This place is a perfect location as it’s right at the trailhead. As a mountain biker who sleeps poorly while camping this is one of my fave places to stay when coming to ride in the area. It’s close enough to town to get a bite to eat, but far enough that it feels like the middle of nowhere. Big rooms, outdoor patios, and free home cooked breakfast keep me coming back every year.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, making it easy to truly relax.
The wooded property is absolutely beautiful. It was peaceful, quiet, and perfect for a nature-filled getaway. The complimentary breakfast was amazing and clearly made with care, a highlight of our morning. We also loved that the lodge is pet-friendly, which made traveling with our dog stress-free. Melissa was awesome! We would absolutely return and highly recommend Harmony Ridge Lodge to anyone visiting Nevada City.

Breakfast could be better. Never saw the manager. The soft boiled eggs only egg option were not soft boiled. Clear yokk still. Potatoes cold. No water dispenser. Called manager iI was told only eggs prepared on the weekend. Had to micrwave my eggs after figuring to where the toaster and microwave were behind the counter. I was handling things to the point another guest gave me their room because they thought I worked there. Helped others on what was going on.

We booked the top floor because it has that attic, Harry Potter feeling.

OMG! It is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The room is so beautiful. We felt like we were living in Harry Potter's house, minus where Harry really lived in.

Our only wish is that we can live in a place like this permanently.

Our kids loved it.

It really has that Precious Moments cottage feeling.

For me, it really reminded me of the hostel we stayed in Frankfurt, Germany and Britain.

The couple that are engaged and working there, are so friendly and welcoming. We will never forget their kind hospitality.

We'll be back here.

Paradise in the woods!!

The lodge is located in the forest! We enjoyed the trail right next to the highway that is easy and meanders through the woods! The breakfast is more than a continental one with hot eggs potatoes and sausage. My room was upstairs with sumptuous king bed but no TV. My other party had our dog in a pet friendly room with two queens. His room had jacuzzi tub; mine just had shower. Overall great property!!

There was everything to love about the property. We stayed during the week. It was SO peaceful. The grounds are beautiful, stunning! Many areas throughout the property to sit and relax, both inside and outside. The breakfast in the morning was freshly made and very tasty! A nice frittata, one veggie and one with meat, plus fresh fruit, quite yummy! There were only 4 of us, but they had conversation pits that could easily accommodate 8-12 people. The staff was so friendly and showed us everything. The room was large and well-appointed. We walked down to the only close restaurant and had dinner. The market closes at 8 pm If you need anything . We were there at the end of June 2025. The lake is only 0.3 miles away but we didn't go as we were here for only 1 day. We won't make that mistake again!

Antiquing trip with my daughter. Booked this as it is theoretically near Grass Valley or Nevada City. Not very close to either. Note: NO ELEVATOR OR TELEVISION. We didn’t stay for breakfast but heard it was good. Our key was taped to the front door when we arrived at 3:15pm. Lobby not open. We won’t stay again but a family or a wedding group might enjoy. There is a restaurant nearby but it is open Thursday thru Monday and you are out in the forest with no other restaurant. We arrived on a Tuesday unprepared. We had some snacks so we didn’t suffer. No landline in the room with which to communicate with the front desk. Very different place in a remote area next to Tahoe National Forest. Beware of bears - it is in the forest.

My wife and I needed a small getaway so we decided on harmony. When we arrived with my 3 month old daughter we were met by the host and her cute dog Milo they were very nice and she gave us the info we needed for our cabin. He loved seeing our baby. We really enjoyed our stay and my daughter loved the tall trees and bird noises we loved taking her around the grounds and had a restful great night. We will be back for Father’s Day hopefully

Pros: Spacious room, dog-friendly, lots of space to walk
Cons: Hard to find the check-in desk. The main building smelled of fish upon arrival - assumed the manager had used the kitchen which is right next to the front desk to cook fish. The lady checking us in did not understand how to use Hotels.com and then charged me for the room after I had paid for the booking online. I ended up being double charged (thankfully Hotels.com did refund me). Internet only worked in the main building. When we attempted to ask about internet in the room, we were just told the password again. We clearly explained that there was no connection, no internet service in the hotel room. Nothing would connect - phones nor a laptop. The lady did not believe us and was not helpful in resolving this. The lobby closed at 5pm and we did not get to sit by the fireplace or use the sitting area for the evening. The outer doors of the building slam shut, so anyone coming or going will cause the door to slam, regardless of the time of day. Supposedly a late check in client had arrived (we had not been given any warning that there was someone staying above us), and this person had a little dog. No dogs were to be in the upper floors we were told. This person, whom we believe was a friend or family member of the lady stayed upstairs, allowed her dog to bark for 15-30 minutes and continued to slam the outer door, well after midnight, woke us up. Breakfast was skimpy and food felt rationed. Needs update

The perfect getaway destination.

Such a lovely place. The grounds are gorgeous. From the minute you check in you are made to feel at home. The lodge is gorgeous and open to all guests to enjoy food, games and a warm fire. Our room was huge and very private. We cannot speak highly enough about the manager Faith who went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. She’s a gem, just like the lodge itself.

Liked the spacious king bed room (#3), comfortable bed, clean room, good AC, a balcony with trees around, and a shower better than most. (Recommend eat at The Northridge.) On the slight downside for us was there was no TV, only one coffee filter for reg and decaf coffee, and no ice bucket. There was no one in the office the entire time so no one to ask questions, but room keys clipped to office door.

