Now the Premier Inn

This hotel has now become a Premier Inn. We booked in March to stay at the Holiday Inn Express. We received an email from Premier Inn saying they would honour our booking.
This was not quite the case and we are still waiting to hear from Premier Inn.
Having paid in full through Expedia, was told at reception on booking in that we haven't paid so a credit card was presented and payment taken (again) from that. When we checked out, I had the email confirmation from Expedia which stated it had been paid in full. Hotel staff were very obliging and stated we should not have paid for breakfast either as that was included in the Holiday Inn Express price.
They were trying to sort this out as we left, still waiting to hear from them as to the result, hopefully a refund into my credit card.

Otherwise the hotel was excellent, ideal location, inexpensive meals, great and friendly staff - hello Laura :)

the lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. the breakfast was ok - with small plates and small glasses no doubt to encourage small portions - and the smallest pastries ever. the tv remote control didn't work, but you could work the tv with the buttons on the top. i hadn't known what an \"accessible\" room was before I booked. It means fitted for disabled or wheelchairs. I didn't need these fittings, and wouldn't choose this again. I hope I didn't accidentally deprive someone who needed these facilities. It had been the only double room available at booking.

Holiday Inn Express Ayr - lovely team & good value

Had a two night stay recently and would highly recommend, pretty much the cheapest deal for two nights we found anywhere in Scotland - nicely appointed hotel, with bar and a decent brekkie. Staff where excellent a real bonus in this place, they were great.

You get a larger bed in most other places, but that is a real minor quibble.

Superb value for a really nice stay, easy to get to (you need a car before and during your stay though), clean, smart and a good place to stay for a wee trip to Ayr.

Very comfortable stay at this hotel, very clean and great service, staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Only downside was breakfast, very little choice of food but for the price we paid can't really complain.

Great place for convenience

This was a brief trip to visit family. This hotel was near the main road network and easy to find. Lovely modern hotel, good service, great price, really good breakfast. The only slight thing was some cobwebs and hair in the sink otherwise perfectly clean. We didn't complain as we were very tired. Overall I would happily stay there again. If you wanted to be near the beach then you might want to stay in the smaller hotels in the town but with this you have the benefit of knowing what to expect as it's a chain.

Stayed in Holiday Inn Express , Ayr at the start of a touring holiday in Scotland.Very convenient to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Beside Prestwick Airport.

Staff VERY friendly and helpful. Hotel FANTASTIC value for money and we will stay there again.

My partner,myself and two young sons aged 2 years and 7 weeks old stayed in a family room at the hotel and were very satisfied at the excellent service from the staff.The room was very clean and comfortable.the only gripe we had was the overpriced meal and drinks.Overall a lovely stay and staff made our family very welcome.would stay again.

I stop in lots of Hotels and this one lacks the basics

1. When entering the room it was freezing cold, when we switched the heating on it did warm up after a while however when we came back later that night there was no heat as if it is controlled centrally.

2. Hot water - is this Health and Safety gone mad, the shower and hot water tap had the maximum temperature of luke warm.

3. Room was clean and tidy no ironing board

4. We arrived back at the hotel at 00:15 to find that the bar was closed despite 2 staff being available there was no residents bar

5. Breakfast was okay

would not recommend this hotel they need to look at what customers want

Noisy Spanish Guests Awaken you @ 5am - Not impressed by Reception Response

We stayed 1st April/3rd April 2011 we were awakened at 5am by noisy guests knocking on each others doors, finally silence at approximately 6.30am, when we complained at reception, on the same morning after breakfast, we were told this is a regular occurance by Spanish Guests who stay regularly as they catch a flight first thing in the morning from Prestwick Airport, all very well but we had a ruined day due to fatigue being wakened by noisy rude guests.
So beware, the Hotel does nothing about this, they are just accepting this as a normal occurance, yet they have a duty to stop this happening!!!! but they do nothing about it. This is unacceptable.

As usual a good stay for the money. Room nice and clean and breakfast very nice. The stay was only spoiled by fellow guests talking loudly and making noise near our room.

