We stayed here for 3 nights and everything was great. The room was spacious and clean, the pool and jacuzzi area were always clean with towels. They had a nice breakfast in the mornings. There are 2 mini markets nearby for your essentials, and its a short taxi ride to town. Oscar and Ronal were very attentive in helping me book a tour, give recommendations of places to eat and even help me book a ferry on my last day. Overall, I would 100% recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Located on the edge of town but only $2 taxi or 20 minute downhill walk to central area of town. When we arrived for check in, we we’re greeted by Oscar. He is a very friendly and knowledgeable. He suggested restaurants and arranged taxis and tours for us. Our room was very clean and spacious. Towels were provided for the pool and beach. Breakfast was served made to order and hot. The hotel is a 30 min walk to town or a 5 min taxi drive.

What could be improved
1. The contact number listed was incorrect and Expedia hides the phone number and email the property sent via message. The front desk closes at 6 pm so if you come in after those hours it's impossible to contact the property to make arrangements ahead of time. The number mentioned on the listing was wrong and we kept calling this lady before we finally realized it was a wrong number
2. The air conditioner in the master bedroom of the two bed room unit was not working. It was hot. The staff were not able to fix it. It appears that another two bed room unit was available for booking on Expedia but it was not offered.
3. Property was a 10 minute drive from the city center and involved getting a taxi every time. We stayed only for one night because our lovely Airbnb was not available on the night of our arrival, and moved closer the next day so it was not a big issue for us. Getting a taxi to go downtown was not easy especially late evening (for dinner) but getting one to come back was quick.
Overall, the pros of this place significant out weigh the negatives and we would not hesitate to stay here again, especially as a bridge for a night. The friendly staff, clean room and amenities were all things we enjoyed.

Booked superior double king bed, at check-in the guy went to get the key for the correct room (we’ve stayed before and know the room types) but the were no keys left for that room type so gave us a deluxe double with queen, pretty much half the size. I pointed this out but he just said that’s what Expedia had reserved so argue with them. Expedia no help either.

It’s all about cost versus location . Hotel is clean and comfy with pool, games room, decent rooms and good aircon and hot water, but it’s a 20 minute walk down to the port. We did it twice and it’s absolutely fine, and taxis are $2 flat fare, so not expensive, but you are away from the action. Which is why it’s so much cheaper than the similar hotels in town.

Friendly staff, very nice service, clean room, different fresh made breakfast every day. Hotel itself was very good and worth the stay even though it was in a bit of outskirt of the main town.

For VIP access we meant to receive free airport transfer and room upgrade if available but didn’t receive it. Hotels.com displayed incorrect information and the hotel itself couldn’t assist with that.

To start…I was offered free round trip from airport to hotel and hotel to airport. Hotel failed to transfer me from the airport to the hotel. The hotel just said they will pay $5 for the bus. I wasn’t told I had to take a bus from the airport, a ferry to cross the channel and another bus to take me to town. Someone sent me vague directions and I almost got stranded at the pier. So, I had to take a taxi to take me to the hotel. However, when I asked for the $30 for the taxi fare, the hotel person, Christopher, who I was communicating with earlier, went silent and I never heard from him for the whole duration of my stay. He sent $20 for the whole ordeal including my return.
Advertisement says, property has access to beach. BIG LIE! Only a taxi will take you to the beach because it’s way too far. Also NO RESTAURANT. Breakfast is limited, juice mixed with water, tea, instant coffee, no cream or milk. A ridiculously small bowl of fruit, 2 warm slices of bread, NO REALLY TOASTED, some drinkable yogurt, and 1-2 eggs. Nothing around the hotel, no bars, no restaurants, too far from downtown, no beach nearby.
Front desk goes dark after 6-7pm. Nobody can help you after that if there’s any problem.
The sink faucet water flow was just drops of water.
On my last day, it was a power outage and no water. I had to brush my teeth and rinse with my own bottled water.

Room was clean but had no spare plugs room 12, hotel is very basic. The breakfast is served between 7am and 8.30am. It's very noisy as on the main road and scooters and trucks are up and about at 6am and there is a cockerel next door that crows early too.

This place promises things that it does not fulfill, it offered me round-trip transportation and when I sent them the email with my data to coordinate the shuttle, they simply told me that they were not going to do it, I asked for an answer, talking to the administrator, it was never possible, the place where the hotel is located is in the middle of nowhere. I only leave a 4 star review because I stayed for 5 days and the breakfasts were boring. Every day they offered the same thing, eggs, toast, or pancakes, cereal and strawberry yogurt. They don’t have a restaurant in the hotel and everything is far away. After the second day I was bored with the breakfast and started buying croissants next door in the bodega to have it with my coffee. The bodega next door to the hotel sells water, beers, drinks and ice creams. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Just a thought maybe the manager could buy “fresh bread” from the bakery the bodega was charging .25 cents per bread it’s probably cheaper to buy in bulk. Also an omelette would be better than fried eggs every day!

