People - great, hotel expensive vs. what it offers

Búzios is beautiful. Priscilla and the girls at breakfast and Jonathan at the bar save the place. Cleanliness is low, different than Brazilian culture in general. Hotel in not kid or senior friendly at all.

Lovely spot for an affordable stay

A lovely hotel nestled just outside of the city center. The pool area lacks great wifi reception, and while they have food and beverage service throughout the hotel, I’d pass on the food. The breakfast is well appointed, especially with the fresh fruit. However, any food through the expanded daily menu was not tasty. The pool deck chairs seemed a bit dirty, so you’ll want a towel. Luckily, the hotel provides daily, complimentary towels for the pool or beach. Overall, the rooms were spacious, comfy, and clean. The staff was very friendly and the ease of street parking makes this hotel worth the value.

One of the best hotels we stayed in Brazil . I’m very picky about cleaning and this one was very clean. Everything (flooring, bed, walls, windows, curtains, furniture in excellent condition) and I loved the decor. Balcony was so nice with a large space, a table and a hammock looking at the most beautiful views.
The staff was very helpful and there were no waiting in line or waiting too long for checking in. The location is perfect! A 15 minute walk to the center and to the beaches.. I highly recommend this place.

Staff was amazing from the moment we arrived. It was raining so they ran out with a umbrella for us. They took our bags straight to the rooms. Also when we decided to extended our stay in Buzios and there hotel was booked, they offered to help us take our bags across the street to the new hotel. Hotel was very clean and in good condition. Will definitely be staying here again.

Avoid Búzios in January

Búzios over rated, over crowded and over priced as are the hotels which this is one.
Location excellent. Rooms not particularly clean and need of tlc.
Breakfast very average. £3 extra for omelette!

What a gorgeous place with the best view of the greenery in buzios. Perfect location for evenings in the centre - rua das pedras and orla bardot. It’s also a lovely walk away from loads of beaches - azeda, joao Fernandes to name a few. The staff were so attentive and welcoming with great recommendations. If I return to buzios I will always stay here. Beautiful beautiful beautiful !

Really beautiful hotel, with friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic pool area and cosy outdoor breakfast arrangement. Bed was a bit worn out, and the toilets are not really able to flush..they told us new toilets would be delivered within few months. Overall, in spite of beds and toilets, really recommendable hotel if you want a peaceful and relaxing experience.

This is a great hotel, great people working there, good locación ( near several beaches, places to shop and restaurants) and nice breakfast.
We had VIP+ treats ( early check-in and late check out, aswell as free drinks)but not room up grade.
We did not like the bed, we develop backache ( I was available to feel the springs), and they have a open gym, full of bugs ( I hate them, and it took me 10 minutes every day just cleaning them in order to use them).
It is still a place we would return to (this is our second time here), as the staff is always trying to make our stay pleasent and these are mistakes that can be quickly corrected

There was mosquitos especially at night. The hotel had paper thin walls and you could hear everything going on outside. Staff was very nice and could speak English. The breakfast was disappointing for such a nice hotel. I noticed on two of the days I went to breakfast at 8am every morning and they were missing items and the food was not prepared on time. It is family friendly and the master suite was nice. The wifi worked great oustide with the mosquitos but was terrible inside the room. It wasn’t that bad but I won’t go back there again. Also they advertise on as a VIP for Expedia. They didn’t give me any VIP treatment and did not offer to upgrade my room or mention it at all. The hotel was not full either. They did Accomadate for a child with a crib in the room though which was nice.

Made reservation in the morning and when I arrived in the evening they said they didn't have a room for me. They were very helpful and professional, but still they didn't have a room. They accommodated me at a neighboring hotel. That hotel was fine and staff was similarly very nice.

Buzious is great place to stay, our hotel was 5 mins from the centre. Where there was many restaurants bars and shops. They seemed to open up about 10 30 in the morning but shops were still open at midnight and bars and restaurants were way into the night. There were many sandy bays around. On the beach you had chairs and parasols that you didn't pay for as long as you had there drinks and food which worked very well. Our hotel Porto Bay was excellant it was a very small hotel the rooms were spacious as was the balacony. Staff couldn't do enough for you, a really relaxing enjoyable stay.

The hotel location, staff, service, breakfast, meals and drinks are truly excellent and highly recommended for any couples or family.
The friendly and kind staff went above and beyond to take good care of us when I was feeling sick at the arrival they called and delivered medication to my room.
Short walk to the main centre gave us an easy access to the local attractions, shops and restaurants yet the hotel ambience delivered privacy and a relaxing balance.

