Many problems. Firstly my contactless card has been charged £90 for a £9 glass of wine. Second, the hotel has taken £50 deposit and not yet returned this. Apart from the money the toilet flush did not work properly, refilling the cistern after use was erratic. We had one towel for two people, the shower is only drench (no shower cap available). Staff were not as helpful/friendly as you would hope, WiFi kept dropping out. Finally a minor disability issue. There is a good ramp to the reception, but only accessible from the car park over a raised kerb.

In general the hotel was of a good standard the food was very good at breakfast I feel that it lacked choice and beverages should of been more accessible.
The bedroom was of a very good standard but lacked a blind so that the curtains could be open and still have privacy where as now once the curtains are open there is no privacy and people can look in from the car park. The shower area could do with a shelf for the shampoo and body wash or dispenser.

Expectations were high after been at the venue a few years ago for a christmas gala and overnight night, enjoying our experience overall.
We attended The Austin wedding on Sunday 14th June
We checked in online but didn't actually collect our belongings from the car until 7.10pm (after the ceremony/reception).
We were allocated room 212 - upon arrival I noted the bed unmade, wet towels/shower mat on the bathroom floor, no tea, coffee or kettle in the room
No cups for the hot drinks
No glasses in the bathroom
No clean towels
I phoned reception and they assured me the room would be serviced - obviously we could not wait., We changed our clothes and went to the evening event.
On coming back to the room some time later
Bed had been made, towels in the bathroom - still no tea/coffee facilities no cups and glasses
The bathroom floor did not appear to have been cleaned either
I phoned reception again - no reply. I phoned catering , who after half an our brought up tea/coffee, milks and sugar
but alas, still not kettle, cups or glasses - this point, my main concern was been able to take my regular medications and my husband for his heart medications .
I called reception again and the same gentlemen, did after half an hour at least, bring them up.
I have to also mention the bar service in the main hall for the wedding just having 1 person a majority of the time was quite inappropriate, especially knowing the volume of people attending the wedding. Needed more staff overall tbh

Room clean and looked good but was stifling. No adjustment on the thermostat. Portable air cooler in the wardrobe. Switched on terrible smell. Checked inside water hopper was covered in stinking slime. No hot water to the sink.
Terrible attitude of a couple of staff members.
Breakfast was a sham. Tiny side plates for breakfast. Asked for a second coffee and was told they had run out and weren't making any more. This was 9.15 am. Barman tried adding on extra drinks.

My single room was very poor , needed a deep clean , bathroom ground in grime , curtains hanging off the hooks and window paint peeling off . The bed was old and uncomfortable.There was a block of wood and I wondered what it was for , I realised when I opened the window that you needed it to keep the window open . Fan didn’t work in the bathroom . The toilets downstairs in the old part absolutely stank of sewerage , and that’s not new as they stank the same last year when I visited for a wedding .

Booked a room for 1 based on a 3 night stay. Room was sufficient based in the original older building. Bit tired but adequate based around the price I paid. Wedding was on which I gather will be a frequent weekend event based on the location/amenities. Did not bother me too much personally as I was out of the hotel for most of my stay but obviously there was noise connected to the partying which is to be expected..overall a good stay and the breakfast and breakfast service was good.

The price at the bar was horrendous £11 for a glass of pressecco and £8 for a pint of lager. Thers no need to charge this much with the volume of people going to a wedding. They have got your pants down really. Needs to be better signage for each wedding party as guests were in the wrong wedding. The furniture in the wedding venues very poor ...chairs were so wobbly not safe at all. The hotel itself is lovely the rooms are spacious clean and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was really nice . Needs some attention in the waiting areas to go into the wedding.

The main corridor from lift needs to be improved so that a lot lighter. The bathroom
Very disappointing. So dark could not see control indicators- not every one wants a drench experience no hooks near shower for towels/clothes, no shower gel, shower cap or sani bags. No non slip mat , I was not confident that the tiles were non slip.. Toilet felt insecure as if would cone away from wall, again very dark.
The bed side light was awful, like looking at clear bulb, not near enough to read in bed comfortably. Switches on side of head board difficult to use unless sat up.
Very Bad cold plates for a hot breakfast - why.
On a postive note the staff were professional and helpful, the food at the wedding breakfast was excellent.

The room we had at the front of the hotel had a chipped sink and dirty shower. No air conditioning is installed so the room was extremely warm which caused us not to have a great night's sleep! The hotel promises a lot but it failed to deliver for us. The food is overpriced, catering to the execs on expenses, especially the breakfast, limited selection with only one person available for service so tables were dirty and cutlery missing. Our evening meal had a large hair in it and had to be sent back. So as a summary, overpriced and understaffed, the combination did not make a great stay.

The staff are always very pleasant and helpful, and check-in is smooth and friendly every time.

Unfortunately, I’ve been disappointed with housekeeping on my last few stays. I’ve left the “Clean My Room” tag on the door when leaving in the morning, but returned to find the tag still there and the room untouched. I have mentioned this previously at reception, but sadly it doesn’t seem to have improved.

