The location is excellent, right smack in the middle of all the activities and within walking distance of the People's Sq Station. The staff is very courteous and the service is good. I had some issues with the power points and TV and the service recovery was good.

This is a beautiful hotel with excellent rooms. Everything is well organized and very clean. The staff is very professional and friendly. The room furnishing and layout are more of a traditional style, which is much nicer than other famous hotels I have stayed at. I will continue to come to this hotel.

Overall pleasant stay with good location just the air con too hot as they set a standard 25C temperature for all rooms during winter. You can’t adjust to lower temperature unless you off the aircon which makes the room stuffy.

It's a great experience to stay in Crowne Plaza, clean room, convenient location, friendly hotel employees etc. Although encountering some issues during our stay, the gentleman (sorry that we forgot to ask for his name) at the front desk was so helpful and willing to solve the problems promptly. Liam Lu at the concierge was so helpful during our stay. He is so friendly and very professional in doing his jobs. They are definitely an asset to the hotel. We will stay in Crowne Plaza again next time when travelling to Shanghai.

Great rooms and a central location

Lovely large room with separate bath and shower. Great breakfast on the second level. Close to People’s Park and the Shanghai Museum and the central walkway down to the Bund. Only a five minute walk from People Square station if you’re on Line 2 metro from Pudong Airport. The swimming pool was closed during our stay for refurbishment so worth checking if this is important to you but the gym is excellent.

The hotel is well connected with malls and metro station within distance. Very convenient to get to the Bund as well as there is a shuttle tram on the road where you could pay 10 Yuan per pax to get closer to the bund. Hotel wise, cleaning staff was attentive . The hotel's room ac seems to be set at low temperature even on such weather. There were no clothes hook in the bathroom which is very weird since the room we chose was a renovated unit.

Excellent location and very near to almost all tourist destinations and airport. Just a stone throw away from the nanjing pedestrian road and gourmet resto. Manager and staff were very friendly specially the one who helped us with speedy check in. He was very attentive and upgraded our room to the next higher category because of being a hotel.com gold member. We will surely stay with crowne plaza next time we visit Shanghai.

Great location for accessing Nanjing Rd and we could see the Pearl Tower from our room! We arrived early and they were able to check us in 2 hours earlier and also gave us late check out. This was really appreciated since we had a toddler in tow. The junior king suite we stayed in was really spacious, again perfect for our active toddler. Highly recommend

The location is in walking distance to People’s square metro station. Our room has a great view to the Nanjing road walking street, the bund and the oriental pearl tower. There are many coffee shops, local food stores nearby. The room is quiet and spacious, and well maintained. The staff were very nice and helpful. Overall a great stay.

Located at the center of Shanghai Huangpu district, the hotel has the best access to Citywalk of Najing road right at its entrance. It's also very popular among international travelers from my observation during my 6days stay. The service is also top notch. From luggage service to front desk and room service, everyone is very friendly, polite and ready to help the guests. My returning flight was delayed 24 hours due to typhoon so I called the staff to extend the stay midnight. It was connected immediately and the staff helped me extend the same room with no hassle. I really appreciate their professional service. My stay was a breeze and for sure I will visit again.

Crowne Plaza is located at the end on Nanjing street in Shanghai and this excellent location had excellent dinning and shopping.
The checkin and checkout was easy and a shout-out for Kathy who upgraded us to a VIP room with a view of the Shanghai skyline and my wife loved it. One thing I would recommend is that the breakfast buffet should clearly identify vegetarian dishes to avoid any confusion.
We highly recommend this hotel for visitors who have a few days to see the city.

The hotel is right smack on the busy street of Nanjing East Road and so it provides easy access to the MRT (People's Park Station is just 5 to 10 minutes away). Food is a plenty so there are a lot of options. Hotel itself is very clean.

We love that the hotel provides self-initiated services such as replenishing water / water bottles and changing towels on a daily basis even though we did not ask to make up room.

The hotel is clean and elegant. Front desk folks are very courteous.

