This was our second visit. That should tell you something. We again liked the inn with good variety of of breakfast options, room was spacious, plenty of free parking. It was convenient for the attractions we wanted to visit. Dinner, optional extra, is available and very good quality.
We would like to visit again.

Small but excellent!!

I had a small but very comfortable room at the Waterwheel. The bed was roomy for a single person and the shower was excellent. Staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful and the meals were good. This is a well run hotel and very good value for money.

The service provided by the staff was excellent and they were very friendly and accommodating. However, the room was very small and the front of the hotel was not very inviting in my opinion as there was rubbish like vacuum cleaner tools thrown across the parking area and overgrown vegetation. The place needs some attention to attract a wide range of customers.

They are unable to serve a meal which is all hot. The breakfast is stated to be freshly cooked. This is obviously not the case as half the breakfast is luke warm or cold. Other patrons agreed with this. I had two evening meals, one was hot but the vegetables on the other were cold. My complaint to the waitress was ignored. Anyone who stays here should be prepared for intrusive music being played during breakfast.

We enjoyed the amazing grounds and the food in the restaurant was lovely.
The room was spacious and clean but the only thing that let it down was the bed.
The memory foam matress had a big dip in it and was very uncomfortable. My husband didnt get a good night sleep as he couldnt get comfortable.
The staff were informed the next morning and aaid they would deal with it.

Our stay at The Waterwheel was relaxing, in a beautiful garden setting. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the area. The food was oustanding for breafast and evening meal. Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

We last stayed at the Waterwheel in April 2016 and were very impressed with the ambiance and quality of the property, cuisine and customer service. Our recent visit confirmed our previous experience and there has been a big expansion of the rooms but retaining the intimate nature of the Inn. Fantastic one night stay.

You will not find a better hotel in this area to choose.
Each room, corridor, restaurant and conservatory which is often used for breakfast was immaculate. We had a full english breakfast and cereal which was enough food to last all day. Delicious. The gardens were beautiful. Plenty of free parking space and the owner and her staff were very friendly.

Excellent stay over 4 nights. Breakfast was excellent, we didn't eat in the evenings at the hotel so cannot comment on evening meals, although over guests eat there and the restaurant was very busy, so it seems to be very popular.
Room was rather small but adequate, and was very clean.
The hotel's location was ideal for visiting the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan, which were both about a 20 minute drive away.

So friendly and welcoming

The staff are so welcoming and friendly. We got there early in the pouring rain and they let us in rather than make us wait. The food was delicious with huge portions. Our dog was made welcome and had plenty of fuss and the hotels dog Kernow was beautiful too. Our room was a little small but that is what we had booked so was down to us. Yes we would definately return, it was central to loads of things to do and beaches and the other guests staying there were chatty and friendly. Lovely stay.....thank you.

Best Place to Stay in Cornwall

We had our annual two week holiday here and we really couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay. Cornwall is a lush green county and this was the rose in the crown. The staff treated us like family, nothing was too much trouble. Everything was clean and fresh, refreshed daily. The food was excellent with generous helpings. And the gardens, well you didn’t need to spend money and go to The Lost Gardens of Heligen these have been lovingly restored by the owners over the last 17 years and you can see they are their passion.

The best B&B in Cornwall

So if you’re reading this review you’re probably considering staying at the Waterwheel. My advice … stop reading this review and just book it now. If you want to read more though, read on.

The Waterwheel is probably my favourite B&B I have ever stayed in. It’s Gorgeous inside, the staff are wonderfully friendly and attentive, and the garden is a tranquil and relaxing haven. I was somewhat sceptical that it would be with a busy (by Cornwall standards) road next to the Inn but it never bothered me or my fiancé once. The rooms are spotless clean, the showers are powerful and refreshing and the breakfast is wonderful. It’s location is a great point to explore Cornwall from and I highly recommend this accommodation to anyone who. A massive thank you to the Waterwheel team for their hospitality over the last three nights, especially Donna, who really made us feel at home.

Owners and staff couldnt do enough. The breakfast and meals in the restaurant were above and beyond the normal expected. I would recommend this property to everyone. We booked a twin room and it was downstairs. If you have reduced mobility .There are steps down to the reception but if you ask there is an alternate entrance.

A sociable hotel which is dog friendly

Fantastic stay. The hotel is well maintained with friendly staff and amazing food. It is the ideal location to visit multiple places in Cornwall. I am not a dog lover but the hotel had a resident dog and a few visiting dogs all well behaved. The dogs added to the environment and really got people talking. I would highly recommend it.

We really enjoyed our stay, the location was very convenient for Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient, we didn't eat in the restaurant but the cooked breakfasts were ample and delicious. The hotel's garden is quite beautiful, with lush plants and in June there was also a bank of wild foxgloves. The only drawback for us was It was on a busy road into St Austell and the traffic was quite noisy at times (we always take earplugs), plus could hear music in the mornings, at first thought it was noisy neighbours then realised it was coming up through the floor from the kitchen/bar area below!
