Very clean, really beautiful studio. Just be aware if on rooms 11 or higher you are on the 2nd floor and staircase is a bit tricky

The property is ideally situated for the city centre.
Very clean and tidy, easy checking in process on the morning of check in you are sent a message with the codes to get into the property and for the key safe of your room.
Would stay here again.

Good location but lacks comfort

Handy for the city centre. Bed was standard double and a very soft, uncomfortable mattress and squeaked when moving. When all you are really paying for is somewhere to sleep, I think the bed is the most important thing, and it really let the place down. Shower was good but towels poor quality. No teabags or milk sachets provided. TV was not positioned to be able to see it from the bed and there was no where else to sit. Overall would not recommend.

Our room was clean, and close to shops and pubs and just a stone throw away from parking. Property itself was easy to access, lovely and clean and had good feel to it.
Keysafe literally outside your door.

The room was so small, as you opened the door the bed was there, very standard room, very hot, it was like sleeping in a sauna, there was a fan but this didn’t really cool the room down, the bed is so soft both myself and husband had a terrible nights sleep and had lots of aches and pains.
The towels put the bathroom were horrendous, it was like drying yourself on a wash leather.
Wouldn’t rush back to stay unless it was very last resort.

To start, the Three Cranes did not provide amenities as listed.
There is no laundry facilities as advertised. If you’re planning for an extended stay and need laundry, the hotel will not have available facilities.
These are not ‘serviced apartments’. The only service you can expect is to have a clean room when you arrive. There will be no cleaning during your visit.
I needed towels during my visit so I pulled aside a cleaning lady. She had to call her manager to see if it was okay to give me new towels. After learning this about towels, I went and bought extra toilet paper.

Other things that I didn’t like. The only soap provided in the shower was an almost empty bottle of suave shampoo. No new soap or body wash. Thank goodness I brought my own.
The walls are paper thin. I spent one night listening to a couple argue and was concerned there may be a domestic dispute taking place. You will also hear your neighbors watching t.v or chatting. My ear plugs were a life saver!
One evening was spent with the lower floor flooded with marijuana smoke and a bunch kids standing inside the front door while suspiciously meeting people in their cars all night.

What I did like is the rooms are actually decent and look like the advertised pictures.
The location is fantastic if you’re interested in visiting the city center. Close by is a proper pub called the Three Tuns (highly recommend).

The place has lots of potential to be amazing. The place could use some more hospitality.

Good apartment to stay at. Could occasionally hear the neighbours but nothing distracting. Good cooking equipment but did have to go and buy some stuff in. The cutlery was dirty when first arrived but a quick wash fixed that. Comfortable bed.

Joe is easy to reach. The location of this property is superb. It's in city centre. The tram is within a couple of minutes walk. Everything is within walking distance.

A fantastic find for our needs. The owner was exceptionally helpful. Central to the city. Great value for money. We had a great room.

However a few things to make it better :
1- the oven/microwave didn’t work even after trying a few times. It needs a master in engineering to make it work. Maybe stick with 2 separate items.
2- Not ideal for light sleepers. Can sadly hear a lot through the walls.
3- although the apartment was clean. I am not too sure the hoover was done.

Thank you though. We enjoyed our 4 night stays and we will for sure come back when we need.

Great location right in the city centre and fantastic for Ponds Forge- the reason I come to Sheffield is for swimming comps so that was handy, this was my first time staying here. I liked the kitchen facilities that was another seller for me as it means cooking your own food and not having to eat out whilst at competition. The bed was okay but extremely squeaky and the bedding was very thin. Overall bedroom was good, lovely rainful shower and lots of space & storage. I was on ground floor in room 1 meaning I had all the street noise including being woken by people shouting outside at all hours in the morning- this wasn’t ideal. The walls also must be like paper as I could hear every time someone entered the building and even conversations others were having in the corridor. Overall decent stay and I did like the room- for noise levels i’m not sure I would return as a good nights sleep is important- I didn’t sleep well at this competition.

Great apartment but plumbing issue

The apartment is very comfortable and has all you need. The only issue is the bathroom drainage. There was a smell coming from the bathroom and I realised that when the next room used their drainage, the shower trap gurgled. This is allowing foul air from the drains to come into the room. I filled the shower trap by running the water and the problem went away. I'm no expert but I think there needs to be an air admittance valve fitted.

Easy to walk anywhere- good location.
Good communication.
Generally clean apartment.
Cons:
No soap provided for your hands in bathroom.
Ground floor room meant we were constantly woken up during the night by other people staying arriving back.
No scrubber for washing dishes/cups.
Sheets had stains on them.

Good convenient location in heart Sheffield. Stayed before, when new so looking a bit tired now. A great room with good facilities mini kitchen etc. Very comfortable, could be noisy as room this time on street level. But luckily a quiet street in Sheffield and a quiet Saturday night.

Less than advertised, better choices in Sheffield

This was advertised as an apartment with a little kitchenette. The microwave and mini-fridge worked but the cook-top did not and while there was plenty of cabinets, they packed most of the basics to make a meal. Washing up liquid, a knife, etc. would make the kitchen functional
The unit is also advertised as having access to laundry facilities, this is only through staff with limited hours.

The 2 bed unit was clean. But the shower was not great. There were lots of biting insects inside. It was cool/ damp outside and the room felt damp the whole time- needed a dehumidifier or other solution.

Location was good, not far from high street and access to public transport. Price was good. Common areas looked rough, but we being cleaned while we were there. Just overall not a great experience.

