An interesting hotel housed in a group of medieval buildings. Lots of exposed beams and narrow stairs. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were very comfortable for the one night we spent there. The food is ok. Nothing to complain about at this price point. Very good value.

Only issue was tv was set with a reminder to change channel spoke to staff they thought it was rectified but happened for second night not an issue as stay was relaxing and enjoyable.

Comfortable stay, but difficult parking
I had booked this hotel on the understanding that there was free parking. Hotels.com need to adjust the information about this as it was a key factor in my choosing this hotel but proved incorrect. When we arrived at 5 pm, we found a very small car park that was never going to be sufficiently large for all guests to park. It was also awkward to park in, as the notice at the entrance implied: 'reverse in - believe me, it's easier that way!'. We managed to find on-road parking very nearby where one hour was allowed and, in our case, overnight as the restriction was only till 6 pm. But restrictions began again at 8 am so we had to move the car before we had breakfast. Fortunately, the retail park nearby with B&M and Morrisons allowed 2 or 3 hours free parking and this was enough for us, but it would have been very annoying if we had been staying longer or if it had been raining.
The hotel itself was pleasantly quirky and had a lovely little garden which was perfect for drinks apart from the noise of the hotel kitchen extractor fan. Breakfast was good with all the usual Full English type options. The beds were comfortable and I would have had a good night's sleep were it not for a (presumably) drunken man shouting and singing his way through the night outside our window. Convenient location for city centre restaurants and shops. Generally clean, but plenty of dust on the shower room skirting boards! Decaff tea available at breakfast which was good, but not in the room.

Tired room at the top of steep, narrow stairs with a 'bathroom' so small I couldn't fit onto the toilet. It was allegedly a \"Superior King\" room so one wonders about others. So called 'Acclaimed' restaurant closed for the evening.

A unique experience, totally in a good way. They've somehow retrofitted a 14th century building with modern amenities while maintaining its historic charm. Loved our suite! Staff was personable and professional. Great food as well! Little English flower garden in the back. Lovely place!

We stayed at the Old Vicarage for one night on our way down from Cheshire to visit family in Cornwall. We had a double room for my husband and I and our daughters shared a twin room with our dog. The service was impeccable throughout and our dog, Harvey, was treated like a VIP! Our wonderful breakfast was served by Daniel, who was friendly and professional. We chatted with the owners while checking out and it was clear that they pride themselves on the great team they have assembled to run this lovely, unique hotel. Would absolutely recommend and we'll stay again next time we are travelling south.

This was such a shame, having booked the property for two nights and two rooms through Expedia in Nov 2023 (6 months early to attend my daughter’s wedding), all was confirmed online, however on arrival we found the rooms had not actually been reserved, (apparently a technical/administrative error by \"either\" the Hotel or Expedia!!). The Hotel did accommodate us on the first night (one room upgraded to a suite) but had no space for the second night. They frantically located other rooms at another hotel for the next night which was no easy task on a bank holiday weekend (Thanks Holiday Inn albeit at a significantly higher cost to me). After a bad start, the one-night stay was lovely and we had a nice meal in the restaurant. The hotel is full of character, breakfast is good and the staff were great/helpful, (two nights would have been better and less stressful). Lesson learnt check the booking directly even when you have a confirmation through a booking site.

The room was average, the bathroom miniature but in the morning the toilet didn't flush, it was disgusting, and there was no one around to report the issue, eventually I managed to go around the back and at least tell the chief in the kitchen. Extremely disappointing for not a cheap room!!

Our room was very small with an even smaller bathroom, where the toilet was barely fitting between the wall and the shower cabinet making it toilet visits a tad uncomfortable.
There was feces stains in the toilet upon arrival and hairs scattered around the bathroom. The rest of the room was fine and looked clean.
The entrance door did not properly close and left a big gap between the floor and the door. Considering the rooms is right at the top of the entrance (very squeaky) stairs to all room, it was constant noise and light coming from below the door.
There is zero soundproofing so forget privacy.
We paid 220 GBP for 2 nights during low season, which are hotel level prices for guesthouse services.
I would chose another inn/hotel for next time.

As a first time mini break with our newly acquired fur baby this was a brilliant find. From the added extras in the room to the breakfast sausage you all went above and beyond to make this a great experience for us. Your hotel has all the character of a property of its age with plenty of charm in the rooms behind the black doors, including the bar, snug, the library and additional breakfast room. The hospitality from you and your staff was faultless. We will be back.

We stayed at the Old Vicarage for one night due to attending a friends wedding locally. Upon arrival, we met Peter who was lovely. He brought us some coffee and made us feel right at home. We learned a bit about Peter’s background and the history of the building, which was really interesting.

We had a one-night stay at this excellent hotel. We were warmly welcomed and check-in was very straightforward. The room was outstanding with a pleasant view and great facilities. Breakfast was delicious and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was available and it's just a short walk to the town centre where there are lots of interesting shops and pubs to dip into. We will definitely come and stay again.

The Old Vicarage is a very pretty pub and B&B with an amazing menu for vegetarians and vegans. The rooms are nicely decorated keeping the historical style. The breakfast was very good. It's also a dog friendly place with a pub dog. The owner is super chatty and friendly. Even if you don't stay here, it's definitely worth having dinner here.

A wonderful place. I love anything historical and this certainly was an historical place. Narrow staircases, nooks and crannies, a very quant feel about the place. A very spacious bedroom. I would definately stay here again when visiting for business. Be aware with the parking area that it is an extremely narrow difficult entrance to enter from road - so if your verhicle is rather large you may need to park elsewhere.

Family of four (2 kids under 9) stay for 3 nights whilst house hunting in the area. Room was perfect for our needs, the food was lovely and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend them to anyone in a similar situation!

Very small car park, however this is idenrified on the listing. Restaurant in need of an uplift. Difficult to tell which parts of the hotel was grade 2 listed. Bit dissapointed to find my room was in a building to the rear of the main hotel which wad acfessed via the car park area. Once inside the building, the room was accessed up steep stairs. Room overlooked an untidy garden and was not a nice view at all. Although the en suite had recently neen upgraded, it smelt of drains or some othet nasty smell. Bedroom needed bringing ging upto date. Bed was very uncomfortable. Eveni g meal was nice however breakfast was awful. Complained to the management about the stste of the bed and how uncomfortable it was. Although i recieved a small reabste of my room rate, even with the reabste i would say the even that wad overpriced at the reduced rate. Very apologetic but i thi k the propriter should check the beds and rooms every now and then maybe sleep in them every nowcsnd again.
