The best point was that the hotel offers a 10% discount at an adjacent restaurant with good service and good food. The room was clean but small and fairly primitive - ok for a night's stay close to the Tower and the excellent botanical garden and museum, but not a place I would want to stay any longer. The stairway between the 2nd and 3rd floors had towels strewn on the floor, and there was a smell of rotting food near the reception desk. (I might have just been there on a bad night.)

Very disappointing experience

The room was very dated and was in desperate need of a refurbishment. It did not match the example pictures on hotels.com which was very disappointing. The room lacked basic services such as a fridge which is less than ideal in Italy during hot weather. It had a kettle but there was no cups or tea/coffee provided so a bit pointless.
The room wasn’t clean on arrival with dust present throughout the room and hair in the shower.
The walls had splatter marks from where people had swatted flies and the shower had ants in it. I suffered numerous bites on my body during my two night stay. My partner and I felt itchy during the night.
The room wasn’t cleaned during our stay which sums us the hotels attitude to cleanliness.
The hotel was noisy and the room seemed to lack any soundproofing as we could hear noise from other rooms constantly.
The reception was rarely manned to speak with anyone as they were too busy supporting their adjacent business in the restaurant.
The only positive was its location to local attractions.

The hotel is 5mins walk from the tower of Pisa. There is decent street parking nearby but you do not need or want a car here. There are many food restaurants and bars walking distance. Facilities are dated but it is clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly. For example they can offer a €3 breakfast and can help you get a €15 citywide parking permit. I wish I could have stayed longer in Pisa.

The staff were friendly and the room was clean ( except for the inside of the shower, behind the shower doors). The room didn’t feel welcoming and was rather tatty and dated. Often, there were large sacks of dirty bedding and towels left on the stairs. The adjoining restaurant (La Corte de San Leonardo) was excellent.

The property was so lovely for an older hotel with very friendly and accommodating staff. Being informed that it is family-owned made staying there even more special. One can tell that there is a lot of care into maintaining the property and its ambiance. Staff was enthusiastic about telling us the hotel’s history, which was very interesting. The rooms were nice and spacious. They were quiet and very comfortable. The restaurant was a nice addition and the place is a very short walk to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. A great place to stay when visiting Pisa.

Had a very good two day stay. The location is so close in walking distance to Pisa tower and the river. Next to Pisa University botanical gardens and museum. If you’re a botanist you’ll appreciate the location, this is where naturalist academia began in the 1500. Staff is very friendly rooms were clean and serviceable.

Stayed here last night. Wifi was not working. Parking on street was free overnight until 8am, but impossible to find a parking spot close to the hotel. Very small room for a family or four. Air conditioning barely working in room and it was so hot that day we were unable to sleep.

We really enjoyed our stay in Hotel Amalfitana. The staff were really friendly and helpful - let us leave our baggage with them before and after check out to be able to explore and called us taxi when leaving.
The location is perfect -5 min (if that) walk from the leaning tower and about 10-15 min walk to train station and central shopping area. The building itself and rooms are outdated, however the toom size and cleaness compensates this in my opinion. Overall would recommend, as is really good value for money.

The Amalfitana is a clean, well maintained hotel, north of the river and 400 metres from the famous tower. 20 minutes walk from the rail station through the much more interesting town south of the Arne than the tourist infested northern side.
It is a no-frills hotel, suitable for 1 to 2 night stay but with very friendly, helpful staff. My room was adequate fro my over night stay. Breakfast in the adjoining bar was just the job, with freshly squeezed juice. The restaurant attached does a good dinner, for lower prices than the restaurants near the tower, and you get 15% discount.
Very happy to recommend.

Bed bugs!

Bee bugs! 2 rooms we had 4 of us had to share a bed. We all have multiple bites from bed bugs. Research shows this is a problem over past 5 years

The owner refunded the price of one room. Apart from this the room was clean and hotel is right near tower. I would have had nothing negative to say if it had not been for the bed bugs.

Please change all mattress and head boards

The hotel had what we needed for a 2 day stop off on our tour round Tuscany the room clean and the bed linen was spotless with towels and toiletries it would have been nice to be able to make a drink in the room but the restaurant and bar were on hand for a lovely Americana The most enjoyable part was the friendly staff especially in the restaurant and the food was good they were also helpful when our flight was changed and we were able to leave our luggage while we visited the botanical gardens and had a last look at the leaning tower. The location for us was brilliant and we are glad we were that side of the river

Bed Bugs Alert!

Staff was nice and friendly, location is good, room was OK for this type of a hotel.

We should have been cautious when we received a device \"against the mosquitoes\" upon check-in, and we indeed ended up with a bunch of bites around our bodies - but not from mosquitoes, rather from BED BUGS!! Afterwards we could tick off all typical symptoms: bites in a group or in a straight line on areas of the body that was left uncovered for the night (my forehead, arms and legs), small blood-marks and black marks on the bed-linen, bites showing up and becoming scratchy anytime between 1 and 14 days (me and my daughter got the bites on our second morning at the Hotel and then some new ones the following day, my wife only got them 12 and 13 days later - but they all disappeared in the same rhythm, and fortunately we didn't get any new ones later, in other hotels. We ended up washing and drying (at 85C) all of our clothes twice before we drove home later from our vacation - and now a month later we seem to be safe (but probably because we realized what it was in time, and did all pre-cautions not to take them home). But all indications point toward this hotel as to where we got all those bites, so be super careful and think twice before you book!!

Otherwise the pizzeria next door is also good - and as I said, the staff was very friendly. Too bad they don't seem to realize what their guests are being bitten by (NOT mosquitoes!).

