Check in experience was awful. We arrived at 1pm, two hours before checkin and were told that the room wasn’t ready. So that was no problem. We went for a wander and returned at 3:45, 45 minutes after check in and were told the room STILL wasn’t ready despite arriving earlier and that check in was 3pm.
Furthermore, the queue to even get to reception was ridiculous and receptionists were regularly without someone at the desk but not asking anybody to move forward.
Lastly, the car parking is a charged service which is not on the hotels.com listing! It’s £6 per 24 hours.

In fairness the coronavirus rules made it hard to provide a full service and they had put every measure in place that they could. Unfortunately ,this included having to take our cooked breakfast in a bun,wrapped in foil up to our room, it tasted awful especially with tea from a paper cup. They put this down to the rules, but they were serving evening meals at the table as long as you had a reservation. I can't see why the same rule couldn't have applied for guests having breakfast. The room was a bit dated although the bathroom had been modernised and was very nice with a good hot shower. The room itself was dirty with a red stain on the woodwork which looked like blood, but was probably jam. Nobody had moved the furniture to clean underneath, despite the hotel being closed for the the last 3-4 months. The positives were plenty of parking, necessary for some as it was quite a walk to the city centre, and the staff were friendly and welcoming, once we had found the way in!

When booking the room we specified in Options-Double bedroom/non smoking & also rang to confirm at hotel. When arrived only to be told a twin bedded room was the only one available & they were fully booked!! One of the beds mattress was higher at one end than the other causing my husband an uncomfortable night which was not needed as had just come back from hospital after tests. We would have asked to be moved but knew this was not available. Mentioned when checking out & they did refund £14 from the bill. We have stayed at Holiday Inns before & had no problems. Overall the stay was good value for money; the room was very spacious with big and comfortable bed; very quiet but i requested room on a higher floor (7th). The breakfast a bit too basic for my taste and 4 star hotel, the same with lack of some basic complimentary toilettries in a room, you have to call housekeeping for it. But in a convenient location to the train station about 10-15min walk and this is was my main reason for staying here as i was going to the Peak District early next morning. No room service but you can order in a bar and take dinner to your room; the evening meal was good and the portions are more than enough. For the same price would happily stay here again

Great value for a city centre hotel especially as it includes breakfast. Staff were helpful and room was a good size. Only small negative was that when we move the sofa bed slightly there had clearly been no deeper clean of the room recently with lots of dust Anna’s some rubbish underneath. However bathroom was immaculate and otherwise well cleaned.

Location is on the fringe of the city centre, but little in the way of public transport between the city centre and the hotel. 'Reception' staff were friendly and efficient. Room was clean and comfortable. The kettle in the room was not working, which we reported to a member of 'housekeeping' staff who said he would be 'back in a couple of minutes' to solve the problem. He never came back at any time, which is why I have rated 'service' as only 'average'.

We walked to Hotel from the train station, it wasn't a particularly nice walk as we had to cross tramlines and walk past a very run down part of Sheffield. First impression was that the reception was dirty and very busy. There was a delay for our room to be available. It was actually a nice room with a huge bed and nice bathroom. The hotel is difficult to find as after a night out the taxi driver dropped us off and pointed to an outside elevator to get to hotel !!! Breakfast was fine but could be better.