I would not recommend staying in a standard studio on the ground floor if you are here for a swimming competition. We were right by the entrance to the apartments so were woken up several times during the night by people returning into the early hours.
Our bedding smelled damp. The shower drain was clogged with hair from a previous occupant. There was no housekeeping. No changes to towels or linen as advertised. It was difficult to dry anything because the windows cannot be left open for security reasons. Cooking equipment more suited to one person. We left early and booked somewhere else to stay.

The property does not have Lift and hauling all the bags to 2nd floor thru the narrow stairs was terrible. The staff knowing well that room window is not operational, still allocated the room to us when there were many empathy room available with them, then charge me extra for opening the window due suffocation, instead of giving me discount for the uncomfortable stay. Even the Hotel.com says, there is restaurant, it was not there. Such non standard property should not be hosted and the it was overpriced. To top it all the flats were very dirty and done only superficial cleaning. Pricing from Hotel.com is very opaque.

The room has nice decor and furniture was lovely however there was no natural light in the room as directly behind the window was a brick wall. During the evening we found a used sanitary towel under the bad amongst other things which is absolutely vile. There was a bar located inside the building which was closed the whole time we were there (a Saturday night) and the area in which the property is located was less than pleasant. To park outside the property it would cost £36, the car park around the corner cost £20 (the owner kindly directed us to it).

Sadly disappointed because it has great potential

Sadly the drains in the bathroom absolutely stank and this permeated out into the studio apartment, even with the door closed.

Also, I had a booking for Sunday and only received the check in details at midday when I called them to ask for the details. They thought I was staying on Monday even though my booking was for Sunday.

The 'double' bed was a one and half size double which realistically is too small for two adults. I was expecting a normal double size bed.

Overall good accommodation with a good location. However, the toilet had a terrible smell so we had to keep the door closed. Additionally, towels from previous guests were left behind the door. The bathroom had hair. Besides this, the location and the overall aspect of the room are very good, so I recommend it, but hope the manager prioritizes the cleanliness of the room.

We found the room was very cold initially. This was due to the radiator being switched off. Once the room had warmed it was found to be cleaned tidy.
However, at 6am we were awoken by the person in the room above. This person walked and walked and appeared to move furniture around till after 9am. The floorboards were squeaking so loudly, it was impossible to sleep. It is unclear whether this was a resident or an employee. The noise in room 6 from this person was unbearable. Would not recommend staying here.

Fairly easy to access and check-in, but the bed spread wasn't the cleanest and walked in to find a spider on the wall. Later also found a fly buzzing it's way around the room also.

Rest of the room fairly clean otherwise and facilities were adequate.

Biggest complaint was the noise coming from rooms on the same floor - a group of people shouting at the top of their lungs from 3am onwards and music blasting out until the early hours which meant it was difficult to sleep.

Outside noise on the street not very well kept out by the windows either, even when locked and closed.

Looks Nice but not the nights sleep we wanted!

A nice little hotel as you walk up, rooms look nice and have a number of comforts. However, there were a few issues with our stay in Dec 2023, the rooms are so warm and the temperature of the room can’t be controlled individually like most hotels, the “flusher” on our toilet was broken so you could hear water trickling all night. The part that has made me leave the 2 star review is the fact that in total we only got about 50 mins of sleep. While we were there people were running up and down the stairs all night shouting and what sounded like arguing. The walls are definitely thin as when the shouting did stop at about 5am you can still hear people walking around. Unfortunately wouldn’t recommend staying at the hotel after our experience. However, if you are lucky and manage to stay when the other rooms are not occupied then I’m sure you can have a nice stay.

We checked in late and went to our room. Quite small when we got in and not quite sure if a would call it a boutique hotel.
What annoyed us was the crumbs and bits of broken glass on the floor in the room and bathroom, which clearly hadn't been done before we arrived. The guy on reception apologised and we had to give him some time to bring a vac and do the floor.
The bathroom was very small but the shower was great.
Didn't have breakfast the next day so can't comment on that.

Firstly the receptionist told me that the room he took us to was the only one available. I had booked one with a settee . After telling me several times he had no other room I walked away. He ran after me and said I could have room 7 but as he was understaffed he had to clean the rooms himself. It would be ready at 6. We left to go for a meal and when we arrived back our bags were there in room 7. No microwave...no cleaning equipment, dustpan and brush, no tea towel, no oven glove. No wine glasses but a wine opener. Settee had no padding left in it and one of the dining chairs was broken. When I stripped the bed I was appalled at the stained mattress protector, pillows, which had no protector covers and the badly stained duvet. The chap did say that other agents show pictures of rooms that are not necessarily the ones we get!!!

Great hotel.

Quiet area of Sheffield, but not far from the cathedral.
Got a warm welcome on arrival, staff were excellent.
Bit of a mix up with breakfast, but you can always tell a well run business by how they handle a problem, and they were brilliant.
If I'm being picky, cleanliness could be improved, but did not detract from an excellent stay, would definitely stay again when in Sheffield.

The Three Cranes is a great hotel with lovely big rooms. It is very clean and has everything you need for a weekend away. The staff are friendly and very helpful. It's in a central location, within walking distance from the train station and city centre. I would happily stay here again.

We had a fantastic stay at the Three Cranes Hotel. It's a lovely boutique hotel right in the centre of the city but in a quiet street. We stayed in a suite with separate kitchen and lounge areas and all was really hi-spec and very comfortable and clean. There is a great bar area too. The staff are really friendly and helpful and go the extra mile, even contacting us after we left to advise us we'd left something behind! We'll definitely be back if we visit Sheffield again.

Fantastic boutique hotel!

I loved my rooms (separate kitchen, lounge/diner, bedroom, en-suite) which were beautifully decorated and furnished, and very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the staff extremely friendly. Beats a room in a hotel chain any day!