Extremely comfortable beds and very nice staff! The room is well appointed and the ping pong table is a nice addition that we've enjoyed using. It is 2km from the beach so it's a 15min walk each way.. Which in the hot sun seems like a long time even if you are very fit. However it's much cheaper due to its location so it's great value for a long walk..

Great hotel for family to use as home base for land based Galapagos visit. The rooms are very clean and modern - comfortable beds and cleaning service each day.

Breakfast is provided and made fresh everyday which is nice if you are heading out on your.

Pool area is very well maintained and a nice amenity from the heat of the islands!

Staff very prompt and helpful.

It is a bit far from town and restaurants - not really walkable due to hills and heat) but taxis are very affordable ($2 each way). Some street noise but I think that is hard to avoid in the town.

Overall would recommend as a great option.

Very nice, more modern property with pool, but in an area a little further away from most dining, shopping, and water options. Pool looked very nice but did not use. Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially in arranging taxis.

The VIP amenities mentioned free roundtrip transfer from the airport for two. I only needed it one way for one, but when I asked to arrange it for my departure, I was offered $5 to go down to the bus stop to buy a ticket. That's not what a transfer is. The language should be more specific.

The breakfast included eggs to order, carb (toast, pancakes, or cheese empanada), small fruit, and some juice. There was also coffee, tea, hot cocoa. The hotel isabout 20 min walk or few minutes taxi ride ($1.50) from the main area. It was nice as it was much quiter, other than some animals (chickens, dogs, etc) making noises. The hotel does not have a restaurant on site. There is a convenience store next door which also sells alcohol (wine, beer, liquor). The hotel has a nice pool, jacuzzi, and a small exercise room.

The building is open concept and there is lots of natural light and fresh air. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk to the downtown area and although you walk through very sketchy-looking streets, it is very safe.

This hotel is in a quiet residential area away from the town; it's about a 15-20 minute walk downhill to reach restaurants and shops in the town (or $1.50 in a taxi). I highly recommend dinner at Dimati - good Italian food and lovely staff. The hotel is clean and comfortable, and breakfast is great with some variety across the days. The jacuzzi is only available for a couple of hours in the evenings... ecofriendly :-) Oscar was very helpful and speaks good English.

After you cross the ocean the cheapest way to get to the hotel is, buy a bus ticket to take you to bus terminal, hotel is 5 minutes walk.

Location of hotel is on a hill with a terrace and great view of the island

Mr. Oscar Ramirez as a welcome host and his service, fantastic.

Rest of staff like breakfast cook and server/s great also.

Pool facilities and spa pool great

Overall for such a great low accommodation rate, I felt like I was in a five star hotel/resort

Finally, to waterfront a fifteen minutes walk or a cheap taxi ride.

At waterfront you have already live SEALS and IGUANAS waiting for you to take pictures.

For everyone please be careful, each person has to pay a very expensive entrance fee to Galapagos at airport of Quito or Guayaquil then another fee when you enter Baltra Island, which is horrible way expensive.

Property is clean and well maintained, l liked the kind staff service specially Angel, who was always friendly and ready to help.
I didn't like the noisy specially in the early morning because the breakfast set up and the cars passing by the hotel.
Our last afternoon at the hotel we couldn't use the hot tub since it was supposedly under maintenance or at least that's what the front desk agent told me in addition to other excuses, I wonder if that was just a bit of laziness, either way it was a bit disappointing.
I didn't receive any benefit as Expedia Gold member, at the end of my stay l requested a late check out, once again the same front desk agent asked me for proof that I was a Gold member and the benefit I have, I had to log into my Expedia account and show him so he would believe me.
Once more disappointed.
It needs to improve.

The only complaint…the hotel does not respond to messages sent through Expedia and they also never answer the phone. I was not able to schedule my free transportation from the airport because I couldn’t ever get a hold of anyone. The hotel clearly needs to update their contact information.

The description of this hotel is totally inaccurate. There is no restaurant of deli on site. Also, when we booked it stated they provided airport transportation. We requested it multiple times and got the run around. Also, it is on a busy road with trucks and motorcycles going by all night.

They made a great effort to communicate with us in English even though they had some limitations. They deserve an increase in their wages. The property is a little distance from the main strip. The $1.50 taxi ride is very cheap but it can be a problem when you start to run out of small bills.

We got off on rough start. The number provided by hotels.com always sent straight to voicemail. I went online to find a way to contact the hotel for the included gold status airport transfer that was not given as they said they were unable to acomódate three days before arrival but they could send a taxi at normal cost of 25 usd. The hotel itself was very clean, great service at the front desk, very helpful. A little from the docks if you plan to walk but doable. .

