Fabulous value for the size of room.We have stayed here many times when visiting family in Retford. Our room this time was a little disappointing compared to all the other rooms we stayed in.The bed was a double but we only had a single wardrobe and 5 hangers.Usually there is ample wardrobe space and a seating area.I will definitely return but will ask for the rooms we've had on previous visits. It is a very comfortable place to stsy and handy for walking into town.

Short holiday to see family

We always enjoy our stay at the Lawns when we come to Retford to visit family and friends.
The rooms are much bigger than average and there is plenty of wardrobe space.
Lovely big towels and a good supply of hot drinks and bottled water.Extremely good value.

Only stayed one night, but this property was exactly as advertised on the Expedia site. It was clean, easy to find. Staff was friendly and helpful. The common kitchen was well equipped, clean and convenient. Close to grocery store, easy parking.

Really happy with our visit, we had 2 rooms and be very happy to visit again. One room we had the pillows were very firm and no complaint at all on the other. That’s not the end of the world, and don’t let this put you off.

Lovely stay here, the family room as nice and spacious and clean. We didn't have much interaction with staff as we arrived outside of hours, but their instructions were clear. There is a kitchen where you can cook your own food.

We stayed for 1 night at The Lawns Guest House & it is a really lovely place to stay.
The parking right outside meant it was very convenient & it was easy to find.
The room was lovely & very comfortable & clean but just a little dirty inside the bedside drawers.
Would definitely stay there again.

good big rooms ,good idea with the kitchens ,staff friendly and parking great ..but we did not find the bed gave much support at all.. mattress needs changing .if you are a light sleeper ask for a back room as the road in front is very busy and woke me up both mornings at 6.30ish.

The room was a nice size and the facilities good. The check in was easy and welcoming. We had room to park and a short walk into town which had lots to offer. There was no breakfast option but plenty of cafes in town. The only downside was the bed was a little uncomfortable as it was a double but we are used to our king size at home.

Great Guest House

Visited the area for the evening. Guest House contacted me in advance to check arrival time and were prepared to accommodate for a late check in if necessary.
All facilities in the room were satisfactory. Complimentary tea and coffee was a nice touch.
I had a family room, generous in size and split into 2 rooms so twin beds in one and double bed with bathroom in the other. Gave us privacy except for if someone in the twin room needed the bathroom.
No lock on the bathroom door which was a bit odd.
I would stay here again.

The hotel was very good and clean. Easy to find and plenty of parking. My only issue was the fact the family room is on the top floor and both windows were low down. Bit of a safety issue if you have young children coupled with the fact neither of the windows locks worked.

lovely and easy stay. couldn't figure out the TV. Few stains on the ceiling I wanted to mention just in case there is a plumbing leak and the management isn't aware. Would have liked a clean towels for a week stay but I could have asked and they probably would have provided. Overall very comfortable.

Absolutely fantastic

This hotel is the best one I have stayed in, my mum, myself and my 6month old son stayed in a 2 bed apartment and it was so clean, tidy, and fresh! The staff are absolutely amazing they are so friendly and easy to approach if there is something wrong, or if you need anything! The 'handyman' was outside our door on the day we left, and helped us down the stairs and into the other side with all our bags, and suitcases! He then went out of his way to get us teas, coffees, sugars etc! The cleaning staff were brilliant and absolutely fantastic at their job, all in all, all of the staff were amazing, and even interacted with my son who absolutely loved them all! I will definitely be booking in again, so worth the money and 5*! Thank you for such a lovely stay! 5*****

We stayed in one of their luxury rooms, did not live up to expectations. No issues with the welcome, we arrived early about 11.40am, official check in at 2pm. We arrived early to make use of Sunday trading hours as we have to make our own meals. We were told it would be ready in 10 minutes, so they gave us, a family of 4, water and biscuits. Appreciated thank you. The layout of the room is bizarre, a bed next to the tiny tv in the living room just does not work, this ought to have been a sofa bed. No bath just a shower, had we known this we would have probably booked elsewhere. The images on the website are misleading, especially the exterior and you can see why. Very run down, flaky paint etc. We found items in the room that the cleaners didn't spot, whilst I appreciate we got it early, all of our stuff fit in the boot of the car so would rather have walked to do the shopping and have the job done properly. Cheap toilet roll, uncomfortable beds, fine to rest on in the day but not to sleep in. TV in living room was tiny and Netflix didn't work. For £120 a night I expected better. Don't think I'd go back

Even though it was just an overnight stay, the accommodation provided everything we needed. The manager couldn't assist us enough throughout our stay and a small issue that we did have was rectified quickly and without fuss, but this issue was down to the booking agent/site we used and not the guest house/staffs fault. Would highly recommend to anyone planning on staying in Retford, as within walking distance of town centre for all amenatives. I wouldn't describe this as a guest house, more self contained apartments.

Loved the Lawns Guest House! Was a perfect stay for my boyfriend and I who were in the area for a wedding. The only thing is, if you don't have a car, it's not the most convenient location. We did the 25 minute walk to the train station multiple times and we booked cabs well in advance for the wedding. There was nothing around to even grab for breakfast really. But the hotel itself was really really lovely.

First impressions were good, until it was realised that the room was really cold,the radiators were 0ff and only one of the two could be turned on, this made little difference to the room temperature. The ensuite was
really warm with first class fittings. Having driven from the south coast we enquired where we could get an evening meal and were told there were two Chinese takeaways in the high street and that we could eat the food in the kitchen. In order to keep warm, we decided to go to bed early. It was ironic that we were too hot in the bed, This combined with outside road noise meant we slept poorly. probably it would have
been a different experience had we visited during the summer months

Great find - comfortable rooms with everything you would expect in a hotel not a guest house. Very well equipped kitchens downstairs which makes up for the room only letting policy - the town centre is walking distance so plenty of choices for eating in the evening. Couple of small shops nearby too.

Good hotel for Retford.

We stayed for one night, we were contacted on the day to give approx arrival. Warm welcome and shown to our room. The kitchen facilities are excellent and it would suit families on a budget as you could cook your own breakfast in the two very large kitchens. Hotel recommended taxis. The plus point was you get your own key to the entrance door and this was adjacent to parking.

Staff friendly, facilities clean and tidy at hotel. Parking on site.

Situated just a 10 min walk from town, the apartment had everything we needed. A fridge for food, microwave, oven and even a washing machine plus a two-seater sofa for relaxing. There was only 1 slight problem - not having a bedside light to be able to read by. But that will not stop us from booking again.

This was my second stay at the lawns. I was upgraded to a family room which was nice and luckily for me on the rear of the building so this was not a noisy room! A good sleep and shower. Great.