Location is fabulous, right on Nanjing Road but not loud or overly busy. Rooms were somewhat dated in feel, but still very nice, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast buffet was vast, but a bit pricey for the quality. Would definitely stay here again.

Bad staff service and outdated room furnishings

Most of the staff there are either inexperienced to understand or handle our queries and they are not very helpful. The only person I can comment is the lady that processed our check-in although rooms were not ready as we were early. I understand she requested for a clean and if possible, refurbished room. Think her last name is Zhang. All the other front desk staff are mostly unfriendly although I speaks Mandarin. They were selective on guests and my simple request for a power plug got ignored as they say it’s all taken up (for 2 nights!)

This hotel would have been lovely 20 years ago. Now, it is tired, and not very clean. This hotel has the most unwelcoming lobby I’ve ever seen. There is nowhere to sit! The back door/taxi drop off/pick up has a massive open space for luggage…it’s unsightly and unwelcoming for guests. There is also zero seating in the front lobby. It’s strange and has bad curbside appeal (aka bad feng shui!)

It is a very nice hotel, very conveniently located on Nanjing Road (walking shopping street). The room is very clean with all the facilities. The people at the reception desk speak English. Breakfast is excellent with many options. One issue I had is the bath room. I found the toilet flush did not function well (old style), the switch for water draining in the bathtub was really stiff, I could not pull up, so I had to call someone to come to help me, as well the drain for the basin,... Overall, it was a nice stay.

Check in process was very smooth. The front desk staff was very polite.
The room we had was very spacious and clean. I had a nice view of the Bund 👍.
Room service telephone operator did not know English well enough for us to order our room service meal, we had a tough time placing our order 😥.
Hotel restaurants service very limited. The Regent Chinese Restaurant was closed and there were no signs notifying the guests.
We were told the Comely All Day Dining only served buffet and no A La Carte menu available during lunch time.

Our stay at the Crowne Plaza Shanghai Nanjing Road was exceptional. The hotel itself is beautiful, the foyer is stunning. The location is brilliant, you step out from the hotel foyer on to Nanjing Road. There are lots of shopping and dining options around the area. Our room was great, very spacious and beautifully furnished. I think we got great value for money. Would happily stay here again.

Great hotel in a fantastic location. Right in the middle of all the shops with plenty of places to eat. Close to subways and connections to airports so easy to get around. This was my first property staying in China so I have nothing to compare it with. The hotel is adjacent to the Conrad and behind the property is a very large shopping area. There’s a lot of road construction so lots of traffic. The hotel is older so don’t expect the jacuzzi tubs in your Jr suite to work. All of the rooms have broken tubs and replacement parts are no longer available.

The breakfast is very good but missing Smoked Salmon, bagels, cream cheese, red onion. The staff is friendly and the gym is good.

It takes a while for the hot water to reach the faucets and the valves are backwards which takes getting used to. Is it because it China or bad plumbing?

I would stay there again but I like to try out different hotels

What a way to end our trip

We loved Shanghai. Our first leg we stayed near the bund and this time we thought we’d stay near Nanjing road.

Firstly. Staff here are amazing, they were so great with the kids and really helped with when we arrived slightly before check in. Gave us an amazing room with a great view of the Shanghai skyline. Was an older style hotel, but so clean and comfortable. One of the best of the trip.

The location is awesome. If you wanted to you can walk to to the bund, there’s thousands and I mean it, options to est around the hotel and realistically we had two kids (5 & 2) and walked everywhere from here. Everything felt like it was 30-45 away walking and it was very convenient.

Our next trip to Shanghai (which we are considering going again next year) we will definitely be staying here again.

Property with no comfort for Business Traveller st

I won't rate this as a five start hotel. Windows are not douboe glazed fir which there was noise coming from busy street. Moreover, air conditioning does not work below 26 degrees, I couldn't sleep first night and was advised to switch off A/C and run a standing fan for air circulation. Finally, I moved out one day earlier but they have refused to cancel the last night and asked for CNY 1000 for early departure. I am unable to accept this property as CRIWN PLAZA chain from my experience.
