We stayed here for our friends wedding reception but for the price of our room £151 for a night we were disappointed.
Bring your own toiletries as the hotel only supply x1 of each 30ml shower gel shampoo conditioner. No enough for 2 guests for 4 showers. No fridge in room to put milk (if like me who loves her cuppa tea) or bring your own wine .hotel will charge you if you leave your empty bottles in the bin . Small Cold plates at breakfast (we had a cooked one) i did ask the waitress for a warm plate but she said they dont have a plate warmer. Overall hotel looks lovely from outside bed was comfy but im afraid to say ive stayed at some fantastic hotels but this isnt one of them Ps they will take an extra £50 from you at check in refundable if no damage to the room or empty alcohol bottles in bin. Order at the bar a large white wine + pint of cider costs £20

A couple of minor things with room 222
When returning it always smells strongly of fried food I presume some over lap between kitchen extract and room intake.

The glass bathroom door snags on the floor so dropped on hinges cant open door more than halfway. Surprised Chamber maids had not flagged it but not the end of the world.

But in general a pleasant enough stay and will come again

Staff in all areas excellent. Restaurant, bar and reception areas are lovely, modern and clean. Good quality food in restaurant at breakfast and dinner. Slight disappointment was in cleaning in bathroom - unfortunately grout and shower screen had that horrible orange mould. Not a job for day to day cleaning, just needs a good clean maybe once a month. Bed comfortable, pillows very lumpy. That said still a very good hotel and will stay again, this was our 3rd visit.

The room was clean and suitable. We had a meal in the orangery which was very good, the food was nice and it was made better by the 50% off food deal. Drinks are expensive in the bar.
We took our dog as the hotel was advertised as being dog friendly, unfortunately this was not the case. We were charged an additional £50 that was not advertised and the only area we could take her was the entrance lobby. I wouldn't take her again.

On the minus side, such a shame that there is a £10 charge to use the gym! Also no breakfast available on our second morning due to low hotel occupancy (but we did receive a £10 each refund)!

I love staying at Wildes Chesterfield, the staff are fantastic and can’t do enough to make sure my stay is wonderful. I admire Liam, one of the managers, he works hard to ensure that everything is just as it should be and he remembers people and their needs. My room was very clean, the pillows and bed were so comfy, it was lovely and warm in my room. The breakfast is fantastic. When I stay at Wildes I get a chance to rest and relax in a beautiful room and I love it. Thank you to Liam and his well lead team of kind, friendly and helpful staff.

The property was nice inside but the room we had was in the old part wasn’t very clean a lot of dust furniture tatty curtains hanging off the rail water stains on ceiling paint all flaking on the walls in the window and a lot of cold coming from the windows really bad stains on the mattress but the towels and bedding was very clean left the portable heater on all nite to keep the room warm

This is our second visit to this hotel and once again the staff in reception, bar and dining were excellent. All the public areas are welcoming and modern. Breakfast was very good too with lots of choices. Only small issue was our room, which although a good size, comfortable bed etc it didn’t appear to have been hoovered and there was a couple of small issues with the bathroom cleaning. As others have mentioned the bar prices seem quite high on certain things. While we are prepared to pay extra for lovely surroundings and service, we do feel £16.00 for a large glass of wine is a bit expensive. Offers on mid day dining were very good and food and service excellent. We wouldn’t let the small cleaning issue put us off returning as it was possibly a ‘one off’ incident.

We couldn’t fault it and having never stayed in a Wildes Inns hotel before, we will definitely be looking out to stay in another one next time we’re away.

The hotel has a lot of potential but there is a lot to improve in terms of cleanness and experience, for example WIFI in the rooms, the room smell badly of damp, the handle door in the bathroom was lose, there were not light curtains, the Kettler was full of water when I arrived, just to mention few things

My room was in the older part of the hotel, limited security to main external entrance door that accesses the building.
Bedroom entrance doors are old and include basic locking function that requires manual locking from inside and manual release to unlock.
I wouldn't want my wife to stay in this building without me being there.

Had a great stay, room service was great and clean and comfortable. The only downside I had in room 126 was that you could hear the gym, treadmill, dropping weights etc woke me up very early. Would stay again but would ask to be as far away from the gym as possible.

We had a nice stay at Widness Inn. The staff were welcoming, warm and friendly. The total decor is good; however, a couple of things prevent me from giving this a 5-star review. My meal was not good. My dish was over-salted, almost inedible. If I had been in a different company, I would have sent it back. The people dining with me made similar negative comments about their food. The upstairs corridors to the rooms are poorly lit. At breakfast, there was only a choice of small plates as large plates had run out. It's a shame, as everything else was fine.

