Small B&B operation by Tracey and Ken. Breakfast was excellent. Room cleaniless and facilities were upto standard. Easy walk downhill to city centre for dining and sightseeing. Beach walk path provides ocean view and nice rock formation.

great stay lovely place and great veiws

it was our first time to cornwall.because of the long journey.
but we was very happy when we got there and saw the view over looking the sea.we stayed in room 5 very clean and nice we had tea and coffee in the room we had breakfast there which was very good nothing was any trouble to tracy the owner we hope to go back some day once again thanks for a great few days in .cornwall. staying at a great bed and breakfast ..SAWYERS was great.rehards lewis carrington

We had an amazing stay in Sawyers. Everything is beyond our expectation. Room is spacious, clean and newly renovated. Beds are really comfy. Shower is great, water is strong and easy to change temperature. Breakfast is nice and portion is huge. Location is great, we can see the sea right in front of our room. Parking is on site and free of charge. Can't complain anything.

Loved the sunrise view

Nice pleasant stay in a large ground floor room that had plenty of space and a view that overlooked the sea with its lovely sunrise. Although the view was a little obscured by cars parked directly outside, we knew that beforehand so it made no difference. Breakfast was lovely, as were the friendly hosts Ken and Tracy. Having the beach just across the road was brilliant and it provided lovely walks by the sea. It's around a 20 minute walk into East Looe with a small hill. Would definitely stay there again if going to Looe in the future.

Great location, lovely rooms, fab breakfast.

Just spent 4 nights at Sawyers, room and en suite were lovely, spacious and very clean. The location was great, a short walk into town for shopping and pubs but with the bonus of being lovely and quiet and away from the crowds. There is a small shingle and sand beach just over the road and easy access to the South West Coastal Path. Tracey and Ken were great hosts and they offer a lush cooked breakfast to set you up for the day. Parking for guests is massive bonus. Would definitely return!

Advertised as having a bar -there isn't. It used to be a pub. Website outdated/misleading. Everyone apart from one room, has to go outside to get into the building for breakfast! Sold a room with a seaview; we didn't get one. Were in a building round the corner, that had apparently been sold; Sub-letting? Curtains hanging off rails, net curtain hanging, door lock damaged and extremely difficult to lock/unlock. Carpet uneven throughout. No biscuits, bottled water, sanitary waste bags or toiletries - apart from 2 miniature soaps. No fruit or yogurt at breakfasts, supermarket eggs, for the first week, no demarcation between the whites and the yolks. Sausage had gristle in. The bathroom plumbing was a joke. The hand basin outlet was into the shower tray! Toilet seat was hanging off, and we had to ask for it to be repaired/replaced. It was replaced about 3 days later. Not much bathroom cleaning done either, certainly not every day, a couple of times the bed wasn't made. No hot water after day one, had to ask for it to be put on. Most days the 2 glasses weren't replaced. Once the dirty teacups were left. They asked for towels to be put into shower tray if we wanted clean ones. One day we got back and the dirty towel was still there. The only wall hooks in the building were 2 over the towel rail. Nowhere to hang wet coats. One wardrobe, 6 hangers for 2 people. We had 10 nights here, for £950, and they changed the bed once.

The thing that we liked most was the room having furniture in as most b&bs only have a bed and maybe 2 hard backed chairrs, here we we had an armchair and a 2 seater sofa, so felt more like an apartment, plus we had our own entrance so completely seperate to other guests.
Ken and Tracey were brilliant hosts and nothing was too much trouble.

Very friendly couple and nice clean room thou no hot water but problem was sorted out quickly. Good breakfast,but no real bar area and they don’t take cards only cash or bank transfer. Tv had free view only, a DVD player would have been good and for the price of the room ( £95 per night )we were expecting a little fridge and some toiletries in bathroom but there wasn’t either unfortunately. Good location for us but not if your senior as steep hill. Spectacular views of the coast.

We didn’t want to leave!

A fabulous b&b situated on the clifftops of a beautiful, Cornish town. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are fabulous, all with an amazing sea view. We stayed on Easter Bank Holiday when the weather was incredible. It’s about 5-10 minute walk into the centre of Looe. Do not hesitate to book here, you won’t be disappointed

Location is great! Breakfast is good. Did have a smell of damp in room like what the other reviewer did say, i should have taken notice. And that rug in the room is so filthy that i asked my daughter to ensure she wears footwear when walking about in room. Hot water doesnt stay hot for too long. Toilet floor was already dirty on our first day. Only soap is supplied-no shampoo. Beds not made everyday eventhough they have been in the room to replenish dirty towels. For the amount i paid for the room, its definitely not worth it. And its a 20minute steep walk to east looe where all the shops are and where you can get one of the best pasty and fish n chips. So guys its up to you like what i said earlier ,I should have taken notice of previous reviews. My fault!

Wonderful stay!

The hotel overlooks a stunning view of the sea and we were able to sit and have tea outside our room and look out on the pretty view. The staff are so welcoming and can't do enough for you. I found the rooms very comfortable, quaint and homely. The breakfast was lovely and was served with a smile. We were very happy with our stay and will be coming back again!

Sawyers has an ideal location. It overlooks the bay & harbor mouth. It is a good but pleasant walk to the town - shops and restaurants.

Internet was not available in all the rooms. This should be addressed.

