1st night Ground floor opposite kitchens. Extractor fans very noisy, although we were assured that they were stopped at 9.00. However we were not advised that they restarted at 6.30am. Bed quilt smelled of cooked food presumably from the kitchen.
Room was generally tired and the bathroom was far too small and in need of refurbishment. No space to put anything except for one unsecured shelf behind the toilet.
Sitting properly on the toilet was impossible and one had to sit at an angle. After complaining, we were relocated to room 19, a better room but unfortunately a lot of road noise - no apology or assistance provided by staff to move. The toilet in Room 19 was abnormally low making it difficult to sit and get up from without a struggle. The seat didn’t match the size of the toilet. The rainshower was a joke as the water jets sprayed at every conceivable angle instead of straight down and no separate hand shower provided. The pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable and on returning in the evening, the quilt was askew and the pillows just thrown loosely into position. No care or attention had been paid to refresh the room. On our last night we stayed in Leonardo’s hotel at EM airport which was considerably cheaper but was was far better, quality of furnishings, cleanliness, bedding were first class. At the Crown parking facilities down to the customer to sort out and an unnecessary problem. Surely you can improve the system for hotel guests with a parking permit.

Suprisingly dissapointing.

Never once were we did the words \"welcome to the hotel\" or \"have a nice stay\" were spoken at reception or written in any messages. All we recieveed was a message listing the additional charges (car parking, early or late check in chareges) the day before our trip & at the reception I was simply told to put my personal details on the booking receipt & that if we wanted breafast it would be another additional charge & to go to the restaurant in the morning. The hotels facilities were never described to us either.
The room was clearly booked for two adults, but once in the room it had only been set up for a single occupancy (towels, milk for drinks etc)
The hotel & the room we had were fine & of a high standard. But, the customer service we recived was extremely poor.
Bawtry is a great little town with lots of bars restaurants etc. We live very closeby & were at a family wedding. We decided to stay here rather than relying in taxis. It wont happen again.

Situated in a nice town with good facilities.
Disappointed with a few things. Parking was near impossible, there were more spaces available but because of how tight the car park is, and how other people had parked, it was impossible to access the spare spaces.
No water in the rooms which I find poor when you consider the price we paid for a Thursday night - almost £200 for the night.
The bathroom was very nice and had a great waterfall shower however we couldn’t get any hot water from the shower - it was warm at best.
The room however was nice & it was clean.

Always a great stay at The Crown. Perfectly located in the centre of town. Shops, restaurants and bars all in walking distance.
Great facilities within the hotel. Rooms are spacious. Staff p professional and friendly.
Car parking directly outside of the property, pay and display, and limited parking behind the property £6.50.

Lovely sized bathroom.
A little dated corridors to the rooms
Was very noisy until 3am though. Wedding finished at 1.
Then for next two hours the noise from a neighbouring property was very loud. Window was open due to how warm it was.
Needed a dan in room in our opinion.

The room was nice and big but quite warm with no air conditioning. I was offered a fan but I am a light sleeper and we did have the windows open but it was quite noisy early morning. Having said that it would not put me off staying again in the same hotel. The hotel is perfectly positioned between Retford and Doncaster ideal for visiting family and friends.

I’ve stayed here before and will definitely stay again but only because it is convenient.
The room was far too hot, and I remember it being hot when I stayed before. It does make for an uncomfortable nights sleep. There were some idiots banging doors and shouting down the corridor at 3am, not the hotels fault but it did frustrate an already uncomfortable night. The staff were not particularly welcoming. I get like a disturbed their conversation when I checked in rather than feeling welcomed. And when I was given the key I was just pointed “Your room is that way” and that was my only direction. Bar service was slow but reasonably priced. Parking is easy, you just tap in your reg and it’s £6 for 24 hours.

Really poor standard generally. Hotel room was dirty and worn. No aircon working, noise from room above, dirty bathroom, poor coffee/tea facilities. Shower terribke and diffucult to use given the worn controls and the tray didnt drain whilst using.

We were having a meal in Bawtry so thought we would stay over rather than getting a taxi home, in future we will get a taxi.
Dark bedroom making getting ready not very easy, bathroom was unclean - mould and limescale all over bath, shower head & tiles.
To top it all off the wedding that was being held there over spilled into the car park right outside our bedroom where we had to endure arguing and someone being sick.
It’s not a cheap hotel but they’re riding on their name which if people carry on having these experiences then their name won’t mean much anymore.

Booked 8 bedrooms to stay at Christmas for a works Christmas party, every single room was dirty! The executive rooms are so bad, it stinks of chip fat in the corridor. The wine at the Christmas party was bad no one could drink it, everyone was complaining. The food was very average for £60 per head. It’s a shame as the crown used to be a nice hotel. It’s in desperate need of a renovation

Loved where the hotel is situated we enjoyed our stay because of the lovely area, great pubs and restaurants. The hotel itself, the bedrooms need a revamp. The bedroom ceiling had a very large patch on it where there had been a repair, very dated. I was surprised we had to pay for parking as the hotel has its own parking area.Considering where the hotel is situated we thought it would be more plush.

