Great experience. Excellent location, clean, friendly staff. We stayed for a week and had breakfast. Breakfast had buffet and menu included. Quality of food was great but for one week and no change in menu was boring. They said they change the menu every 2 weeks and in my opinion that’s too long for same many. I recommend this hotel and would stay there again if I visit Shanghai again.

We've got around 2:30pm and our 2nrooms were not ready aound 7pm.
There were around 10 others who also waiting for their room.
One of tge 2 rooms wasn't the one we booked. We booked a 2 twin beds and they gave one king bed room to us had to wait another hour and the room service came and split the king out to 2 twins. So the original king bed was a 2 twin beds put together.
The room were dirty and small. Carpet was very old.
All the bathrooms fixtures were old and outdated.
Room service is terrible. Not vacuum during our entire stay eventhough we only request to have room service once every two day.

We were sold by the front picture of the hotel when we booked and it is a total disappointed.

The hotel front and the location are good.
The rest are a one star hotel.

The hotel is in great location. But other than location, not much reaching Ascott general standards at all. Front desk can’t speak / understand English. Room is carpet with hairs. The bathtub is so tiring and you won’t take a bath at all. Gym is 24 hours which is great. The swimming pool needs someone to escort you to visit and they force you to buy a swimming cap which is not stated in any part of the reservation requirement. I won’t be choosing this one in the future for sure.

The stay is fine. The staff is not as helpful as expected, e.g. seldom able to answer questions effectively and correctly. There is one exception though, whose name is Ethan Chen. Ethan is very professional and friendly. Once hearing my complaint about iPhone charging in my room, he immediately act to quickly resolve the issue. Definitely a special thank to him.

The apartment is excellently located and has easy access to everything you need shopping-wise. However, the property, other than its facade, is really dated. The hallway has a smell and the furniture is really worn. The facilities are in working condition but nothing close to the value of what you have paid for. I chose it because it’s a serviced apartment and the cleaning staff go out of their way to keep it clean, but all the amenities are just so in need an upgrade that there’s not much additional cleaning can do.

Stay with Ascott Huai Hai

We stayed at Ascott Huai Hai Road for 5 nights and it was 1 of the best so far, for the amount that we paid for. Service has been top notch from the moment we stepped in.
We had to change rooms once as the room below us had a burst pipe, we appreciate that they personally informed us of the issue, and managed to find us a similar room 2 floors down almost immediately.

We had left behind my daughter's camera upon checkout and only realised it late that night. When I messaged the hotel via this app, I got an immediate reply from Ethan Chen. I still preferred to talk over the phone and managed to get through, afterwhich he offered to send the lost and found item via package delivery to our new hotel within a day. I offered to pay for the delivery service, but they waived it and said it was their job. Really touched by their actions and it is not something that we take for granted. We will reocmmend this hotel to friends and family who visit Shanghai in future!!

We love to stay here and want to make it our designated stay next time in Shanghai. Breakfast is just okay, services aren’t great as the front desk lady treats us suspiciously, after swapped our key and had us signed, a few minutes later she followed us to the table, interrupted our breakfast to ask us show who we are again. Other than that, overall experience is very nice. Clean, spacious, excellent etc.

This was your grandmother's 4-star hotel...

Very dated hotel that charges 4-star prices based on location and room size more than condition or upkeep. There are newer cheaper options in Shanghai that provide a better experience in my opinion. The hotel really has no areas for sitting and working with a laptop, and the patio seen in photos is part of a 2nd party restaurant that isn't part of the hotel and only accessible by a separate elevator and requires purchase to access. I had to move to a new room upon check-in due to broken door locks and bathroom fixtures falling out of the wall. My second room had a broken TV and needed a repairman to replace the cables in the back to receive a signal. I wasted several hours of my first day just settling into an acceptable room. In general, I wouldn't have been as disappointed if the price I paid was in-line with other hotels that have not been maintained and fallen to a similar level. The staff, however, were all friendly and extremely accommodating.

Ok as a hotel, it's alright. Very spacious rooms (more like an apartment), good comfort and alright location. I actually feel bad leaving a terrible review for their service since most of the staff had been friendly and helpful.

The thing is, I was almost SCAMMED BY THE HOTEL BELLBOY. During checkout, the bellboy (more like middle aged mainlander thug) offered to order a cab for us. Being a four star hotel (five they claim), I did not expect any issues. However, after ordering the cab on wechat, he asked for 40 yuan, while I took a regular cab the other day for 16 yuan for the same distance.