We were shown to our room and the first thing that hit us was the smell , a musty damp smell that seemed to have had an attempt to conceal the smell with some sort of product . The room had dated decor and the door at the front had a gap of half an inch at the bottom when closed . Damp patches on the outside walls and it was cold . The owner turned on the air conditioning and said it would soon warm up , we dropped off our bags and went out for the afternoon.
On our return that evening the room was still cold and smelly but we decided it was too late to go elsewhere, a very noisy night residents using the hallway all evening and even one very noisily at 5 30 am . Also every time someone used the hot water , the tank which was hidden behind a louvre door in the room , rattled loudly for a minute or two .
The final straw came when I raised the blind in the bathroom the next morning , there was a big black mould covering half the window , it was disgusting and the owners must have seen it and hidden it under the blind hoping it wouldn't be seen .
We packed up and left when we told the lady we were leaving a day early and asked for a refund she said bluntly that it wasn't cancellation policy . There were no attempt to solve the problem or any apologies. Enough was enough and we left and found another hotel down the road .
I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone ! It's very tired and dated and there is little effort on rectifying the problems .
Go somewhere else !!

Great location. Fabulous views over the sea.

Had a great break. Weather was superb. Took a boat trip to Polperro. It was magical. Food in Archies restaurant In Looe was fantastic. All the restaurants were good and prices reasonable. I would recommend to book in advance as it's extremely busy at night to get somewhere to eat. Had a really good relaxing time.

Arrived at 8am after a 3.5 hour drive. Check in not til 2 in the afernoon but we were checked in straight away as the room was free, a great start to our holiday. Tracey and Ken were very welcoming and great fun to be around during our stay. I must mention the lovely Queenie who (amongst other things) served our breakfast every day, she is a treasure. To sum up, I would highly recommend a stay at the Sawyers and will be booking to stay there again.

Worst holiday.My planed holiday in Looe turn to he

I booked this B&B for 4 nights for my family (myself, my wife and my two kids).
I arrived about 19:00 to the B&B. The owner shows me the room and gives me the keys for the B&B.
She also left in the room a laminated paper with her mobile and land line phone in case of emergency or if we required any help.
We decide before unpacking our luggage’s go out to restaurant and then come and rest.
We lock the entrance door and try to lock the back door which opens to the main road on ground floor; the door would not lock with the key she gave us.
WE try to contact her on her mobile, land line for 4 hours and left messages to help and even went to her office next door but no joy from her.
My wife and kids all felt unsafe, tired, hungry and frustrated of the way she treated us.
Her daughter arrived before midnight we explain the situation and then she tried the key to lock the door room and she could not.
Then she went and got her mum, by that time my wife decide to not stay in that B&B even that late.
The owner apologies and she told us, she would not charge us at all.
At midnight I went and feed my family in BP garage near the B&B since everywhere were close. We could not find any places to stay since no vacancy available.
We tried anywhere in nearby and the nearest place we find was in Holiday Inn in Plymouth.
We got to Holiday Inn about 2 am and that was my first day holiday.
My card statement arrived and found out she was lied to us and charged us £90.

Lovely sea views

The hotel was in an ideal location an was an excellent place to base yourself if you want to move around different areas of Cornwall. The room was comfortable and the only down side from our perspective was us not having a front opening door to get to the front of the hotel, (as all the other rooms), but this is something that I know the owners are looking at moving forward. Breakfast although a little too early for us was delicious and the staff and owners were extremely friendly.
I would recommend to anyone and we will certainly be returning at a later date.
The only negative comment I have, and this is completely from a personal basis is the hill that leads up to the hotel...need more exercise!!

Amazing Views!

We stayed at Sawyers B&B for 3 nights Thurs-Sun. My partner and I booked it as a break for our anniversary and were very pleased!
Upon arrival (despite being half an hour early) we were checked in immediately and Ken gave us all the info we needed about the room and the surrounding area.
Room was lovely, a few little bits could've been updated but on the whole it was clean and comfortable. One down side was where we were (room 3) was too far away for the Wifi to work, which was a bit of a pain.
Breakfast was really good! Served by a very friendly and helpful lady. There was always plenty of it and were also able to help ourselves to toast, cereal and juice.
The real deal breaker with this place is the location. The views are to die for, as soon as you open your room door the sea is slap bang in front of you. Do take the opportunity to walk down to the Hannafore breakwater opposite the B&B, the views are lovely and there's a little café and ice cream shop if you walk far enough down.
The centre of Looe isn't an awfully long way to walk, however if like me you like to wear heels, I found the taxi services to be really good. They are pretty prompt and it's only £4 each way up or down to the town if you don't want to drive or walk.
All in all, I'd recommend Sawyers B&B to anyone and hopefully we will be making a return visit soon with our little girl and extended family.

My site operatives had the most pleasant stay at Sawyers B&B. The views from the hotel are breath taking. The hotel owners are lovely & made us feel very welcome. The rooms are a great size, beds are comfortable & a vast amount of facilities are available. Buffet breakfast is out of this world. We would highly recommend a stay at this hotel. Free car parking & wi-fi is a bonus, too

Wonderful room. Nice and cosy. The owners had done a good job with decoration. Breakfast is lovely and there is a nice little man cave to have a drink in and get WiFi. Looe town itself is amazing. With its qrurky little streets and fantastic shops. Best place to eat in town is the ocean and earth Thai food restaurant. Was nice to have a night on the town and go back to the hotel to relax. Can't wait to go back :-)

This place is not a tavern

That is 1 star for the location and one for the view. First and foremost, this is not a tavern, its a B&B. not a problem if i am looking for a B&B in Looe, but a big one if i am looking to stay in a pub/tavern in Looe. All those pictures of that fabulous looking homely bar?, it doesn't exist. There is the owners \"cave\", which is the garden shed out front that you can see on teh photo, where he goes if he fancies it, but we came and went 4 times and he was not in there. As B&B's go, the rooms are not that bad, apart of course from the toilet breaking each night!!. But if you are looking for a stay in a homely inn, this is not for you. Oh!, and i could not get the wifi in my room, but if i sat on a park bench over the road in the public park, 60+ feet away, i could pick up wifi
