Hotel lives up to expectations. Staff are excellent. Riad very Clean. Room size was as expected in a riad and was roomy. Breakfast superb. Would definitely return and recommend wholeheartedly.

Nice Riad with friendly staff.

Nice Riad with friendly staff. Location I would say is interesting. Lots of run down buildings around but the Riad is like an Oasis. It's about a 20 min interesting walk to the main square. Breakfast was good. No door on the bathroom was my only little complaint.

Excellent host, and located to explore the Medina

Riad host was most gracious, entertaining and helpful - directing us where to park a rental car nearby in a secure location and meeting us there to assist us to find the hotel location.
Excellent breakfast and very nice in house Hammam as well.
Finding a single bed bug was the only downside, but as it was the only one could have hitched a ride from other travelers...the mattresses in the family sized room were otherwise very clean.

We stayed at the Riad in September.

The Riad is lovely, in a popular area of Marrakech where you can enjoy the market and to bargain in the souk. It is ideally located in the center of the Médina.

The Riad is perfectly clean and the employees are really kind and helpful. It is a typical propriety decorated in the pure Moroccan style. The bedroom was well furnished and decorated.

The terrace on the top was really enjoyable. It is a pure moment of relax and happiness to enjoy the Jacuzzi by night.

We decided to have diner twice. The chicken tajine and the couscous were delicious! We also appreciated the breakfasts that were typical Moroccan and varied. Thank you very much Malika!! Your food was extremely tasty.

We really felt at home thanks to Aziz (Responsable for the guests) and Malika (cook). They were extremely helpful and friendly with us, giving us excellent advices. Thanks for the nice service!!
It was a really enjoyable stay and we are gonna recommend this place without any hesitation!!

The only negative points :
No internet connection in our bedroom and on the terrace.
We were really chocked by the behavior of the two French owners of the Riad (Pascal and his wife). They were not treating well the employees and Pascal’s wife was even screaming on an employee in front of the customers... this is definitely not a behavior to have when you are the boss of a riad/hotel.

My poor rating of Riad Alaka is due to one specific incident that occurred during my stay here. I stayed at Riad Alaka for 2 nights 15-16 October and booked a hammam treatment. I was originally told by the manager on duty that the cost would be 15 euros. However, after the hammam was finished and upon check out, the manager on duty (Aziz) told me that it was 15 euros plus an additional 15 euros for local tax, for a total of 30 euros. (This would essentially be a 100% tax.) I contacted various other local hammams in Marrakech and was told that \"there is no taxes anywhere you go here , the price you pay includes everything , and not the clients who pay the taxes.\" As a result, I feel completely deceived and cheated by the manager on duty. Other than him, the rest of the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.
The place itself is traditionally decorated and clean, and the free breakfast provided is very authentic and delicious as well. The location is also only about a 15-20 minute walk to Koutobia/Jama El f’na Square. Had I not been conned by the manager on duty, I would have given Riad Alaka a much better rating. If you decide to stay here, I would highly recommend booking through third-party sites (such as Expedia, Hotels.com, etc.) just to have your booking confirmed and everything pre-paid in full to avoid situations like mine.

We are pleased by the willingness of staff to help. We arrived at the Riad around 10pm due to the delay caused by the day trip and have to leave early next morning. During our 10 hour stay in the Riad, the staff prepared our dinner as well as breakfast and helped to hire taxi for us. The Riad is located at the edge of Médina with easy to reach many places. It is very crowded at night market outside. However, it is quiet inside the Riad. The breakfast could be improved.

Many thanks for everything!

The Riad is charming! Pascal, Aziz and their team were welcoming and very caring. From arranging airport transfers to the fabulous vegan meals that Aziz prepared just for me, the experience was exactly what we wanted. The location was in a more local area although close enough to a main road with taxis but being first timers and after exhausting days of sightseeing, we opted to dine in for three nights. Simply wonderful.

Really nice place and lovely staff

My friend and I stayed for 3 nights at this riad and we totally recomend it. The staff was really friendly and helpful, the room was nice and clean and breakfast was amazing. We even had dinner a couple of nights there and the food was delicious.
The location is not very central, around 15 min walk from the main plaza, and just at the end of an alleyway. However, it felt like a totally safe area, it was lit at night and gives you the chance to cross a more local market.

