This is a lovely hotel right in the heart of Fowey. We have stayed here a few times now and each time has been thoroughly enjoyable. The staff are friendly and keen to do what they can for you, the rooms are great (ours had double aspect windows over the river, which was delightful), and the food is really good too (we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner in their restaurant). Ideally placed to explore Fowey and all its shops, cafes and restaurants. We would happily visit again.

We had a lovely stay to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. Marco the Manager was extremely welcoming , even putting our bags in our lovely room. The room and hotel are immaculate and very luxurious. The Sunday dinner was wonderful as was the breakfast. Very high quality ingredients. The staff were very attentive. A very relaxing stay. We will be back.

A fantastic stay in beautiful Fowey

What a fantastic stay we had as two couples celebrating my birthday. How lucky was I to receive a complimentary room upgrade which was a great surprise.
The room had a side view overlooking the water, a comfortable king bed and spacious bathroom.
Breakfast was plentiful with so many cooked options.
The hotel was central in Fowey, so everything was easily walkable. Sitting on the terrace with a drink on the water was a really calming area.
Can’t recommend this fantastic find enough

Staff at breakfast were poor, a little discourteous and unwelcoming. Standard coffee was weak but if you ask for a speciality coffee (not advertised) then much better. Stair carpet needs replacing.

Good staff and comfortable bed. On busy street at night with loud people partying that kept us up. No ventilation in room except one window that was so heavy it was difficult to open or shut. Food was excellent and service in the restaurant very good. The overall ambience was very pleasant. Our room was disappointing. It was small with no seat other than the bed. Wardrobe and drawer provision were inadequate even for a 2 night stay. The lack of parking is a serious problem with a 800 yard walk to pick up the car unacceptable to many of your guests, but it's a problem that won't go away.

Lovely weekend getaway

A lovely one night stay in this boutique hotel in the centre of Fowey. All staff were really friendly, welcoming and hospitable. The hotel had a lovely feel, was clean and comfortable with lovely touches in the rooms to welcome guests and wonderful smelling essential oil toiletries A lovely wide choice of breakfast options too, set in the dining room overlooking the water. Lovely hotel on the side of the estuary, rooms great and food excellent. Staff very friendly and professional. Parking a bit of a hassle but that’s the same everywhere in Fowey. Our room to the front was a bit noisy at closing time but then quiet. Would recommend.

Parking is a big issue. The lot for cars was perhaps a mile away. They need a staff member to park the cars for their guests.
Also, there is no lift and the stairs are steep. It would be very helpful for a member of staff to carry suitcases to the rooms.
Other than that we found the hotel convenient to shops and restaurants. The breakfasts were good and the staff friendly.

Great location, lovely hotel. Unfortunately one of the blinds in our room was broken and could not be pulled up, reception informed us of this when we checked in. Room was also very very warm, the fan provided did not solve the issue. All the staff were very friendly and professional. Quite pricey for what was provided but as it is in the centre of Fowey you are paying for the location. The breakfast was absolutely superb, best I've had in a very long time home or abroad.

The overall situation right in the middle of Fowey was definitely a draw. The common areas were modern and attractive and the terrace overlooking the harbour was perhaps the most attractive feature. What I didn't like was the small size of the rooms and the exorbitant price relative to the overall experience.

Difficult to find and need to enter address rather than postcode into satnav. Reception closes at 6pm and breakfast doesn’t start until 8:30, so we missed both of these as we were there on business. Expensive limited table d’hote menu for the evening.
Parking is half a mile away, not a pleasant walk with luggage when raining!

Right in the middle of Fowey so no need for a car. Parking is quite a way away, so you will need to drop off bags and then park. The room we had was very comfortable with views across the Fowey river. Restaurant was very good. Breakfast was excellent.

Stunning location in a wonderful little cornish village. Never been to Fowey before but will certainly come again. Room a little on the small side given it was £356 for a night but the service was excellent as was the food and wine. You really can't go too far wrong.

The hotel is in an amazing location, very central to all local amenities. The staff are all friendly and very welcoming with lots of measures being taken throughout the hotel in line with COVID to make the stay feel comfortable and safe.
The use of parking, especially in a busy town, was very helpful and not too far a walk from the hotel itself.

Dinner was really outstanding, fine fine cuisine. The position of the hotel right on the water is simply outstanding, the only downer is you have to park your car half a mile away but nobody uses a car in Fowey.

