Diane on reception was super helpful and friendly. Thank you to her. Beautiful building and renovations. Stunning food in Darcey’s, probably one of the best starters (egg yolk) I’ve ever eaten. Rooms are cavernous, bathroom needed some TLC (Trow room). Breakfast was a bit of a letdown because of slow service. No glasses for juice, not quick enough to replenish the hot buffet, long waits and cold food. I ended up asking for pancakes which were delicious. Recommend staying here, just needs a few tweaks. Except for Diane! ⭐️

Receptionist was excellence, room was decent enough but whole place looking a bit tired. Really disappointing as had to cut shower short in the morning as drainage in bathtub was so poor. Didn't leave us enough time before checkout to raise with staff but really ruined the experience as instead of having 2 showers between us were restricted to 1/2 with the other person missing out.

Room needed extra heating, TV was in an odd place, had to get staff to bring a remote control, very small toiletries. Bathroom mirror so high, I could only see my eyes. Only 1 bedside lamp no light switch near bed only near door where you come in. Breakfast not much choice could be better. My husband Ordered porridge and full English to follow they were both brought at the same time. Very slow service and restaurant was not busy and very small. I have stayed in a lot of best western hotels but this one is at the bottom of my list.

I recently stayed at this hotel and, unfortunately, I was not impressed. On Saturday evening, there was a wedding party being held in a hall right next to my room. The noise was quite disruptive and made it hard to relax or sleep peacefully.

To make matters worse, on Sunday morning at 8:30 AM,the gardener started mowing the lawn right outside. It was loud and totally inconsiderate, especially for a Sunday morning at a supposed 4* stars hotel. I expected a more peaceful and restful experience, but sadly, that wasn’t the case.

The hotel may have potential, but the lack of attention to guest comfort during what should be quiet hours was very disappointing.

Property was beautiful, but rooms were not the best maintained, they were clean but there is definitely opportunities to fix small issues (heated towel rail not working etc).
Much of the character has been removed from the house with just a couple of reception rooms feeling like you’re staying in an old manor house.

Excellent Staff - deluxe bedroom needs TLC!

The ‘de luxe’ room left a lot to be desired. There was no fridge, only 1 bedside table lamp, cheap flimsy kettle. The duvet/quilt & pillows were certainly not up to a deluxe standard . The quilt was flat & worn, as were the pillows, which were compacted, bobbly & hence the pillowcases could not be fitted properly. The metal furniture (glass table & 2 chairs) were grubby, parts of the chairs rusty.
The breakfast (excellent choice )& the dinner were good value for money. The bathroom bath tap was wobbly & unstable & the general surfaces by sink etc needed replacing.

The most outstanding feature was all the staff & standard of service we received, which were outstanding throughout our stay.

Very overpriced for room only. First encounter with the young girl on reception was not very welcoming at all but when i went back to reception there was a fifferent receptionist and she was really lovely and the overnight receptionist was lovely too. Didn't eat or drink there as we were there to go out for the night with friends who live in next village, we went to Sheffield city centre to see peter kay and didn't get back till very late.

Wonderful retreat close to M1

An absolute gem of a hotel. Everyone was welcoming and helpful.
Our room - Trow - was absolutely amazing, huge, well equipped, clean and very comfortable.
The bar service, restaurant service and food were all first class.

Don’t bother to upgrade online!

Extremely disappointed. I upgraded to a luxury room to enjoy a king size bed.
I think because it was low season and the room wasn’t in use constantly the heating had been turned off so upon arrival the bedroom was extremely cold.
Eventually staff managed to get the heaters on but definitely not warm enough to take a bath, (the luxury I had desired all day). To add to our stress the phone rang twice in the middle of the night at 3am. then again 4am., after which we pulled the plug out of the socket.
The good things about our stay were good food, lovely fluffy towels, and pretty surroundings.

This has been a beautiful old property but like many now it is in need of renovation. My room was nice and spacious, clean and the bathroom actually had a bath which is nice. It was a little tired and need of some TLC. The breakfast was hugely disappointing. No one available to show me to a table and after waiting a while I was told they were busy and to sit anywhere. Hot drinks and hot food are to order. I waited 10 minutes before a drink order was taken and another 10 for it to arrive and the food order taken. I will just add there were only 2 other tables with people on and the staff seemed to be serving what looked like a meeting room elsewhere instead of dealing with hotel residents. The buffet was very basic. No fruit other than a small basket with a mouldy orange and some grapes. No gluten free options which is something most hotels offer as standard. Probably wouldn't return.