Adequate for our needs

Found this hotel to be comfortable, friendly staff and an excellent brekfast bar.
Only drawback was actually getting into the hotel if your not used to the UK roundabout system. Being tucked in behind car yards didn't help.

We had an overnight stay with an early flight departure on 22nd Oct. Got to say the service was brilliant. We didn't arrive at hotel til after 8.30 so when we enquired about food, they promptly offered us a selection of take away menus which deliver very quickly to the hotel and they let us use there dining facilities. The receptionist booked our transport to the airport for us, which arrived at 6.00am prompt. There was a continental buffet served from 4.00am which we found very useful. There were also tea & coffee facilites in our room. All in all a pleasure to deal with.

This hotel, while a member of the Holiday Inn chain is not really comparable to an American motel. The room was quite spartan. However, the price included breakfast which was plentiful and in general this really was a bargain.

If you are looking for a clean hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff this is your place! We were there during the World Cup and spent two evenings with other guests cheering on our team. Great location if you are planning an early flight out of Glasgow-Prestwick airport.

Only one small pillow each, only two teabags and two sachets of coffee, very meagre. Toilet flush took some doing having to hold it in for some time before it worked. However the room was clean, the staff were polite and friendly and we were only staying one night so it was OK

Good for short business trippers

At the arrival to this hotel, I tought this stay would be quit dull because there was nothing around the hotel except a few automobile dealer shops. However, I found out that the hotel itself was cozy and good hotel staff made our stay enjoyable. It was sad that I had to miss their free finger foods during the first match of world cup soccoer. One minus point was the minimal selection of breakfast buffet. SInce they have a quite good buffet counter, they should try a bit harder to improve the food variation.
As tne name implies \"Express\", it may not suitable for travelers those staying multiple nights.

Good value for rate paid

We stayed overnight to catch an early flight next day. Breakfast was provided for us at 5.30 and included in the price. Not too far to drive to the airport. Modern clean room with comfortable beds. The down side was the room was fairly cold. There was a heater in the room but it could only be on heating when the door entry card was in the slot for the electricity so after an evening out we went back to a cold room which took a long time to heat up. Unfortunately there were no extra blankets either. Overall very good value as we paid a last minute rate.

Will not be going back!!

At check in we had been told that Expedia had booked us a twin room when I had asked for a double and on my booking confirmation email it said a standard room had been booked, which I presumed meant double. Anyway, the hotel gave us a double room, which was awful! I wasn't expecting anything fancy due to the price we had paid, but I was very disappointed! There were stains alover the carpet and on the bed divan. I felt uncomfortable the whole stay, thank goodness it was only for one night. I will not be staying in a Holiday Inn Express again.

Great value hotel

With our two children in tow we stayed for three nights while visiting folks in and around the west coast. The staff at the hotel were extremely welcoming and friendly, the rooms and facilities were spotless and breakfast was perfect for our needs. All four of us stayed in one room and it was fairly tight - but that is to be expected when you fold out the sofa bed and as we were out and about most of the time it did not matter. It is very well located if you are in your car and travelling around. The shower room is cleverly designed with a dual function door that enabled us to continue to use the loo while others showered and brushed their teeth - small thing but makes a big difference when you are getting ready to go out. Wifi in your room is pricey but there is free wifi in the dining room and bar so worked out fine. All in all it exceeded our expectations and was excellent value, would go again.

Stayed at this hotel a few times over the last couple of years and always been impressed by the layout ie modern, functional, comfortable bedrooms, attractive bathrooms. Staff a bit sloppy and not professional and there has been a price hike. I've noticed generally that budget hotels are either maintaining or increasing their charges and in this economic climate you can probably get a better deal in a higher ranking hotel

Hotel neuf très proche de l'aéroport de Glasgow Prettwick. Nous devions partir à 5h et on nous a spontanément dit que notre buffet serait prêt à 4h45.Hotel calme et conforme au standard de la marque. A recommander lorsqu'on a un avion a prendre le matin de bonne heure.
