They said there is parking on site and in fact it’s a very small garage on extremely small road. They didn’t opened the door to it either. I had to park outside and pay €56 for night and walk 15min to the hotel. Hotel itself reminds old glorious time of Italy, rooms very small and dirty. Employees very rude, poor breakfast and for 2 fried eggs they will charge you €8 and you need to wait for it 20min and remind them you ordered it. Definitely not recommending! They think you are a tourist and come there once, totally rip off!!

The hotel is very tired. Doesn’t appear to have seen any investment for years. Our room overlooked the road that runs in front of the hotel. It was very loud despite not being in use. You could clearly hear passers by talking when the windows were closed. The WiFi did not work. The roof terrace is open May to November, which was a shame.

All of that said, the location is perfect and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.

The location was perfect!! Breakfast was *the* best I’ve ever had included with a hotel stay. The bedding and sheets were clean, but the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest. There was no air movement except when we opened the window, which we didn’t feel comfortable leaving open all night. The fridge wasn’t cold enough for our food.

Ottimo servizio sia a colazione che alla reception! Siamo stati solo una notte ma ci siamo trovati molto bene. Ci si arriva in 20 minuti a piedi dalla stazione. Con i trolley la passeggiata è un po’ scomoda quindi forse sarebbe più comodo arrivare in taxi.

Camera pulita con acqua gratis, shampoo e crema per il corpo. Colazione molto buona, tipica degli hotel italiani.

The room was great and the location could not have been better! My friend and I ran the Pisa Marathon, and the start/finish line was so close to the hotel. The breakfast was delicious each morning! But most of all, the staff could not have been more helpful, from letting my friend borrow a charger to giving us directions back to the train station, they were always so pleasant and patient with our every need! I highly recommend the Grand Hotel Duomo to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay in Pisa!

Outstanding traditional hotel within the city walls a few hundred meters from the tower and cathedral. The best view of them and the city was from the wonderful roof terrace. You can eat and drink up there too. Lots of excellent restaurants along the same street. Hard to find fault with this one.

We loved the location of the hotel and the breakfast options. Gluten free options were available every day on request. Would’ve liked a kettle in the room as I do love a coffee when I first wake up.

There are many restaurants and a supermarket so close to the hotel that we were never short of options. We couldn’t figure out the air conditioning so slept with the window open the first night - we were eaten alive by sand flies/mosquitos so it remained shut for the rest of our stay.

The first 2 nights were incredibly noisy due to other guests shouting and screaming. However the following 2 nights were quiet and calm. The staff were helpful and friendly. We arrived earlier than check-in but were able to leave our luggage there so we could mooch around Pisa.

Amazing view from the rooftop bar. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others visiting Pisa.

Bed bites and dirty rooms and no apology

We stayed at Grand Hotel Duomo from 17th to 19th October for a joint 40th birthday celebration, and unfortunately, the experience was far below expectations.

Our first room (122) was in poor condition:
- The room was dirty, with debris on the floor and visible wall damage.
- Light fixtures were loose, curtains were stitched shut and couldn’t be closed.
- The bathroom drainage smelled strongly of urine, and the accessible-style shower would have flooded the entire floor if used.
- Only one plug socket was available, making it difficult for two guests to charge devices.
- TV wires were tangled and exposed, and the ceiling paint was peeling.
- Most concerningly, one of us was bitten after getting into the bed.

After showing photos to reception just after midnight, we were moved to Room 126. While it didn’t smell and had less debris, it still had a hole in the wall, marked surfaces, and midges flying around.

We raised these issues in person and followed up with a formal complaint, but received no refund or goodwill gesture. For a hotel marketed as 4-star, the room conditions were unacceptable. We don’t mind simple accommodation, but basic cleanliness and maintenance should be a given.

Would not recommend based on this experience.

The hotel is very dated and certainly not a 4 star hotel.

The room was clean and staff were friendly enough.

However, in our room the tv only showed one tv channel that was selling chairs, there was no iron we had to ask for one and the decor is very old and worn. The room didn’t even have a kettle etc. It’s a hotel badly needing a lick of paint and modernised.

Location wise it is a short walk from Pisa San Rossore train station and a few minutes from the leaning tower which is great.

Overall it is very basic, not 4 star and badly needing a revamp.

Difficile de faire mieux en termes d’emplacement près de la fameuse tour de Pise, car on rejoint la Piazza dei Miracoli en 2 minutes à peine.

Et que dire de la terrasse qui offre une vue sur les toits de marbre du complexe religieux de Pisa et de la tour. Un bar y est ouvert le soir. Le restaurant de l’hôtel était bondé, ce qui est bon signe!

Le service à l’accueil est impeccable, je dirais même digne des grands hôtels. J’ai eu la chance d’avoir ma chambre plus tôt comme elle était dispo, alors que je m’attendais à simplement laisser mon bagage en consigne.

Les chambres datent un peu, mais la mienne avait très bien vieilli. Tout est très propre et bien entretenu.

J’aurais aimé pouvoir ouvrir la climatisation individuelle comme il faisait encore très chaud avec le soleil qui plombait, mais à la nuit venue, j’ai ouvert la porte-fenêtre et le tour fut joué!

Le lobby est aussi agréable, un peu en retrait de la réception pour jaser un peu en toute tranquillité.