Another (legit) cab had came in and saw the situation, warning me of the scam. This escalated quicky with the bellboy yelling at the driver and forcing to drag him out of his car. At this point I had left already, but looking back, the so called \"taxi\" that was ordered for me had arrived and it was a black dodgy looking van. Goodbye!!

The hotel is great if you need to be around Xintiandi. The rooms are large and useful. However the cleanliness of the showers is suspect. The management need to be bleached to get rid of the mold and to do some minor maintenance to the rooms.

This hotel is in a fantastic location surrounded by plenty of restaurants, shopping centres and designer branded shops. The restaurant is great with a decent variety of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The ammenities were good too.
The Ascott is in need of a complete renovation. The rooms were tired and runned down-stained carpets, wall paper falling down, mould in bathroom and the bath towels had holes/shredded.
For the price you pay you would expect the quality of the hotel to be well maintained.

We enjoyed our stay at Ascott Huai Hai Road. Great location-right across the street from the metro and shopping centers. Good restaurants close by. If you have an extended stay in Shanghai, it's helpful that the one-bedroom serviced apartments have a full kitchen & washer/dryer. The Wi-Fi was fast. The staff and service at check-in and breakfast were also very courteous.

This is my third time staying in ascott, Huaihai hai lu and I always go in November , my wife especially like the ambience at night , street lighting up and the merry making mood , hotel staffs are very attentive including the uncles who pick up your luggages plus it’s near xintaindi , eating place , drinking place aplenty and its safe, with the police patrolling every now and then . It’s a great and enjoyable stay for me and my wife

It's one of the best values you can get in Xintiandi. This is a serviced apartment hotel, which is nice if you want the space of an apartment. For longer stays, it's more convenient to have a refrigerator, washing machine and separate living room. The bar/restaurant at the top is very nice and the gym is a great facility. I wish the pool was longer (it's probably 10-12 meters). Great location and the value for it is hard to beat.

Don't be fooled by the photos

We thought this was an apartment hotel, with residence suites. In fact its just a basic hotel room. There is no separate area for sitting or eating, the photos are misleading. For what you get, its not good value. There is construction noise going on all around the hotel, so there is noise 24/7. The rooms are hot, and there's no way to turn the heating down. If you ask, the hotel will come and unlock the window so you can open it, but the pollution and noise make that unfeasible. They gave us ONE breakfast ticket for each day which was a bit misleading. There are 2 people in a double room but only ONE breakfast ticket. So the other person has to buy a breakfast ticket! The breakfast itself is absolute garbage and not worth purchasing - terrible coffee, lipton tea (yes, in China!) and vegetable salad. Definitely not worth paying for. The beds are hard and bouncy, so when one person moves, the whole bed shakes. If you are just one person it's probably fine. The room does have a fridge, stovetop, dishes and cutlery and a washer for your clothes (but nowhere to hang them!). Laundry soap, dish soap and tea towels are provided. The hotel staff are hopeless in terms of helping with directions, advice etc. They speak English but as is typical in China, there seems to be no customer service skills, training or basic empathy. They avoid problem solving.

The location is fantastic, right in the center if the action and a short walk to many key attractions. The checkin staff try their best - but overall the hotel is very rundown and feels tired.
The rooms are comfortable, but the bathroom and kitchen area have dirty tiles and broken tap fittings etc. Still again, the rooms are comfortable.

Its an ideal location for walking around looking in stores, its also very easy to jump on the subway and get around, but taxi 's don't stop here and the staff are not so helpful in helping you grab a cab.

The breakfast area is the most disappointing. The food is very limited and the restaurant closes at 10am sharp. I even had plates removed from my table as I was still eating. The staff are desperate to get the area clean by 10.00am for lunch time patrons.

The internet is painfully slow.

Excellent alternative to hotels

The Ascott is far better than the majority of shanghai hotels. It has an excellent location and the apartment rooms are very well equipped. Staff are keen to help although their English can be a little limited. Another member of staff on the front desk would be good idea during the day. Otherwise no complaints and extremely good value.

prime location, poor service from restaurant

My 1st time stayed at Ascott serviced apartment Shanghai. Overall, the location is so prime that it took me less than 5 min walking to the shopping arcades and restaurants. The staff 're friendly and willing to help. The only complaint that I need to remind everyone who is 1st time customer, apart from the breakfast, the only restaurant on 6th floor is always full (despite there is zero customer) in it, the lady whose attitude is rather arrogant and not keen to help, will always ask you, have you booked? If not, it is mission impossible to get a table there. This is a big concern to me as one of the reasons if not most important to choose a serviced apartment instead of hotel gotta do with the way they make you feel more like home by providing the kitchen, washing machine and friendly restaurant. Unfortunately the latter one is not available and this needs to be improved.
