Property is in desperate need of a renovation. The bathroom appears to be about 50 years old. The room had an overwhelming fragrance that smelled like baby powder that made me think they were trying to cover an unpleasant odor. There were food crumbs beside the bed, so the room clearly hadn't been vacuumed.
The staff we encountered were friendly and that was the only redeeming quality.

The staff were lovely and the stay was overall good. The property is just a little run down and out dated. If that doesn’t bother you at all then it is a fine stay. We were only staying for the night before catching a flight so it served it’s purpose for us. Close to the airport.

The hotel is located 25 minutes drive from Zagreb city centre and 10 minutes from the airport, in an urban residential area. It appears to have once been a glamorous venue, offering a relaxing spa along with other four star facilities. All of the staff we came across were really friendly and doing a great job in what seemed to be difficult circumstances. Unfortunately, plans to regenerate the local area, which would have really helped this hotel, have been put on hold due to inevitable economic struggles in recent years.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Phoenix. The first was several years ago and renovation was taking place (which was a disappointment at that time). We wanted to give a second chance -- that was a mistake. After a fast and quick check-in, we were gone through the evening to a wedding and returned late - after midnight. After a day of 30C in Zagreb, our air conditioning did not really work -- and then would shut down on its own after 45 minutes. Getting assistance from the desk did not solve anything. I had to turn the air back on 4 times during the night -- it would just keep shutting off. Also, I use a breathing machine every night -- the power outlet next to the bed turns off when you turn the light off! I had to use an extension cord to get power. The Internet is very slow. After complaining about the air conditioning the next morning, the desk person only offered that she would inform the manager. The lights for the night entrance are turned on with a motion sensor with a long delay -- it would be easy to trip on the steps. The timing should be changed.

Upkeep and maintenance need serious attention. The flush button on the toilet needed replaced and was hard to use. The lamp over the desk looked like it could come off the wall. All of the right pieces are there, but it is impossible to assemble a good picture of the puzzle.

There are many nice features -- great artwork in many places, bright dining for breakfast with a good selection.

Did not get a friendly reception & fell down twice in Wellness centre due to the fact that we were not
Allowed our sandals & the ones offered to guests were way too small. Needless to say thst Bare feet on wet ceramic tiles is very dangerous, slipped in shower & when exiting slipped again in hallway.

Cosy and enjoyable hotel

Room was fantastic and large. Hotel also falls under the same catagory. However there are not 2 pools and a hot tub, there are 2 hot tubs. One of which is on its own, the other is half hot tub, half current pool.but it was still relaxing. The ate at the restaurant, there was extremely slow service. We was in there for roughly an hour and 20 minutes, and only had 2 courses, considering we were the only ones in there, it was a little frustrating. There was a vast selection for breakfast, including fresh omelette. Very enjoyable and would recommend

Charges for things they say are included!

Was very disappointed with they stay here! Upon check was told our reservation included when checking out they then charged us for this! When questioned she told us that the charge for breakfast had been discounted from €10 to €6 each, why even discount this if there was no reason to in the first place! There is also loads of hidden fees such as insurance and registration and local tax! Local tax I am fine with as we had to do this in one other but the others is ludicrous as I've never come across this before! What should have been €64 ended up €91 would recommend people stay away unless they are happy to pay more then first thought! Would not use this hotel again as obscure the truth!

Worth a stay

The layout of the room is unusual but looks quirky. The bed was very comfy and the staff were friendly. The train station to Zagreb is a 20 minute easy walk away.

A little unexpected jewel

We were concerned when we saw how far out of town the hotel was, but when we got there the rooms were first rate and the staff were helpful and friendly (if a bit difficult to track down at times). The gym and spa services looked amazing, though we didn't get to use them. We'd gladly stay there again.

There were ants in our room. The shower was draining very slow, almost clogged when we got there, we call the hotel reception 3 times and still no fix. The room is not clean, carpet smells.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very welcoming, the room was clean and quiet and the food in the restaurant for dinner was tasty with friendly service. It was also handy for us being 15mins from the airport.

Hotel was looking good but we were given a small attic room which was nothing like the photos for the room type that we booked. It was still good but this ruined the otherwise good first impression. The hotel is still being built and it is partially a construction site.

A bit out of the way, but that was fine with us. The hotel staff was above and beyond helpful and friendly. But the rooms were a little lacking. The duvet cover was dirty/stained. And the shower drain was very very slow.
But the staff were soooo nice. So that really made an impact. And their breakfast buffet was VERY good. With an omelet bar, which is always awesome :)

A Sweet Retreat and Spa

The Hotel Phoenix has big plans for an entire area in Zagreb..and they are on their way to making it happen. We found the hotel easily and enjoyed the room, the staff and the spa (which is included free). The spa has an endless pool for swimming, a massaging Jacuzzi, and a sauna. There is a fee for the Tanning bed.

The breakfast was a \"cook-to-order\" meal and was fabulous. The staff could not have ben better and more kind. We also chose to eat dinner at the hotel the day of our arrival and were served so well by the waiter and the food was wonderful.

Nice enough hotel but not close to anything.

