I rarely leave reviews but honestly after the experience I had last night with the front desk now I must. When we got to the hotel we were already thrown off because outside there is construction & the path to the hotel was muddy & gross. Mind you we paid the price of a hotel that would be a 4-5 star experience. The room was not impressive. Hotel had a weird smell. The bathroom mirror was dirty, the tiles around the toilet and shower looked dirty or maybe it was mold, who knows. The sink & shower take an hour to drain, so once you use it, another person cannot use it for a while otherwise it will overflow. The service is mediocre if not horrible. No help with luggage, we had to take it up and down ourselves. They don’t go above and beyond, gave off lazy vibes. They’re so cheap too, if you want to use the jacuzzi you need to pay… like??? Mind you the pool was closed for the winter, you’d think they’d let you use it for free then. There’s really not much good I can say about this place. Horrible location too, you need to walk so many steps and incline to get anywhere because of all the construction. The reason I got so angry to the point where I’m even writing a review - last night I asked the front desk to call us a cab. He did. The cab tried to scam us, so I went & told the front desk to please order another. He responded “no, go walk into the street & get yourself one.” Mind you - the walk to get to the street to call a cab is a good 5-10 minutes & again MUDDY. Don’t go.

The Leonardo Plaza Hotel was an extremely elegant hotel with a grand marble lobby and well appointed rooms. The dining room and breakfast was the best I experienced in all the hotels during my Israel trip with a lavish spread of various foods.

This is my 6th time staying here and with each time the service gets worse and worse. The staff here were disgusting to me over the entire holiday week. The only way to get something from them when asked, was to get a manager involved and then watch them two yell it out in front of me. It was DISGUSTING.

The hotel is directly across the street from the Great Synagogue in Jerusalem. Super convenient for the holidays. They offer meals for all of the holiday days.Shabbat elevators. Kosher. Services in the hotel itself if you don’t want to go across the street. They provided the Yahrzeit candle that I let for my parents.

Avoid like the plague

We came as an emergency booking for our grandmothers funeral all the way from Miami. We had booked 2 rooms but one person was unable to make the trip so we only needed one room. We called and called but nobody bothered picking up the phone. When we got there we told them that and the receptionist looked at the computer and confirmed there was only one room in our reservation. We were also told that for a fee we can get a late checkout since our flight back 2 days later was at midnight. At checkout despite rooms available in virtually EVERY category on Hotels.com that night she tells us there are no rooms available to allow a late checkout and they start banging on our door at 11:05 am to throw us out waking up my grieving wife who had trouble falling asleep until 5am.
Then to top it off after checkout we see a charge for the second room! After getting the run around from Hotels and the Reception ( each telling me the other one is responsible and the hotel central not picking up the phone) we still got nowhere. This while here for a funeral.
I do not like being lied to. My family has stayed at this place before and I have made it my mission to not have any of them ever come again! If you like being lied to and aggravated this is the place for you. If you want an honest place to stay- clean and comfortable go anywhere else!

Rude, arrogant staff who treat guests like a nuisance. Rooms are filthy, ancient, and falling apart — stained carpets, broken furniture, and a smell that makes you want to leave immediately. This place is a dump charging luxury prices. Stay anywhere else in Jerusalem.

The hotel needs a total refurb. The bathrooms are ancient and the aircon sounds like a tractor in reverse and controls are not accurate. Parking is just impossible as the car park is always full. The only plus is location and breakfast was amazing. But room comfort is not even one star. And general staff service is ....they dont really care. The security guys are out to show force and always shout at you. I will not stay there again. In one word. Ugh.

Please don't use the \"war\" excuse -- we experienced two other Jerusalem hotels during our stay, both with attentive people, clean facilities -- which this hotel doesn't have. Seems like they're on austerity -- the pancake maker doesn't show, so there's no pancakes. No one to help with the luggage. Room not spic and span clean -- old hairs in the bathroom. To their credits parking was easy.

The Leonardo Plaza is a dated hotel and has been for too many years. Furniture in the bar area is dirty stained and furniture in the hotel rooms is scratched and old.
The hotel needs an upgrade in all areas. The outdoor area is also quite dirty.
Staff too need to be upgraded.
When I arrived the two guys at the reception desk were fighting. And then one proceeded to tell me (I didnt ask) what was wrong with the other one.
Really shameful.

The view is amazing, when you arrive at the hotel you are greeted by a glorious lobby, everything screams fancy until you check-in and get to the room, the room is incredibly dated and i found it to be quite dusty too. The shower head was too low, (i am only 5ft11 and had to crouch to stay under is)

The breakfast was amazing, one of the best hotel breakfasts around, it's a shame the rest of the hotel falls short as the food is really high quality. I believe based on the current condition of the hotel, they should either lower their prices or give the rooms and common areas some TLC.