Le rapport qualité-prix-emplacement est parmi les meilleurs que j’ai jamais vus! Honnêtement, je m’attendais à pire pour le prix de xxx que j’ai payé pour un 7 octobre, encore dans la saison relativement haute de Toscane.

Chapeau à l’équipe qui ne s’est pas reposée sur ses lauriers avec son emplacement, mais qui continue clairement à bien s’occuper des clients et de l’hôtel!

Wifi was terrible! Couldn’t stay logged in. Couldn’t watch video or load Facebook at all. Room was ancient, blow dryer from 1950-1960. Bed was hard as a rock. Noise from street below was an issue but they do provide you with earplugs. View from upper terrace was nice. Food at restaurant was good but service was terrible. Took an hour to get drinks and another hour to get food. Very disappointing, we almost left. Front desk staff were nice, breakfast was okay. Location was fantastic but I Would not recommend this hotel.

The bedroom and bathroom were very large in comparison to other hotels in my time in Italy. It was in good condition and comfortable. The view from the window was of the local street and the tower of Pisa. We tried to get dinner at the rooftop restaurant upon check in at 9:30 pm, as the staff at the desk said the kitchen was open until 10pm, but upon arriving at the restaurant, the staff said the kitchen was closed and we would only be served drinks. Luckily there were several restaurants on the street happy to serve food. The breakfast the next morning was excellent. The buffet had a wide variety to choose from. The desk staff were very friendly and helpful.

Our flight was very delayed but the hotel has a 24 hour reception and we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff, which made the late arrival much easier! The buffet breakfast was a nice mix of classic options and Italian specialties. The view from the roof terrace was incredible! The property is located very close to the Tower and the streets are lined with good restaurants, lots of choices. Day one dinner I had steak very good, melts in the mouth, next day lunch pizza great, next dinner I ate wild boar stew and hhubby had Lasagna. The hotel has a breakfast buffet with lots a yummy stuff from 7am - 10am.
Go climb the Pisa tower steps at 8.30pm you can enjoy tower without crowd.

The setting is as romantic as one would picture it. The middle of the renaissance age, crystallized in time, and Grand Hotel Duomo sits right in the middle of it all.
Great rooms, especially for traveling families. Great restaurant and amazing staff. What else would a tourist need? Oh yes, late check out… they also have it. If in Pisa, this is a great option. Convenient and close to everything.

The host who checked us in was absolutely fantastic. Only had reserved for a night but had we known we would have booked longer. My only criticism is the halls were very dark. Was not impressed to discover that the random door in our room was actually a door to the next room. Thankfully it was locked but them returning back late and showering, chatting, playing music was not ideal - could literally hear them on the toilet! The door had a big gap under it so the light from their room shone through. Could also hear everything from the corridor and room above. Room facilities were basic - no kettle etc, not all bedside lamps worked. The hotel itself had the feel of once being grand but now being rundown and in need of TLC. Car park was impossible to get to with all the ZTL nearby so ended up parking on the street 5 minutes away.

Great Hotel let down by an incident

We stayed at Grand Hotel Duomo twice in 10 days. The hotel is in a great location, close to the leaning tower, cathedral and museum. There are a number of restaurants nearby. The staff were, for the most part, extremely friendly and helpful. The viewing gallery and restaurant on the top floor are beautiful, with magnificent views. I recommend a visit at sunset, We ate there once and the food was great. I can’t fault the restaurant in any way. The rooms are spacious, clean and tidy. This is a perfect place to stay for a break in Pisa. However, there was one an issue that prevented the hotel getting 10/10. On the last day of our stay, we came back from a day’s sightseeing at 3:30 to find that our toilet wouldn’t flush. I went down to reception to report this and the receptionist told me that he would get a colleague to look at it. By 7pm nobody came to look. I again reported the problem to the front desk to a different representative. Again I was told that a colleague would look into the problem. We came back from dinner to discover that the toilet still hadn’t been fixed!

Surely this lack of staff would have been known at 3:30 when we initially reported the issue? It is such a shame as this really left us disappointed with our stay

Great hotel in a very convenient location so close to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Only huge problem is parking. The hotel states they have \"off site parking\" which in reality is street parking that you have to pay extra for at the hotel. It's extremely difficult to find any open parking spots. 1st one we found was about a mile away. Had to drag our suitcases over narrow cobblestone streets that were quite congested with people and cars on a hot day. Eventually we were able to go back to our car late at night and moved it to a parking space 2 blocks from the hotel which made our departure much easier than our arrival. The perfect hotel if you come to Pisa by train or air.

The room was clean and comfortable. The rooftop terrace is a real bonus with beautiful views and easy access at all times and nice shaded areas to sit and enjoy the vista. The hotel is very close to all the major attractions on the doorstep. Breakfast was excellent, the staff extremely kind and helpful and the facility to leave luggage as needed, before check-in or after check-out. Best of all, they had our room ready when we arrived, well before the official check-in time. Very much appreciated.

The location was fantastic. Had a view of the Tower from our window as well as the rooftop bar/restaurant. Easy walk to everything. Great breakfast, nice room, no complaints!

Great welcome and check in. Room was clean but could use an update as the bathroom was quite tired. We got a free upgrade so had a great view from our room.
The rooftop bar was stunning however the outside tables of the restaurant were not offered despite us asking for one and willing to eat. Several remained empty throughout our drink stay which was a shame. However the views from there were exceptional making up for the substandard cocktails.