Spent 4 nights in Hotel Phoenix in the \"Deluxe Romantic Room\". The hotel wasn't quite as advertised - our bath was broken and the welcome display was not as pictured. The swimming pool isn't a swimming pool either, it's a hot tub. The hotel was still nice enough however.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the food was good, so no complaints there at all.

The biggest problem with the hotel is that it's 10KM away from the city of Zagreb and there is nothing in close proximity to it. We'd have been as well just paying more for a central hotel once we included the amount of money that we had paid for taxis every day.

If you're on a business trip and just need a comfortable bed at the end of the day then this hotel is fine - the beds are very nice. If you're a tourist looking to see Zagreb I'd advise you to splash out on a city center hotel.

Half term break

Good stay in Zagreb. Hotel is about half and hour taxi ride from centre of town - you need to take the tram and a bus for an alternative. This hotel is well kept, the staff are very friendly and helpful and it has a good gym and Wellness Centre. The only issue we had was that our room wasn't cleaned that thoroughly; the beds were remade and new towels were provided but the sink, toilet and surfaces didn't paper to have been. Not a problem but would have expected this for a 4 star hotel. This didn't detract from our stay.

Do not trust what they tell you

Paid for a romantic room at the higher rate. The hot tub was not working the night we checked in. They promised they will fixed it the next day. They didn't. The tub was not working. Hotel staff wouldn't refund any money and charge us just for the regular room. Refused to give us any documentation, at least a proof that they even bothered to call a hot tub service man.

Brilliant Hotel

The hotel was brilliant - it doesn't look good from the main road, and the car park and entrance is up a narrow entrance, however the hotel itself inside was lovely. The room was large, with a really good shower, and comfortable beds. The food and wine in the restaurant was excellent!

Sleepless in Zagreb

The hotel hosted a wedding reception during our 1 night stay and put us on the 1st floor. The music was unbelievably loud (even ear plugs did not help) and lasted until 5am in the morning. The hotel staff was not helpful at all. They gave us bad information about where to eat (they had to shout to be heard above the wedding reception noise), didn't answer the phone when we called at 2am to ask them to address the noise issue, and refused to ask the band to turn down the volume when we went downstairs to talk to them. The hotel itself was clean and nice but worthless since it was impossible to sleep.

Easy to find, but is very easy to miss the turn for parking. The turn is a small alley just East of the hotel. There is a sign, but if you're coming from the east it is easy to miss. The hotel looks bad from the outside (lots of construction and remodeling), but inside the hotel is VERY nice.

Nice Hotel for a short stay

The hotel was nice and modern with great facilities. Its far from the center if you plan to site see in zagreb and a short drive to the airport. There didn't seem to be much around the hotel but we arrived at night. The hotel staff were great and since we had to leave before breakfast started they made us little breakfast packages to go, that was really nice. Overall a great value!

Great Hotel

This is an excellent hotel for the price. My only comment is the neighborhood. There is nothing really walkable near, but it is close to the highway. I booked this hotel because I thought it was near the airport, but I misunderstood and it was about 30 mintues away by car. However, the staff was amazing and EXTREMELY accomidating. I had two twin 7 mos old babies and they provided two cribs at no charge. Also, the rooms are very spacious and clean.

I enjoyed my stay at the Phoenix Hotel very much - rooms were very clean, tastefully decorated and well equipped. The hotel was easy to navigate through, food was very tasty and reasonably priced. It is a bit far from the city centre, but it only takes about 15-20 minutes by car to get there, so not a big deal. But the best thing about this hotel is its staff, they offered one of the best customer service experiences I have ever received. Everyone was extremely polite and friendly, always there to help, but not \"in your face\". I cannot praise them enough!

Great hotel for the family to stay

Great modern Hotel if you don'tmindto be 15 min from the town center. Free parking compliments to the location. Food is on the expencive side. Better eat out. Serving staff is young and not always best trained but all problems are solved immediately when the supervisor gets involved.
I would recommend the hotel spa - nice little pool with a jacuzzi for the relaxing after a day working.

The Hotel Phoenix has an awesome staff that is very helpful in anything that you may need. Stefano had some great recommendations for Croatia. The hotel itself is in the suburbs of Zagreb about 15 minutes from the center. Overall it was just what I needed for my two days in Zagreb.

A Place to Rest -

It is off city center by around 20 minutes drive. But, if you are looking for great value of money, then it is a great place. Very relaxing rooms, and great breakfast with eggs of your choice ! Has a nice SPA with lit swirl pool (romantic at night). They also offer massages. I had an unforgettable one hour massage for 37 euros ! Free Parking on site and staff very friendly.

Beautiful and Classy

When I first pulled into the parking lot of the Hotel Phoenix, I was a little disappointed by the parking situation. It was a bit inconvenient to park by the street, then wheel my luggage up to the main entrance. Would be nice if you could pull up to the front door to check in. But once inside, I was blown away by the beauty and classiness of the hotel: vibrant colors, jazzy background music playing 24/7, very friendly staff who speak English fluently. The restaurant was gorgeous too. I stayed in the \"classic\" room, which had lavender purple wall color, purple accessories, the deepest bathtub I've ever seen (so relaxing), and a bed that felt like sleeping on clouds.

