I will start by saying that the hotel is absolutely beautiful, some of the nicest interior décor that I have seen in a hotel and the views are stunning. The room was one of the nicest I have stayed in. It was spotlessly clean and the bathroom/bath was very appreciated. The food in the restaurant was disappointing, I had the steak and honestly, I have cooked better myself at home. Breakfast was good, although some items missing due to a missed delivery, but what we did have was delicious. The spa was nice and great that it was free but I wouldn't go back for a spa day. The pool was lovely and warm, the jacuzzi wasn't hot - the outside sauna was amazing!! And the view from the spa was beautiful. Bear in mind that it is a family hotel, so lots of loud playing children, which is lovely for families, not so good if you're a couple. The staff were very good and extremely helpful, when you saw them. Afternoon tea was delicious, I'm really surprised to have read negative reviews about that before my stay because it was lovely. I would go back, but not for dinner and not just for the spa. If you have small children, it is a perfect base for a Cornish holiday.

Breakfast options were delicious and both adults and children enjoyed the menu options.
Room was spacious and the ‘zed’ beds were fine for children. Our dog had a nice bed and treat pack upon arrival.

Our children - 8,6& 2 loved their stay here.
We swam every day, attempted crabbing, played in the playground and attended all of the activities put on by the den staff. Kids loved mocktail & jewellery making and they put on a great Easter egg hunt for the kids too.
They also attended the den sessions and were happy each time. The rabbit feeding was also really lovely.
Only complaint really is the restaurant. Breakfast is good but dinner/lunch has the same menu and if you’re staying for 3 nights it’s quite limited and honestly not the best. The fish and chips were good but the gnocchi and salads were very blah. We went out for dinner one evening as we couldn’t face the same average food. Maybe change up the menu every other night to encourage ppl to eat there more as everything is in the hotel and the kids just love running around. Also, have some outsiders try the food and give honest opinions… for a luxury hotel you’d expect better food.
Other than that, it’s perfect and we would come back in a heartbeat, just probably would avoid eating dinner there unless it changes.

Highly recommended! This hotel is well suited to parents with children of all ages!

Our two year old enjoyed playing with all of the toys in the Four Bears Den as well as the games room. The 5pm story time with cookies and milk and the cinema room was always a nice way to end the day. The hotel also has a great indoor pool though it is slightly on the cold side compared to a normal kid's pool, but I don't think it is worth being overly concerned about this.

The staff and service is excellent! We made use of the warm milk delivery to our room each night and every member of staff was warm and welcoming and I want to give a special shout-out to Diane who took care of us during breakfast.

My family and I would happily stay at Fowey Hall hotel again!

Wonderful stay at Fowey Hall

We had a lovely 2-night stay here with our two children. The hotel is certainly family-friendly, with many little gestures for young ones, such as daily storytime with milk and a biscuit and indoor and outdoor activities. The Four Bears Den is an amazing nursery space filled with happiness that is not possible without the wonderful people who work there. It is also great for adults, with comfortable communal areas, good sized rooms, spa and a great breakfast. We will almost definitely be back!

Our family trip to Cornwall was made absolutely perfect by our stay at this hotel! From the moment we walked in, the staff's warm welcome made us feel right at home. The room they provided was not only spacious and beautifully decorated but also impeccably clean, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for our family.

The kids loved the pool, and we appreciated the fitness center for some relaxation time. The on-site restaurant offered a wide range of delicious meals that even our picky eaters enjoyed. Plus, the hotel's central location made it easy to explore all the wonderful attractions Cornwall has to offer.

I can't praise this hotel enough for its exceptional service, family-friendly amenities, and prime location. It truly made our family trip memorable, and we highly recommend it to anyone planning to visit Cornwall.

We had to change rooms due to a very loud bathroom extractor fan being on 24x7. The staff were excellent in resolving and moved us to a nice suite, however it was a disruption having to move, we did prefer the original room (except for the fan noise), and it isn’t very environmentally friendly having a fan that is constantly on.. otherwise it’s a really nice hotel, all of the staff are very friendly, great location, very very nice

A hotel to enjoy in the beautiful Fowey

This place is incredible. The staff were amazing. Our kids, who are sometimes quite shy around strangers, instantly clicked with the friendly staff at reception and loved chatting to them each day. The hotel strikes the perfect balance between luxury for the parents and fun for the kids. We used the pool which had great changing facilities, a great view and was very quiet. The bedroom was the nicest room we have ever stayed in, with a sea view and beautiful decor. We were greeted each morning by Diane at breakfast who was lovely and really interacted with the kids. She also gave us some tips of where to go each day. The breakfast was Both delicious and plentiful. Both evenings were spent at the hotel restaurant, we intended on going into town, but the food the first night was so good that we didn't bother in the end. The kids loved the play area and we loved drinks in the sun on the patio watching the boats. We will definitely be coming back.

This hotel is amazing and I have stayed there 3 times now, I just never would have booked if I knew about the extensive building work. I see some reviewers have said this work did not affect their stay, it did ours as we were living in hotel room in court yard so had to walk past diggers and workmen all the time. It is noisy and busy with no spa facilities due to the work. Although I love the hotel, Expedia did not mention the building work which I think is unfair. Bet the hotel will be amazing when the work is done.