Great location in Fowey

A lovely welcome and a nice room with a side view of the river from a small balcony. We found it a little too hot at night even with the window open. All of the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Being Fowey there is no parking but you can drop your luggage off first which is just as well as the car park is a fair walk away - 8 - 10 minutes or so. Not a problem for us but as well to be aware. We had dinner in the hotel on our first night. Lovely dining room overlooking the river, good service, nice menu but we found the food too salty for our taste. Breakfast was very good.

Top Quality Boutique Hotel

We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Quay House hotel. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room we had was on the front of the building over the high street. The room had been newly redecorated and had perfect storage, with a very comfortable bed. Whilst not overly large, it had a good sized en-suite bathroom with rain shower. Breakfast was excellent with a good range of cooked choices, made to order. The small bar and sitting room felt like a interior designer showroom as it was very tastefully designed and finished. In summer the outside patio off the dining room would be stunning as it has probably the best waterfront location in Fowey. Highly recommended.

Overpriced lodging. Overall, management creates a parsimonious atmosphere that borders on miserly. At 400 dollars a night, one does not expect to be begrudged a coffee refill at breakfast. The rooms are uncomfortably warm in summer. The “penthouse”—a mere attic room—has a mattress on the floor, a toilet with a water pressure so weak that it takes 15 minutes of repeat flushing each time you visit the bathroom, and a lack of ventilation and pressure in the shower. Very good restaurant, though thrifty with sauces, butter, and milk. Seagulls will disturb your sleep all night if you open the windows, which the hotel can’t help; this is why the lack of A/C seems so objectionable.

Front seat on Fowley Bay

You have to be tough to reach this hotel by car and not scratch it of hit some dogs or their owners, and the parking is far from the hotel. But Fowley is a small town, built long before the tourist era, and the effort is well worth it. It is right in the middle of this charming town, our Superior Double Room was clean, nicely decorated, with a view over the magical bay, comfortable bed, nice bathroom, good range of extras (included milk in a communal fridge). The service was friendly and professional, the breakfast and the dinners were excellent, and the views from the restaurant and the terrace very romantic.

I came to Fowey with friends on our first visit to Cornwall and our stay at the Old Quay set the tone for an amazing trip. The hotel is small and picturesque while also being decorated in a tasteful, contemporary way.

Our rooms were bright with very comfortable beds and high quality linens. The bathrooms were well appointed with large tubs. We had small balconies with beautiful views of the harbor.

We enjoyed the very nice but casual hotel restaurant for dinner. The included breakfast also had a great selection.

The front desk staff were welcoming and friendly. They also booked taxis for us to The Eden Project and the train station (closest: Par) and were helpful with any other needs.

The location is as central in Fowey as you can get right in the heart of town off the Main Street and on the water.

As far as downsides go: There is no air conditioning. In a heat wave you may have difficulties. And the seagulls of Fowey are plentiful and very vocal.

Due to late booking we could only get a 'classic double' room but this was more than adequate. Tastefully decorated and well furnished including a king size bed. Also a modern ensuite.
Parking is free but carpark is approx. 800 yards away. Nobody seems to worry though when you stop to unload in the narrow street outside.
Staff, particularly in reception are exceptional. Welcoming, friendly and helpful.
If you want to eat in the restaurant make sure you reserve a table as early as you can. We didn't for our second night and had to 'eat out' Staff did though suggest a great alternative a couple of doors away.

The hotel is fantastic, staff are super friendly, breakfast is excellent so is the dinner. Great location and incredibly high level of service all round. Only problem was that the windows and balcony doors in room 12 need replacing and the noise from the draft is incredible all day and all night.. replace these and it really is a 10/10

Booked for a long weekend based on the reviews. As it was a celebration we booked probably the best room – number 6 on the first floor with bay windows directly over the water. Charming, spacious and well-appointed, it was everything we hoped for with an enormous double bed.
The staff were always cheerful and friendly – both on reception where they helped unload our cases as we hovered in the car in the exceptionally narrow (one-way) street outside – and also in the restaurant. The South African manager had taken over on the day before we left. He made a point of greeting all the guests personally and bodes well for the future of the hotel.
The evening meal which we only had on the first night seemed over-priced (£90+ for 2 people with a little wine) for what it was. As a result we eat out for other dinners. Breakfast was from a reasonably well stocked buffet with a range of cooked items to order.
A couple of minor points: the power sockets were underneath the small table which made it awkward to plug in a laptop / iPad etc. Pelmets along the curtains would help cut out additional daylight.
Be aware that, if coming by car, Fowey’s streets are not just narrow - they are exceptionally narrow and one-way. You can hover outside the hotel to load/unload, but the car park (free to hotel guests) is a good 10 minutes walk away.
