We could not say anything less than AMAZING. Prime location, amazing landscaping and beautiful villas. That’s my review regarding the premises. Now service and food speaking; that’s where you have a real difference. Everyone during our stay were available, friendly and respectful. Every detail matters and this is where Maya stands out. The stay at Maya was nice and the area was beautiful. The Villas are very peaceful as well as the whole property. There is a nice calm feeling at this resort as it feels secluded even though it is very close to the downtown Ubud area. The live performances at dinner were a fun addition; if that be the traditional dancing at the main restaurant or the band doing cover songs at the bar.

We are giving Maya 4 stars rather than 5 because a lot of the amenities stopped between 5 and 7 which created multiple inconvenient experiences on trip. For example, the tram is a great amenity that takes guests to downtown Ubud but it only runs from 9am to 5pm. This is such an early time to be shutting down this amenity. In addition the pools and spa close at 7pm which seems very early.

Regardless of the amenities, this was a very nice resort to have some calm and just be.

Check in was a little protracted. I didn’t think I needed a detailed explanation of how to find things on the property using the map. Turns out I did as the map is somewhat confusing. Rooms are lovely, amenities for bath and different types of pillow options were a treat. My room came with “butler service” which is really nothin different than you’d get from any nicer hotel…turn down service etc. I was very disappointed that my room choice didn’t allow for the in room chef and breakfast did not come with my stay.

We love Maya Ubud Resort and Spa. Specially, most of the people work there were friendly and nice. The room was so clean, quiet and comfortable. Their breakfast was wonderful, they had Indonesian food and Indian, Chinese food and regular breakfast. Everything was so fresh. They had gluten free options for bread and pastries,… fresh fruit. Maya Ubud Resort & Spa was an unforgettable stay. My room had 2 balconies that offered stunning views, and waking up to the sounds of nature each morning brought a deep sense of peace and tranquility. The infinity forest pool was beautiful, but the river infinity pool was my favorite- Truly a one of a kind experience surrounded by jungle. The food was spot on, and there was daily entertainment with live bands and performances, which added so much to the atmosphere. On top of it all, the resort is perfectly located in the heart of Ubud, making it easy to reach most of the area's famous attractions while still feeling like a private escape.

This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had, and I don’t understand how this property is marketed as “5-star.”

We paid to stay here and couldn’t even reliably access the resort/our room. When we arrived, there was construction with blocked-off access and staff wouldn’t allow paying guests through. We were told “Security is coming.” We waited and followed up—security never came. No escort, no clear direction, no ownership. The only response we eventually got was essentially “go to the room,” as if blocking guests from entering is normal.

What made it worse: they offered NOTHING to fix their mistake. No meaningful apology, no remedy, no compensation, and no manager stepping in—just deflection and moving on.

Cleanliness was also a serious issue. The room felt damp and poorly maintained, with concerns around the bathroom. The A/C had an unpleasant odor and appeared dirty, making the air quality feel questionable. Even dining was unsanitary: at one of the restaurants the silverware was visibly not properly cleaned (residue/film). Disgusting for a resort at this price point.

We also experienced bites/skin irritation consistent with pests. Regardless of what they claim, we left uncomfortable and concerned—and they showed no urgency.

Worst part: after the stay I emailed the resort FIVE times and called TWICE. Not one person has returned a single response.. If you’re wondering whether they’ll take care of you when an issue occurs they won’t!

They also had construction going on along the tennis courts but this does not take away from the quality of service and happiness they provide.

Eka, Mei, Putra was our butler and he did a fantastic job and was always there if anything was needed, 5 out 5 starts for you and the rest of the team!! Good work and stay here!

Our stay at the Maya Resort in Ubud was unforgettable from the very start. When we arrived, a few curious monkeys were waiting in our garden to welcome us — a sign of the nature and charm that defines this place. The next morning, as I set out for an early walk, I was lucky enough to join a large family of about thirty monkeys on the first leg of my hike. They moved calmly and peacefully through the forest, completely at ease with my quiet presence. It was a magical and truly unique experience.

Beyond the wildlife encounters, everything at Maya Ubud was exceptional. The meals were consistently delicious, the resort grounds were immaculate and lush, and the service was flawless — attentive without being intrusive. Each evening brought beautiful traditional entertainment that perfectly complemented the atmosphere.

The pictures don’t do this place justice. It’s a beautiful serene hotel in the heart of the rainforest. Our villa had an infinity pool which was beautiful and the outdoor hotel infinity pools were also phenomenal. We couldn’t get into the spa as it was booked out but that would have been excellent too. We had an amazing time at this resort and the service was phenomenal.

Coming from Hotel Indigo Seminyak with its amazing service, I had high hopes for Maya Ubud but left disappointed. The upgrade to a “corner suite” for 400,000 IDR per night was a joke — the room felt dated and not worth the extra cost. The TV didn’t work, the faucet leaked unless tightened extremely hard, and housekeeping didn’t clean our room until we specifically asked. Service overall lacked attentiveness and warmth. For the price and 5-star rating, Maya Ubud falls short in both care and quality.

What a lovely resort - there was a mix up with our booking and our first room was very small even though advertised for 4 adults -it was not suitable for 4 adults sharing - and also very noisy - but the manager sorted it out - breakfast ought to be included in the pricing I feel - all the staff so friendly and helpful and grounds beautiful - Butler service widely advertised is simply concierge service and perhaps remove impressive from room descriptions as they are simply standard hotel rooms unless you have a villa. On all bookings we had to chase up for dressing gowns but other than that I would recommend the hotel for a relaxing and chilled out stay.

We had some last minute changes/unforseen circumstances and needed to shorten our stay. The manager was extremely inflexible and unhelpful and insisted on charging us for 2 nights and 2 rooms- no offer of vouchers or any compromise. Given this was my second stay at the resort- very disappointed with my experience with the reservations team.
At check out- we were charged twice for expenses and it wasn’t until we checked our receipt that we realised- how they managed to take 2 payments from 2 separate people for the same bill is concerning.

Restaurant and other hotel staff were absolutely lovely, just really disappointed by the management and reservations team that really let us down.

Our stay at the Maya was absolutely amazing. We came for our honeymoon and they upgraded us to a private villa without asking. The service was impeccable from start to finish—everyone was so warm and helpful. The grounds themselves were gorgeous and well-kept, with amazing views of the rainforest and rivers. Property looks better in marketing. I got food poisoning at the hotel restaurant the first night. I was sick for 2 days and never saw Ubud. I had to call hotel doctor at my expense. Room smelled of mold and a humidifier was added. It stopped working in the middle of the night, every night. We checked out 1 night earlier and asked for reimbursement to which they offered a free meal which we did not take. Terrible experience. Would not recommend. Staff was friendly.

This is the most beautiful resort we have ever stayed at. Everything was perfect. Our villa with our private pool overlooking the rainforest was so private and relaxing. The buffet breakfast was great, the sunset drinks during happy hour at the tree bar were delicious. The Balinese dances during dinner were different every night. I loved the daily yoga, we did a cooking class and had massages at the spa. It was a perfect holiday. The wifi was also awesome and was super fast everywhere in the resort including all the outside areas. Would definitely go back again.

The staff are exceedingly good at making sure that guests feel welcome and taken care of during their stays. In particular, we would commend Mr. Ganga (our personal concierge), Ms. Nila (who graciously received us at check-in), Ms. Dewi (excellent host for our breakfast), and Mr Manar (filled in when Ganga was not there).
Exceedingly good service requires a team to make it this way and we especially felt it with these people.