A little gem in the Medina

What a lovely find!
If you are looking for a luxurious, quaint hotel where the staff truly cares about your stay, look no further.
Rooms are extremely clean, bed linen changed every day, outwardly food and incredibly friendly staff.
Having stayed in 5 stars cha in hotels such as Hilton and Sheraton, I would rate Riad Alaka higher any day.

Fantastic Riad

A superb riad in the north of the medina. Great location for both old city and nouvelle ville. 20 minute walk to Jemma El Fna or catch a taxi 5 minutes away. The staff were very friendly, helpful and also cooked us some excellent food. Room very comfortable and tastefully decorated as is the whole riad. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to friends.

Extra night in Marrakech

Spent an extra night in Marrakech and booked Riad Alaka when our original riad didn't have an available room. Alaka is not in the touristy part of the Medina just inside the city walls on the northwest side at Ave Hassan II gate but it's quiet and safe. With a 20-30 minute walk you can be at the palace, the souks, and other sights with the train station about 30 minutes away. The riad is located on an alley off a main commercial lane, think butchers, fish markets, scooter repair shops, bodegas, etc. Akala's manager, Azzis, was very cordial and friendly during our short stay making us feel very welcome. The riad seems to follow a typical floor plan with an open courtyard, a pool, and upstairs rooms overlooking the courtyard with well chosen appointments and nice architectural features plus a terrific rooftop deck with a working hot tub. A great place a little off the beaten path but well worth a visit. Breakfast follows a typical menu, bread in two or three forms with various condiments, juice, and coffee or tea.

A little sanctuary in Marrakech

The boutique Riad Alaka is very stylish with classical Moorish architectural details. It is very clean and the staff is friendly. The hectic pace of Marrakech can be overwhelming and this riad's location is just 15 minutes walk from the main Jmaa el Fna market plaza, yet provides travelers peace and quiet in a charming and colorful courtyard setting.

Neat place to stay, quiet location

Very friendly hosts. Just a little to far from the main square for our liking. About 20minutes walk. Other than that, nice breakfast cooked every morning for us. We were only ones in the Riad so maybe that is why we weren't given keys to our room and the Riad. Had a small safe to store our valuables. Not a problem as the host/s was always there to open the door, even when coming home late at night.

Marrakech was the first city on our Moroccan agenda and set the tone for an excellent trip. Aziz and the other gentleman that work at Riad Alaka are welcoming, kind, professional and extremely helpful. Two days in a row we had day trips and Aziz walked us out to find our bus to ensure we got on the correct bus and weren't left stranded. It was such a kind gesture and one that we appreciated immensely. I started to get sick the last day we were there and they were quick to get me a cup of hot water for my medicine which was much appreciated as well! I would stay here again and would recommend for others to stay here also.

As far as location, it's in a part of the medina we may not have seen had we not stayed there so was really neat to see what everyday life is like there. It is a long walk to Jemaa al Fna, but it's an interesting journey through the winding streets of the Medina!

Stayed at Riad Alaka for only one night but which I stayed there my entire trip.

If you want to get a taste of the old Morocco this is the place for you. It is located right next to the Medina where people are selling all types of wares and food in the streets, but once you enter the riad it is a different world.

The place beautiful and clean. Small pool right in the middle on the ground floor and hot tub on the roof. Eight friends and I rented the entire space. Our host was very humble and gracious and he is also a great chef. I suggest you ask him to prepare breakfast and dinner.

Nice riad at edge of medina

Very charming riad at the edge of the Marrakech medina. The proprietors were very friendly and helpful: they met our cab when we arrived, in order to find the riad; provided maps of the area; set up a cab ride for the train station and accompanied us to the pickup point; and even did a couple of small loads of laundry for us at no charge. The reasons we did not give it a full 5 stars were the lack of cleanliness in the bathroom (the tile around the sink was clearly not really cleaned), and mold found in the bread one morning at breakfast. We would definitely stay there again.

