Staff were very helpful, pleasant & welcoming. The hotel is next to YuYuan garden, lovely area with lights in the evening, lots of shops nearby for meals & other shopping. Central convenient location for other sights.
The hotel is very clean, our stay of 2 nights was pleasant & comfortable. Robot delivered coffee pods for the keurig coffee machine when we ran out. I would definitely return to stay on our next visit to Shanghai.

We will definitely booked this hotel next time. It’s in the center of everything. People were nice and helpful. Room was outstandingly very excellent complete with awesome views, clean, and usable with an office desk section. The only thing that’s difficult was using the TV since we can’t understand or read Chinese and we just gave up using television whenever we’re in the room. But we really didn’t felt a need for TV anyways. The proximity to the Bund was a plus since I make it a point to wake up early and do my exercise. The conscience folks were extra helpful as well and the on site restaurant was so awesome to allow us to heat our extra food we stored in the room mini refrigerator. The price charged to us was well worth it. Why opt for 5 star hotel if this one measured up with them? It’s a place to book folks!!! 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠

Great property with amazing staff and only a short walk from Yu Garden as it is just around the corner from the hotel. The room we were in was perfect in size and had a nice view of the Shanghai skyline. Highly recommended.

As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite member, this was by far the worst Marriott property I’ve stayed at. The marketing is completely misleading — the website shows stunning views of the Bund, but even after paying extra for a “view,” we only got a side view where you could barely see one of the towers unless you were pressed up against the window.

The staff were not friendly and their English was limited, which made communication frustrating. The hotel feels very dated — bright walls and worn carpets give it a tired look, and the room itself was just average. Charging extra for bottled water in-room is disappointing, especially for a Marriott.

The lifts take forever, so be prepared to wait just to get to your floor. The pool also looked old and uninviting — it didn’t look clean, so we decided not to use it. The breakfast was overcrowded and the food quality was very poor.

The only real positive is the decent location, but that’s about it. I definitely expected much better from a Marriott property. Would not recommend staying here when visiting Shanghai.

I had a fantastic stay at the Renaissance Yu Garden. The location is unbeatable—just a block from the metro and a short walk to the Old Town and Yu Garden. The service was excellent, the room spotless and spacious, with a large bathroom and super comfortable beds.

The highlight was the astonishing view of the Pudong skyline from my 12th-floor room. The breakfast menu was varied and delicious, the perfect way to start each day. Highly recommended for both leisure and business stays.

This hotel has a very special place in our heart. Especially, I made a mistake by double-booking the room, and the service manager helped me solve the problem within 24 hours by coordinating with Expedia HK.

Overall a very satisfying stay. Very convenient location to everything and a subway station close by. Breakfast was good with variety of options. Front office staff was very helpful and even packed a breakfast on the day we were leaving as we had a very early train journey. Room was cleaned very well and cleaner did an excellent job. Only negative was the room view as we were not on a high enough floor to get a good view. We could only see the street and building next to us.

The Yu Garden is right behind the hotel with the night market and restaurants. Less than 10 min walk. Also within 10 min drive for all the luxury shopping locations. I love that the hotel was located in a prime location not far from the bund or yu garden. It sits on lines 10 and 14 so it makes it easy to access the rest of the city. I love that the staff was friendly very helpful. The hotel was very clean. The restaurant was nice. The views were pretty good as well. The layout of the room and bathroom was nice and very clean the decor throughout the hotel was beautiful and I love the small features such as the chandeliers. I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Wr stayed at Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden around the end of May, 2025 for about a week. The room was big enough for us a family of 4, including two adults and two pre-teenage kids with 2 queen size beds and one standard bed. The housekeeping was excellent as they cleaned the room and changed the towels daily. The staffs were very friendly and always willing to help if you have any questions.Transportation was very convenient with metro lines 10 and 14 within couple minutes walking distance. We were in Shanghai for family vacation and chose this hotel due to its location and proximity to major tourist attractions in Shanghai. The overall experience has been amazing and we will happily choose to stay at Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden when we come to Shanghai next time.

I've stayed here four times. Each time staff, service, room comfort and cleanliness was consistent. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious. The beds,, pillows and bed linens are top notch making for pleasant rest. The housekeeping, front desk, bell hop and concierge staff were always available, reliable and extremely accommodating. We used their luggage storage services, and it was so convenient as we used this hotel as a home base when traveling to Tongli and Vietnam. Overall, fantastic experience and highly recommend.

We were told the roof bar was closed during our stay quiet disappointing, this was the reason I booked this hotel because of the night view from the roof top.

The location of this property is fantastic. It is near shops, restaurants, walking distance to Yu Gardens, Nanjing Road and an easy taxi to all the other areas.

The entire staff was absolutely wonderful and professional! We had a seamless check-in and check out. The bell service and concierge helped us with ordering taxis and storing our luggage. Breakfast buffet staff were friendly and accommodating. We used the pool one evening, and again, staff was very nice. Our room #719 had the perfect view of the tops of Yu Gardens and the lights of some of The Bund buildings! Housekeeping was very thorough and attentive, always replenish water bottle and towel. They checked in with us regularly to see if we needed anything including laundry service.

We even experienced a mishap where we accidentally left credit cards in the taxi on our way to the airport. We called the hotel and worked specifically with Zoey Hu at the front desk who was able to recover the credit cards from the taxi driver. What would have been a very stressful situation, Zoey Hu went well above and beyond to save our day. Top notch service!! Thank you, Zoey Hu!!!!

I've stayed at this hotel in 2019 and I'm so glad that we chose to stay here again.

This property is average, a bit old some rust on the doors of the washrooms. The room they gave us is over looking a construction site. It was difficult to speak with receptionists and costumer service as they barely speaks English. Wifi is poor and not allowed to browse foreign sites like fb, Netflix and YouTube.
Food is okay nothing special. Another thing that I don’t like about this place is the very strong scent of air freshener in the lobby and ground floor which triggers my allergies.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. Unfortunately, my stay started off on a disappointing note—the check-in agent failed to notify me when my room was ready, which caused some unnecessary waiting and confusion. Additionally, I booked a city view room on the 9th floor expecting a nice view, but was disappointed to find it overlooked an abandoned piece of land.

On a more positive note, the concierge service was excellent—knowledgeable, attentive, and truly helpful throughout my stay. The breakfast buffet was also a highlight, offering a great variety of fresh and tasty options to start the day right.

Overall, while there were some letdowns, certain aspects of the service helped redeem the experience.

Great room but much to improve.

The room is spacious and clean, the service is great, but there's much to improve... unlike other hotels in China, they doesnt have robot delivering food delivery, you have to go down and collect. Also, no self laundry room which is important for family travel. Unlikely to return again.