The property condition was decent but located on a busy road so you might need ear plugs or white noise (i.e. air conditioner running) to drown out the road noise at night to sleep. Breakfast is good and was served at a dining area near the pool, unfortunately the rooftop restaurant was closed for remodeling. If you're an Expedia VIP member expecting to receive VIP included perks like a free round trip airport shuttle, please note they did not honor that perk when requested in the original booking and closer to check in on both Expedia messaging and the hotel's own reservation system which they send you a link for asking you to access and provide information after booking. Though they sent a couple of template messages through Expedia they never responded on either site and upon arrival no shuttle was waiting (a taxi is $25 USD each way) which they claimed at check in was a misunderstanding but then prior to checkout when I reminded them of the free shuttle request back to the airport they claimed I would have had to email them directly in advance to request (I've re-reviewed everything and nothing actually stated an email was required) and offered me $10 USD instead which I did accept but that leaves $40 USD in shuttle perks they did not provide claiming I did not properly request them. That said, the employees on-site were otherwise friendly and helpful, in particular with calling taxis for guests whenever on demand which arrive promptly and only cost $2 USD to port Arroyo.

Overall this is a nice hotel. Rooms are small and bathroom was tiny. Several advertised amenities were not evident (BBQ grills, rooftop terrace). Staff is not bi-lingual as advertised. If you don’t speak Spanish communication can be challenging. However the staff DOES try very hard to understand what you need. Tour assistance though - was not really available, so “concierge” service is limited to calling for taxis. There was absolutely NO WiFi, they should not be advertising it at all. No laundry facilities - they will do laundry for a fee, but you cannot do your own. Continental breakfast is really “eat what we’re serving today”. Food was good - but choice is limited to non-existent. There is no snack bar/deli at all so I don’t understand why it’s advertised to have one. Also no poolside bar and no restaurant. Definitely no room service. The pool is nice - but it’s not heated and was pretty chilly.

Note this hotel is not near the pier or any restaurants, etc. Taxis are cheap, but being closer to town would be nicer. Also the area around this hotel is not nice at all. Unfinished construction projects that are now overgrown abound.

The staff is great-the hotel itself is nice, but it is not as advertised…..

Es un Hotel sencillo, se ve nuevo, limpio y el servicio es muy cordial.
La ubicación no es óptima, pero no es un problema, pues en Puerto Ayora se puede llegar a cualquier lado por la carrera mínima en taxi de $1,50.
Los beneficios Gold de Hoteles.com que se promocionan en la página, no los otorgan.
Es recomendable para familias.

The property itself and staff are amazing. The rooms were extremely spacious and comfortable. The pool was great and the breakfast was also very nice to have. While it’s a bit away from the main strip the staff always got us cabs quickly and they cost $1.50 each way. The surrounding area has some construction but that was during the day when we were typically gone. Every time we arrive md or departed the staff at the hotel were there to meet us and check in. We stayed with another family (5 kids in total) and this hotel met all our needs to ensure we were taken care. We would absolutely stay again!

El Descanso del Guía was a refreshing experience. While the location is not ideal, it compensates by how quiet, clean and friendly the place is. The staff is very helpful and nice. Our stay was excellent and would definitely stay there again.

This hotel was a nice stay while we were in santa cruz. It is a bit far from downtown but you can take a taxi for a dollar or two. Host drove us downtown once since our taxi drove off, and he also helped us find a COVID testing site for our return to the USA which was very helpful. You can see the ocean from the top where the restaurant is, but it's not close if a view is important to you. However breakfast was good each morning and the property was very clean and eco friendly.

Had a problem with expedia reservation change and hotel which cost alot of extra time - not very happy about that. The poor girl at the front desk tried her best. Rooms was sufficient and rooftop breakfast was nice. Should not be a charge for hot tub usage (and should be warm so guests could actually use it).

is a bit far away form the busy area of Puerto Ayora, however the taxi ride is only 1.5$ each way, the rooms are nice, with a nice view of the bay, internet works fine, and staff is very helpful & nice. A minimarket is right next door to the place.

The hotel room was spacious, and the outdoor pool was a nice touch. However, the hotel was located on the outskirts of Puerto Ayora, so every time we wanted to head downtown, we had to call a taxi for $1.50. The surrounding areas were relatively run-down compared to the downtown area.

In addition, the complimentary breakfast is only available beginning at 7 am, but the inter-island ferries depart at 7 am, so we had to buy breakfast near the harbor instead.

Very nice swimming pool to cool off in and relax! The excellent staff, however, is what made our 4-day stay special. The front-desk staff were exceptionally helpful in a couple of instances where we needed some assistance. Breakfast on the roof in an open-air setting started every day off right! Thanks! We greatly recommend the hotel. Why pay a higher price … it doesn't get any better!