Don't look further

It is hard to imagine a better welcome and degree of hospitality. I haven't visited any other riads in Marrakesh so I can't make comparisons but for the manager here, Aziz, nothing was too much trouble. He is happy to cook in the evenings and uses a lot of imagination to produce dishes that are traditional but a bit different. When we wanted to invite some friends he was happy to cater for them too and did a different menu. You can also watch him preparing the food in his nice clean kitchen. We were very happy with our choice and thoroughly recommend Riad Alaka.

Fantastic Place

In short, I had had considerable expectations with the Riad's excellent reviewes - I can confirm that it lived up and exceeded all expecations. The friendliness of the staff is incredible and they will do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable... After 6 days it almost felt sad leaving our 'family' in Marrakech behind. Thanks for a great stay! Cannot recommend enough!

Riad Alaka is so quiet, only the sound of birds flying in to courtyard and singing in the morning. It is beautifully decorated and the spa and sauna for free are also a treat +256 783 728 886at the end of the day. Asiss cooked us a beautiful meal on the last night. Although there are cheaper riads we would highly recommend Riad Alaka.

Ideal location, 5 star service, beautiful hotel.

My sister and I stayed for 8 days here, it couldn't have been better. The service was faultless and so personal. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate our every need. My sister's birthday was during our stay Aziz bought a personalised cake & blew up balloons! We needed to buy some unusual items; Aziz went out to buy them for us himself. One day he cooked us lunch without us having asked & with no charge. For most of our stay we were the only guests & had pretty much free reign. We were given our own key and came & went as we pleased, one evening we got back at 4am! We had breakfast whenever we liked, often after lunchtime - they didn't mind a bit. We were upgraded to a bigger room without asking. Upon leaving we were able to check out at 5pm due to a late flight. The quality of the food was excellent, the breakfasts were delicious. The rooms were extremely clean & comfortable. The plunge pool was amazing & much needed in the heat! The roof terrace was brilliant, a lovely escape from the bustling city, we spent several days lazing there topping our tans up. Rooftop Jacuzzi was also great, especially at night after an evening out. The location of the Riad is perfect as everything is within 15 minutes walk & it’s next to the best fresh fruit market in town. There are also many little local restaurants serving delicious food for next-to-nothing prices. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Riad & if I went back to Marrakech I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Dans l'ensemble tout est bien. Mais pour ce qui est du souper offert par le personnel du riad, nous avons opter pour les couscous royale et Alaka, dans les deux cas le prix est trop élevé et la qualités ne vaut pas le prix.

部屋の鍵がかかってるのかイマイチよく分かりませんでしたが、物を盗まれるような心配は基本的にないので大丈夫だと思います。

全体的にまあまあ満足できるリアド。部屋は少し狭いかも。部屋に南京錠がなく（内側からは閉めれる）、フロントに「鍵は？」と聞くと、「ホテル全体がとても安全に管理されているから大丈夫！」と。建物の入り口はちゃんと管理されており、実際に安全な感じはしたので問題はなし。小さめのリアドですごく豪華ということもないですが、満足できました。

Très bon établissement.je conseille ce riad a proximité de tout bon accueil Aziz. sofian Malika.sont très gentils.serviable ainsi que les gérants aussi ..aucun bruit alors qu' il se situe en plein centre .. un jacuzzi hammam .massage et vous pouvez également manger le soir si vous le souhaitez petit déjeuner très bon a recommander pour un séjour à marrakech possibilité de tout faire a pied et pas très loin de l aeroport...

Excellent séjour !!

Idéalement placé dans la Medina, Le Riad Alaka, est aux portes des Souks, ce qui en fait un endroit idéal pour séjourner à Marrakech. Notre séjour a été très agréable ! Le maître des lieux, Aziz, est d’une gentillesse sans pareil, attentif à toutes nos demandes et de très bon conseil. Le personnel est sympathique et attentionné.
Le Riad est magnifique, dans un style oriental qui dépayse immédiatement. Les chambres sont propres, nettoyés tous les jours (avec nécessaire de toilette, peignoirs, sèche-cheveux).
Le petit déjeuner proposé est copieux. Nous nous levions très tôt le matin pour les excursions et le personnel s’adaptait et faisait en sorte que tout soit prêt à notre réveil. Excursions qu’Aziz avait pris soin de réserver pour nous et que nous conseillons vivement !! Nous avons pu profiter entre autre d’une nuit à Zagora aux portes du désert du Sahara, avec balade en dromadaire.