Apart from this issue, I absolutely love staying here.

The wedding was fantastic. The staff was very helpful. The only grippe we had was the room which was clean but we had a tap that didn’t work and also the Air-conditioning did not work and when opening the window we got woken up at 5 am setting out chairs for the next wedding

Would I stay again yes but will ask for a different room and make sure that I have air-conditioning-working.

I was there for a wedding and it went without a hitch parking at venue was great right in front of front doors. My only disappointment was our room 115 from the minute we got in it just smelt of drains and as the time went on it got worse to the point it was making us feel sick. We never complained because of wedding party but as we were leaving a few more couples mentioned the smell next door to ours and across from us. I hope this is a one off because it definitely brings the tone of a beautiful hotel down.

Had a lovely wedding but only down side very limited hot drinks in the room and a biscuit would have been a nice touch. Also the bar was very expensive for alcohol drinks and some people with us who were driving got charged £12 for two large cokes .

However next day.. left ticket on door for my room to be cleaned.. the bed was not made up neatly.. just thrown up and pillows not put back in a tidy position.. I expected decent toiletries in bathroom.. no shampoo first two days.. one of the bedside lamps didn’t work.. bit of a health and safety issue for me.. as I get up during the night and didn’t expect this .. to not easy to navigate channels.. watched Netflix on my iPad for duration of stay. Breakfast was disappointing.. not enough healthy or fresh options.. eg dried fruits instead of fresh. I paid for breakfast before arriving.. but ended up only having one as I went to a local cafe where they had fresh produce which was much more suitable for my dietary needs.Also on pricing! I got charged €14 for 2 cups of coffee!! Ridiculous price for guests staying at your hotel.. Another problem I had was trying to find any information about the dinner menu and prices.. There should be information in the hotel rooms for guests so that they can make a decision as whether to reserve a table. Also no information about spa or gym in room! Second day however bed was made up more satisfactorily and Elemis toiletries were available In bathroom. 😊. Staff were varied.. looking smartly dressed.. but I have definitely been in other establishments where the staff are much more energetic and engaging with their customers. Sorry wouldn’t stay again unless some changes were made.

We stayed here for our friends wedding reception but for the price of our room £151 for a night we were disappointed.
Bring your own toiletries as the hotel only supply x1 of each 30ml shower gel shampoo conditioner. No enough for 2 guests for 4 showers. No fridge in room to put milk (if like me who loves her cuppa tea) or bring your own wine .hotel will charge you if you leave your empty bottles in the bin . Small Cold plates at breakfast (we had a cooked one) i did ask the waitress for a warm plate but she said they dont have a plate warmer. Overall hotel looks lovely from outside bed was comfy but im afraid to say ive stayed at some fantastic hotels but this isnt one of them Ps they will take an extra £50 from you at check in refundable if no damage to the room or empty alcohol bottles in bin. Order at the bar a large white wine + pint of cider costs £20

When returning it always smells strongly of fried food I presume some over lap between kitchen extract and room intake.

The glass bathroom door snags on the floor so dropped on hinges cant open door more than halfway. Surprised Chamber maids had not flagged it but not the end of the world.

But in general a pleasant enough stay and will come again

Staff in all areas excellent. Restaurant, bar and reception areas are lovely, modern and clean. Good quality food in restaurant at breakfast and dinner. Slight disappointment was in cleaning in bathroom - unfortunately grout and shower screen had that horrible orange mould. Not a job for day to day cleaning, just needs a good clean maybe once a month. Bed comfortable, pillows very lumpy. That said still a very good hotel and will stay again, this was our 3rd visit.

The room was clean and suitable. We had a meal in the orangery which was very good, the food was nice and it was made better by the 50% off food deal. Drinks are expensive in the bar.
We took our dog as the hotel was advertised as being dog friendly, unfortunately this was not the case. We were charged an additional £50 that was not advertised and the only area we could take her was the entrance lobby. I wouldn't take her again.

I love staying at Wildes Chesterfield, the staff are fantastic and can’t do enough to make sure my stay is wonderful. I admire Liam, one of the managers, he works hard to ensure that everything is just as it should be and he remembers people and their needs. My room was very clean, the pillows and bed were so comfy, it was lovely and warm in my room. The breakfast is fantastic. When I stay at Wildes I get a chance to rest and relax in a beautiful room and I love it. Thank you to Liam and his well lead team of kind, friendly and helpful staff.

This is our second visit to this hotel and once again the staff in reception, bar and dining were excellent. All the public areas are welcoming and modern. Breakfast was very good too with lots of choices. Only small issue was our room, which although a good size, comfortable bed etc it didn’t appear to have been hoovered and there was a couple of small issues with the bathroom cleaning. As others have mentioned the bar prices seem quite high on certain things. While we are prepared to pay extra for lovely surroundings and service, we do feel £16.00 for a large glass of wine is a bit expensive. Offers on mid day dining were very good and food and service excellent. We wouldn’t let the small cleaning issue put us off returning as it was possibly a ‘one off’ incident.