Great hotel, short walk from Leaning Tower

The restaurant was under renovation when we stayed there, but it's a nice hotel. Nothing over the top, but it's a straight-shot, 15 minute walk to the train station. There is a bus stop at the end of the street if you'd rather take the bus (red line takes you to the station). And only a 3 minute walk to the Leaning Tower. Room was clean and fine. Again, nothing too fancy, but it served our purposes. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Handy hotel for visiting Pisa

Hotel is easy to find on Via Roma and within walking distance of the station. I had a single room, a bit dull with the slatted shutters to a small courtyard with the usual clutter of air-con units. First impressions not great but after a couple of days I was appreciating the standard of cleaning in the en-suite and having a comfortable bed so convenient for walking around Pisa. Staff friendly; own restaurant was ok but there's a lot of choice just a couple of blocks to the East. Breakfast at their bar is very good value (15% discount for guests) and I enjoyed a different choice of croissant with freshly squeezed orange juice each morning.

Very friendly and helpful staff (family-run). I had looked forward to relaxing in the small garden but the resident mosquitoes made this impossible. My single room had fairly basic furniture but all was spotlessly clean. I had a choice of 3 channels on my TV and none of those in English. My friend, in another room in the same hotel had over 30, including film channels, so it was a TV-free stay for me!

The staff really make this place. Friendly, helpful, welcoming, felt very comfortable here. Location is great, the bus (lam rosso) stops at the hospital which is 5 mins walk away. The restaurant attached is wonderful, in a patio garden, really enjoyed the food and wine, the service was excellent too. Room was perfectly functional and clean. Firm beds (which I like), nice bedding, comfortable temperature, clean bathroom and room. Easy check in, easy check out. Didn't stay for breakfast so can't comment.

Worn out hotel with old rickety furniture. Dirty room with mold & mildew in the shower. Staff was reasonably friendly but the only thing going for this hotel is the short walk to the many amazing sites in Pisa. Way over priced for such a hotel in need of major renovation.

A room at some BnB would be better

This place is about midway between the tourist attraction (Tower of Pisa) and the Pisa Centrale railway station; a walking distance of 20 mins from the latter. Nearest supermarket where you can buy groceries is around 20-25 minutes walk, although there are many cafeterias and one Indian restaurant serving nice meals in the close vicinity. Nearest public transport is again a 10 minutes walk. My room had the smallest TV that is ever known to mankind and an equally small shower room. There were two airconditioners, as the faulty, dusty, non functional aircon full of cobwebs was not removed. I did not use the other as it was quite cold. There was no heating in the room, although there was a small heating unit in the bathroom, which was non functional. Surprisingly, the hotel could not even provide drinking water, so expecting kettle with tea set was out of question. Summarily, I could spend one night with not much discomfort but i would prefer to stay at a BnB rather than this place, if given an opportunity.

The front desk attendants are very nice, the rooms are clean with a nice bed. However, our shower door was off hinge, the toilet water closet above leaked water down on you when you flushed, and the tv screen couldn't have been any smaller. With that said, its quiet, the free wifi is awesome, and the restaurant on site is a great option for some decent food among many restaurants out there in Pisa that are ripp-offs and tourist traps.

I booked this hotel with breakfast included but when I arrived they asked me to pay again 5 euros for the breakfast ! that's mean I paid 10 euros for a single breakfast !!! and obviously WI FI access was also \"included\" in the price and I should get access in my room but I never get this access !!! impossible to get any internet access !! and the last thing is the young guy at the reception barely spoke English !!! unbelievable !!!!!

This hotel was a 20 minute walk to the train station (someone posted that it took an hour... Must have gotten lost for 40 minutes, or stopped and got a coffee... We did it with a 10yr old in 20 min). The walk to the tower is right down the street... Maybe 5 blocks. The hotel was adequate, we didn't go to Pisa to take pictures in the hotel room. The staff was friendly, the room was small and a little dated. The AC was cold... What else do you need at night. The hotel felt safe. The room was clean but a little tighter than we are used to (3 single beds seem to be the norm when traveling as a family of 3). The hotel used to be a church. We would definitely stay here again if ever coming back to Pisa.

Wonderful Experience

This small family run hotel is a must if you travel to Pisa. The Leaning Tower is right up the street, a 4 minute walk. The family that owns the hotel made our stay memorable. If you are going to Pisa, this is the hotel you should book! We highly recommend it.

Clean, cheap and friendly

Got this as an off season bargain price. Really close to the cathedral and tower. 10 min walk from train station - Pisa is small!

Clean, mediocre hotel

We stayed one night, getting in late one night and leaving the next night. We had a triple room for 3 women. Although the room was clean, the beds were pretty bad, and the furnishings in general a bit old (not in a good way). I thought it was a bit pricey for what you got, except for the fact they are 5 mins walk from the Leaning Tower. Ok for one night.

Nice garden

The best thing about this basic hotel was the garden area where you could sit and have your breakfast or have a drink in the evening before bed.

Nightmare in Pisa

Don't be fooled by the old pictures this is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The beds are rock hard and if the person in the room next door is in the bathroom you hear them. If anyone on your floor is chatting you can hear them. If there are people in the garden below talking guess what you hear them. Do not stay here if you want to sleep.

Good value small hotel in very good location.

Staff were great, room was adequate and quiet as we were at the back. Clean towels every day. Very clean when we arrived but bathroom not cleaned during the stay. Excellent breakfast and good value at 5 euros. Nice small garden at the rear.
Overall we were very pleased with the hotel at the price paid.

Very Central

The rooms at this hotel were found to be very simple and very clean. The staff were all extremely helpful. The room air conditioning was a good feature. The hotel is very close to the main sites of Pisa - easy walking distance.