Plaza should not be your first choice

The Plaza is located in a central location and advertises parking available - something not as available at Jerusalem hotels. Breakfast is fine - in my experience middle of the road for hotels 3 star and above in Jerusalem and is included. Factually - parking is very limited with a very small lot and the communication from reception to new guests is poor. This can mean as happened with me, that you find out with sparse information of details of alternative parking (not a Plaza property) late at night upon returning to a full lot. Security and front desk staff in the middle of night is not focused on customer srevice to help in the parking.

My Jerusalem Mission.

The hotel, back in the day, was the crème de la crème. However, like all running hotels, every few years there is need for a refresh. It is still a beautiful hotel but could be a little cleaner. It didn’t take away from my experience. In fact I believe some of the issues is because the shortage of staff, which can’t be blamed on anyone, due to the current situation in the Sourh of Israel. The wonderful thing about the Plaza is they catered to the displaced families for a while. That gets merit in everyone’s book. The rooms were nice and the beds comfortable. The highlight of my stay was the breakfast. And the sabbath meals. I haven’t had such good food while traveling in quite some time. Every dish was more tasty than the next and never a shortage. I highly recommend the Leonardo Plaza.

Great location, great breakfast. The room is old and run down, definitely not “five star luxury hotel” as advertised!
The negatives- the workers don’t speak English. They knock at 9.30pm to drop something off for you that was meant for an other room. You ask them for water and they don’t understand what you are saying. They knock at 7.45am to ask when you are checking out, but they don’t understand your answer.
They have a nespresso machine in the room, but only 4 pods are complimentary and this information is not disclosed anywhere. When you ask the front desk for more pods they say there’s an extra charge for the pods and for the water. Are they kidding ?!

The woman receptionist on the day shift gave attitude and failed to inform housekeeping to come clean my room… Quite disappointed with the service of the hotel.

The only redeeming quality is Mr. Yousef who is the banquet manager and has always been so friendly, helpful and accommodating.

This is my 3rd year staying at the Leonardo Plaza, Jerusalem. I love everything about it. Great location, nice, clean rooms, nice views, and friendly, helpful staff. One of the most if not the most bountiful kosher breakfast in the world. Fully outfitted gym. Nice davening and restauurantat the hotel.

Customer service is something that is missing tremendously; their service is harsh and not friendly at all. I walked to the front desk many times, and I left empty-handed. For example, I asked for a Taxi that I could pay with a credit card, I did not have cash, and the first person told me yes, I can get you one. When I came down and ask for the taxi, they said NO Taxi takes credit cards, I took Uber, and no problem. Room service does not speak English at all, is hard to place an order and get what you want.

As a struggling student in 1988 i always dreamed i could stay at the Plaza. We had a last minute drop off for my daughter. We looked up hotels and the plaza showed up. A bucket list. From the get go we arrrived at 930 pm. There is this terrible mistrust from staff to guest . As we didnt just pay $350 for less than a night. My daughter just cam to see us off. The min we got to rhe room we recived a call \" if you daufher stays that will be $150 more. I was worried so i saif yes. Making the total stay $450 america.

The rooms are terrible tiny. Mold is all over the bathroom. Peeling paint , there is a musty smell. We needed somewhere to stay till 2pm. Every hotel we stayed in during our stay gladfully said yes. The plaza claimed they wrre full booked. But if we wanted to spend another $150 we could get another 2 hours. ?

The grounds are surrounded by debris . Be ready to pay for the parking and keep your recipet! In case you want to come back. Every hotel comps for the parking.

This was a terrible disappointment i would say 2 to 3 star tops.

Sadly the breakfast was something amazing. Which no one questioned us or any guest if they were guests. Anyone could just walk in just picka room number. Again you feel like there is a mistrust or the plaza is just desperate for every shekels.

My bucket list is now complete. Id stay at a hostel before id return again

My whole experience was rubbish

I arrived at the hotel . They had a booking for two persons . They could see I was the only person travelling. I showed them my passport . They over charged me for two persons. I tried so hard to get my refund back they didn’t want to give my refund back . Then they said when I leave the hotel on my last day I will get my refund.? I didn’t get half of my refund back . I was still charged for two persons????? I will be making sure I get my refund when I return to my country my bank will get the money back that I’m owed . I would not recommend staying at this hotel to my family friends or colleagues - RUBBISH

This is NOT A FIVE STAR HOTEL and they have nerve to represent themselves as such. If you’re looking for a 2-3 star hotel in a good location this is it.