We adored the property. Melissa, the Inn Keeper was so sweet. She showed us around the property. Let us know that we could walk into the office after hours if we needed ice, coffee etc. Having breakfast on the office deck was precious, and the home cooked meal was delicious. I am glad that we knew beforehand by reading a review, that some of the rooms do not have a tv, so it wasn't a shock to us. We didn't miss it at all. our room was large and beautifully decorated on the second level with two queen beds. We did have a small refrigerator and microwave. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would absolutely recommend a stay there, surrounded by woods and scenery on the property.

The room was clean and wide with view of the forest . The room was cold when we arrived, it would be nice to turn on the heat before we arrived , the bathroom was cold and there is no heater in it. The Desk open between 8 am to 5 pm and breakfast ( Sunday) was 8-10 am , without another option when one wants to start the day earlier .

We stayed at a quiet and beautiful place with very friendly staff who prepared a nice breakfast. Whenever some items ran out, they promptly cooked more.

It was our first time interacting with the staff, and the experience felt entirely different from staying at a big hotel. Even though the room didn't have a TV, we still liked it very much. Since it's not far from Lake Tahoe, we plan to stay here again during the ski season.

During our stay, we also had the pleasure of meeting a group of elderly people from Reno and the Bay Area who regularly meet at this lodge every year, with their next gathering scheduled for this August. They enjoyed hiking and chatting together, which further underscored the quality of this lodge.

Just got back from Harmony Lodge and I can say my family and I loved it. The place is in the woods but not too far from Nevada City if you need food or supplies. The place is quite peaceful and the lodge staff was quite friendly. Only slight ding is the walls seem to be a bit thin so you can hear your neighbor's making noise but it wasn't that big of a deal to us. Will definitely go back when it is warmer.

Our new home away from home

We came to attend the Cornish Christmas in Grass Valley and the Victorian Christmas in Nevada City, in our Victorian finery. The lodge is amazingly beautiful, like a chalet in Aspen, and just inside the Tahoe National Forest, so there are wooded walking/bike trails all over, including one right off the property. The guest rooms are surprisingly large and are stocked with books to read. I love that the shower has a hose for bathing ease. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They made us feel like family, and we enjoyed chatting with them in the living room while petting their kitties. The cook is excellent, and the breakfasts had a lot of variety. We love Nevada City, and visit every few months, so from now on we will consider Harmony Ridge Lodge our home away from home.

Cozy lodge, with cozy cats!

Very cozy and lovely little lodge. I was missing my cats, but the lodge has two very calm and friendly cats that purred for me and sat on my lap while I drank coffee by the fireplace! The room was large, comfortable, and very clean, the forest the place is in is quiet and beautiful, and the staff were wonderfully kind-hearted and genuine. The breakfast was excellent, with hard boiled eggs, belgian waffles topped with cut strawberries and blueberries, bacon, yogurt, fruit and orange juices, and cereal. Overall a very lovely and cozy experience, I highly recommend the Harmony Ridge Lodge!

This is my second experience with nobody at the check-in desk during a stay at low season, and an equally bad experience. Part of what I'm paying for when I stay in a hotel is front desk service, but it was just keys hanging on the office door and a brief note. There was no hot water (I waited over five minutes with it running), and the \"jetted tub\" was part of why I chose the place, but when I tried to call the phone number in the note, found out there was no cell service. So I went to sign on to the Wi-Fi specified in the note to find it didn't have internet. As a single woman traveling alone the whole experience felt very insecure (also no privacy lock on the door) and I ended up packing my stuff back up and driving home that night instead of staying over like I'd planned. Also, the lodge with fireplace wasn't available as it was part of the locked office.
I was very disappointed since yes, it was a nice big room with a nice view of the woods behind, very clean -- but also, what's with the super thin bedding in a place that gets quite cold at night? There was a cheap comforter in a cupboard but what's wrong with a nice duvet? I hate running the heater all night. So sorry, but thumbs-down for me on this experience.

Harmony Ridge Losge is the perfect get away place. The lodgenis charming, warm & homey & they have 2 resident cats. The room was large & comfy, looking out at the Tahoe National Forest. Closse to Grass Valley & Nevada City but far from the madning crowds. I highly recommend it & will go back!

BTW, there is WiFi but no TV. You have to talk ylto people which we did in the lodge at breakfast!

A fabulous place for a nice relaxing stay. Alone or with someone special. Owner was super accommodating and helpful.
I stayed with my search dog. They had a special room for me and my K9. We came in later, no problem! Nice spacious room. Fridge and Microwave. Big Bathroom even had towels for my K9 :). Nice touch! Very comfy bed. As a matter of fact, I will have to ask for the brand Mattress! :) Great breakfast, after a great night sleep!

Harmony lodge was very accommodating. Their 5 acres of land was breath taking and made my families trip amazing. Rooms were spacious and decorated with thought and care. As soon as my face hit their pillows, I was out. Most comfortable hotel bed that I’ve ever slept in. Loved the customer service and will for sure be booking a trip to Nevada city just to stay here again. Even book marking it for possible wedding venues for the future.

The place was nice, in a lovely setting, although if I go back, it will not be in the winter next time! There were snow flurries when we arrived, and the place was covered in snow the next morning. Thank goodness for the tireless work of the road crews, so we didn't have to stay for several more days. The rooms in our building have a very weird heating system that is rather finicky, and we couldn't figure out how to operate it. Our neighbor gave us his extra space heater. We called the front desk, and the nice lady came up and got the heater to work for us. I had hoped to explore the game room and other parts of the hotel, but we were in a rush to outrun the worst part of the winter storm.

Stay was great. Accommodations were nice and clean and the staff informative and inviting. We weren’t expecting snow ( our fault for not looking at weather). Had a nice warm breakfast and would love to come back and see the grounds under all of the snow. 😀