The staff are fabulous. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. The only issue is the shower is a rainfall fixed head no shower caps provided , also the executive rooms have a raised floor to the bed . My husband forgot in the middle of the night and fell quite badly on his way to the bathroom- so I would suggest some sort of trip hazard signing

Stay at Bawtry hotel

We loved our experience in the hote bar and restaurant but the room just wasn’t up to standard. The heating was on full blast all night long and the room was way too hot for my liking, there were no controls to get it at the right temperature so we had to sleep with the windows open all night, to hear noisey drunk people in the courtyard outside. Despite having the windows open it didn’t cook down and just ruined the whole stay from getting ready sweating to a lack of sleep. We told the receptionist and she apologised but nothing else happened.

It's a beautiful old building, in a pretty market town, probably an old coach house. The decor in the reception and restaurant is very pleasant, however, the room & bathroom needed some TLC. The bed had a very comfortable, firm mattress and the carpets appeared fairly new. A lack of plug sockets by the bed was an issue. Disappointed with the lack of air con, especially during a very hot visit!
Breakfast orders are taken at your table, with plenty of options. Juices and cereals are also available to help yourself, as are hot drinks. The cooked breakfast was really tasty, and for once, I left off the ketchup! It's just a shame there's a change for it - £12.
If, like me, you have a disability, it's worth asking for an easy access room, as there wasn't a lift to our room, and no disabled parking.
Parking was free at the rear, although limited, but is due to incur a charge of £6 from the beginning of July.
The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the hotel has a general pleasant atmosphere.

I have stayed here a number of times and the only problem is that there is a big heating pipe running through the rooms on the one side.

So even when you turn the radiator off it is way too hot in the room and when you open the window there is outside noise that makes for a restless stay

We would definitely go back, only downside, we stayed in room 104, which kept getting a blocked toilet and we felt for such a nice place the bathroom was tired. We only got one towel and the pillows had no protectors on them. We also had to pay for parking.
Please don’t let this put you off. We will be returning it’s just a bit of housekeeping.

Dog Friendly???

We brought our dog to this supposedly dog friendly hotel, dispite ringing prior to our stay to check they were aware we were bringing a dog ( did not show on booking), dispite us checking in with our dog with us, the next morning we were politely asked to leave the foyer as dogs not allowed in the hotel, but we were welcome to sit outside, yes it was under cover but it was cold and raining, apparently they only have 2 dog friendly rooms. The room was dark, everything was brown, walls, carpet, walls and this was not one of their dog friendly rooms, plus corridor not hoovered during our short 2 night stayreally spolit our stay, unable to eat at the hotel, left early next morning as made to feel unwelcome.

Great food, awkward car park, rooms need updating

The food was probably the best part of our stay, as was the service, however the rooms are beginning to look very tired. The carpet in my room was stained, the bathroom needs repainting and resealing. As for the awkward car park, you can only drive in forwards and reverse all the way back out - if you have a large car you will struggle to park in the narrow, angled spaces

For £115 I thought the room would be nicer the bath was old and damaged and shower wasn’t very powerful.Had the worst night sleep bed was so uncomfortable,pillows was thin and poor quality and staff and other guests was loud outside our window backing onto car park which kept us awake.The only good thing about our stay was the restaurant food and service was excellent.I would much rather stay at a premier inn for £79 as there rooms and beds much better quality

What used to be a gem is now a shadow of its former self.

The communal areas, restaurant and outside terracing where they have spent the money are still great but behind the scenes they are relying on their name as being a “good hotel” with no competition around.

I peeling bathroom, a toilet that didn’t flush well, a shower that was stuck on hot and you had no chance of moving with wet hands, sink taps that were stuck and ceased up and a mattress that was rock hard. Pillows that were flat with no body in them as they had been used that many times and the cheapest possible toilet paper make for an all together poor experience. Certainly not what you expect from “The Crown Hotel”.

Nice hotel, exec rooms need refurbishing!

The public areas of the hotel including reception, bar, restaurant etc are great. Refurbished recently we were told and you could tell, standard was very good. The rooms however are a different matter. We stayed in their top room (executive) that had a sitting area and better standard bathroom. The interior is incredibly tired and in dire need of a refurb. The Couch seemed tatty and dirty, bed had a wooden plinth around it at shin height that should come with a hazard warning. Made getting in and out of bed difficult, especially in the dark. The Bathroom, like the room, was probably nice 10 years ago. As a regular business traveller I was shocked the room didn’t have a couple bottles of water or a fridge/ mini-bar in it as one of their top rooms. We’re going back there next year for a wedding, we’ll just book a standard or superior room because the exec is not worth the extra charge.

pleasant first time at the crown.staff were amazing, breakfast was ok as it was served in a paper bag due to restrictions.coudnt tell if people were just grabbing one without having paid for a breakfast like we did. first time in a hotel due to covid-19. cleanliness was as good as expected although room looked a bit dated anyway. would stay again hopefully under no restrictions.car parking was a gamble wether you got a free space for the night but we were well looked after when we arrived and a space was found by the night manager who was exceptional.check in was good.especially Chloe.