Lovely hotel and friendly staff. Welcoming for our dog, doggie bed, bowls, treats all provided as a nice surprise, doggie menu in restaurant:)
Highlight foodwise was the breakfast - amazing. We had dinner also, although dogs not allowed in main dining area so eat in bar or outside.
Hopefully a very temporary issue is building works; spa and pool closed, tile cutting and clouds of dust even on a Sunday, unsightly building site. Once this is finished hotel will be amazing. To be fair to the hotel the staff did inform us before our stay, but perhaps not to the full extent. Hotels.com had no information about this.

Beautiful property even though during major renovations did not affect the inside. Room was enormous, fantastic shower. Staff were very helpful. I would come back and stay again.
The only downside was the evening meal, very tiny for the price which I raised with the Restaurant Manager at breakfast.

This is a beautiful country house experience with all the elegance and style attached but with the convenience of modern facilities. The veiw and location is outstanding and the staff provide excellent non-pretentious professional service. The bed we had (Violet Room) was very comfortable and both the room and bathroom were very large with the bonus of both a large bath and shower. Couple of small negatives: the bathroom lighting was very dim and the room WiFi was patchy. The breakfasts (which are complimentary) are excellent. Try the waffles. The Restaurant has a lovely atmosphere but possibly a bit pricey for what is served? Certainly deserves one night eating in.

We loved the property, large rooms, lovely breakfasts and we enjoyed the pool. Staff are friendly and pleasing. We would recommend to others and would return. Just a couple little things that may need looking into, the receptionist took us to our room and said that everything we needed to know was in the guest information book which is fine, but breakfast needs to be explained other then the times. The other thing is, perhaps butter already placed on the tables for breakfast would be helpful. Thank you for our stay and (sorry, didn't catch his name) the chap overseeing guests for breakfast was friendly and nothing was a problem for him. Thank you for great service.

Shabby & Disappointing

We were really disappointed this this hotel. Yes the location was lovely but the actual accommodation was just shabby! We allegedly had a 'deluxe' room which was anything but - the room was very tired, drab and wasn't the cleanest.
We had been put in the Coach building when we expected to be in the main house - this is the place they recommend for young families or people with dogs - we had neither!
We were celebrating our daughter's 10th birthday and mentioned this but the staff did nothing to mark the occasion, didn't even wish her a happy birthday.
We will definitely NOT be returning to this place and will be booking a different hotel for our annual trip to Fowey.

Great location - fantastic views over the estuary.
Lovely local walks. Also the ferry to Polruan for the coastal path walk was brilliant.
All of the staff were very friendly and keen to make sure we had a lovely stay at this fabulous hotel.
I enjoyed the swimming pool and jacuzzi but did not try out the Spa - maybe next time!

Welcoming helpful polite staff in every area. Loved that it was properly family friendly but still catered for couples. Nothing too much trouble. Diane was a delight. Loved the bottle washing service and puréed baby food when requested. Food was lovely although fairly expensive.
The problem with my room booking was quickly rectified by Emily plus a complementary afternoon tea. Excellent customer service. We shall be back.

3 star at the price of a 5 star with poor service

The hotel is an ideal location and nice view on the harbour. The building and grounds are lovely. The place however need some tlc. The rooms are spacious. They cater for families with kids. However,The beds are lumpy and uncomfortable. The bathroom need renovating. Groups and mould .
Some of the staff are friendly but it can be hit and miss. Breakfast service is slow and the buffet does not get refilled regularly. The waffles are tasty. The portion size varies. For 3 days we got 2 dippy eggs and two waffles as a portion , and on the last day only one waffle in a portion with only small dollop of creme fresh and berries!
The beddings did not get changed for 4 nights that we stayed .
We book this hotel as a last minute but we definitely not be going back. It’s is over priced and poor service and standard.

Sweet historical Fowey

It was amazing! A lovely little town with lots of little nooks and crannies; pubs, gift shops, etc. The hotel has a wonderful restaurant with an amazing wine selection. The fish and chips was the best we’ve had since we arrived in Great Britain a week ago. Our room was very large with relaxing chairs to watch the weather change over the water. The recently updated bathroom had an oversized tub with all the whistles and bells, a stand alone shower with Rainshower faucet and towel heater. What more could you ask for? Also, very kid oriented with toys and books and daily activities. Breakfast even has non breakable dinnerware!

An interesting old building in a good position. We were allocated a spacious room with a view of the sea. The bathroom was rather tired. The bed had a lumpy uncomfortable matress, pillows that deflated to nothing at the touch of your head and a duvet that would not reach both sides at the same time. The restaurant had a limited menu and was overpriced, 5*+ prices in a 3* establishment (fish and chips at £22.50). All the staff we met were pleasant, friendly and helpful.

Lovely last minute one night trip. Fab service. Fabulous setting. Fabulous building. We have a basic room without view but still interesting features. Good & varied breakfast (except bacon which was almost steamed not grilled). Very helpful staff &
Good value for money. Lots of children so obviously quite family friendly. Not to be mean but glad the families where seated in the larger area & couples were seated to the quieter bit - we were away from our kids for the night so wanted some peace (difficult during busy Sunday breakfast time)

Great hotel in beautiful period building

Beautiful hotel in fantastic location with easy parking - a real bonus in Fowey. Friendly staff, clean rooms, excellent bathroom with amazing shower. Breakfasts were really good in a lovely, period dining room. The furniture in the room looked in keeping with the hotel but was extremely rickety - could do with work on hinges and catches! Overall a great hotel.

Wonderful hotel, wonderful view

We were upgraded upon arrival to an incredibly spacious apartment with two bedrooms and tons of space! Breakfast in the dining room was one of the best I have ever enjoyed in a hotel. The pool was nice too.

Would definitely recommend.
