Very nice hotel. Modern with all you needed for a stay. Close to all major roads, walking was safe and staff members helpful. Our room was on the 3rd floor (no elevator) but not an issue for us, may be for some. Hot water took about 5 minutes to get to the shower in the morning, once it was there it was ready to go.

A truly charming house
Initially the name of the place raised some concern. However, entry into the house reveals this is no ordinary hotel. It is exquisitely designed, with spectacular spaces, a marvelous pool and great staff. So, I give high marks for what is truly a charming house.

This is a wonderful place to stay! We arrived a little early but they were able to accommodate us. They gave us a tour and made us feel welcomed. The breakfast each morning was plentiful and delicious. The staff was attentive and helpful. Duarte helped us book a whale watch and warned us we needed to book the thermal spring baths ahead of time. The room was clean and comfortable. I liked being able to open the windows. We could hear the ocean surf when we didn't hear the neighborhood dogs barking. We were pleasantly surprised to have shared access to a balcony with chairs and a table. Watching the sunset with a bottle of wine we purchased from the hotel was a great way to end the day. They had a decent selection of wines to choose from. The heated outdoor pool was enjoyable and the grounds were well kept. It was super nice to have kitchen access with an assigned shelf in the fridge and a cabinet with plates and glasses to use. It was clean, modern and equipped with whatever utensils you needed to cook or reheat a meal. There were 2 grocery stores within walking distance. It was a short walk to town and the beach. Parking was off street and easy. The location was central for exploring Sao Miguel. We stayed a week and were very satisfied. We highly recommend the Volcanic Charming House!

Photos and description show pool. The owner however rented out the pool one day and it was partitioned off and not available to hotels guests. I complied to the receptionist who called owner. No apology or compensation from the owner. Other than that the stay would have been nice.

This house turned into an hotel is amazing! If you are looking for a place to adventure all day and then have a quiet, comfortable, and nice evening with amazing views this is your place. My husband and I dined in every night because we loved the scenery so much. We will definitely stay again.

Our stay here was almost perfect. The staff was excellent as was the breakfast selection. We did not use the pool as hoped, but it looked beautiful. Great to have a full kitchen available to us to store and prepare food. Wish we had known this ahead of time (as well as close location to grocery store); we would definitely have planned things differently! Our room was small, but we didn't spend much time there, so not a problem. Great price/value for this stay! Good location; close enough for us to walk anywhere in town. The only thing I did not like was the see through bathroom wall, that was a deal breaker for me.

Such a beautiful space, and the staff were all extremely pleasant, kind and accommodating. We got a great tour of the property upon arrival and a wonderful and detailed explanation of suggested activities on the island, points if interest and personal recommendations. I have spent the last 30 years touring performances to different parts of the world and have stayed in at least 2 different places a month. As a designer I often find myself redesigning the accommodation where I am staying, reorganising spaces that are clumsily arranged. The apartment where we stayed was the most incredible space, beautiful and comfortable, I wished that we had stayed in this beautiful place for the whole of our 3 week residency at Ribeiro Grande.

This was a great stay and beautiful property. It is walkable to the town but a bit longer of a walk - still a great location. The room updates and whole feel are so lovely. The view was fantastic as we had a ocean view. Breakfast was yummy. The pool was a bit too cold for me during June but i saw some enjoying it. The advertisement stated that there is reception 9am to 9am but noticed there was often the “we will be right back” sign up often so keep that in mind.

What an amazing place to stay, I cannot say enough great things about the Volcanic Charming House. It is such a great place to stay while visiting the Azores. From check in we were greeted with a very friendly staff that spoke english extremely well they gave us a quick tour of the place and showed up the amenities. This property is in a safe neighborhood of Riberia Grande which is conveniently located close to a lot of things to do from Waterfalls to Geo thermal Hots Springs within a 20-30 min drive. It was nice to have easy access for parking our rental car beside the building as well. While there the staff were extremely helpful and knowledgable in deciding on what we should see on the island and what to do during foggy weather days. The rooms were modern and spacious and were cleaned daily. And the free breakfast every morning had everything you could ever want. I would definitely recommend this Resort to anyone visiting the island and would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here for five days in July. The place is clean, modern, and conveniently located. The staff is friendly, helpful, and considerate. I locked my key in the room and called them after midnight to help us out. They were responsive and helped us promptly. Excellent breakfast spread, access to the well-equipped and clean kitchen, espresso machine, and filtered water. Parking on-site. We loved our stay, and we would have no problem staying here again if visiting the island.

Super Unterkunft. Die Küche war super ausgestattet, für jedes Zimmer ein Fach im Kühlschrank sowie Besteck und Geschirr, 2 Herde, Mikrowelle und genügend Töpfe und Pfannen. Zimmer 6, das wir gebucht hatten, ist relativ klein und zur Straße, wir haben vor Ort in Zimmer 3 gewechselt, auch die 4, 7 und 8 sind zu empfehlen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfreich, uns wurden gute Tipps für Ausflüge und Restaurants gegeben. Frühstück war gut, immer frisches Obst

Bereits der Check-In hat uns irritiert. Der Mitarbeiter hat uns direkt ein Steakhouse empfohlen, zu dem wir unbedingt müssen. Danach gefragt, hatten wir nicht. Kam uns so vor, als würde er dafür Provision bekommen…
Die „Suite“ ist ein ganz normales Zimmer. Das Bad nur durch eine Glaswand und Tür abgetrennt. Keine Privatsphäre. Der Zustand des Zimmers war nicht gut. Sowohl im Bad, als auch im Schlafbereich bröckelt der Putz von der Wand. Zudem hatten wir eine Ameisenstrasse quer durchs Zimmer. Das ganze Gebäude ist sehr hellhörig. Wenn der Nebenmann auf die Toilette geht, hört man alles.
Das Frühstück bietet eine große Auswahl. Allerdings ist die Qualität ausbaufähig. Es war das erste Mal in 3 Wochen Azoren, wo es keinen frischgepressten Saft gab. Convenience überwiegt: Pancakes, Aufbackbrötchen, Mini-Gebäck usw. Das Rührei war auch grieselig, als wäre es aus Pulver. Lediglich das Obst, das Müsli und der Käse waren gut. Für unseren Geschmack auf Masse ausgelegt, nicht auf Qualität. Wir würden keine 18€ für dieses Buffet bezahlen.

Die „Suite“ ist ein ganz normales Zimmer. Das Bad nur durch eine Glaswand und Tür abgetrennt. Keine Privatsphäre. Der Zustand des Zimmers war nicht gut. Sowohl im Bad, als auch im Schlafbereich bröckelt der Putz von der Wand. Zudem hatten wir eine Ameisenstrasse quer durchs Zimmer. Das ganze Gebäude ist sehr hellhörig. Wenn der Nebenmann auf die Toilette geht, hört man alles.
Das Frühstück bietet eine große Auswahl. Allerdings ist die Qualität ausbaufähig. Es war das erste Mal in 3 Wochen Azoren, wo es keinen frischgepressten Saft gab. Convenience überwiegt: Pancakes, Aufbackbrötchen, Mini-Gebäck usw. Das Rührei war auch grieselig, als wäre es aus Pulver. Lediglich das Obst, das Müsli und der Käse waren gut. Für unseren Geschmack auf Masse ausgelegt, nicht auf Qualität. Wir würden keine 18€ für dieses Buffet bezahlen.