The property was convenient as a base to go sightseeing, the restaurant was really easy for evening meal. The staff at reception and dining room very helpful and tried to help accommodate our requests noting one person was elderly and disabled.
I thought I had book a hotel that was accessible , I rung hotel from AU prior to arrival , The team tried to help us as best that they could. unfortunately our first room was up a flight of stairs without lift access, there was a step into bathroom. This was hard for disabled person having to use crutches to walk. Reception helped by moving us to the new part of the building with a lift on our 2nd night unfortunately the shower was over a bath no grab rails disabled person could not use. The room was very far away from the lift also difficult for a person with limited mobility. On discussion about concerns , we were offered a room with a shower but it meant there was only a double bed. I had requested twin rooms because I was travelling with an elderly parent.
The disable parking was not near the entry points also difficult for a person with Mobility issues.
Overall, it’s a nice place to stay but for a person with Mobility issues it may not be the right place to stay.

First of all we had paid for our room in total. Only to be asked at check in for £50per night which was £100. Just incase. We thought that was out of order. Got to our room very dusty, shower was limescaled and not very clean. The bathroom ceiling had black marks all over, the door did not lockThere was a fan in the room that was broken,the window only opened a couple of inches. It was very hot in the room. First morning we weren't told where breakfast was. First day tea and coffee flowing. Day we were leaving no orange juice,no tea and coffee on tap as the first day. Not enough staff there were 2 to cover breakfast which wasn't even close to enough. Would not recommend and will not return. Check in and out staff were off no welcome. When we checked out we told there was an outstanding payment of £20.00 we asked what for she said we had 2 extra breakfasts which we did not.so didn't have to pay. We would get the money we paid 100.00 back in 3-5 days.

Lovely hotel with great service

Wildes is a lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, they couldn’t do enough for us. Beautiful room, lovely food and all that you would want from a hotel. Good price too!
We were visiting the local area and it was perfect, easy access from the M1, we went to local places, I golfed and my Wife went to Meadowhall. Will definitely use again on the next trip.

Could have been such a lovely stay.

Stayed at Wildes Inns for a family wedding and have to say that, unfortunately, we would not return. The venue was beautiful for the wedding and everything was lovely but the room was very small and exceptionally hot meaning we barely slept.
We had also paid £50 extra to take our dog with us but she was in distress as it was far far too hot. We were two floors up with no lift available and the heat intensified as you went up the stairs. I appreciate air con may not be possible in an old building but maybe portable units should be in those rooms. Housekeeping did give us an extra fan but this wasn’t great. I couldn’t go for the included breakfast as we could not have left her to go for breakfast and just wanted to get out of the room as soon as possible as it was just breathless.
I have now on return had the £50 holding charge taken from my account that my card number was taken for on check-in that I was told was a hold for if we charged anything to our room, which we didn’t. (Taken, not showing as pending)
Such a shame as this really could have been a lovely stay but it was just really really spoiled by a number of things.
My biggest take away I can give to others is please do not book this hotel with pets in summer, the temperature these rooms reach is not suitable.

Was a birthday celebration with family
We ordered steak which was of very poor quality
We were asked how we would like our steak cooking
There was lots of confusion regarding which steak was for which diner on arrival at the table
One member of the group requested his steak to be blue which it clearly wasn’t on arrival
The waiter did return it to kitchen but were were then told there was no more steak available so he ordered ribs which again was of very poor quality and very small portion
It was a very poor service overall
When the young waiter bought the starters he couldn’t identify between prawns and calamari
Surely that is down to training
As if that wasn’t enough our daughter messaged us to ask if we were enjoying the meal
She stated that she has emailed , rung and paid £36 for a bottle of wine that she hoped would be presented with our meal as a surprise
This request was never carried out
We were not difficult customers we just wanted to enjoy the experience
Jake who I believe was one of the managers did understand and reassured us that our concerns would be followed up
He personally rang my daughter and apologised and refunded my daughter
He was most apologetic and dealt with the issues very professionally

Stayed for my daughter and son in laws wedding.
Beautiful place, excellent day.
My only complaint was that the bedrooms were unbelievably hot. Fans were provided but did nothing. It was so hot that hair and makeup were almost impossible and sleeping very difficult.
I think also it would be a great help if there was somewhere bigger for the bridal party to get ready as the rooms are so small.