Exceptional service at Aston Hall Hotel

Receptionist went above and beyond the call of duty to upgrade us to a beautiful annexe as there were too many stairs to our original room. She insisted on carrying my case and took us there, amazing lady!

I would stay here every time.

The staff at this hotel were absolutely wonderful. I arrived after a long day and due to a failure of the Hotels.com app, my booking was not showing. The girl on reception found me a lovely room and helped me with the Hotels.com app cockup!
I will be staying at this hotel every time I am near Sheffield from now on. The food in the restaurant was good and the service great. Big thumbs up from me, a regular traveler. Well done !

Laundry delivery outside room at 7AM on a Saturday.
Gave food order to waiter of no salad in burger - came with salad. No onions in salad - came with onions. Apart from that food was good.
No atmosphere in restaurant or bar as so few people in. Had to wait in the bar for someone to notice us to get served.

Our room was quite expensive regarding the small size of the room and bathroom. The decor was rough with areas requiring repainting and the bathroom tap was in a poor state. Also there was a publc hair on the toilet seat, very undesirable to say the least!!!

Big fish, little fish, cardboard yolks

Nice hotel. I’d stayed earlier this year and the fish and chips I had here was the best I’d had for a long time. The fish was huge. I wanted to stay again to have the same meal but this time around it was about 1/2 the size with fewer chips and it might have actually cost a little more. That was disappointing and the reason for not awarding a 5th star. I had the poached eggs for breakfast and there appears to be an inability amongst hotel cooks to create a runny yolk.
The hotel is nice though and I’d stay again but may choose different food or eat elsewhere.

Amazing Receptionist. We arrived bout 3pm nd checked in with no issues. When we arrived at our room it was beautifully clean but unfortunately smelt very highly of lillies and myself being allergic to lillies and asthmatic started wheezing and coughing. We found many small.air freshner balls on th floor and the smell was from them. I went down to reception and the lady came up immediately to investigate, the hotel was full due to 2 weddings but she managed to find us another room and moved our stuff into it. First class sevice from this receptionist..Would highly recommend and stay here again. Lovely hotel and grounds

The hotel is a beautiful 18th century building in attractive grounds. On arrival we were greeted in a friendly and efficient manner. Our room was disappointingly small apart from the very high ceiling, didn't contain any chairs and suffered from a humming noise that made it difficult to sleep properly. The bathroom was adequate, although it could have benefited from a refurbishment. Nevertheless, we were comfortable and warm despite the cold temperatures during our stay. Even so, for the level of charges I would have expected better.

Northern Escape!

Great location in an old country house built in 1772, with more modern extensions. Room was pretty large and the wetroom was huge. The bed looked like a double but had two mattresses, which was not really ideal. Heating was good and the room was comfortable throughout our stay. Disappointed that the gym was no more (and the website still listed it as present). The lovely grounds (55 acres!) make you think that you are miles from anywhere. The neighbouring church building was not open when we visited.
Full English breakfast was good.
The hotel seems to be doing well, with a reasonable trade in business conferences, with plenty of meeting rooms. Lovely reception inside the front door with a blazing log fire - very welcoming.
Some strange design \"features\" in our room (304?): tall bedside lamps with switches on the top - why not on the base?; toilet roll holder behind you when sitting down - so we kept the roll next to the wash basin for easy access; then the light switches - the furthest on the wall outside the bathroom was for the bathroom.
Great location, with easy access from the motorway.

Very nice hotel, welcoming reception, nice spacious room with super comfortable bedding. Coffee & tea making facility in room. had drinks and light bites in bar, excellent would recommend the platter. Breakfast great, served at table and cooked to order all very civilised. Very wide choice all freshly cooked, a nice surprise in hotels these days. We stayed only one night for a shopping trip to Medowhall. Loated just 300 yds from M1 South at Aston, just 8 mins on M1 to Medowhall. Could not fault this hotel in any way.