Nous recommandons le taxi mis à disposition par le Riad Alaka pour les transports Aéroport / Riad, ce qui vous évitera de négocier des tarifs parfois farfelus..

Un séjour parfait, nous recommandons ce Riad, dans lequel nous espérons revenir pour un prochain séjour !!

A reserver sans hésitation!!!

Nous sommes très satisfaits de notre séjour au Riad Alaka. Aziz le responsable de l’hotel s’est très bien occupé de nous. Il s’est montré à l’ecoute, disponible, sympathique et de très bon conseil. Il nous a réservé une très bonne excursion à ouarzazate et dans le désert de Zagora au cours de laquelle nous nous sommes régalés et pour pas cher! Il nous a également réservé un taxi pour notre retour à l’aeroport. Il s'est plié en 4 pour que nous soyons satisfaits de notre séjour et c’est le cas. Concernant le Riad nous sommes restés agréablement surpris par son incroyable propreté! Pas un poil dans la salle de bain, pas de poussière au sol! Rien. Les draps propres et une bonne odeur dans la chambre. Du plus, le Riad ne possède pas beaucoup de chambre et possède un charme familial et convivial ou l’on s’y sent chez soi dès son arrivé. Si nous retournons à Marrakech nous réserverons de nouveau au Riad pour revoir notre «tonton» Aziz comme nous l’appelions. Je recommande vivement ce Riad vous ne serez pas déçu des prestations!!!

Un séjour inoubliable

Le Riad Alaka est un merveilleux endroit pour séjourner à Marrakech. nous y avons passé une semaine des plus agréable avec un personnel toujours attentif à notre confort et au petits soins pour nous. Le diner confectionné par Aziz était divin. Sofiane, toujours charmant et attentionné et Malika, discrète et d'une efficacité redoutable nous ont également permis de déconnecter sans difficulté de notre quotidien épuisant.
Nous avons aussi eu l'occasion de nous ressourcer dans le spa du Riad, Hammam et Massage des plus relaxant.
Situé dans un quartier calme et peu touristique, nous avons pu apprécier le contact chaleureux avec les habitants avoisinants. Rejoindre la place Jeema se fait en 20 minutes à pied ou 5 minutes en taxi que l'on prend à la Bab Doukala, situé à moins de 500m.
Nous avons également profité des excursions qu'Aziz nous a organisé à Essaouira et dans la vallée de l'Ourika. un séjour parfait malgré nos mésaventures avec Air France que nous avons vite oublié.

Sehr schönes, kleines Riad in mitten der Medina

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Auf Wunsch kann man ein Dinner buchen, welches landestypisch und lecker ist. Das Team ist sehr nett und immer für uns da gewesen. Die Räumlichkeiten sind etwas sehr hellhörig, was aber kein Problem sein sollte, da man sich eh relativ zeitig aufmacht, um die Stadt zu erkunden. Sehr nette Atmosphäre. Individuelle Anliegen/ Arrangements kann man im Vorfeld klären ( ich hatte Geburtstag und meine Frau hatte im Vorfeld nach einem Kuchen als Überraschung gefragt ) wurde perfekt organisiert.

Takk for et flott opphold på Riad Alaka

Vi ble tatt imot på flyplassen og fulgt til Riad Alaka, der man møtte oss med en hjertelig velkomst. Et flott sted med veldig hjelpsom betjening. Alt ble gjort for at vi skulle trives. Riad Alaka ble som et hjem for oss i Marrakech. Kan trygt anbefales for besøkende til Marrokko og Marrakech. Alt vi ba om hjelp til ble utført med et smil og som den største selvfølgelighet.

Nice Riad near the new town

The Riad was very nice and comfortable. A couple of things made our review 'only' a 4: The safety box was not bolted to the wall and it was very difficult to open and close. Also the bathroom floor was flooding a bit after every shower. And I would have liked to have an easier access to the mirror or a makeup mirror. The jacuzzi was very warm but it had a slime layer to it once we got in. The wifi was not very good and we were unable to use it in out room. As you can see these defects are very minor and overall the experience was pleasant
