Below average service at breakfast. Twice our orders were forgotten. Coffee and tea were served in cups. For a hotel of this standing it really should be served in pots. At breakfast, although there are a lot of staff available it doesn't feel at all coordinated.
Souk: Excellent service and good food.
Samiana: Very good service and below average food
Poolside: Very slow service and average food. Staff friendly.
Concierge and taxi: Excellent
I used to be a food and hotel critic for a well known international company. The hotel, I feel, is trading on style over substance.

I was looking forward to staying at the Taj mahal palace. We stayed for two nights, and we were disappointed by the quality of the performances. On the one hand, the staff has little regard for customers (except for very wealthy customers). In addition, the wait and the non-chalence of the waiters at breakfast, the air conditioning that works at full capacity and the smell of humidity in our room (Deluxe room) spoiled our stay. I do not recommend this property. A visit to the premises is sufficient.

The quanlity of the service was overall excellent. My constructive feedback is towards the concierge department. They mentioned they connected with another TAJ hotel restaurant on my request to make dinner reservations. This restaurant did not accept reservations but i was told they registered my name so the restaurant was aware i was to arrive with my guests. However, the restaurant did not register my name and the manager there confirmed thisby showing me the guest list. I sought clarification upon returning to the Taj Palace but again no explanations were provided. I found this lack of communication from their end rather disheartening. I would have appreciated an explanation.
The service of Amrita, the management trainee was good. Th restaurant sea lounge was amazing boh for the food and service. The waiter staff Goydi and Kavya were excellent.Th constructive feedback that I provided to the manager Sagnik was well received. The service at the poolside was rather slow and my partner had to physically get up from our table and ask for a aiter after waiting about 10 mins. The interesting part was that it wasn't even busy in appearance and a few of the staff were horsing around by themselves. I hope that the training program for these youngsters improve as it reflects poorly on the hotel brand. The pool staff and the health club staff were all amazing notably Appa, Parmeswer and Yogesh who went above and beyond to provide amazing service.

Exceptional stay that must be one of the best in the world. Staff were extremely courteous, very accommodating, and provided top tier service. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and superbly appointed. Hotel grounds and amenities were beautiful, and you can feel the tradition. Breakfast was very good with a broad spread of fresh items, with a great sunrise to catch if you’re early as well. Finally, location is top tier to browse around some great local shops, eateries and famous grand old buildings. Will definitely visit again.

This was the Best experience we had during our stay at Taj. We were pampered thoroughly with the hospitality ,satisfied with delicious cuisine and were made to feel special during our stay . Our room was decorated with balloons for our wedding anniversary and delicious cake was waiting for us in the room.Room had a spectacular sea view and it was kept spotless clean decorated with rose petals. Every bit of Romance created in the atmosphere and we felt the well wishes of everyone whom we connected with.

It was overall a underwhelming experience. We chose the Taj Palace as it is meant to be ‘ the hotel’. But I think apart from the name and the location, we have definitely stayed in better 5 star hotels.
I’m glad we didn’t chose to spend our entire trip at the Taj- it seems more catered to the taste of foreign Individuals. The staff- whilst very friendly and helpful, overall aren’t as warm and welcoming as we found at other 5 star hotels- there’s a certain tension you feel, perhaps due to the various guests they have to please.
It’s one of those things ticked off the list- but certainly won’t be rushing back . The food, condition of the rooms, staff etc are much much better at other hotels in Mumbai particulalry The Fairmont.
The buffet especially was relatively underwhelming and it honestly beggars belief that pastry chefs in India can’t manage to make many egg free options - honestly?

It’s hard to write this review because there is so much to love about the Taj Palace. Starting with the beautiful housekeeping and room service staff—the way my room and stay were cared for was most apparent there. Sony who I did private yoga sessions with, and the young woman who provided Ayurvedic treatments awesome.

Nidhee, the Assistant Front Desk Manager, went out of her way to make my stay exceptional. She is absolutely phenomenal and the hotel is lucky to have her.

That said, there are too many men in upper management who do not seem to care. Some of this may be timing, some very poor training, but it left a strong impression. Protests began the day I arrived, and by days 2 and 3 the hotel was closing its gates, bringing in more police, and strongly advising I not leave.

On day 2, I went to the gym where a male staff member commented that I was “the girl who got the massage yesterday” and then said my room number out loud in front of others. I was stunned. Yes, I had, there had been an issue with the booking. But for a staff member to speak about a guest’s private experience from another department was highly unusual and made me feel very uncomfortable.
When I spoke to management they offered to upgrade my room, but between not feeling safe I asked to leave early and be refunded for the 2 nights They said no problem and I left early the next morning. When Expedia contacted Taj for the refund they refused. Really poor customer support and dishonest experience .

Of all the hotels we have stayed around the world, this was the most memorable. Every inch of the hotel has been thought out, if there is anything the staff could do, they did to make our stay more comfortable.
Here are our highlights
1. Room upgrade
2. Live music at the pool and in multiple other places in the hotel
3. Room service for anything we needed in under 30 secs most of the time
4. So many nice smiles from the staff
5. FOOD - amazing food. Cooked to perfection, there were no unnecessary spices or oils to mask the actual taste. Best food we enjoyed in our 2.5 weeks we were in India.

Highly recommended, its once in a lift time experience.

We initially booked executive suite facing city, however that was not so impressive , but then we asked for better room and we were upgraded to grand luxury suite for nominal fee and that was facing gateway of India with balcony and it was very nice and luxurious.

Avoid at all costs...very unfriendly staff. They keep harassing guests. Never solve any issues. Never clean the room. They take forever to do any sort of laundry. Will take twenty minutes to serve a minuscule cup of tea at breakfast. When concierge was asked what places he would recommend to visit around Mumbai he basically had no idea. He literally said 'you can Google things and look at photos.' Another concierge kept smiling and laughing while I complained my room hadn't been cleaned that day. Avoid avoid avoid.

Shld be on everyone's bucket list to at least spend a night or two at the Taj Palace part of this hotel. A phenomenal experience of hospitality, history and luxury. An oasis in Mumbai's chaos of sound, color and smells. Best service and cuisine I have experienced.

This is a beautiful, historic property, built on the waterfront of Mumbai. The heritage tour is a must-do, to hear about the history of the building. The rooms in the older, palace wing are spacious and tastefully done. The service, like the property, is impeccable.

The hotel is magnificent, beautifully maintained and full of history. It was like staying in an art gallery. The general staff(cleaners and restaurant staff) were incredible- friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we did not find the reception staff that way. They were dismissive and misleading at check out.

This is an unforgettable experience to stay at the Taj Mahal Palace. It is absolutely beautiful, elegant, extraordinary with its art gallery & art displayed throughout its walking halls, award winning restaurants, pool, shops, and an actual history tour offered free by the hotel(Percy was a wealth of knowledge and class in his explanations bringing it all to life).The rooms are exquisite w/views directly to the sea and Gate. Well worth a stay.

Not the 5 star hotel you expect, check in took 1 1/2 hours, roll not very clean (just look at corners that haven’t been cleaned for weeks). Curtains has cigarettes smoke in them, though it should be non smoking!
