Stayed there the last day of my stay in Zanzibar and I’m never going back.. management need to up their game. No urgency, Poor reception, rooms too outdated, plugs need to be changed to multi sockets, water takes forever to warm up somehow, food average!! I really didn’t enjoy the 15 hours I spent there!

I was disappointed with my stay. I requested a late check-out for 2 PM, but the hotel charged me $40 for this, which felt unreasonable. The location is also far from the city center (about a 30-minute taxi ride, which is expensive) and the surrounding area feels unsafe and poorly lit.

The breakfast was very disappointing – unhealthy options with limited choices. The balcony door in my room was weak and seemed easy to break open, which made me feel insecure. Additionally, the staff provided incorrect information during my stay, which caused confusion.

Overall, the experience was not worth the cost, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Pool is utilised as a leisure centre for locals. No hot water, toilet and telephone to reception didn’t work. Balcony doors would not lock. Food was average.

We did enjoy the quite of the resort and staff. Anthony and his team in hospitality where excellent for what they had to work with. The Chef and Anthony created a wonderful meal for us on the waterfront viewing the sunset. Magnificent! The waterfront suites where comfortable and rustic island style. We had a nice rest. Thank you.

We were a bit sceptical about the resort at first due to previous reviews. However it was a great 10 day stay for us. The food was lovely, couldn’t get enough of the prawns. The room with the sea view was amazing.
The staff were great, thank you Maria you made our stay very comfortable.
If you need some where close to the airport and 5min away from Stone town then I recommend Zanzibar beach resort.

Resort has alot of potential but needs upgrades. Water pressure was low and breakfast was not good for 30,000 TSH.

Resturant options was limited, but the grill prawns was good. Staff was friendly and very helpful.

Warning- Do not book here! Forfiet your money if you already paid. This place will destroy your vacation mood. It is under new managemrent from India who refused to take the calls from expedia to discuss my refund so I had to take 3 calls from Expedia saying he would not answer the phone. Should be closed during construction and possibly condemed. You arrive to the entire lobby fenced off with mesh the entire floor is gone. You walk over a bridge water feature but no water is on it. The water fountain going to restaurant is cracked with no water. The pool is merky and with the red light at night looks OMINOUS! WE WERE BITTEN BaDLY BY BEDBIGS! There are muddy trenches dung all over the lawn. The day bed was filthy. They locked beach access because they said it is dangerous. The website implies there is beach access. The water has local fisherman and looks very commercial and looks uninviting.

Old hotel and not worth the stay for $60-80 per night. The property is very old and not maintained well, most people complain about hygiene.
My wife had a conference for her office at this place and out of 15 people 3 got food poisoning.

We booked a hotel with full board, but we haven't spent much time there because we've been on day trips. The staff is incredibly pleasant, the hotel is spotless, and the food is great. However, the meal service was quite slow. We waited nearly an hour for a meal.

The place is terrible, poorly mentioned, no pressure in the shower and first day there was no hot shower. The lock on the door was not working. Too many mosquitoes and every evening the house keeping goes around the rooms spraying this terrible mosquito repellent that’s not safe to humans to inhale.

I’m the garden area there is a fish pound that is super gross, so green so dirty.

My whole stay in Zanzibar was appalling. Airport staff have no respect for tourists or customer relations. Hotel stuff, the same. A few of them were kind and professional. I wouldn't advise anyone to visit.

This was the worst experience since I've been using Hotel.com. I tried to be accommodating to the hotel management but after two days I could not. Couldn't see TV for at lease 4orfive days, always someone is going to adjust the picture. I couldn't take a shower for two days. I could not shower on my final day. The swimming pool was extremely filthy. No sandy beach as shown in the picture. The buildings were not painted all mossy and mildew spores had not been painted in years, The so call fitness Room was lock with a pad lock and had to have security no windows and no airconditioning had to keep door open. Driiver late got soaken wet from the tour. Computer did not work.

We were upgraded to a lovely room by the huge pool, ably managed by Richard, the recreation manager who is an excellent , friendly person. All staff were really nice. It is a short and cheap taxi ride either to Stonetown or the airport and a good place tor relax after your safari. Thanks to GM Rajesh Roy for his kind assistance. Mike and Ian , Coogee Beach, Sydney.

After some unpleasant issues with resort to start Mr. Sanyal who was hotel manager tried efforts to fix my accommodations to what i payed for. Property is pretty but needs some upgrades. There is no actual beach to lounge at but beautiful views at least. I believe if they would invest on clearing out and cleaning the area front of the beach area some guest would still swim at high tide. There is no pool bar, which was upsetting because i had to keep going into bar at the lobby to order drinks, which took about 20 minutes to get one drink. The staff are very pleasant but the timing for orders were a bit much for such a big hotel. At some points id go to the bar and order 3 drinks at once with ice on the side just so i wouldn't have to wait 20-30min for drinks. The menu could be worked on a bit. The same things every morning for breakfast was a bit tiresome and only one menu for lunch and dinner. Not much variety. At the restaurant at times i would have to get my own salt and pepper and find ketchup. I do hope they work on these issues because the resort does have a lot of potential.

Not being able to access the beach side of the property was not good.

The massage parlour service was expensive yet i feel the need for improvement in quality of service offered.

