit in the late afternoon for a pre-dinner drink. At times the bar staff were talking to each other rather than looking after customers needs but they were always polite.

We ate dinner the first night of our stay which was delicious and at a reasonable price. Breakfast was very good too. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

For £250 a night i expected a whole lot more.
Room was average size. The bed was small. The bathroom had mould in it - by the windows and all around the bath. Imside the bath either wasnt cleaned properlyor was stained. A used Toothbrush was left on the side. The fan for the room was broken in the middle of a heat wave. The room was also up 3 flights of stairs. For someone with mobility issues it was incredibly difficult.

Would not recommend.
A travelodge has better rooms.

Very poor experience. Room was next to the kitchen extractor fans, and so hot that windows and fans had to be on permanently throughout the night.

At breakfast, I had to repeatedly ask for everything, from a cup of coffee, to the ordering of my breakfast, to chasing up on this after it took an age to arrive. I was there for work booked breakfast for 0730, but it took a full hour to complete the painful exercise.

I told reception staff about my experience on checkout (as I was asked) but only got a relatively insincere ‘I’m sorry to hear that’ with no real concern shown about my experience.

Simply not a decent proposition with other hotels in the area, notably Falmouth.
