Its only good.for its location and thats it.
I dont understand how its a 4 star.
The place is badly run with what appears almost to be student's and its a Marriot. The whole place needs a refurb. The icing on the cake was the draggjng of the heavy furniture for 2 nights out of our 3. The noise disruption was so bad and kept us awake. We can only assume as we were on the 4th floor and the 5th floor has the restaurant come bar it was that. But that closes at 10pm and the nois for the 2 nights continued to 4am. Not constant but loud crashes. Plus the house keeping staff shout early morning and bang the doors too. So if you want any sleep you wont get it. Aircon also does nt work properly

Excellent location and overall great service. A few things can be improved given the price.
- Breakfast is very bland and could use improvement—fresher breads (ideally baked daily), ripe fruit (two days I was there, the fruit served wasn't ripe), better training of the chef who makes omelets; they were often overcooked; have an option for adding cheese to the omelets which wasn't available. For $17, the breakfast was wanting.
- The room was musty, likely related to the high humidity environment and the fact that they don't keep AC throughout. Investing in baseline AC could improve this.
- Attention to detail in the room service, e.g, shampoo ran out and I had to ask for it despite daily service.
Otherwise excellent hotel.

Good location and affordable in comparison to other hotels nearby. Staff initially put us into a room which had a strong smell, and then moved us to another room promptly once we raised the issue. This happened once again, but they were still accommodating and gave us a room which was fit for purpose.

The room was dingy, it was dark. The bathroom had grout stains on the floor. It felt very dirty. I was surprised it was a marriott. It felt like a motel. The bed was not comfortable. The concierge was not helpful. We asked for restaurant suggestions, they couldnt give us any recommendations. We requested to arrange for a boat tour to the neighboring island, they couldnt arrange it for us. Instead, gave us a number and told us to do it. Never had that experience from any hotel in the past.
The lobby was so hot! No AC, and they told me they switched it off because the employee was feeling cold.

Everything worked as expected from “central air conditioning”, WiFi, elevator, TV with major news channels and in-house restaurant with room service. I was thoroughly impressed and this is my new “Go To” hotel while visiting Zanzibar.

Nice place to stay, however u can hear the noise from the hallway n next door. I wish they had grab bars near the toilet seat which is quite low. Older people with arthritic knees like me would have problem rising from the seat. Other than that the hotel is very pleasant.

The Spice Tree was fantastic. It was clean and well located and we had the best night's sleep we had in Africa in our stay here. The room was air conditioned and the shower was awesome. Sometimes it's the small things. The breakfast was also incredible and included. If I were ever to visit Stone Town again, I'd stay here for sure.

This a quaint hotel with a rooftop restaurant. The breakfast buffet is suberb. However, the ala cart dining is terrible. The service is slow, and the chef should not be preparing dishes he is not familiar with: the mezzo platte had hummus that didn’t taste like hummus and baba ghannoush that was bland and terrible. My stir fired chicken arrived after one hour, the chicken pieces were so dry you could have used as sling shot projectiles, the it was drenched in soy spice which was the only thing you could taste. My brother ordered lamb chops, but got fatty lamb shank ! I would fire the chef!

It was walking distance to great restaurants, shops and many historic attractions. Otherwise it was a place to sleep. Breakfast buffet left much to be desired. I ordered breakfast to my room after the first day. They brought enough food for 2 or 3 people no matter what I ordered. Only on the last day did they ask me what I wanted specifically. The bedding left much to be desired. I didn't sleep well because the sheets felt sandy even though I never went to the beach. I wouldn't stay there again.

Abubaker is the man!!!

Abubakar the front desk assist manager really made our stay worth the stay! After the new we received when we arrived and had to be moved to a nearby hotel, was shocking due to the day prior the email my wife received to check-in. However thing were great and would recommend this hotel!

Great choice after two days of flying. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet. There were a lot of fresh fruits, fruit juices, and local coffee. The hot selections were ok .The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spotless. The rooms are small and a bit crowded. Small shower. Used this hotel for my first night in Zanzibar. A nice hotel if you want to explore all the nice sites in the old town. Close to the beach and the old fort. I loved the breakfast at the top floor with a good view of the town. Good service.

