-In a rather dubious part of Cape Town
-No parking on or in close proximity to hotel
-In other words, I got here in the dark and would have had to park a few streets away, in another garage and walk here!
-And it is really a bit “grubby”
-Strange TV options – one sport channel, a frozen e channel and Portuguese news!

Possibly my worst stay in Cape Town, EVER. There is no dedicated parking as advertised and you need to find parking in the road in front of the Hotel. The aircons does not blow cold air more like a fan and mine stopped working after a loud bang at about 2 in the morning. The beds base was broken on the one side where the base nearly touched the floor so kept rolling over to that side during the night. Hair stuck in the towels. On the second morning I went down for breakfast and was told that they are not doing breakfast as there’s not enough guests in the Hotel, someone was supposed to notify me of this the previous day, nobody did. Could not wait to get out of there.

Okay, first of all...

First of all, I booked for Cape Town hollow boutiquet Hotel because it came with a balcony room and a private swimming pool. On the Hotel.com website it shows no refunds when you reserve it. The next day got an email that the place that we booked is closed and they need to relocate the room to a different branche with no balcony and no pool. This was ridiculous because we had too accept the room regardless because I won't get my money back. They should remove the add from the app or website so that customers are aware what they getting instead they take your money and you have no choice but to settle. But they place they moved us too was okay and clean and chilled.

Pros: The property was clean and in the perfect location away from the noise of the bowl but right across from Company's Garden. Myciti bus only a few blocks away. The breakfast that was included was good with lots of choices.

Cons: First impressions are important. I was greeted by someone who not only did not smile but made me feel as if I was disturbing their day with a general attitude that was unfriendly and certainly not welcoming. I was tired, had a bad trip but walked in the door with a smile that was not returned.

The company that owns this hotel also owns some luxury safari experiences so I would assume that any of their hotels would be up to par and prepared for electrical outages. Last day, I walked out into the hallway into total darkness. I had already called a taxi so I made my way down the hallway to the stairs which I assumed would be fitted with portable battery powered lights that should have been placed in the stairwell by staff designated to take care of outages. I was struggling with three pieces of luggage from the fourth floor. I called down and no one answered. My phone was out so I had no light. I asked a family passing to please send someone to get me and my luggage. As the bellman came I handed him one piece of luggage and because of the darkness missed a step and fell down two stairs landing hard on my hands and knees. Unacceptable. Will NEVER return to this hotel.

Such amazing staff! My husbands luggage was not put on the flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town and the reception staff were simply wonderful in tracking it down for us and getting it flown and delivered to the Hotel the next night. Food was fabulous, great location for everything. We loved it.

Great stay at Cape Town Hollow! The location is very central to the CBD however it is easy and cost effective to uber around Cape Town if you do not want to walk.
The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were kind and courteous, and David from reception went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and accomodate our needs!

Amazing experience

My husband, my 2 adult daughters and I spent a week at the Cape Town Hollow Boutique Hotel and it was absolutely AMAZING. We had two adjacent rooms on the 8th floor, both with the exact same view of Table Mountain featured on their website. The rooms were spacious, the beds very comfy and the bathrooms small but very functional. The complementary breakfast buffet offered a wide range of choices that even satisfied my daughter's vegetarian life style. The staff was extremely nice and helpful and responded promptly to any question or request we had. They helped us organize tours, make dinner reservations and get transportation. The location is prime, next to the Company Garden, and almost all sightseeing within Cape Town could be done walking. I am not exaggerating when I say that we were truly sad to leave as we enjoyed this place so much!

This is a smaller hotel located across the street from the Company's Gardens. The rooms with a mountain view get some noise from the road below. Staff were helpful and friendly although staff in the restaurant were inattentive at times. Several excellent restaurants are within a 10 minute walk. Overall, a very good place to stay.

I had no hot water 4 for 5 days. And nobody explained the issue. The pool should not be considered an amenity. It looked like a murky pond.
I like the local art/jewelry/books in the lobby. Maybe Focus on it more as an art hotel! The food was quite good.
I think it is a good hotel in a convenient location. Good value - not glam. Service was polite but distant. Carlos was very helpful. !! I was provided a late check out to accommodate my departure time.

My room was nice - but the view was beautiful!!! and my bed was very comfortable !!so I decided to stay on. Need more filtered water in room. And any construction work should not start until after 11:30am.

Great place to stay!

S'bongile, Ntombi, waihede (the porter, I forgot how to spell his name, sorry!) and Carlos were very helpful in giving me information about the city. When there was a problem with my booking, Ntombi did not hesitate to let me use the phone at the reception to call my bank in Singapore to get it sorted out as soon as possible. Nicole was very helpful with my bookings of local tours. She even offered to go to the supermarket to get me something for the heatstroke I was suffering from after coming back from Aquila Game Reserve.

The view of the mountain was great. The room was very comfortable. To be honest, I expected better of the bathroom but that was okay.
The shuttle to and from the waterfront was much appreciated too.
I will not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends visiting Cape Town.