I was also charged extra on breakfast after the website booking clearly highlighted the break fast benefit during my online booking.

we first booked an hotel in the south of the Island so my husband could do his diving. This was the biggest mistake as the hotel La Madru.... was terrible. We then changed for the last two days of our stay in Zanzibar to this hotel, which was like the total opposite of what we were getting before. It was apleasure to go to sleep at night in clean bedding and on a comfortable mattress. The staff was great and thanks to Sanyal and Omar, they really spoilt us.

Beautiful resort near the airport

The Zanzibar Beach resort is a beautiful resort near the airport. The grounds and the pool are beautiful and the room is very nice. The balcony overlooking the ocean was especially nice. My room was having issues with the AC and the mattress was old and uncomfortable but my stay was too short for me to try and address those problems before I checked out. I can’t speak for the condition of any other room, but the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my stay so I’m sure they would have addressed my issues if I had raised them. If you are looking for a mid price quiet beautiful hotel near the airport, this would be a good choice.

This property was beautiful and the staff were so nice and helpful. The little chalets are worth the extra money. The pool is beautiful but not open late. This is a quiet little resort and I would definitely return with my family!

The property is located along a stretch of coastline which makes for beautiful sunrises and sunsets daily. There is some debris on the beach but nothing too bad. The resort staff is phenomenal and the private beachfront “villas” are perfect for a quiet retreat. The pool is an excellent way to spend some time under the hot sun or to allow your children to play with others. The food quality is very good and the menu changes daily so you won’t be disappointed yes.

Beautiful place. Our only issue was that the shower was not working properly, no hot water or water pressure. We called the reception desk early in the morning to tell them since we needed to take a shower before we went to the airport but no one came to fixed our problem. We ended up leaving before anyone came to fixed it since we had an 8:30am flight.

This resort was so amazing, the staff was the best I have ever had the pleasure meeting. They don't hesitate to help in any way possible. So very happy and amazing. The resort is very well maintained and so very beautiful. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. The air condition in the rooms was perfect. We didn't use wifi but it was available in the room. Everything you need is just a short walk away from your room. They keep this place looking so beautiful. You will enjoy each and every walk. The pool at night looks amazing with the color changing LED bulbs. They even had a DJ come and play music while we enjoyed the pool. You wont find a better staff anywhere else.

This hotel was not even a 1*, there was lizards in my bathroom and bedroom almost daily. Their was no hot water for the 3 nights I stayed. I let the front desk know and each day they said they were going to fix it but nothing happened. The water pressure was low and the shower head did not work so it was like me having to bathe out of the sink where I wash my hands.

The wait staff and bar was amazing sweet people but it is a shame that they are not appreciated and cared for. Management needs to pay them more for their excellence customer service.

I was double charged for my dinner and the hotel refused to reverse the credit card charge. I will never return to this hotel and I highly recommend no one stay here. It is not worth the time and money.

A bad experience

We arrived at 5 o’clock and our room was still not ready. After checking in we found the room at the terrible condition. There was only one towel for 3 guests, the toilet was dirty and the safe was broken. I asked the manager to fix it, and when we returned at 10pm nothing had changed. The maid came and cleaned the toilet after several and repeared requests. Towels were finally given at 11pm. The beach is not suitable for swimming while the swimming pool was very dirty if not dangerously poluted. I will post few photos along with my review so that potential guests of this hotel can see what they should expect for the money they will pay.

Truly awful.

If anyone is looking for a beach holiday in Zanzibar, please avoid this place. In fact, Hotels.com should de-list it as it will damage their reputation. Thank God I only booked three days!

Main points:

I had to change rooms after complaining on check-in to Hotels.com.

The \"beach\" is a stony, muddy, filthy, strip of sand with old tyres and fishermen's detritus that no-one would use for swimming or sunbathing.

On checkout, they delayed me because they said they hadn't received money from Hotels.com. I had to show them confirmation email that I had prepaid. They reluctantly accepted this and let me leave.

TV in room didn't work - couldn't watch the football programmes available in bar area, just a few fuzzy local channels.

Hotel wifi useless.

Safe in both rooms I used didn't work.

Room security poor - doors to balcony did not lock properly. Lock on front door of first room so flimsy, it could have been easily broken into.

Gym not in use - receptionist said \"it's not very nice\". Say no more.

When I asked to use \"free area shuttle\" I was told I would have to pay - I had to argue every time and get manager's special permission, although it shows it on website.

Breakfast a joke. Toaster broken, egg cook clueless.... Good place to lose weight!

View from my \"Garden View Room\" was the hotel car park and an old electrical panel.

Basin in bathroom dotted with hardened green matter from previous occupants. Yuk!

I was very disappointed with this hotel(and I do not get disappointed easily). I was the only one. There were many people who were complaining. It was supposed to be a resort hotel, but the condition of the hotel was very poor. The main issue is the service. The people at the front desk do not seem to have any idea what customer services means. They do not pay attention when you talk to them and are not helpful at all. There were three problems in my room: dusty floor, no hot water, and tv not working. I reported to the front desk and nothing happened while I was there for four more days . They were changing ACs while people were in the rooms. People found debris and dust when they got back to their rooms. In my case, they moved me after repeated complaint, but the new room was cleaned properly after they installed the new AC. The wifi was also very weak. This could be a great place if it were managed properly.