Overall, my stay was enjoyable because of the friendliness of the staff, quality of the cuisine as well as the comfort and cleanliness of the room. I was disappointed in the gym which just seems substandard. In this day and age where health and wellness is important a hotel needs to do more than just throw a few pieces of equipment in a small, empty space. Another concern is the front entrance. How does the hotel accommodate people with limited mobility?

Location, location, location! This hotel is a gem and is situated in Stone Town, so it’s very convenient if you don’t have to worry about driving and/or parking. Taxi from the airport $20 for 4 adults with luggage. Wonderful buffet breakfast and served dinner. Not on the beach, but a very easy and short walk to the beach. All four of us love it. We have all been treated very well in every encounter with staff. Would happily return and wholeheartedly recommend.

I never liked going for breakfast because someone it just always put me on the wrong start. I went twice and on the first day I had ordered crepes from the station and it never came (after more than 30mins) I reminded the lady but it still didn’t come so at the end of the day before I left I told her not to worry. the second time I had come for breakfast after a while I was asked to sign a check because thought i didn’t pay for breakfast so they made me wait so she could confirm which was also a little bit irritating. the hotel was just okay nothing extra special

This was my first trip to Zanzibar. So, I didn't know what to expect. But, i was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly. The room and hotel was as advertised. The room was a bit smaller. But it was comfortable and clean. Great little bathroom. As an American, I was confused by the hose next to the toilet. I know what its for, but it's not for me. Lol. The rooftop restaurant was great. Breakfast was included. The veiw is amazing. I will say this... I didn't feel as if i were in Africa. But, i can say that about Zanzibar as a whole. Heavy Indian and Arabic influence.

Someone urinated in the Bed + 5 showers after

Room 101. Finally located the smell at midnight. Urine soaked mattress. Theygave us a new room. As we were leaving the next morning the maids we just putting new sheets on the bed! I expected more from Hilton, even in Africa.

Nice property within Hilton standards. Nice size rooms, professional staff, 24 hr room service available. Bed was comfortable and linen was clean although no small facial cloths. A/C worked well, but no pool, but with beach within 4 minutes walking distance it was not a big issue. Overall good value for your money.

This property is essentially located in an alley in stone town. It is very difficult to maneuver to the front door. When we finally got to the front door and tried to check in I was told that there was no reservation on the system. I called orbitz who told me the reservation was valid and should be active in the hotel system. Upon further review it was determined that the hotel canceled my reservation without notifying me or orbitz and without processing a refund. Management at this hotel is horrible.

The hotel is nice! The AC worked well, the WIFI was OK, but not great, the dinner was delicious! The workers were very nice and they went above and beyond! The only I didn’t like was that I paid for a breakfast buffet, but during the two mornings, it was served a la Carte and it was kinda slow. Other than that. I highly recommend it and if I come back to Zanzibar, I will stay there again.

It is a very nice hotel in a great location. The staff were very friendly. The only major downside was the room we were given, room 009 was awful, a room right next to the service elevator, the staff cleaning closet on one side then out the window was the walking street and where the staff all sat and relaxed. There was no peace from either side. I was told the hotel was full so could not change. Not happy

The staff & property were first rate we all felt relaxed & well cared for, rooms restaurant & who hotel were perfectly clean and secure. The chef Alex prepared brilliant meals and we ate in for each meal as we knew our holiday would not be interrupted with illness as the food was spot on and we had the best service from Yolanda in the restaurant who had great English and fantastic happy smiling service. The hotel is central located to all there is to see and do in and around Stone Town great location. Overall we will stay again and highly recommend Double Tree by Hilton Zanzibar Stone a Town

Incredible Restaurant and Location

This hotel has the best restaurant/food. Special thanks to Chef Alex and his team (excellent service) for making our anniversary so special. This was our favorite place to eat out of the 5 cities we stayed in.

In addition to the food, the location is fantastic. It is nestled amongst the small, narrow streets. The hotel is super clean with great staff.

Stone Town is such a charming and intriguing city.