The Cape Town Hollow made my South Africa vacation! A smaller property than the larger international brands, but has a culture and level of customer service that is equal to, and in many ways superior to its contemporaries and competition. A clean and relaxing accommodation located in a quiet corner of the city which is within easy reach of many city attractions and services. Offering a restaurant, pool, small business centre, and top level concierge service; this property ensures any visitor an amazing experience. The staff is warm, attentive, knowledgable, and genuinely invested in making your stay a memorable one that will leave you dreaming of your next stay. The most notable thing about this property is their Concierge service, whose team can create and schedule a variety of tours based on your needs and schedule. I was blessed to see the real beauty and history of South Africa because of the care and knowledge of Norm and his team. A must stay for anyone visiting Cape Town! The stay was well located. The only thing that irritated my wife and myself was that they only made the bed in the morning. No paper or anything that may have been lying around was picked up. Also the shower had mound growing on the bottom of the shower floor in the corners, only one toilet roll given. In addition we were dumped so may times by Uber drivers S they could not find the hotel and seemed to land up on the other side of the Planetarium building

I miss South Africa so much and this hotel's staff did a great job in making my 6-day birthday trip memorable. The staff were all extremely friendly, generous and helpful. From the receptionist to the kitchen staff and the onsite driver...everyone was super hospitable. My room was perfect. Clean as I had expected. I'm not into noisy/busy hotels so this was a good choice for me. And as a solo traveler during this trip, I felt safe as ever. One of their security guards even offered to follow me/show me to the nearest Pizza Hut that was nearby to the hotel as it was a bit late when I suddenly became peckish right before midnight, haha. I was certainly appreciative of that. I had breakfast there almost every day and had my birthday dinner there (the ribs were amazing!). On one of my earlier morning tours, the staff willfully offered to prepare me a doggie bag filled with breakfast treats since I would have missed breakfast that morning. Seriously, everyone at this hotel went the extra mile. Best service ever. Best location ever. One of the best food experiences during my South African trip (Belthazar Restaurant at the Waterfront has amazing food also) and best exposure to how amazing the people are here. I would certainly stay here again, without a doubt! Sorry for the late review <3

Great Value and Location, Lovely Hotel

Loved the location, across the road from the Company's Gardens, which were lovely to walk in and sightsee. Was a short walk to the South African Museum and Art Gallery and into the centre of town where we caught the Hop On Hop Off Bus. We were upgraded and had a lovely view across the Gardens to Table Mountain. Beautiful. Our flight arrived mid morning and we were able to get into our room straight away which was very much appreciated after our long flight from Australia. The staff were very helpful and happy and we enjoyed our breakfast each morning. There was a free shuttle to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and we had to join our tour group there after our stay at the hotel. We didn't quite know where we were going and our driver kindly dropped us off right in front of our new hotel. Even while waiting for the shuttle, we were greeted and chatted to by a staff member. The décor was aesthetically pleasing and our room was very comfortable and clean.

Overall a good hotel for the price, convenient, excellent service.
Staff at the front desk were very helpful. Servers in the restaurant not always as alert as would be expected in a 4 star.
Bed was comfortable, room clean, but bathroom had signs of painted over discoloration all around the base of the wall, very limited shelf space, and both the toilet seat and sink faucet were loose. Large volume low pressure shower head hard to justify in the current water shortage. With some renovation it could be great.
Also light level in the room is too low for reading at night.
Be aware that 'city view' is not analogous to 'mountain view' shown on the website - we looked out at the building next door only.

Good hotel if you're in Capetown for the nightlife

This hotel is within a block of Long Street, which is the the main street with all of the cafes and bars and is the main night life of Capetown. It is far enough away that you don't hear it at night, but close enough to walk to easily. For this, it is a great location. Also centrally located that all tour companies will pick you from your hotel here. There was construction and banging going on in the hotel during the day which I was not told about in advance and it made it difficult to sleep-in while on vacation. The rooms themselves were large, clean, and most importantly comfortable. The hotel staff was a hit and miss. Some working during the day were so nice that it seemed there wasn't anything they wouldn't do to help make your stay the best, while others working the evening shift were less than helpful. The automatic doors for the entrance to not open unless dance a small jig back and forth a few times, which can be frustrating during the day, but downright dangerous at night as the street down from the hotel can be sketchy at the wee hours. This needs to be fixed or the security guard sitting on the inside of the doors needs to facing out more often. The taxi from the airport should be approximately 300 rand and a 20 to 30 minute ride.

All aspects of this hotel were excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly, the food was very good and excellent value and facilities very good. The room its self was excellent in every respect. The only complaint was the shower in the bathroom. The concrete base sloped into a drain in the center. The gap between the grill and base was impossible to clean and was a very murky colour. Standing and moving in the shower was difficult due to this strange design. This and this alone was not in keeping with an otherwise excellent hotel.

The food at the restaurant was one one of the best meals during our week long trip to South Africa. Accommodating staff and comfortable room made our stay very enjoyable. Thin windows made the room a little noisy from the street traffic but this wasnt a problem later in the night.

Nice hotel in nice location very good staff only problem was the very poor wifi which varied between very slow and not working.

My second home for a week thanks to everyone that works there. Staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The days we couldn’t because of work or decided not to leave we were definitely not disappointed by eating at Eighty Ate. Thanks again guys for everything!

Sweet spot!

I definitely recommend getting a room with a view! It was amazing, with beautiful windows and sunrise views. The hotel is centrally located and easy to walk to shops, restaurants on Bree and Long streets. And they offer a shuttle to the V&A waterfront. Easy pay parking nearby for R85 per day. And the breakfast is included and so worth it!

Lovely hotel with excellent location

Really lovely, comfortable hotel in an excellent location in the centre of the city. Very easy to get to all attractions. Lovely staff too. Would definitely recommend.

A great break

Great holiday venue. Hotel had courtesy bus to and from the Waterfront and easy access to taxis as well.Staff could not have done more to help us. Everyone was friendly and polite. We asked for a room with Table Mountain view and it was well worth the extra cost to wake up and see that incredible aspect every day. Restaurant was excellent and we ate in /dined out 50 -50 during our stay. Breakfast had a good time span to allow for early starts on late nights. We would certainly stay there again .

Lovely stay. Easy to walk around to Long Street, Bree Street and there is a free bus to the V&A Waterfront.