Mosquitos in room. Windows left open during day

This hotel is ok. It's a bit old and rundown. The breakfast is not very good. And the Windows of the rooms are left open duri g the day allowing mosquitoes to come in and rest and then wake up during the night. The management was good in allowing me to spray the room which killed all the bugs but then I had to sleep in a room with toxic mosquito spray in the air. The sheets and mattresses were a bit old too.

Great a stay in Buzios

Porto Bay Buzios sits atop one of the many hills in the town. It's a good 10-15 walk into Rua Pedra.
The hotel staff were all pleasant & cooperative and had no trouble in booking a boat cruise tour.
The hotel pool area is sensational, and there too is where breakfast is served. Breakfast offerings were ample & good quality.
Room was big enough and clean. Nice front outdoor sitting area, strong shower in the room and lovely garden setting.
Overall highly satisfied and I would definitely stay again.

All in all it is a nice hotel.
Besides the fact that we didst receive the Orbitz via reward I was offered, that the room was set for 2 and not 3, and then when we ordered food it took them more than an hour...
It was nice and pretty.
Wish it had a better view though.

Nice, quiet hotel not far from restaurants

The hotel is nice and quite, it's a waling distance to the shopping and restaurants. The closest beach is Brava beach but because it was a lot of waves we preferred to go to Azeda beach (by watertaxi or walk) which was nice and calm and warm. The Royal Suite has bathrobes, tea kettle and coffee (not for free!) and great view from huge balcony!

Superb break from the bussle of Rio

The rooms are fabulous. I had a junior suite that overlooked the pool area, but because they have trees, it gives you a real private feel.

The staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you.

The main shopping area and eating area is an 8-10 min walk.

Amazing beaches are also walking distance 20min or just hop on the busses that run up and down the area.

Key broke in the ignition and they made me pay for it. It wasn't much but more the principal. Your hotel was kind enough to cover the expense and I greatly appreciate that.

Comfortable quiet stay but avoid dining here.

The hotel is very tranquil and has a beautiful relaxing pool with a small fitness area. It is located outside the centre of Buzios (about 15 minutes walk) to the principal restaurants and bars. The hotel is also up a short but steep hill so not ideal for those who have difficulty walking. The staff were very pleasant and helpful but the pool meal service at lunch was dire with a burger taking nearly 40 minutes to arrive (after chasing). The bar also shuts early so it is not a hotel for socialising in the evening. The room was very comfortable but if you have a room on the ground floor it is dark because of the vegetation and privacy is reduced when people walk by the path-facing floor to ceiling window. Overall it was an acceptable stay but Buzios can be better enjoyed from one of the more boutique pousadas in the heart of the village.

Very nice hotel, friendly service, stable WiFi. It's a good 10 minute walk to the center (rua das Pedras), yet in a very calm place. The staff is very friendly, helped us organize a boat tour and on the last day let us keep one room until 17:00 with no extra charge.

Great hotel walking distance to Brava Beach. Clean and Spacious rooms and everything is high quality. Great staff with English speakers. Poolside breakfast. Open air gym with spa and massage. We had a junior suite and absolutely felt sad leaving and look forward to be back. Highly recommended for couples. You are welcome with flowers on the bed and a gift bag.

This is a place where to go if you want luxury no fuss and a place to relax after working to hard. Beautiful, quiet, cozy, charming... However if you want to stay in Buzios for longer, explore and be more in the traveler spirit you can go and stay somewhere cheaper because you will be on the beach all day anyway...

We had a great time in Buzios. The staff at the hotel was extremely helpful and service minded, especially Alex, who spoke great English. The grounds of the hotel were very beautiful, and the rooms were comfortable, but not quite 4 star like I'm used to in the US. More like 3.5 star (which I know is being picky, but want to be honest). Still, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the hotel was very lovely overall. Far enough away from the busy downtown area but close enough to walk to.

Very Pleasant Hotel in My New Favorite City!

This hotel fit the bill excellently for me. Its a short, but enjoyable, walk to downtown (10 minutes, and uphill on the last 100 yards on the return) but the distance and the hill give you a peaceful location with a lovely view! The facility is not for the handicapped...lots of stairs and I didn't see any elevators. But, if you're physically fit and can handle stairs, you will enjoy your time here immensely!

