We had a wonderful stay. The highlight was definitely the gorgeous beach view from our balcony, where we loved watching the surf and the pier. The staff was incredibly friendly throughout our visit, and the location is ideal—everything is within easy walking distance, including great local shopping. Highly recommend!

1. No cell service once your in the room. No land line either. I have an iPhone so I could only iMessage and couldn’t reach android people.
2. During the day the room is very loud. I guess it’s under the laundry room? So the walls rattle and it sounds like a loud constant base. I couldn’t get the toddler down for a nap because it was too loud for her.
I also talked to two people about doing a late night check in so I can be sure and get the parking pass. They forgot and I had to get it the next day from the office up the street.
Couldn’t make coffee because there were no coffee filters.
I love the location and it’s been my favorite beach since I was a kid but probably would never get that room again. Wouldn’t recommend this room either. Sorry.

I really wanted to love this place. It is just steps away from my favorite beach. Between buckling flooring and holes in the cabinets it’s just felt run down. The beds and rooms were clean but it needs some work. Parking was also an issue if you have anything other than a small car you will not fit in the parking garage which is a block away. Again I wanted to love it but we were disappointed.

Our coffee was only regular (no decaf) but when we needed more supplies the “desk” at Sea Horse resort didn’t have clue where we could get what we needed. (As a side note she delivered expired packets) Something to really consider is the noise of the trains coming and going. It was noticeable but not a dealbreaker. We will stay again but these are things to consider. A trolley stop is in front of the hotel. Great parking.

The view was amazing. The hotel was clean. The room was lovely. It was difficult getting up a bunch of stairs with luggage, the staff was stub par acted like we were a bother… We were told early check-in and then ended up being late. We're supposed to get in at three and it was nearly 4 before we were checked in. The maids were laid and getting the room ready not their fault. I don't think. We had to wait in the car for an hour. But the biggest disappointment was after a long day at the beach we brought dinner home to sit in bed and watch TV and the TV did not work! I called the front desk at 4:30. The gal told me that maintenance had already gone home for the evening that she would stop by after three more of her check-in, which could've been till 8 PM. She never showed up! We got up and left very early. Very very disappointing.

The property was partially under construction when I arrived and I had received the email about checking in next door but, it was fairly weird. I then found out I would have to park down the block and carry my stuff back to the room, which, wasn't exciting for me. The jacuzzi tub jets did not work, so I had to take a hot bath. The water pressure was bad and that bath took a while to draw. Also, the lights in the living room did not work? Thankfully, I didn't need them, but really?
The view was pretty nice and there is a shared patio. Before I got a chance to use it, some guy was out there conducting business loudly on his phone, which also spoiled my audio trying to hear the ocean sounds and relax. For the price, it was okay, but I'm disappointed, I would have rather spent more money and gotten a better stay.

First off, I want to say that the staff were very nice. The Casa Tropicana is fairly rundown, the tv didn’t work & that seem to be a problem in every room according to the other guests I spoke with. The flooring in the room we stayed in badly needed to be replaced. The bathroom faucet was very hard to turn on. The tile around the stairs was broken. The restaurant was closed and didn’t look like it was going to be reopened. The office was moved to a couple of buildings away and there was no sign telling you where to go to check in, I had to find 1 of the maintenance workers to tell me where to go. This is all too bad because we stayed there a few years before and then it was a nice place.

Picked this place based on the price and great views. We were glad we only had one night here. It is greatly in need of renovation. The bathroom set up was strange and jets in tub didn’t work. You can tell the shower above jetted tub was an after thought. Room was clean but very outdated. The train does go by often but wasn’t really a bother when trying to sleep. A great location right across from pier.

Not a good experience at all. Hot water system broke Saturday evening and they had to wait about 4-5 hours to get someone to reset it. Couldn’t shower before dinner or after dinner until 10:30pm. Staff was not friendly. They offered a free burrito for the inconvenience. The place is run down.

AC remote non operable. Initial parking and unloading was interesting to say the least If ur not familiar w the area and u check in the dark? Good luck...otherwise u cant beat the location especially being a surfer. Overall, great value for an off season trip

You can't get much better for being directly across from San Clemente pier. There's a variety of restaurants directly below the hotel and all you have to do is walk across the street to get to the beach. The hotel will provide beach chairs and towels. Everything was wonderful!

I don't understand some of the reviews about the loud noise they hear from the bar until 3am. I barely heard anything. The train maybe a little but it never really bothered me. Staff was great, very helpful and knowledgeable. Stairs are safe, but a tad strenuous for some of us older folks.

They sold are Casa Tropicana room (even though we paid in advance) and put us on the ground floor of the Sea Horse Hotel in a room that opened onto the sidewalk and people would walk into because they thought it was a store. Keep your doors locked if this happens to you! Staff offered a discount but it was fake we learned five days later once they realized money had already been paid through Expedia. After 14 years of every year, never again. These new staff/owners are deceptive at best and we are now pursuing restitution for never receiving the suite we were charged for.

This property is located 2 minutes from the pier & 15-20 minutes to a ton of shopping and restaurants. The room was quaint and clean. Paid parking is the way to go here as street parking is metered and no overnight.

We love this boutique hotel it is a little sparse on the big hotel amenities but it is very enjoyable to stay at. It has four stories but it has no elevator so be prepared to walk up and down the stairs. The views on each level are incredible of the pier and the ocean.

They say there is a night time emergency number but when I called it (could not get the gate open late at night), there was no answer. They never got back to me. I told the college kid at the front desk the next day and I got a half-hearted apology. Will never stay here again.

Also, parking is a bit of a trek and the first parking stall is not a safe spot to park as when you back out the auto gate opens and hits your car...not good.