Very nice hotel, just a little distant...

The hotel is impeccable, the staff is excellent, but the hotel itself is quite far from the city. They have an agreement with the local cab company that allows for cheaper taxi rates to the city center, but the savings are not that great. Great choice for a couple of days, or for a romantic getaway, but for a week-long stay visiting the city, the costs might be prohibitive.

Amazing service, great quality people.

My family and I were very pleased to stay here, that on our way back from Austria and Hungary to Zagreb, we wanted to stay in the same hotel again. My first impression as a regular European and Middle Eastern traveler was this: The price for what you get is in a scale to ten, it is 10! The service, the customer service, the attention to detail from the ladies that clean the rooms, the waitresses and waiters, to the receptionists, just kept a smile on our faces. We didn't use the Spa or other amenities, because we were on a fast paced trip, but we did see them and toured the hotel, clean, neat, everything is new and they sure make you feel valued. For a 4 star hotel, this particular hotel deserves all. The only two things that are a little less positive, but nothing to be scared of are this: Inside the rooms on the third floor, the ceiling that is on an angle to give room to the windows completely European style, are a little too close to the beds, so you have to lower your head if you don't want a little bump, and the other one is location, it is a few kilometers away from Zagreb's downtown, which makes it perfectly quiet at night, but you have to drive maybe 10 minutes to get something to eat at night, late night.

Good value for money

The hotel was further away from the city centre than I imagined, but is within a 15 minute walk of the Sesvete train station. Trains run at least hourly for most of the day and only take 15 minutes to Zagreb Main.

If you are happy to travel by train to the centre each day then this hotel provides very good value for money.

Things seemed not to work here: the door to the hotel from the parking lot was locked when we arrived; the wi-fi did not work; the room was unbearably hot; the coffee machine for breakfast was broken; and the staff seemed relatively unconcerned. The reception \"desk\" was two folding tables set up in the lobby. On the positive side, there was some kind of spa/whirlpool that we did not try; breakfast was good and there was lots of parking (though not well shovelled). The hotel is easy to reach from the highway, but at least a 20min drive from Zagreb center.

Great hotel and helpful staff, very clean and comfortable room with great range of breakfast items (eggs/omlettes cooked to order). We got free drinks vouchers on arrival, free liquers at dinner, gifts on leaving the hotel and discount for taxi transfer to the airport. The only down side is it is quite far out of center (bus and tram about 45-60 mins from center) so better if your staying a week.

This hotel is fantastic but it's more than 30km's away from the city center. The rooms are very clean and spacious and the staff make you very welcome. You can catch the bus and tram to the city but that will take you a minimum of 45mins...
Expedia need to be aware this hotel is not in the city center, false advertising on their behalf.

The above line is a quote from the hotel itself in the advertisment. Don`t pay any attention to it, this hotel is nowhere near the city centre. Thankfully the taxis are cheap enough, but it`s a 20-30 minute ride into the city centre, or 10 minutes by helicopter.

Too far out for Weekend Break

We were a party of five on a long weekend sightseeing break. The Phoenix Hotel was situated approx 30/40 minutes taxi ride from the centre of Zagreb. This was too far out for our purpose. There were buses and trams which were not really convenient.The hotel is modern and the rooms were comfortable. The receptionist was not particularly helpful and lacked any useful knowledge of the area. He was unable to recommend any restaurant in the area or impart any other useful information. Having been allocated a room and having unpacked I asked for towels for the room as there were none. We were then allocated a different room and required to move. The reason was given that the Receptionist had made a mistake! The key card did not work on occasion requiring another trip to Reception for re-programming. We were about to order a round of drinks from the open bar at 10.20pm on Sunday evening only to be told that the bar was shut. On further questioning we were told it was due to staff shortage. We had no drinks. There was no safe in our room as advertised. Under repair/could not be found!! On the plus side the breakfast was excellent and the service very good. It included eggs etc cooked to order and a self service buffet.
As we were five in total we required a large taxi which seemed beyond reception to order. We found a firm called 'Oryx' Local tel 1888 which were able to provide a six plus seater when required.
Overall. too far from centre for comfort.

Very good experience

The staff was very personable and friendly, very helpful. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, and the waiters were very professional and competent. (We just found the prices on the menu to be quite expensive.) The breakfast buffet was outstanding. The rooms and bathrooms were very warm (we were there in December). It was quiet at night - no loud music or disturbances from nearby - so we could rest well. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel.

숙소 시설은 전반적으로 무난합니다~스파와 사우나도 괜찮았습니다. 단점은 위치가 너무 구석에 있어서 근처에 아무것도 없고 중심지에서 대중교통으로 한시간 넘게 걸려요. 버스도 엄청 안옵니다.. 하지만 직원분들이 엄청 친절하셨어요~ 스파 시간을 착각해서 마감 지나고 갔는데도 기다려주겠다며 더 열어주셨습니다 ㅜㅜ

Quite far from the city center but very easy by car and close to the highway.