Peaceful location

A very relaxing break post a hectic time in Rio! The hotel is located a c. 10 mins walk out of town - easy enough to walk but far enough to feel out of it a bit! A very homely reception area perfect for relaxing, a nice pool area for lazing around. Beaches are also walkable which means the ability to avoid taxis! Overall very happy stay.

We stayed at Porto Bay Buzios for one night and wished we could have stayed longer. The people at the hotel were very nice. The location was good since it is about 10 walk into town and near the a beach. Although next time, I would stay in the city itself so then you are close to shops and restaurants/bars. And the neighborhood was nice. The accommodations were good. I would recommend to stay at a higher floor so you can get the view of the ocean. The room was clean and simple.

Very Pleasant hotel 20mins walk from the beach.

The hotel is very comfortable, and lovely if you just would like to hang out there. However, it is a fair walk on cobble stones, with some gradients, to the town and beach, and if you are there with someone older, as we were, this will necessitate frequent taxi rides. The staff were very friendly and the main lobby is extremely attractive, with a view. We would have appreciated a hot option at breakfast, but suspect it was not on offer because we were there at low season.

Nice Hotel but Has a Mould Problem

We stayed several nights at this hotel and the experiences were a bit mixed. On one hand you have the good and safe location, the very helpful and friendly staff, he delicious breakfast, the nice pool area and the spacious rooms. On the other hand some rooms have a mould problem and the bathrooms are tiny.
In my first room you could smell the mould right away. The wooden ceiling in the bathroom was full of dark spots and also the shower had plenty of mould. Quite an unpleasant experience! After I complained at the front desk they moved me to another room which was far better. I think the hotel should do something against this problem as the air humidity is quite high. Especially in the bathroom they should install a propper ventilation.
So if you are lucky and get a nice room this hotel is a great choice otherwise the mould could ruin your stay!

Porto Bay Glenzhaus - Perfect intro to Buzios

Entire staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was big, clean, & quiet. Morning breakfast was amazing (mostly assorted breads, cereals, cheeses, cold-cuts, juices). Coffee was better than any other spot in Buzios. 5-10 min walk into town or a quiet beach (Praia Brava). Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone visiting Buzios.

Really nice stay

It is a really nice hotel..!! big rooms!! next to the \"rua das pedras\", the pool area is also nice, small but nice! ;) but the best of the hotel is the staff...they make you fell at home... \"how do you like your eags ?\", \" Is everything ok in your room?\" ... \"can we help you in anything... \" (and they really help hyou out..!!! )
The only thing that could get better is the breakfast, for a 4* hotel...something is missing... :(

only problem, no in room wifi. otherwise EXCELLENT

as above, the hotel, staff, and surroundings are wonderful. I only wish they had in-room wifi. there IS free wifi in the lobby, but in room would be better.

Buzios

After spending a few days in Rio in some hostels (Rio hotels are very expensive!) our group (5 total, 2 rooms) was very delighted to stay at Porto Bay Glenhauz. I can honestly say for once that the pics on the web site actually do not do justice to the property, it is even better! No detail goes unnoticed including fresh flowers on the bed, a tote with the property name on it, an amazingly furnished patio, a gorgeous view of the pool and a delicious breakfast, including made to order eggs! I definetly recommend this place, I happen to get it at a really great Expedia rate for the mid-grade suite and think I would have paid double! Buzios is great, make sure to do a boat cruise of the beaches!!

Lovely, quiet location

Lovely hotel. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. After some confusion with our airport transfer, almost 3hrs on the road and finally reaching Buzios after 8, Alex was just fabulous at our reception and even assisted with ordering our dinner to be delivered to the hotel as we were too tired to go into town. It was nice to be slighty further away from the city centre as I could still hear muffled disco music coming from the centre, so you could only imagine how loud it would be if you lived right in town! Peaceful, convenient walk into town and beaufitful views from this hotel. It would be hard not to recommend it to anyone considering a stay here.

Not all it's cracked up to be

Great breakfasts, freezing pool, small room for lots of money and a cranky concierge. Not the woman, Gisele but the guy. Don't remember his name. Everytime we asked for help or a reccomendation he said, \"I'll find out later\".

There was another hotel just off of Rua Das Pedras down from the Pier that was so much more charming, a better location and cost less. Next time I'm staying there!

Great little boutique hotel

Very tasteful pousada with fantastic views to the ocean in the distance. Simple yet sophisticated. Lush tropical setting, Delightful staff (Giselle, Xavier, Alexandre). Everything kept very clean. Pool is not heated so of somewhat limited use from June through November.
